The crisp winter air was fragrant with the hard work of busy hands and bustling avenues. Everywhere one turned shone bright with new goods and local wares that shone bright in the sunlight of a temperate day. It seemed everyone had come out for the festivities, including one such child who had wandered from a nearby residence to investigate the goings on. Of course that was only to placate an overprotective sister who had pushed her out the door and followed at a length. Now said sister had vanished from sight, and although knowing she would not be far away, Mimosa found herself a very awkward duckling in the middle of an active lake. Literally on the edge of the waters, she had retreated to a small pond and settled there, watching people walk by as she tried to formulate just what to do.
The girl clasped the ruffles of her dress tightly and fidgeted with the lace as she took a look around. Surely she couldn't be the only ugly ducking amongst all the noticeably more normal looking Gaian denizens.

Ciúin, wrapped in layers of clothing to ward off the chill air, plodded along in his normal, apathetic way. His mother, Moira, had set up a booth to sell her prize winning flowers and various sewn articles. She always attended this vendor fair and now that she had two children, she didn't see a reason to stop. But, since she had not gotten a babysitter for Ciúin, and his sister was never home anymore, he was forced to join her. Currently he was off walking around. He had been bored... and hungry, just sitting next to his mother. And the weird looks he and his mother kept getting was a tad annoying.
He sighed audibly as his clawed feet clicked on the pavement. He wasn't a fan of the cold. He liked warm. It also seemed really dry out. He didn't like that either. And this noise? Not that he could understand anything that people were hollering at one another, but sheesh, did they have to be so loud about it?
Veering off the path when he spotted a body of water, his pace picked up. He hadn't snagged any food yet, but the allure of water was too enticing to ignore. He paused, though, when he saw someone sitting at the water's edge, all alone. Carefully, he approached the girl, keeping his eyes on her in case she addressed him first. When she seemed not to have noticed his arrival, he cleared his throat, "Hello."

The voice caused her to start and turn to look up at him. He appeared to be around her own age, which brought some comfort, and she felt a small smile tug at her lips as she lowered her gaze. ". . .Hello. . ." she echoed back at him, venturing a brief glance back up at him. ". . .I-I'm Mimosa. . .You?"

The Gluttony/Liberality boy watched Mimosa's lips intently. He was learning how to read lips, since it was the only way he would be able to understand her above water. He mimicked her mouth movements, figuring out her name, Mimosa. He smiled back, awkwardly, "My name is Ciúin."

She noticed the lip movements right away. The girl inclined her head slightly and watched him closely as he mirrored what she had said, only without really speaking. It came off as odd - but it wasn't difficult to see he was someone like her...somewhat...and being she hadn't met many of those, she wasn't inclined to judge. This was especially due to her own combination of characteristics, sloth and the ever graceful patience.
Patting the ground beside her, she scooched over slowly to make room for him. ". . .Glad to meet you. . .It's a nice day. . . A-Are you here alone. . .?"

Ciúin imitated the movements again. His unblinking eyes watched Mimosa like a curious animal as she patted the ground. Cautiously he moved forward, pretty sure she was asking him to sit next to her. He plopped down, unceremoniously, next to her. His Gluttony blood made him much larger than most spawn his age. "Am I alone? No. My mother is at her booth."
He dipped his bare, monstrous claws into the water, momentarily breaking eye contact with the girl to watch the ripple in the water. A small smile broke the usually expressionless face.

The girl nodded as he responded and watched his way as he started playing with the water. He really seemed to enjoy it, for all it was, and she felt inclined to join. Slowly her tail uncurled and the feathers primped and spread before daintily dipping the very ends into the water as well. Ripples cascaded from the tips of the fluffy extensions, and brought a smile as her ripples collided with his, only to make more ripples from the reverberation. ". . .It's nice. . .isn't it?"

He watched contently as the ripples collided. He loved water, anything about it, except ice, it was too cold. Snow was kinda cool, though. He sat silently, trying to zone out the noise behind him, until he thought that Mimosa had said something, it definitely sounded closer. He slowly turned his head so he could see her face. "I am sorry, did you say something?"

"It's nice. . .the water I mean. . .It's nice and cool." The ripples cascaded outward as the feathers twitched and fluttered, making tiny pinpoints of water form and scatter all over the surface. She soon withdrew her tail to brush it dry as she looked around, watching a few people pass by. "There's so many. . .What do you think they're. . . like?"

Ciúin watched and repeated her words to himself again. "Yes, the water is nice.. His gaze followed hers after she spoke. "I do not know what they would be like. Are they saying anything important?" He looked back to Mimosa, honestly curious.

The girl observed the people for a moment. This was a rare thing she was good at - partially due to her slow nature. She watched every person with great care to note detail, to note the way they looked around, and especially how they reacted if their gaze should happen upon her. Granted, she couldn't hear what most of them were saying from this distance, but their facial expressions got the gist across at least marginally. "I think they might. . .but I'm not sure. We. . .are apparently unique." Her brow furrowed marginally before she turned to him. "Are there. . .many like us? Are we strange. . ?"

His bi-colored eyes watched her carefully as she spoke. It wasn't until she had finished speaking and he fully comprehended what she was saying that he answered. His tone was slow and devoid of any emotional response, "My mother says we are very different. We are part angel and part demon; so we are good and evil, I guess." He shrugged, not seeing a problem, he'd read about how evil humans could be.
