Parent Journal Entry 1
11/11/10
Dear Journal,
Ciúin has taken quite well to the world outside the labs. Despite this, he goes on about finding the “perfect voice” again. I have no idea what this means and he never explains. This is the only time he gets defensive about his condition or about anything in general.
He is well behaved unless him and Bleez get into a tizzy. Those fights are never fun to get in the middle of. Bleez is usually the one that starts them, though she swears that it is Ciúin that causes her to fly off the handle. Either way, I have allowed her more time out of the house to settle her down. Though I’m not sure if this is the right thing to do, it’s the only option that seems to work. I fear I must give her “the Talk” before too much longer.
But, back to Ciúin! He is the most considerate, well-spoken, young gentleman I have EVER had the pleasure to meet. He is such a good kid, the exact opposite of Bleez. I know that’s not a terribly good thing to say, but Bleez is constantly defying my requests, even if they’re for her own good. Ciúin does anything I ask without question. He doesn’t back talk; really he doesn’t talk much at all. The only thing he’s truly demanding about is food, but that’s his Gluttony side.
I have a feeling Ciúin will be much less trouble than Bleez ever was on her best days.

Moira handed Ciúin a sheet of paper with various hand symbols on it.
“What’s this?” Ciúin asked in his usual, monotone voice. He looked from the sheet, to his mother, and back again; turning the paper over in his hands, not sure which side was up.
“This is ‘ow we’re going to teach you ‘ow to speak with others,” she smiled, already forgetting that Ciúin couldn’t understand what she was saying. Her son, however, stared at her in his usual apathetic way. Her memory came back to her and she laughed uneasily. This would be harder than she thought.
Moira paced back and forth as Ciúin stared at her, unblinking. How would she teach him if he couldn’t understand what she was saying unless his ears were under the surface of water? Water! That’s it! Moira snapped her fingers; the sudden sound caused Ciúin to blink. “I’ve got an idea,” Moira expressed to herself, more than anything. She smiled at her Gluttony son and moved to pick the large toddler up. He didn’t move, thinking she had something important to tell him… or show him.
Lifting the big spawn, she carried him to the kitchen. Placing him on a tall stool, she started to fill the sink with water. Ciúin’s quick mind followed where this was going. “I’m to learn this?” he turned the sheet so that it was facing his adopted mother, though it was upside-down.
She chuckled and nodded, scooting the stool with him on it over to the sink, all but effortlessly. He was a solid toddler that was larger than some children years older than him. It was the Gluttony blood in him that made so big.
Moira tilted his head back into the sink-full of water, the water coming up just above his ears. The dramatic change from muffled to perfect hearing always brought a fleeting smile to Ciúin’s lips. His normal apathetic look was soon to follow, however. Moira turned the chart so that it was upright and facing him so he could read it.
“Okay,” she began, confident that he could understand her now. “The top section is letters, while the bottom section is numbers. Letters form words, which is what we speak.”
Ciúin internally sighed, duh. He knew what letters and words were. He even knew what numbers were. Though, he had to admit to himself, he didn’t know how to spell or count or what the letters even were.
“Now, repeat after me,” Moira continued, “A.” She formed her hand into a loose fist with her thumb resting on the outside. Ciúin looked at her then to the sheet, and then imitated the motion. “Good! Now, B.” The same hand opened into a flat palm, her thumb coming to rest across it. Again, Ciúin looked from his mother to the sheet, then imitated the gesture. They continued until they had all the letters done.
“Very good, Ciúin! You’re a very fast learner!” Moira smiled broadly. This was going so well! He already had all the letters and hand motions memorized. This was going far better than the red-haired Irish woman had thought. “Now let’s start on the numbers!” Ciúin nodded, understanding as Moira filled the sink to the proper level. Much of the water had already leaked out, despite the stopper in the bottom. “These are far easier,” Moira explained after she finished filling the sink again.
The rush of water over his head gave Ciúin a sense of renewed energy. His wings, however, shuddered at the feeling. The majority of his blood came from the water-based demon, Torekane, but his wings were part of the angel, Coleth’s fire-based blood. His wings always had that sort of reaction to water; sometimes it was a bit annoying.
“1,” Moira started, holding up a solitary index finger. Ciúin mimicked. “2,” she held up the next finger. Again, Ciúin mimicked. “3,” this time she held out her thumb. Ciúin hesitated one moment, then followed the motion. Odd; he thought that they were going make a different movement. “4” she pulled her thumb back in and held up her four fingers. Ciúin hesitated again. This was indeed an odd pattern; but he followed anyway.
They went on, Ciúin actually having more problems with the numbers than with the letters. The numbers didn’t seem to follow a pattern that was easily grasped. But they struggled through it and Ciúin eventually memorized the numbers as well.
“Now, when you combine letters,” she signed as she spoke, “you make words. Your name is spelled C-i-ú-i-n.” She signed each letter as she came to it. “Later, I’ll teach you how some words are their own signs.”
Ciúin nodded in understanding as he pulled his soaked head out of the water. He let his hair drip onto his back, his wings shuddering again. Moira smirked, grabbing a towel to dry the toddler off. “Mother,” Ciúin began, “thank you.” He signed each letter. Indeed, he was a fast learner.

sevenofsevenmule It would be on a Saturday that you open your mail box (if you have one) and notice there is a rather thick envelope stuffed in there. There is no postage stamp and a very vague return address. But you recognize the font and the company's name. 'Seven of Seven Inc' scrawled in majestic font across the upper left hand corner. As you open it, you may strangely find yourself drawn to the letter, there is a mass of notes inside. They read as follows:Letter Congratulations! You have managed to succeed in raising your child. (IE: Not killing him or her or getting killed yourself. Haha we kid of course.) We would like an update from you on the following: Guardians Name: Child's Name: Sin: Virtue: Gender: Current Attitude: Likes: Dislikes: Any abnormal growths: (if any, example: Feathers molting, horns growing larger, scars ) Current hair style: Current clothing preferences: Dominant celestial trait: (The sin or virtue) Please summarize in your own words how difficult or easy it was taking care of your child. Did you manage to care for them in a kindly fashion? Or were you forced to discipline them? As well do not be alarmed if you suddenly find your child achieving a massive growth spurt in the next little while. We are finding that the children from our facility have strange growing patterns and are rather unpredictable. Although please let us know if anything unexpected occurs. Sincerely the technicians from Seven of Seven Inc. Ps. Please just leave your letter back in your mail box one you have completed it our courier will pick it up. Thank you. You would notice the letter seems overly friendly...strange since the scientist were so ...cold before.
(Just take the from Guardians name to Dominant Celestial trait and pm it to the mule, the summarization doesn't have to be long just have fun with it.)

Parent Journal Entry 2
11/26/10
Dear Journal,
Ciúin was extremely easy to take care of, despite his inability to hear properly when his ears are above water. He is considerate of the rules and very well-mannered. He is quite the opposite of his "sister," Bleez. The only time he seems to get frustrated or angry in general is when he is interacting with her.
He is a fast a learner and took to sign language with amazing ease. So far he knows all the numbers and letters and has even managed to commit many words to memory. He is trying to learn how to read lips, though I think that might be a bit beyond his current skill level.
Despite his disability, his speech is remarkable, especially for his age. He says he learned the "proper" way to speak when he was in the labs. I'm not entirely sure what this means.

Parent Meeting Worksheet
1: What is the name of the parent that you picked to study this time around? The only name I was given, was Coleth.
2: What is the Virtue or Vice of the creature? Or was the one your studying a Neutral? Or is it Reshmi who doesn't fall into any of those categories? Coleth is a virtue of Liberality.
3: What made you pick this person? Was it because you were more curious about them? Or was it something else? My mother suggested that I choose him over the Gluttony demon, Torekane.
4: From the photo do you see anything right away that reminds you of you? Answer Yes or No. Yes
5: Name at least one thing you have in common with the one that your studying up on today. My hair is red and the same texture as his.
6: From the reference material do you find that it sounds as though you have anything in common with this creature that isn't something physical? Answer Yes or No. Yes
7: If you answered yes, what is it you have in common with the one your studying up on today other then physical traits? I like fire. I have not been given permission to try to control it yet.
8: What is it that you find the most interesting the one your studying today be it something physical or perhaps a skill that they might have. Coleth's wings can be retracted into his back. I wish my wings could do that. They always twitch when they get wet.
9: If you had one question you could ask of this person what might it be? How do you make your wings go into your back and can you teach me?
