Celestial Omens

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

There are many superstitions and beliefs in Tendaji, often originating from the culture and gods of each individual region. Wherever one goes, they might find a new routine or practice based on the region they are in. However, there seems to be one thing that all Tendaji residents believe in - the power and beauty of a meteor shower.

The rare celestial event is seen as a blessing, and this one just so happens to have appeared right when the New Year began. Oh what luck and what a great omen - this must be a sign of good fortune for the year to come.

[ How does your character react to the meteor shower that is lighting up the sky? How do they see this omen impacting their life and year to come? Explore the thoughts and experience either alone or with a friend. ]

Playing outside with her sister was always fun. It was something Alizeh enjoyed more than anything. She was busy giggling and hopping along when something in the sky caught her eye. She made a final hop then stopped to look up. Since the sky was fairly dark the lights stood out as they streaks across it.

Instantly she thought something was falling and she gasped. Ali moved over to her twin quickly and grabbed onto her arm so that she could cling. "Lu-Lu! Look!" There was panic in her voice. Ali then turned her head so that she could call out to their mothers. "Mata! Oma! There's something wrong with the sky!"

Akel was sitting just outside the door, sharpening her spear head, when she heard the giggles from her daughter stop. That was odd in itself and made her glance up to see what was going on. She saw Alizeh hugging onto Luleta and didn't think anything of it, that was fairly normal for the pair, so she went back to tending her weapon.

It wasn't until the panic in her daughter's voice came and she called out for both mothers that Akel looked up again, this time with some concern. Hearing that there was something wrong with the sky she glanced up. What she saw made her pause what she was doing before she relaxed and smiled. She stared for a second before she moved her eyes to find her lover. "Pruu.."

Luleta was carefully placing each foot, walking along a root protruding from the ground. It was a precarious one inch drop should she falter! She had just about completed her mission when her sister literally grabbed her attention. Immediately, the little lady was on guard for whatever threat was startling her dear sister. Eyes finally raising toward the sky, she reached to pull Alizeh protectively close. "Mata! Oma!" What was this?!

Pruu had been inside fixing dinner when the bustle started up. Hearing the girls' worry, she grabbed the kitchen knife and quickly ran to the door. One look at Akel calmed her though, and her gaze rose as well. Once she saw the streaks cutting through the dark night, she relaxed and sighed with relief. She tossed the knife back inside and brushed her fingers along Akel's arm before walking over to the nervous girls. She knelt down and wrapped her arms around them. "All is well, darlings. Have no fear. What you see is something special.."

When her sister pulled her close she half buried her face into Luleta's shoulder. Her yes glanced upward at the sky again and seemed transfixed with it. Akeldama hadn't moved so she wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing. Then before too long she felt Pruu's arms around her and her twin. Alizeh turned her head to look at their mother. "What do you mean Mata?" She was genuinely curious now. If the falling sky was something special she wanted to know what it was.

Akel looked at Pruu with some amusement as she took note of the knife and had to chuckle a bit at her. "Really love, you think I wouldn't get up and handle a threat?" She teased.

The touch to her arm was met with a touch from her hand and he let Pruu go over to the girls. Akeldama then set her spear to the side and got up to follow. She would go around to the front of the trio and kneel down in front of their daughters. "This is a good omen. A blessing from Elzira."

Luleta continued holding her sister close, curious but also suspicious of the strange lights in the sky. She didn't relax again until their mothers drew near, looking back at them for the briefest moment. It was comforting that they were both there, but the lights in the sky certainly had her attention even more. "What kind of blessing? What is Elzira saying?"

Pruu's lips pressed bashfully. "Better to be ready than come out with nothing on hand and have it turn out to be a threat," she huffed dismissively. She was always prepared to defend her family.. even if she did tend to overdo it just a little, on occasion. Now she could be calm again and managed a small smile once the girls were securely between them. "From what I understand, she is telling us to look forward to wonderful things. Things as wonderful and fantastic as flying stars.."

Ali looked at both of her mothers as she clung to her sister. Innocent green eyes blinked a few times then looked up at the sky and the falling stars again. "Good omen? How is something falling a good omen?" She questioned that. The stars were supposed to stay in the sky where they were put not move around and fall. "What about the people that use the stars to navigate? Won't they get lost now?"

Akel chuckled at Pruu but understood her reasoning, she'd only wanted to tease her wife a bit. To their daughters she reached out and gently touched each of their little faces. "No Ali, they won't get lost. There are other stars to use." She grinned. "Flying stars means good things will happen, wonderous things." She glanced up at Pruu. "Maybe Elzira will give us more blooms and you can have younger siblings." Another jest at her partner since neither of them had gone to seek such a blessing. When she looked back at her daughters she laughed. "Or maybe you will grow a whole three inches this season." Wonderful things didn't have to be big events, they could be small milestones.

Luleta peered up at the streaks in the dark sky, and then to her sister. It didn't seem like anything was actually falling to hit them, and their mothers seemed quite certain on the matter. A smile rose and she gave her sister a squeeze. "It's okay, Ali. If it was bad, Oma and Mata would already be going off to fight it." Her eyes rose again, thinking on the words of her mothers.

Of course, Akel's tease just made Luleta light up. "Can we have more sisters?!" she asked excitedly, gaze darting between Pruu and Akel and the stars. Her hand followed as well, reaching up toward the sky. "Maybe that's them right now?"

Pruu chuckled lightly at Ali. "Like we said, they are flying, not falling. From what I've heard, the flying stars are not the ones we usually see, either. They come from.. well, I am not sure, but they are not the normal ones we always see."

Akel's tease had her covering her reaction with a cough. More daughters... Of course, Luleta was quick to chime in! That sounded like something Pyrhha would have said...Taking a breath, she rose to the challenge and grinned back at Akel. "It's always a possibility in Elzira's grace." She raised her hands to rest each one on a daughter's head. So sisters was one wish. "What would you like it to mean, Alizeh?"

Sisters? Ali looked at Luleta and squinted her eyes in thought. Having more like Lu would be fun. She could braid their hair and give them flower crowns as rewards for brave deeds. Of course the tease about growing taller was nice too. Alizeh wanted to get big like their mothers.

When Pruu put a hand on her head she smiled and looked up, first at her mother then up at the sky. Knowing that the stars were flying and weren't the usual stars made it better. It meant that there was no threat. "Lots of sisters! How about four!?" Surely if they had more sisters then their big family would be super close and she'd have more fun! Lu would always be her favorite sister though.

Akeldama blinked at the reactions of each of them to her teasing about receiving more blooms. When Alizeh blurted out the number four it made Akel laugh. So much so that she lost balance and fell to the ground on her bottom, though she wasn't that far from it to begin with since she was crouching down. "That's quite a lot." Could she even picture them with six daughter? Absolutely not! That was too much. Her and Pruu would be overrun!

She grinned and looked up at her wife. "And you, love? What would you want it to be?" Curiosity had taken over now.
