A Lot of Confusing Titles
Ceylinae had overheard something... strange, something that had confused her, leaving her young mind spinning with confusion. It was that of one of the extremists who had spoke of 'missing her sister' which had first didn't really mean anything to her, until she realized that it wasn't just a sister but a sister that she was missing. There were sisters, those who were all born from the Mother Tree, but there were also other kinds of sisters, those who were born to a mother who came to plead with a Mother Tree for a child of her own to raise. in turn that meant that there were two sorts of mothers as well?
There was the Mother Tree, who created their lotuses, as well as a mother who then raised them... but she and the two who were born from Elzira without anyone having pleaded for them had no mother and yet they were raised by the tribe as a whole... so were those women that raised them sisters, mothers, or both? Also, since the three of them were born together did that make Ceylinae and the others sisters or sister? It was very confusing! There were sisters, sisters, mothers, mother trees, and sister-mothers, all together in one tribe! She'd even heard some weird rumor about some sort of weird 'thing' called a brother but was told not to bother thinking about such a 'thing' because it wasn't going to creep up here.
Since they were all one tribe, one village, she shouldn't really get lost in the titles, right? What mattered the most was that they were family, one that should protect one another, and whether or not they were a sister, mother, or sister-mother, shouldn't be important. At the same time she couldn't help but to wonder about it. What about her then? Could she one day speak with the Mother Tree Elzira and have a child of her own? Would it then be her sister or her daughter? If it were her daughter, as well as the daughter of the Mother Tree, she'd still be the sister to the rest of the tribe... but only a sister to someone if Cey had two kids... right?
Lifting her hands up she rubbed the heels of her hands against her temples, "I think I'm giving myself a headache!" She declared to nobody in particular. This wasn't what was important, she should be thinking about things that were actually important, things that could effect their group, like how they could become stronger! Yet here she was making herself dizzy as her mind ran circles around the various titles that those in the tribe got. Which wasn't even taking into consideration that there were also ranks among the sisters as well, some of which were 'special' like the Mystics and Matron. Shaking her head Cey pushed up to her feet, this was all too much and a simple question to herself had just left her more confused and with more questions then when she started... so she wasn't going to think about it alone anymore.
She was going to go to one of her older sister and ask them. Surely they would know better and would be able to explain it in a way that made some sort of sense, right? Given that they were adults old enough to carry weapons surely that meant they would have all the answers? This thought in mind Cey headed off to find one of them, to get them to explain it, so that she could turn her thoughts back to important things. She just knew that if she didn't get it figured out that it would plague her forever and she'd get nothing else done!

The Climb
Ceylinae was up before the sun had fully risen, something that she was quite proud of. The fact that she was able to beat even the sun in waking up! It meant that she was surely up before everyone else in the village? At least that was her aim. She wanted to get up and out of the village so that she could begin the first stage of her training long before the rest of her sisters had started, wanting to be able to stay one step ahead of them at all times. Only then did she feel as though she was doing what the Great Mother Elzira expected of her... those rare times she woke up late made her feel terrible and drove her to push herself that much harder to make up for such a thing. Today wasn't one of those terrible days though, instead it was a grand day!
After tying back her long, deep pink dreadlocks into a thick braid she headed out at a light job, heading for the new place that she'd found a couple days ago that she'd been wanting to check out. There were a lot of great caves that she could explore, bluffs to climb, and were she able to make it to the top she would be able to see forever! Possibly far enough out that she would be able to spot all manner of interesting things. She had no desire to leave the island to battle against all the outsiders but she did want to drive off the glowy eyed weirdos that lived on Yael somewhere. If she could do that she would definitely have served Elzira and her family in the best way possible, right? At least that was what Ceylinae felt she had to do. Getting rid of that Tribe, taking over the whole of Yael, it was a goal that she could fight for, one she could be proud of, and one she hoped that Elzira would be proud of as well.
Was it enough though? That tended to always be the question that Ceylinae asked herself when it came to anything and everything that she did. She knew that some of her sisters and cousins wanted to go out into the world, to fight against the outsiders, against the traitors, to take back their homeland and the Great Mother that was called Aisha... but Ceylinae didn't that have that same sort of drive. Let her cousins go forth and take back the distant land called Chibale, but all Ceylinae wanted was Yael. To take this place, to make it exclusively theirs, it was her dream... but was that enough? Would the others see her as being weak or pathetic because she didn't want the entire world? It wasn't as though she meant to stop them but it wasn't her goal. She couldn't help but to fret over it, ever worried that if she didn't strive for the world that it meant she'd fall short of her potential.
She was of the first three Elaria born, there was a reason for that, and she didn't want to mess it up. She wanted to live up to the legacy that came with being 'one of the original three' no matter how much work that took. She was willing to put in the time and effort, she'd been doing so since she'd first heard the phrase, but even now she wasn't sure if she was doing enough.
Coming to a pause as she reached her destination Ceylinae looked up at the bluffs, giving them a once over, before smiling, "Alright! Here we go." She said, walking toward them, reaching out to rest her hands against the side of the mountain, running them along the surface to get a feel for all of the different protrusions that could be used as hand and foot holds. After a moment of close inspection she moved, starting her way up slowly but surely. Each placement of her hands and feet was important, to make sure that she found the right place to put her them, to make sure she wasn't about to grab hold of or step on something that was too weak or loose to hold her weight. It was something that involved a lot of careful planning, the higher up she got the more careful and precise she had to be, because each move might very well be her last.
There were a couple times when here hand tested a hand hold that gave way or her foot tapped against something looser then she'd like, spot she avoided, as she made her way ever upwards. It was a little slower going then she might like, but she knew that she couldn't force this without risking her life. She wasn't about to go down in history as the first Elaria to die, not in such a pathetic manner. Falling to her death? That was the absolute worst way to go if you asked Ceylinae. She'd rather die of old age after taking over Yael and making it a place that her family could roam freely without any worry of the outsiders getting underfoot where they didn't belong. She also wanted to die as the 'best Guardian and Limbara rider ever' as well she added after a moment of thought, a bit of a grin appearing for a moment before turning her full concentration once more to the climb.
It took some time but finally Ceylinae would find herself at the top of the bluffs, settling down there so that she could look over the expanse of the lands and oceans that lay before her. It was all so very beautiful from here, like nothing that one could see from down below. It made the job here, as well as the long climb, so very worth it. Shifting herself so that she was sitting cross legged, arms resting on her lap, she found herself thinking that she really should bring Naqenni out here. Not only to see the beautiful view but also to force her sister to endure the climb that came before. Nothing was more fun then pushing her a bit, to see if she'd rise to all the challenges that Ceylinae issued. It made things more interesting she thought to herself, letting her eyes sink closed for a moment, enjoying the breeze she felt, glad for it as it helped to dry to sweat that was clinging to her skin.
"I'm going to need to rinse myself off before I get too ripe." Ceylinae murmured to herself before her aqua eyes opened again, her many antennae giving a twitch. That could wait though, she wanted to enjoy the glorious view for a while longer, feeling that she'd earned it. She'd head out soon, back to her training, but for now this was nice.

Training Begins Anew
Ceylinae was sitting at the edge of the village, starring out over all the land before her, antennae twitching a bit. The festival had been rather enjoyable, with Naqenni, Ku, and herself all being able to take their flower buds and the nectar within first. It was a great honor, one befitting of the three of them since they were the first born of the Elaria. She gave a bit of a smile as she lifted a hand to her lips, touching them, still able to taste the nectar that she'd drank during the festival. It made her smile just thinking back to it, feeling a real boost. She only wished that it had boosted her confidence and not just her urge to train.
Not only train but she wanted to get to work on getting a weapon of her own as well. It would be something, wouldn't it? Being able to get her hands on a weapon would surely prove that she was a true assest to her people. Once she had a weapon she would be able to serve her people in a manner that none of her other sisters were able to do. There was always a chance that Naqenni might beat her to it when it came to obtaining a weapon, but she would be right there at her heels. She couldn't allow her sisters get too far ahead of her after all. If she did, if she fell too far behind, she might look like a laughing stock... and just the thought of that made her chest tighten with a jolt of worry.
No, no, it was alright... she would figure it out, she just had to work even harder, and see about talking with her cousins about a weapon. It helped that she knew what she wanted as a weapon and knew what it was that she wanted to do. She meant to be a bow wielding Guaridan, the sort that rode around on a powerful Limbara, one that she caught with her own two hands! It would take so much work to get such a creature, even a little one, so she should focus on her weapon first. Once she had a weapon in hand then she'd be ready to venture into the wilds of Yael, to seek out where the Limbara lived, and from there she could start to seek out the Limbara that was 'hers'. She knew that the beast was out there, hopefully a big, toothy one, one that had an attitude that would make her worth a worthy partner for Ceylinae.
Pushing up to her feet Ceylinae walking forward, climbing up onto an outcropping of rocks, using it as a booster to see out further then usual. Even from her heightened perch he wasn't able to see anything that would draw his attention. No sign of any Limbara, not that she thought there would be any this close to the village, and she didn't see any of her sisters either. It was a quiet day, maybe with people recovering from the festival still? If that were the case then that meant it was time for her to get moving. She would be able to take advantage of the fact that they were busy recovering to get a leg up on things, huh?
Giving a bit of a grin she hopped down off the rocks, landing on her feet in a nimble manner, before hurrying forward. She headed instantly for her favorite running path first. She would run some laps around the village first, to get herself warmed up, and from there she would start with more strenuous activities. She'd climb trees, jump across rocks, and maybe if she was ready for it she would see about scaling the rocks that gave her the best view of the world... or at least her world as it was currently. There was a lot for her to see where Yael was concerned. She wanted to know where everything was located, to make sure that the village was well defended and not at risk by those glowy eyed weirdos.
Were they a real threat though? The real threat might be the 'outsiders', not the glow eyed weirdos. They might come here, wanting to help the glowy eyed weirdos, and take out their village. She knew full well that her cousins had been banished to this island by the outsiders. What would happen if they learned that the Elzira had given life to the Elaria? Would they attack? It was altogether possible. They were banished here as a punishment for some sort of made up crimes from what she'd heard, if the outsiders learned that they were starting to thrive here they might want to take it all away. Something that Ceylinae wouldn't allow, meaning that she would need to get that much stronger so she was ready in case the outsiders showed up here.
This thought in mind she started to run a little faster, pushing herself to try to go for her best time when it came to her laps. She should also make a few more laps then she normally did as well, feeling that the running helped with her stamina as well as her breathe control. After her tenth lap she veered off the path she was running, down along, and started to race along toward where some of her favorite trees were located. She knew that the climbing of trees helped with her upper body strength, something that would be especially important for wielding a bow. Drawing a bow wasn't easy after all.
Heading up the tree she started toward the top, doing her best to get there as quickly as possible, and once there she sat down on one of the branches. She dragged in a deep breath, letting it slowly, and worked on slowing her heart beat. Once it returned to normal she looked around the area, enjoying the view for a moment, before she started down once more. From the trees she'd head toward where the rocky path was located, wanting to train on those next. She liked to jump from rock to rock, finding it to be a good method of training even if it carried a heavy risk of skinned hands and knees. It was a good agility course though, one that she found to be fun despite the danger. What were a couple cuts and bruises if it meant that she was getting stronger?
Grinning she set to the next leg of training, meaning to go at it for a while. She might train until a little before lunch time, get herself cleaned up, then come back for a meal. Once she'd had something to eat then she would relax a bit until it cooled down, then maybe do some swimming coming evening time. A good plan she thought to herself as she set to hopping across the rocks.

An Imp!
Ceylinae was doing something that was very unusual for her, that being her sitting down and actually enjoying the scenery. She blamed the place that she was sitting for that, her favorite vantage point at the top of the cliff that she often times climbed. It was beautiful up here, wasn't it? It allowed her to see on forever... or at least that was what it felt like. Even climbing up into the trees wouldn't allow a person to see what they could see from up here. It was worth the dangerous that one had to go through to get up here she thought to herself, her aqua eyes sinking closed as she enjoyed the breeze that was blowing today. It wasn't strong enough to worry her, but instead it was just the sort that would cool her off and keep her from overheating after her climb.
Along with the breeze there was the sound of... huh, what was that? Her antennae all gave a rather rapid twitch before her aqua eyes slid open, with her glancing around. What was that sound? Where was that coming from? Scooting to the edge of her perch she set to scanning the area, trying to figure out what the weird sound was, and when she spotted it her eyes went rather wide. It was an imp! She'd never actually seen one of those before! She'd heard about them before, but to see one of them, it was amazing! Just the luck over being able to see such a little beast caused her to squeak with delight, wanting nothing more then to tell Naqenni, Ku, and her other sisters all about this! They would be so jealous over her getting to see such a rare creature.
Her excitement was replaced almost instantly by worry though when she realized that the imp wasn't just running for its health, it was running for its life! There was a keldari slithering along after it at a rapid pace, looking at it like it was dinner. Shaking her head she called out, "Hey! Stupid snake! You leave that imp alone!" Her voice seemed to cause the serpent to slow down, though not for long since she was fairly high up. Giving a curse under her breath the girl swung herself over the edge of her perch, scrambling down as fast as she could without putting herself at risk of falling. It would be a terrible shame if the imp were eaten but it would be a greater shame if she were to fall and break her neck.
The moment that her bare feet touched the ground she was scrambling forward, grabbing up the first serviceable stick that she could find. It would have to work a makeshift weapon for now since she was still too young to have a real weapon yet. Giving what she hoped was a warrior's yell she took a swing at the keldari, smacking the creature on the side. Not the most well aimed shot but at least it seemed to cause enough pain to the serpent that it jerked back. The problem being that it then set to coiling up, hissing and baring its fangs at her. It was a sight that sent a chill up her spine, making her take a half step back. Uh-oh... maybe it was a bit of a mistake to battle such a large creature for the rights to the imp? Too late now she supposed because she'd already gotten between the two creatures.
As the serpent started forward toward her she took a couple swings, using the stick as though it were a sword. It wasn't the weapon that held her interest, not by a long shot. In fact, if she had the weapon that she wanted she'd be taking this beast out with exactly that, a long shot, from a bow. Since that was currently just a dream, her getting her hands on a bow, she would have to deal with the 'sword' that she'd scooped up off the ground. It was all she had so she was going to have to make it work for her. Not only for the sake of the imp but for her own sake as well. Keldari were venomous after all and she couldn't risk the thing biting her or all of this would be for naught.
Each of her swings seemed to be instantly dodge by the giant serpent, with it continuing to hiss at her, coiling up further and further, obviously looking for an opening in which to strike. As Ceylinae battled it out against the serpent the imp behind her sent to climbing it's way up the back of her leg, ducking itself into the pocket of her pants. It was obvious to the little creature that of the two fighters it was the Elaria had its welfare in mind. At least she didn't seem as though she was looking to make imp snacks.
The battle against the serpent continued, with it starting to attack back, snapping at her, and it was only by luck that one of swings lined up with one of the keldari's strikes. The strike landed in a manner that left the keldari dazed and confused. Ceylinae moved her free hand to touch her pocket where the imp was hiding, "Alright, hold on, little imp!" With that she turned on her heel and ran in the opposite direction of the serpent. It occurred to her, as she ran, that she was now in the same position as the imp was moments ago. Well, at least she was going to be faster! She'd been training daily by running laps after all, meaning that at least she was prepared for this!
Ceylinae didn't stop running until she was well within the boundaries of Zinris and she was certain that the keldari hadn't followed her. Even if the beast was made at her she'd like to believe that it wasn't that stupid. It would be its death if it came into a village filled with warrior women after all or so she believed. Coming to a halt she leaned over, hands resting on her legs, gasping for a breath, "Whew... seems we're safe, imp." She said, reaching into her pocket and took it out carefully. Giving the little beast a smile she said, "Come on, let's see checking you for injuries then I will get you something to eat."
It was something that got a chirp in response from the imp, something that made Ceylinae smile. Nodding her head she said, "Alright, sounds good." After putting the imp on her shoulder she headed in the direction of where she could get herself a meal. It was almost lunch time, so it was the best time to get the two of them something to eat. Here was to hoping that feeding the imp would be enough to win it over! Having an imp as a familiar would be the most amazing thing ever! Surely even her sisters would be jealous!

Growth Solo: The Bow Challenge
(( Ceylinae was called away from her training by some of her older cousins and was given the task of building her own weapon to prove she's more then just muscle. She did her best to complete the task that was given to her after only getting a bit of advice from the weapon smith. In the end it didn't turn out as she'd of liked. The weapon smith then offered to help her in a more hands of manner, trying to show her that asking for help doesn't necessarily mean that she's weak. Something she needs to take to heart in more aspects of her life. ))
It was a morning that seemed painfully long for Ceylinae and not just because she had been out training hard as she always did. In fact that was something that she'd only done for a small portion of her time before she was called in by some of the elders. It was exciting at first... but then she was made to wait. Standing in one spot for what felt like forever. What was she here for? What did they require of her? Had she not been training as much as they wanted her to? There was so much to worry about in general for someone her age but add in the fact that she was 'one of the first three' she was only that much more stressed out by it all. What if they had learned that she had slacked off to chat with Zayana in the midst of her training? What if they found out that she'd tried to take on a Keldari with a stick then was forced to retreat due to not wanting to get bitten. Had she made mistakes in doing those things? Did they think that she was slacking off? Where were they? Why would they call her in when they weren't even ready for her?!
Her mind was screaming, but on the outside Ceylinae was the picture of confidence. Being filled to the brim with false bravado was something important to her when she was around others after all. She didn't want anything to think that she was slacking off when that wasn't the case, she put her all into her training! Surely they must know that? Surely a couple of little side tracks here and there weren't going to strike her down and make it that much longer before she was able to be more then just a prentice? What if all of her sisters were noticed and chosen before she was? Not only Naqenni and Ku, but as well as the younger ones as well. It wasn't something that Ceylinae thought that she would be able to deal with. She would look like a fool in front of everyone, Elzira included, and people would question the legitimacy of her being one of the 'first three'.
Drawing in a deep breath Ceylinae held it in for a long moment before she let it out slowly in controlled manner. She couldn't allowed herself to get overwhelmed, not when she was standing near to where the elders were located. Looking weak in front of those in charge wasn't something that she could allow she told herself. With that thought in mind she shifted her body, standing up right, and glanced from side to side. Her antennae gave a little twitch as she worked on keeping her breathing and heart beat even. There was a reason that they had called her here today and be it either something good or something bad she would just have to deal with it. Well... deal with it if it was bad, possibly rejoice if it was something good?
Her antennae twitched again but this time because she sensed someone coming up behind her, something that caused her to turn on her heel. Instantly her eyes went a little wide as she saw one of the older cousins standing there. After a moment she gave a quick greeting of, "Good morning."
She was given a similar greeting in return before the reason behind the summons was soon given to her. It seemed that it was time for her to be challenged. They knew of her training and now was the time to test it out. She was given her challenge and soon enough she was alone again with the words of her older cousin bouncing around in her head. It was... well, interesting, not to mention a great challenge since it involved something that she'd never done before. She had to get herself a weapon by making it herself, to prove that she was more the just her strength, she had prove she was smart and ingenuous as well. Given that she had never made a weapon before, having only wielded a stick before in the past, she would need to get some advice, especially since the weapon that she wanted to make was far from a stick...
Turning on her heel Ceylinae was on her way in a rush to find some of her older cousins that she knew were capable of making weapons. She didn't want their help with the actual construction, feeling that would be seen as cheating, but some advice would be good. She'd have to see about what sort of materials she'd need, where it was best to find them, and the like. Of course by the time she had gotten all of the information from the weapon smith, information that the woman rattled off as though it were no big thing, Ceylinae felt instantly overwhelmed. There was so much to think about, from the type of wood, to the grain of the wood, how it was shaped, how all the pieces came together. There was just so much to it! There was a moment where she even found herself wondering if she should have chosen a weapon that was easier to make...
No, no! This was a test that was laid out before her by her people, she couldn't take the easy way out. She would find a perfect piece of wood, one that was completely straight and even, one that had a good grain to it that didn't show any weaknesses! That was step one to making herself the perfect bow. That thought in mind she hurried off, heading toward the forest to see out a young tree that would fit the bill. One that would be all that she needed but wouldn't be to difficult for her to cut down on her own. That wasn't something that she could ask for help with since procuring her own components seemed like cheating too. There was so much of this task that she knew that she had to do on her own! She had to prove herself to her cousins and her sisters after all.
She spent a lot of time looking for what she felt was the 'perfect tree' for her bow, perhaps too much time, but after going through several good trees, all of which she decided weren't good enough, she found one. It looked good, had a nice color to the wood, and looked healthy and strong. After a lot of work on Ceylinae's part she was able to cut it down, to sectioned out the piece she wanted, and carried all of it back with her to the sister that was in charge of making weapons. The wood that she didn't need she gave to her sister as thanks for the advice and quickly went to work on the bit that she kept for herself. The first step she'd been told was getting the heart wood out of the sapling, so that she could transform it into a bow. It was as she quickly learned a task that wasn't all that easy. Not even in the least bit. She had to remove it layer by layer with a sharp blade, being ever so careful so as not to ruin the piece of wood or cut herself, meaning that it was slow going.
From time to time her cousin asked her if she wanted any help, seeming to be working on a piece herself, but Ceylinae refused. Help would show her to be weak, she had to do this herself or else she wouldn't have been given the task, right? Once the bow's shape was to Cey's liking, with her feeling that it at least looked like a bow she was then off to find herself some cord, knowing that every bow needed a string or else how would she fire her arrows? It was a lesson learned in tying the cord just right as not once, not twice, but a few times the cord would slip, snapping back to strike Cey's hands, arms, and once her face. It made her want to swear... but she got the feeling that doing so near to where her cousin was located wouldn't be a good way to prove herself as one that could be relied on.
In the end the bow that she made was... crude? The bow itself appeared rough, threatening splinters, the cord was tied but she worried that it might slip, there was so much about it that just looked... wrong. She gave a sighing sound as she looked it over, wanting nothing more in the moment to just hide it. She could try again, right? It wasn't as though there was a time limit in which to make the bow. She hadn't been given one at least and it had been her first try. Surely if she tried again she could do better? Just looking at the bow in her hands nearly made Ceylinae panic and instantly had her questioning how to go about making a better bow the next time around.
"Is your bow done too, cousin?" The weapon maker asked of her, something that made Ceylinae jump before she whirled around, finding herself facing the older woman who was also holding a bow. It was a bow that was so much better then the one that Ceylinae that it almost made her want to hide it behind her back as though she were a youngling again.
"It's... terrible... I think I did everything wrong..." She said, dropping her gaze to the bow, her hands clutching it tightly.
The woman started to laugh, "Well, of course! It's the first time that you've ever made something like this, not to mention that you didn't really ask for much in the way of help. Little cousin you can't do it all by yourself, not on your first try especially. Now, how about you set that one aside and we see about making one together?" She offered, setting her current bow aside first.
"I... can't. It's my challenge, how do I prove that I am worthy of a weapon if I can't do it on my own?" She murmured in a quiet tone of voice, barely above a whisper as she set the crude bow down, feeling that much worse as it was set down next to the really nice one that her cousin had made in the same amount of time.
Giving a smile the woman reached out, ruffling Ceylinae's hair with her work roughened hair, and said, "Come on. I doubt that they expected you to make a perfect bow all by yourself in one go. Nobody could do that, even I had to learn from someone. Let's go, Ceylinae, let's make you a bow." She said, leading her over to where all of her supplies lay, and soon enough the two of them were working on a third bow, this time with Ceylinae working with more then just the advice that she'd only been able to half remember after it had all been given to her.
