Pickpocket!
Solo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7
It's been quiet, peaceful in the world of Tendaji. Many have grown used to the new normal between the Aishans, the Earthlings, and the Kahikinans. Because of this sense of security, a few unsavory folk are taking advantage of the distracted locals.
A pickpocket is on the prowl in the marketplace, and you find yourself involved.
This prompt will be resolved by rolling 1D100. 1-20: Oh no! Something VERY VALUABLE was stolen! 21-50: While not majorly valuable, you do have an important item taken from you. 51-90: A small item is taken and you immediately identify the thief in the crowd. 91-100: Not today - you catch the thief in the act.
[ Each participating character in this WE rolls 1d100 and roleplays their reaction. You are also welcome to have your character reacting to this event happening to someone else, if it makes more sense for your character's plot.
Or, even better, maybe your character is the thief - roleplay it out from the perspective of the thief. ]

After having a visit from her long time friend she decided to make a trip to the marketplace so that she could get a few things. Mostly she wanted some new material to make a new dress. If she was seriously considering going back to work as a dancer she would need a few new things. Kalliope thought she might like to keep the stunning green color since it looked so good against her dark skin, but it may be time to retire the yellow sash she’d kept as a memento.
As she walked along a few things here and there caught her attention and she would wander over to the stall to take a look. Her hands coming up every so often to feel the materials to ensure that she would like the feel of it. There was nothing more annoying than having to perform while wearing something that made the skin itch. Or was too rough. It took her a few stops but eventually she found something that truly called to her and she bought the amount needed. As it was packed up for her she looked over the other bolts of fabric laid out. It couldn’t hurt to make sure there was nothing else that caught her eye.
Before she got her package of fabric from the vendor she was bumped into rather rudely. It made her stumble back a step or two to make sure she didn’t fall over and she was thankful for her natural balance. The person that bumped into her grabbed onto her for their own balance but didn’t apologize at all. And just as fast as they were there they were gone, grunting about something or another that sounded suspiciously like they were saying she shouldn’t be in their way.
The oban woman stared after then with a stunned look. She was fairly certain she had been minding her own business while shopping and very much not in the main walkway where the foot traffic was. With a roll of her eyes she turned back to the shop keep as they came over with her package to hand to her. With a small smile she reached both hands out to take it, giving her thanks.
“Thank yo--” She stopped mid word and stared at her hands. Or more specifically her left one. It was bare!
“My wedding ring!” Kalli called out with horror.
She had been wearing it just a few seconds ago! And it wasn’t loose enough to fall off! The image of the person bumping into her flashed through her mind. Oh no! Her head snapped to the side to try and locate them through the crowd but they were long gone. A strangled cry left her throat as she brought both hands up to cover her mouth, tears gathering up in her eyes. Kalliope walked around wearing lots of jewelry and most of them were expensive as they were made of gold but she didn’t really care about them. If someone asked for them she’d likely give them away if she felt so inclined. But her wedding ring was precious. It had been given to her by Gael.
When she looked back at the vendor that still held her package she could see the pitying look in their eyes. It wasn’t their fault but they could tell she was upset about the whole thing.
With a shaky hand she reached out and took the fabric she’d just purchased and brought it close to her chest. Not because it was precious but because she didn’t want something else taken from her today. She didn’t think she could handle that. As it was she needed to go home and tell her husband that the ring he’d gotten her was now gone. The engraving on the inside would never again be read by her.
Just the thought of that made the tears in her eyes spill over and roll their way down her cheeks. She was not looking forward to this conversation at all.
“Sorry about your ring ma’am.” The older woman offered. “I hope it wasn’t something special made.” She was hoping that would make it better.
“It was..” Kalli supplied. “My husband had words engraved on the inside.” Granted she heard those same words every day from his lips but it wasn’t the same as having those words to read when he was out at sea.
The other woman cringed before nodding her head. “Then report it to the guard and ask them to keep a look out at the shops.”
There was an idea. Maybe she could get it back if there was enough of an investigation.
