Her performance was the next to go on stage so she moved from her place seated in a booth so that she could make her way toward the stage. She still had a few moments but she wanted to speak with the musician who would be accompanying her to make sure they were on the same page for the rhythm. It would be difficult for her to give them cues on when to speed up or slow down if they didn’t know what to look for.

After spending the day at the docks he was ready to relax and have a good meal. He’d heard that there was to be a new performer at the tavern a few blocks from the docks so he decided to check it out. He could always apologize to Mrs. Gallan later for missing her delicious cooking. As he walked in it took some time for his eyes to adjust to the lighting and he almost collided with someone walking past. “Oh, my apologies.”

“Oop!” She had to stop almost instantly as the person who just came in almost ran into the poor serving girl in front of her. Kalliope looked at the man who had entered and offered him a smile. “Its alright, you didn’t know there was someone walking there.” She moved around the serving girl and looked her up and down. “No harm. Carry on.” She gave a nod to the girl to show that she would handle the male if he got upset about the incident. Her eyes then turned toward Gael. “Are you alright sir?”

He gave an apologetic look to the girl and as she was dismissed by the lovely woman he also nodded to show he wasn’t upset about the whole thing. When the fire woman asked him if he was alright he looked down at himself then grinned up at her. “I’m fine. Apologies if I scared your serving girl.” Last thing he wanted was to cause an upset.

“My serving girl?” She looked around before she chuckled and brought her gaze back to the man. “I don’t own or manage the place so you don’t need to apologize to me.” Kalliope moved so that she passed by Gael and made it to the other side of the door, just a bit closer to the stage but not quite there. “I’m simply a performer here. However, if you wish to give your apologies to the Patron I believe he is by the bar.” She pointed in the man’s direction and smiled a bit.

“No?” He questioned softly. “I just assumed with how you handled the situation that you were in charge. Fooled me.” He had seen more than a few times with Mrs. Gallan had done something similar with customers to keep her serving girls safe from harsh words. Never with him, mind, but a few others. “A performer? Are you the one who has everyone talking then?”

“I’m fairly good at dealing with a rowdy crowd when needed.” Thanks to her time spent with Ouen and his crew she was used to it. She had even gotten pretty good at reading the atmosphere of a crowd to see if a brawl would break out. “Oh? I do hope so.” If people were talking about her then that meant the word had spread and there should be an influx of people. More people meant more coin in her pocket.

Hearing that she wanted to be talked about made him laugh. “Spoken like a true performer.” He mused aloud. When the door opened behind him he glanced back then stepped to the side to be out of the way. “Sorry about that..” He nodded to the man that entered then gave his attention back to Kalliope. With a smile he motioned for her to lead the way as he was going in the same direction. “Shall we move away from the door Miss…?”

Her eyes went past the large Matorian male to the one that came in behind him so that she could offer a friendly smile then it went back to the one she was having a light conversation with. The way he motioned for her to lead and then stealthily asked for her name made her smile at him. “Kalliope.” She decided to provide it. He would have it soon enough anyways when she was introduced on stage. She turned and headed the way she intended but this time moved slower so as to not lose the guest.

“Miss Kalliope.” He nodded his head at her as he followed along behind her. He kept silent as they walked, his gaze going to the others in the room. Most were still watching the performance on the stage now, others were conversing with their dinner companions or were busy with their food. He hoped that when she got on stage all eyes were on her, it would only be fair. “Do you sing? Or play an instrument?” He had to admit he was curious how she intended to gain the attention of the audience.

“Sing? Well I can but I’m not very good at it.” She could hold a tune but any high notes and her voice cracked. “I admit I cannot play a single instrument.” Nothing to be ashamed of there. “I’m a dancer actually. I do need to speak with the musician before I go on though.” She might as well let him know now that she would have to depart from their conversation.

“Ah.. I can barely sing a shanty so no judgement from me.” As for instruments.. did beating his hands on the table could? Sometimes he did that in the galley to provide a rhythm for the shanties. Gael then heard that she needed to speak with the other performer and smiled at her. “Certainly, don’t let me keep you.” He motioned for her to carry on as he was capable of seating himself. “I look forward to your performance.” She had him intrigued now.

As he politely let her go about her way she smiled at him. His manners actually made her like the man. So she gave him a final nod of her head before she turned to leave him. It took only a few more steps and she was at the musician’s side. She quietly spoke with him about her needs for music and explained what his cues for the rhythms would be. By the time they had it all worked out it was time for her to go on stage.

He watched her walk away for a second before he found himself a seat. Luckily he managed to find a small twin top that he could sit at by himself that allowed for a good view of the stage. He had meant it when he said he was looking forward to her performance. There were many dancers in Oba but for the docks to be abuzz about one was interesting. As the serving girl from earlier came by he asked for a small meal to be brought over.

“Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to the stage our guest performer for the evening, Miss Kalliope!” Her introduction came and a small round of applause was her cue to step out onto the stage. As she did everyone fell silent. Draped over her shoulders was a large Keldari. Oddly enough the colors of the beast seemed to compliment her outfit and the gems that shimmered on it. She took up position and then waited for the music to start.
