Sebastian gave another affirmative nod as he waited for the strike to happen, standing ready to act in the event something happened. The grunts were immediately surprised as Quena’s small body ricocheted off them like a pinball, the grunt holding Rummy even more started as he was struck with a fierce blast of electricity directly to the face. ”AUUGHH!” He screamed, immediately dropping his hold on Rummy to throw his hands to his face in pure pain. The Leafeon chirped in surprise as well, falling to the ground rather roughly as he was temporarily stunned himself. Not from Quena’s attack, but simply from the man screaming and the rough drop. Soon though he found himself chirping again in surprise as ribbons suddenly wrapped around his form, starting to yank him in the direction of Sebastian and Deuce, a grin returning to his face at the sight of his trainer and friend.
A nearby grunt though watched as his colleague was taken down, stunned surprise shifting to rage as he snatched a pokeball from his belt. ”Not so fast!” He shouted, stomping down on the ribbons and earning a sharp yip of anger from the Sylveon who released Rummy to free up his appendages. The grunt called out the pokemon in question, the Druddigon looming a moment before directing its gaze at a scrambling Rummy. Its nostrils flared as it gave a roar, a foot raising up in order to try and stomp the Leafeon down.
"Rummy!" Sebastian shouted at the sight, immediately rushing forward and snatching the Leafeon out of the way seconds before the red-headed dragon’s foot came down. The man stumbled and then promptly fell from the aftershock of the stomp. Unconsciously, he curled up, making sure to shield Rummy as he looked up at the Druddigon as it turned his focus on the pair, roaring again in agitation as he encroached on them preparing another attack. Sebastian squirmed, curling up further and shutting his eyes, making sure that at least Rummy was safe. He heard the sharp cry of Deuce along with a grunt hitting the ground before the air sizzled with heat. Flinching, he heard the Druddigon give a delayed painful roar before toppling backwards and hitting the ground with a thud, shaking the ground underneath him in the process.
Sebastian opened an eye up, glancing first at the fallen Druddigon and then in Deuce’s direction. It was… evident what exactly he’d done. Maybe teaching him Hyper Beam had it’s upsides...

And speaking of grooming pokemon, Leon seemed to notice Nova's.... Miltank lick hair situation, and offered to try and fix it. "Ooh, that reminds me Leon! I recently got a pair of Furfrou while I was in Lumiose, and they're going to need some attention soon, knowing how fast their fur grows.... Would you mind grooming them and teaching me a few basics? That way I can at least keep them trimmed nice until you're free." She asked sheepishly. She still knew she probably shouldn't have taken them on; she has so many pokemon already, but she couldn't help it. She adored furfrou and their customizability.
Atona was patiently awaiting the results of the rapidash race he had bet on in Isis' stead. He had been accumulating a decent number of tokens over time, and when his first place ticket came in, it was just the tip of the iceberg, because soon familiar warm hands covered his eyes and insisted that he guess whose they belonged to. Atona had been slightly startled at first, not having expected anyone to approach him and so deep in concentration with the games that Fynx's sudden presence had surprised him, but he wasn't complaining. Giving a warm chuckle, Atona brushed off her paws. "Hmm.... Is it.... Isis?" He joked with a smile. "No wait.... It's Santa, right? Oh wait, wrong season." He smirked, turning to the blue and white Delphox. "Hello Fynx." He said at last with a knowing smile. "What brings you to the fair? Did Rose come too? Once they were all nicely seated at the table and had a chance to resume conversation, the topic went right to what Leon was trying to talk about before the aggravated Eevee burst out and caused some issues. Zero and Nova simply placed their orders while the raven-haired male let out a Vulpix with dark blue fur, and a nice, studded collar around its neck, though if what he was gathering was correct it was simply something from the previous owner. He quirked a brow when he mentioned them not wanting them back, but simply shrugged as he made room for Ren and the food arrived; for the trainer and his pokemon, a slice of cheesecake and pumpkin pie respectively.
About that point, Leon addressed Zero directly, bringing him up to speed on Ren's history, noting that he'd won a few contests in the Hoenn region. "Really? I've... dabbled in-" He glanced off to the side as he prepared to offhandedly explain, but before he could advance any further Isis suddenly cut in, happily specifying his experience in the realm of contests. He chuckled a bit and rubbed his temple as she corrected herself after a moment, before she asked if he'd ever went up against Ren before. "Oh, no, obviously not." He noted, picking up the glass of water next to him and nearly taking a sip, before remembering he needed to lower his mask first. "Like I said, I only opened for the Master-level back when my dad ran the contest hall. I couldn't actually compete in contests back then, let alone at the Master Rank, but it got the crowd ready to go at least." He simply shrugged and wiped his mouth, before taking a bite out of his cheesecake. "Besides, it wasn't that amazing, honestly."
Immediately as he said that, however, he felt something pressing against the side of his head. Glancing over to the source, he saw Nova, outlined in psychic energy and chewing on the pumpkin pie she had on her fork, holding her hand onto his head as he suddenly felt himself recollecting one of those opening performances he'd mentioned, in vivid detail. "W-Wait, Nova-" Realizing what she was doing after a moment, Zero raised his hand to stop the Gardevoir, even if, realistically, there wasn't anything he could do in actuality to that effect, but before he could the memory played out before the two trainers seated across from them. Thanks to how lucid the memory was in his mind, she was able to fiddle around with the perspective and viewpoint a bit, at the cost of the less important details like the features of the crowd. Wearing an oversized labcoat that was quite clearly borrowed from Andreas, a much younger Zero stood in the middle of the large stage with a deceptively normal-looking Lucario at his side, his hair slick and blown back in a strangely wild look, the crazed appearance of his gaze adding to a decidedly "mad scientist" look. By this point, Zero in real time already had his head firmly pressed against the table from embarrassment, but the memory played out just the same.
The young man glanced back at the steel-type beside him, the bipedal jackal nodding before the coordinator faced forward, throwing his arm out to the side as a confident grin spread across his face. In an instant, the Lucario that was behind him disappeared, the gust of wind following the sudden dash causing the coat to bellow to the side, before the perspective moved further from Zero again. Once again, finer details on the background were blurred, but the important elements stayed fine and crisp; namely, the blue blur dashing around, stopping only for a fraction of an instant as he fired off a myriad of fully-charged Aura Spheres at varying distances... All aimed towards Zero, who, true to the madness one was meant to take from the look, only grinned wildly and seemed to grow more excited as he remained in place. Ultimately, there were dozens of the powerful balls of energy hurdling towards him before a few seconds were even done, and they soon grew within a few feet of the boy. Suddenly, though, one of the spheres burst, the blue wisps of energy still present in the air as time seemed to slow down, the Lucario appearing for an instant as he smashed his own attack, but continued running. Things started to speed back up to normal, the pokemon now running in a tight circle around the boy, the wisps of energy getting caught up behind him as he moved at incredible speeds. One after another, the energy joined the trail that soon grew higher, and higher, and higher until it was simply a tornado of formless, azure energy that almost reached the ceiling.
Then, it dispersed. The breakneck pace that kept it going came to a sudden stop without anyone on the outside realizing it, and mere moments later, the loose aura simply dispersed and swept through the contest hall, filling the whole area with a faint shimmer before it faded completely. The Lucario had returned to his earlier position, and Zero, who'd been hidden in the vortex stood with his arms outstretched, goggles over his eyes that were slipped on when no one could see, as if challenging the crowd for their opinion. At that point, the memory began to fade as cheers and clapping rang out and the real contestants and judges made their way out, the boy disappearing to watch the show himself while the version of him in the present was vigorously trying to hide his embarrassment by covering the only visible part of his face with his mask on.
Immediately after that spectacle though, the conversation turned to Nova, and then grooming in general, as Leon asked if she wanted some help with her hair troubles before Isis asked if she could help her with the two Furfrous that she picked up, as well as asking for him to teach her the basics of doing it herself. The Gardevoir simply giggled and nibbled a bit on another bite of her pumpkin pie, her orange globes she called eyes turning to Leon as she finally answered. "Well, if you don't mind, I would certainly like to see if it can be fixed. Looking after Zero can cause quite a few loose hairs~" She teased, prompting a weak smack on her shoulder from her trainer.

Jay furrowed his brow and frowned at the scream of pain, but... he honestly wasn't bothered by it. It was really a grating sound, and that, more than anything, was what made him frown. In his opinion, the man more than deserved it, and whatever consequences might come from it. His expression darkened, though, as he heard Deuce yelp out, then contorted into anger at the sound of a large pokemon being released. "Mahmy--" he started, but he was cut off by her scream. "SEBASTIAN!!" He cringed at the absolute terror in her voice, not to mention the fact that she spoke aloud, as well, and jerked away, slapping a hand over his ear. The pain wasn't a concern so much as the horror at not knowing what could possibly make her sound like that. In his mind, some part of him seriously thought his friend had just been killed.
Somehow, it seemed that wasn't the case, and Jay staggered a bit as Mimey shakily reassured him that Sebastian was okay. "S-Sebastian... get over here please..." he stammered, and Tria, pushing herself a bit, quickly galloped over, quickly offering herself to try and shield Sebastian, and offer support to help him. She hadn't... reacted well to the moment of terror either. In fact, most that could see the situation all seemed to lose a few shades of their color, save just a few.

Sebastian was at a loss for words, still curled on the ground with Rummy clutched tightly in his arms. He lifted his head just a bit to take a look at the fallen Druddigon, letting loose a heavy sigh before looking in Deuce’s direction. The Sylveon was focused on the fallen dragon’s form briefly before it sharply shifted to the grunt that returned it. The man himself looked… stunned. But not at Sebastian, but at the Sylveon. Clearly, he hadn’t expected that level of power from a something so pink and soft looking.
Shakily, the long-haired man got to his feet, startled a bit as Tria appeared to act as a sort of barrier between him and any further pokemon encounters. He was honestly grateful for that bit of help, gently resting a free hand against her side while he cradled a rather quiet Rummy in the other. "Th….thank you, Tria." He murmured out gratefully, taking a moment to get his legs to stop wobbling. That had been… incredibly reckless on his part. The full impact of his actions though hadn’t really hit him until then though; he could tell though by Tria’s appearance, Jay’s stammer and even the fierce scream Mimey had given just before that he had nearly given his friend and co. heart attacks. He felt a pang of guilt about it too now that the looming danger was gone, but that would just have to wait.
"Let’s… let’s go." He remarked, starting to walk in Jay’s direction along with Tria. He froze though at the sound of another pokemon being unleashed, head whipping about to spot the Galvantula that had appeared. A split second later though and Phanpy had rolled herself in between the new combatant and the couple. She glanced back to Tria, giving a little trumpet with her trunk to indicate the two keep right on moving to safety and that she’d handle the pesky bug. Sebastian gave a nod of his own, looking to Tria and waiting for her to get moving once more at a quicker pace. In a matter of moments they’d made it back over to Jay, Sebastian stepping away from Tria and to his friend. "Jay…," He quickly spoke up, realizing that up until this point, he’d kind of failed to respond to the man. Without hesitation he reached a free hand out, slapping it gently on the cowboy’s free shoulder. "I’m… I’m okay. Sorry about that…," He remarked. Tria just gave a low nicker when Sebastian thanked her, though she started at the sudden appearance of the bug pokemon. She stared, eyes wide, looking like she was debating attacking or not, but visibly relaxed when the Phanpy appeared. She shifted, then relaxed more, giving it an appreciative nod, and glancing to Sebastian. She gave another nod, this time in agreement. Careful to try and cover Sebastian, and stay at his pace, she walked towards Jay, moving around to still block them both from the grunts once they arrived. The ginger frowned the entire time, clearly listning, and turning his head with them as they approached. He was obviously listening towards Sebastian by the time he arrived.

Sebastian just took a breath as he checked Rummy over. The Leafeon was clearly startled and his eyes were starting to mist in tears. For once in his entire existence, he seemed to properly understand the gravity of the situation. "Shh… it’s… it’s okay Rummy." Sebastian murmured, attempting to comfort the creature. He certainly did not need the Leafeon in tears at the moment. Straightening up he glanced at Jay again, a bit of a shiver running down his spine at the demeanor of his friend. Shuffling a moment, he glanced away as Phanpy toddled up, giving a weak little trumpet. She needed some healing at this point. He set Rummy down and started fishing around for potions from his bag, kneeling down to tend to his pokemon. He was sort of delaying actually admitting what happened but… eventually it’d come out so there wasn’t much of a point.
"One of those grunts stopped Deuce from grabbing Rummy." He finally remarked, applying the potions to Phanpy. He still needed to nickname her, he was reminded. Actually, he had quite a few pokemon who still needed naming. That’d have to come later. "Then one of them sent out this weird looking dragon with a red head… and it tried to stomp him." He got back up to his feet, listening as Phanpy let out another pleased trumpeting starting to move out as a grunt sent out yet another pokemon before Sebastian stopped her. "You should take a rest. I’ve got this." He told the little elephant, receiving a curious look. "I jumped in to grab him and nearly got stomped too. But Deuce took care of it. I guess… fairies have an advantage over dragons?" Sebastian finally finished as he swapped the pokeballs around on his belt, quickly snapping his wrist and sending out Naps. He didn’t really know for sure when it came to the new types. It certainly seemed… odd.
The Typhlosion let out a squeaky yawn, blinking and looking at his trainer curiously. Sebastian expression was firm before he pointed out to the Whirlipede. Jay turned his head, listening, but seemed to deduce what had happened, and turned his attention back to Sebastian, awaiting an answer. He frowned when Sebastian seemed to be taking his time, both in getting started, and in getting through it, and shifted, trying not to get so annoyed that he'd tell him to hurry up. It wasn't... Pulling out a few extra potions, Sebastian ushered a slightly agitated Naps in his direction, taking a moment to heal him up. The grunts seemed to be dispersing now, though there were still a couple who lingered in sad attempts to do battle. It was becoming clear though that this was a losing situation and that retreat was probably their best option. Giving Naps a gentle pat on the head once he’d finished, Sebastian blinked and glanced back at Jay, a slightly shaky smile crossing his face.
"I… think that’d be helpful. Thanks Jay." He remarked, tone half joking, half sincere. He did hesitate a moment in thought, giving a side glance again. "Do you ah… know about this ‘ability’ stuff too?" Way to just prove how uninformed he was. He watched as Dice appeared and toddled his way out to handle a garbage bag looking pokemon that had been called out, a bit of concern crossing his face at the sight. The Cubone seemed to handle himself alright though, getting splashed in poison in the process. He grimaced at that, immediately digging through his bag for something to help. He had a whole lot of berries… maybe one of them would work?
Rummy perked up just a bit as Tria gave him a nudged, though was startled when she sort of flopped down heavily. His ears immediately went up in alar, hoping to own feet and chirping, placing a paw gently against her and seeming to check if she was alright. Here he was moping and his friends were getting hurt! It’d almost slipped his mind the rather rough surprise attack she’d taken. He’d need to find a way to help!
