The holidays are almost upon us, and so is HPGoG's next term! This is a long, repetitive message, which means it's very important!
House elves, if you're still waiting on getting sorted, I just wanted to remind you all that the sorting hat will close on December 19th. If you don't get sorted by then, don't worry, it will re-open in January for early sortings.
Would-be-professors of magic will be happy to know that The Staff Room is accepting teacher applications once again. A few teachers have already applied! Classes begin on January 4th.
The Hogwarts Express has arrived at King's Cross Station to pick up students for the new term. Don't skip the ride to Hogwarts! You'll miss out on a chance to make headway in our newest contest! The Hogwarts Express will close December 14.
This brings me to my next announcement: Guild Heads have already begun preparations for our holiday event at the start of Winter Term. If you have an idea or services to contribute to make our event truly grand, let us hear it over at our Suggestions, Feedback, & Questions thread! Our events are only as awesome as our guild members make it.
Finally since I sent the Guild Announcement, I'll just remind you of a few new threads you should look at:

I need you to check the Filing Cabinet as soon as possible and make sure you're in the right spot. This is very important. If your name is listed wrong (due to a namechange or our mistake) please PM me immediately. Before you PM me for anything else make sure you check the date that list was last updated. The post totals may be a little different now. But if you were a member before that list came out (and you're not listed or you're in the wrong House) you need to notify us immediately. Otherwise you'll keep getting a bunch of annoying PMs.
There are a few other new threads that have popped up:
The Trophy Room is the collection of all the guild's achievements (including Top Posters and House Cup Winners). It's also the only thread in the White Tomb where students can post (role-play).
The Hogwarts Monthly is now officially re-opened. If you want to join the staff, visit the Editors Office.
Before I end this message, here's a Heads Up: You might want to re-visit your Common Rooms. I think Nearly Headless Nick began a revolution.

Ahem.
Well the Start of Term event will begin later this week, and the Express is soon approaching the school.
Now, applications for those interested in teaching for Winter Term 2010 are still being accepted. Please see here for information on applying.
Classes still available include Potions and Herbology!
Also, it seems a few of our Special Student Positions are open.
If you are interested in a position (Dueling Club Instructors, Game Master, or Lead Dueling Instructor) please PM me as soon as possible and I'll discuss it with you.
Finally, the first part of our Winter festivities are already up: sign up to participate in the Gift Exchange before it's too late.

It seems that the deadline for the January issue of the Hogwarts Monthly is fast approaching and there are not enough writers!!!
Well if you have something interesting (guild or HP related) to share, why not stop by the Editors Office and volunteer to write something for this month's issue!
Thanks to the wonderful editor, Lorrieta, the Monthly is up and running, but it's survival depends on your helping hands!

I'm a bit late, I know. Had to celebrate the New Year with a few old friends....that's a story for another time. wink I'd like to officially begin Winter Term 2010. What better way to celebrate than by taking classes? If you haven't signed up for any, there's still time! A list of available classes can be found here. If you're interested in teaching, we will be accepting teachers' applications until January 24. The Head Elf, Alicia, (IceeWitch) would like me to inform the house-elves their class will be opening next Thursday. She's in school and can't get the class up before that time. Don't forget about the Hour Glasses. Points for this event as well as the recent Hogwarts Express trip will be added within the next week. I'd like to congratulate
Lorietta and the Hogwarts Monthly Staff are at work publishing our next issue for the Monthly! She still needs writers, and if you're looking for a good way to show guild pride (and be remembered forever in the Monthly Thread) then you need to stop by and see if you can help out!
Finally (from the Mod Squad): There are still openings in many of our Special Student positions. For those members who are looking to get more involved in the guild, this is the perfect way! If you're interested contact me or post in the SFQ.
Don't forget to check here often for updates from the Heads!

To my eager house-elves!
Early Sorting (after a small delay) has finally begun! Please make sure you are eligible before posting your test answers. I hope you get the House you want. If you don't, just remember they're all great!
The Filing Cabinet will be updated on February 1, after Early Sorting is completed.
Also I would like to remind teachers to allow the newly sorted members access to their classrooms for the remainder of the term. It is your choice whether they must complete the previous lessons or not. I would suggest any new additions to your classroom just pick up where the rest of the class is. Any questions or comments feel free to PM me (unless it's about sorting, then PM IceeWitch, Head Elf)

Your Headmaster here. Yes, I know I haven't been seen in ages (this time there was no disappearance!).
Fortunately, with the way Winter Term was moving there wasn't much for me to do. However, I have a feeling we're Springing into Action for Spring Term 2010! (my cheesy line of the month)
So a few announcements (and one extremely important!)
The End of Term is fast approaching! There are less than two weeks left for classes! Teachers should start preparing finals!
As it stands, Slytherin is on paced for another House Cup to add to their streak! (This is starting to become tradition). Dueling Club will be reopening today, so there's another way to earn house points besides studying hard and sucking up. wink
Obviously since the end of classes is fast approaching, the End of Term is also quite near! However, we have not begun our End of Term festivities. To keep up with tradition, there will be something opened up no later than Feb 20. What that something is I don't know; however, Oshenukhar (shout out!) has already given some great ideas. Why not go over and help? There's less than five days left to plan something good!
Also the Heads of House have recently posted "post totals". If you're wondering where you stand on the activity list (and for the Top Poster contest) go check the Filing Cabinet in the Care-Taker's Offices subforum.
As a reminder, the Hogwarts Express will leave on March 1. Regular Sorting will begin soon after (date to be announced)!
