▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ To Become and Amazon Class Choice - Prentice - WC 759 (2pts)
Her lessons with her mother had been hard but they had been very enlightening. Alizeh had discovered that she did not have a talent for swords. She always held them the wrong way and that caused strain on her wrists and arms. Not very good to do when the object of a fight was to cause harm to the other person, not herself. A staff or spear was too awkward in her hands. She always swung too wide or too close. A few times she’d knocked her own shins and that had left her bruised and limping for a day or two. Once again, not the objective. Daggers were too small and that meant she had to get even closer than with a sword. That made her nervous and she always shied away from it. So she’d settled on a bow and arrows.
At first she had a hard time pulling the string all the way back but once she got that down it was smooth sailing from there. Sort of. Hitting a target was easy. Making the bullseye was hard. Eventually she got close enough to the center that her mother was pleased. (Not that Akeldama had ever really been disappointed or anything.)
So when she’d figured out which type of weapon she was good with she needed to figure out what she was going to do with said weapon. Alizeh hadn’t wanted to become a sacred heart. She didn’t think she had enough skill to do that. Nor was she scary enough to be intimidating to anyone. So she’d settled on becoming an Amazon. It was simple, to her anyways, and was something she clearly saw herself obtaining.
While she hated the idea of taking the easy way out she didn’t want to over reach and not make her goal. Ali was sure she’d cry if that were to ever happen. So when her mother had heard she’d introduced her to someone that was trusted and that could show her how to use the bow and reach the goal she set.
“Alright. You’re Alizeh, yes? Akeldama’s daughter?” The woman before her asked.
She shyly nodded her head in answer but seemed too scared to respond with words. That seemed to make the woman narrow her eyes at her.
“You can speak, right? Why don’t you answer me?”
Ali squeaked a bit before she nodded again. “Y-Yes. I’m Alizeh. Akeldama is my Oma.” She said quickly.
“Hm. Alright then. Your mother wanted me to teach you how to use the bow a bit better as an Amazon.” The woman, who had a harsh marking going across one eye and down her jaw to her throat, motioned for her to follow.
The smaller Elaria wasted no time in moving her feet to keep up with the older one. She was curious to see what it was she was going to be taught. She thought for sure her mother had taught her everything already. While Akel didn’t use the bow she seemed to know a great deal about it.
“Alright so you’re going to have to show me what all you can do so I know where to start. Akeldama didn’t give me much to work with here.” She motioned for Ali to step up to the spot beside her before she pointed to the target some feet away from them by a tree.
Ali gulped but nodded all the same. The woman made her nervous so she couldn’t really help it. She shuffled up to where she was motioned to be then moved her bow up and took out an arrow. The motions were fluid, almost second nature now that she’d worked with her mother so much. The string was pulled and once she was sure she had her sights set she released. The arrow shot forward with a whoosh and then THUD, it hit its mark. She blinked once then looked at the woman who would be her mentor.
“Hmn. Not too bad. We need to work on your footing. Your hold is fine but it could be better.” SHe critiqued everything she could out loud but she didn’t seem to be to a point where she didn’t want to work with the younger Elaria. “You know what.. I can work with it.”
Alizeh let out a breath she hadn’t known she was holding and seemed to visibly relax after that. The last thing she had wanted was for the woman her mother had sought out personally to say she wasn’t worth the time to train.
“Thank you.”

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ One Step Forward Quest - Prentice - WC 586
Months of training with the woman her mother had hand picked for her, the woman being named Tarris, and Alizeh felt like she was more than adequate with the bow. Her skills had improved beyond what she ever thought possible. She was able to run and shoot a target almost dead center. She could also do a quick draw now.
“One. Two. Go!” Tarris called out to her.
In the span of a second Ali grabbed an arrow and had it pulled back. She turned toward the target and took less than two seconds to get her aim right. Without waiting she released her hold on the string and it snapped forward.
“Go!” Tarris said again.
This time Alizeh was running from her spot and going toward another. When she was three feet from it she tucked and rolled so that she was crouching on the ground. There she grabbed another arrow and had it in position. This time it took her less time to focus and the arrow was launched. She spared a glance to make sure it hit but then was moving again just as she heard her mentor call out for her to.
“Good. Keep it up.” Tarris kept a watch on her.
From where she stood the older Elaria was able to ascertain the skill level of her latest pupil. So far she had been doing well. Nothing had held her back as much as her own insecurities but once they had gotten past those it was easy to tell she had talent. She nodded her head with each shot that was done. In all Tarris approved of how well Alizeh was doing.
By the end of the little training course she clapped her hands and called out for Ali to cease. Then when she had the younger’s attention she motioned her over.
“How was it? Do I need to improve?” Ali asked, though she was a little out of breath from running.
“There is always room to improve, never let someone tell you otherwise. But I think you have moved past entry level skill.” Tarris grinned down at her.
Alizeh took a moment to make sure she had heard what she heard. Then all at once she squealed and jumped up and down before launching herself at her mentor.
“Yes! I did it!” She yelled.
Tarris almost instantly regretted calling the girl so close to give her the good news. She snorted and pushed her off, albeit gently. “Calm down.”
Ali let go and stood with a barely contained grin on her features. “I’m so excited! Wait until I tell Oma and Mata and Lu!” She knew her family would be proud of her from coming a long way with her bow skills. She had always worried in the beginning that she wasn’t good enough.
“Yeah yeah.” Tarris had to roll her eyes at the young girl. “Just calm down before I make you run the course three more times.” She gained a rather wicked looking smirk when Ali went wide eyed.
“Sorry!” While the training course that had been set up was fun she wasn’t looking forward to running it another three times. It already left her panting as it was.
“Go tell your family the good news. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Tarris dismissed her pupil with words and a wave of her hand.
“Right! Bye!” Alizeh barely stayed still long enough to yell her goodbye before she was sprinting home to let Akeldama and Pruu know the good news.
(( Alizeh has proven to her mentor that her skills are good enough to progress to the next level of training. ))
