One of the ways you can earn house points in this guild is by posting lots! At the end of each term we reward houses who post the most. Here's how it works: at the start of each term, I will take a head count of all current students and their current post numbers. When the term ends, I will take another count, and calculate the totals each student made during the term. House points are rewarded to the house that makes the most posts as well as the most posts per student (averaged). But house points aren't all you can win! At the end of this term, we'll reward the top posters from each house with a prize.
Top Student Poster of his House will get 10,000g!
Top Student Poster of the Entire School will get a Thank You Letter!
This means that if you're declared the top student poster, you'll win a Thank You Letter & 10k in gold! Be warned, this contest does not excuse you from any of the guild rules. If I catch anyone spamming meaningless posts in this guild to boost his post count, he will be disqualified from the contest. With that said, I wish you all good luck, and good posting!
Important Note: If I missed any names, please inform me immediately. This contest only applies to current Hogwarts students from the start of Winter Term. Early Sorted students during midterm will be added to next contest.

Just the posts for that term. All of the posts each person has ever made would give those who joined the guild earlier an unfair advantage. It says in the first post that it is calculated at the beginning and end of each term and then subtracted to get the number of posts for the term.

Quick update... due to certain count innaccuracies, early sortees cannot be added to this post count (unless I can figure out some kind of loophole to make it fair).

I'd rather feel bad for the Hufflepuffs. While none of them dissappeared, they were ridiculously inactive as a whole compared the Ravenclaws this time around. Just look at those post numbers. crying Even though a bunch of Ravenclaws got exed they still posted a megaton! O_o
Edit: Oh, and congrats on 2nd place! You gonna try for 1st for Spring? I think you might have some 1st year competition this time :O

Also, a question: Does the count start when each term begins? (ie posts in between terms don't count).
If the answer to that is a yes, then what day does the count start exactly? When the Hogwarts express returns? When classes start? Start of term feast?

For Winter term we started the count as soon as the Express started coming to Hogwarts, and then the count ended about a day before the Express home was supposed to end.
Spring term will start differently. This time the count will start when the Start of Term event is scheduled to begin. ...in theory, the count will end after the End of Term event/feast thingy...

I think the Huffies problem is that we don't get enough new members sorted into our house. Which hurts us because old active members eventually become inactive and disappear. sad

That's just not true. For two reasons: the way sorting is done. Sorting is maybe 80% based on the test; the other 20% is based on the population in each House. (5% from the total population). This means we evenly sort as much as possible. Take the most recent sorting for example. All Houses got 2 new first years; one House had to get three. In other sortings there have been times when two houses would get three members, one house would get two members, and another house would get four members. That's because if a person's test score is highly in favor of Slytherin, we can't just put them in Ravenclaw (where they have practically no points). We make the sortings as even as possible, but fair. (I might also add that Hufflepuff was the only House to get two members in the last Early sorting) The second reason is based on the lists. The Hufflepuff Student List is the most maintained student list in the guild. So most of your "inactive" members have been banned if Juni feels there's no way they'll be contributing any time soon. We try to keep the entire dormitory population around the same in each House (which isn't easy because we have to put the newly sorted in their best House possible). This is probably the fifth time I've heard this complaint in the last couple of months (each from a different House). I thought I'd explain in a bit more detail the Sorting process.
