The large, normally plodding clawed feet of the Gluttony/Liberality spawn moved uncharacteristically quickly through the crowd of people milling about outside of the water park. This was his first visit to such a place. He had only read about the rides and was intrigued by the fact that water was used to propel a being down a slide. And to have many different rides based on this simple mechanic caught his curiosity more than he'd admit.

"Ciúin," Moira chimed, grabbing a hold of the large child's arm to get his attention. She used sign language to explain to him that he needed to stay close to her until they at least got into the park. The red-haired Irish woman's plan was to let him loose on the rides after she found the quietest corner she could to read and sunbathe. She was certain he'd be safe inside the park, but outside, she didn't want to lose him.

His near-unblinking eyes scanned the crowd absently as they stood in line to get tickets. He didn't see anyone he knew, then he wasn't really looking either. He was just happy his "sister" wasn't here. She'd find a way to ruin this. Couple times his wings twitched in anticipation to the water. The one annoying thing about his sunflower-looking wings: they hated water and always shuttered whenever they got wet.

"Come on, sweetie," Moira cooed and she took hold of his hand and guided him inside the gates. His two-toned eyes widened at the sight of all the rides as they walked by them, on their way to the wave pool. His mother's attention switched from trying to find a spot to set their things to focusing on him when his swaying tail accidentally bumped her leg. He hadn't noticed, though; he was too busy looking at everything. She chuckled to herself and continued to look for a decently sunny place to lounge.

The park itself was packed; hot day with some special event going on was causing everyone to scramble to the area. It took some doing, but Moira finally found a patch of ground she approved of. She let go of Ciúin's hand and started to set up her lounge chair and beach towel.

A tug came on her gym shorts that covered her swimsuit, accompanied with an, "Excuse me," from her son. "Yes?" she turned, facing the boy and his bi-blue eyes as she finished straightening the towel.

"May I go play in the pool?" he asked, both vocally and with his hands. Moira smiled and nodded. A small grin graced the ever-apathetic looking child's face as he headed towards the currently-motionless wave pool and its mass of people. The display only caused Moira to smile wider. This was a good idea to bring him here.

In stark contrast to Moira, Cat was beginning to question what on earth he had been thinking when he had decided that it was a good idea to bring Damien here. It had merely popped into his head when he was thinking of things to do, probably from an advertisement he had heard or read somewhere, and when he had suggested it, Damien hadn't said no. Of course he hadn't said no, Cat mentally chided himself as he watched Damien paddle about near the water's edge; he was a freaking Humility kid. The hippogriff had to fight the urge to facepalm; it would certainly make him receive weird looks from his customers.

Damien, while noticing none of his guardian's self-criticizing, was not precisely enjoying himself as much as he could have been at, say, the beach. Whenever he went to the beach, in part because he went there when the sun was just barely hanging in the sky, there was almost no one there. And if they were there, they either left him alone or were interesting. These people were not. At all. They were loud and fat and obnoxious, always yelling and getting in his way. It was only with massive self-control that he had stopped himself from driving a claw into some of the more annoying ones. And that self-control was wearing thin; it was only so long that he could be satisfied with grinding his teeth and swearing.

And then one more kid stepped on his foot, and he was the straw that broke the camel's back. With a yell, Damien turned and spotted the boy slipping into the crowd without a backwards glance, or even a 'sorry'. It was easy to follow him, given his weird-looking yellow wingthings and tail. The angry spawn pushed and elbowed his way through the people in hot pursuit, snarling at anyone who protested. He had had enough of playing nice.

When he finally caught up to the boy, he yelled out "Hey!!" and grabbed him by the shoulder, spinning him around. Before the other boy could react, Damien stomped his foot hard, followed with a yell of "That hurts, huh?! So when you do it, say you're sorry! Stupid."

The small boy stood panting for a few seconds as his rage evaporated, and already began regretting his actions. His claws itched to drive into his skin, but not here; the blood would get into the water and everyone would freak out, and he'd get into trouble. Plus Cat would probably tell Fifth, and then his father would find all of his other scars... Damien shuddered. He didn't want to think about that.

Ciúin was surprised, to say the least. He'd NEVER been assaulted before, mostly because he was larger than most children his age! His emotions swirled with surprise and anger. But his usual apathetic expression gave no indication of what he was feeling at the moment. This small... Wrath spawn? He was guessing. This smaller one definitely had markings similar to his sister's and if the display of anger was any clue, he was most likely a Wrath spawn.

His foot ached slightly and he had no idea what this boy was screaming about. Ciúin let out an audible sigh and pointed to his ears, shaking his head. A slight twinge of irritation shown on his face for a split second before it was gone again. He began to sign and speak to explain, "I cannot understand what you are trying to tell me."

He didn't want to go into further detail right now. If this kid was anything like Bleez, he was sure to spend as little time around this kid as he possibly could. Without another word, Ciúin turned back around and tromped off towards the water.

Of course, as soon as he had assaulted this stranger, Damien began to feel the waves of guilt crashing over him. He winced as the other child turned around, expecting to be yelled at, or worse, start crying; but surprisingly enough, neither came. Instead, the boy just looked mildly irritated and gestured to his ears in a negative fashion, thoroughly confuzzling Damien. When he began moving his hands, the gears finally began turning; did he just stomp on a deaf kid's foot? His horror grew deeper as the kid walked away; he was really a terrible person. He had to apologize.

Moving quickly between the fat bodies of the other people. Damien rushed up and caught the kid's shoulder, turning him around. The apology was on his lips before he remembered; duh, retard., he couldn't hear. So Damien was forced to stammer uselessly for a second or two before he spoke with as much diction as he could muster. "I'm sorry. I was just irritated; I should not have done that. I feel bad." He smacked himself in the head lightly for good measure, trying to convey the concept of his guilt, and then searched mentally for a way to repair the relationship he had already messed up. "I'm Damien. What is your name?"

Another audible sigh escaped Ciúin as he turned his bulk around to look down at the same child from earlier. Now what? Ciúin's near-unblinking eyes slowly peered down at Damien as he sputtered something Ciúin couldn't understand. It wasn't until Damien hit himself that the Gluttony spawn gained some inkling of the apology.

The second part of what was being said was a little easier to decipher. "Ciúin," he stated, spelling it out in sign language as he spoke. His voice was flat, despite the constant interruptions. "I am going to the water." Another sigh and an offer, his Liberality getting the better of him, "Do you want to join me?" His speech was slow, careful to make sure that the other spawn could understand what he was saying. Almost immediately after asking, though, he began to regret his offer.

Now that Damien understood that this kid was deaf, he was both a lot less irritable - at least towards him - and much more focused. Shoving a bratty seven-year-old to the side, he peered intently at the boy's hand signs, trying to figure them out. Between the muffled verbal speech of the other spawn and the signs, it took him a moment until... "S-S-See-you-in? See-youn? Is that right? Huh. Interesting."

"Huh? Oh, uh... Sure,"
he stuttered, surprised by the offer. Damien shuffled awkwardly by the people surrounding him, trying to keep up with the kid. He could feel the tension between them suffocatingly, and fidgeted a bit before posing another question, being sure to speak loudly, clearly, and with accompanying hand gestures. "So, uh, you're spawn, right? What combination are you?"

Ciúin watched the signs of the other kid. They weren't what he was used to, so it took him a bit longer to figure out what he was trying to say, but he eventually got it. "I am half Gluttony demon and half Liberality angel. You are part Wrath demon, yes?" The whole reason he was a little tense around Damien was because of this solitary fact. Bleez, Ciúin's sister was also half Wrath and the two of them did not get along so well.

He plodded along until he came to the water, which he thanked silently. This would help him converse with the other kid, hopefully. He hopped in, immediately flipping on to his back and floating. "This will help him hear you." He offered no further explanation, as if it were common knowledge.
