Jaidev Vaswani (Captain Nagyagite)
Location: Lounge (Bar)
Dice Roll: 7, 8, 3, 5, 7

"Ah," Jaidev said, and he couldn't help but raise his eyebrows. "Yes, then, she is in fact taller than me.?" He scanned the crowd to see if anyone fit the description, but there really were so many people--apparently, even someone 6'6" didn't stand out as much as he might have hoped.

Or maybe Tabitha had left the room, he didn't want to guess. If things progressed beyond tonight, maybe he would meet her later. Or maybe not, he wasn't exactly sure he was the bring-home-to-the-family type.

With the bartender waved over, he ordered another Tom Collins, and shrugged. "Plenty of people back home don't drink. Not my job to decide when it's enough for you. And I can't stay out too late myself, so I should probably be moderating, but..." He shrugged. "Opening night at a new club, I'm telling myself it's a reasonable excuse to cut loose."

He leaned in, casually.

"So, you work at a hospital, then? What's that like?"

Oh, this really was good. That meant an erratic schedule--which was something Jaidev could easily work around. And would probably mean less questions about his own...limitations.

Mauvian Desiree (Civ Glamour)
Location: Lounge (Bar)
Dice Roll: 6, 6, 7, 9

Brushing an unruly strand of hair out of her face as she narrowed her eyes at Aloysius, she huffed. "We'll see how things pan out in the end." She just needed to help the senshi she'd helped bring in, even if she had her hands full tinkering with things.

"I could be persuaded to take a few of them as an apology, I'll make a list for you and Liam." Watching as the Akito came back she offered a slight wave and nodded.

" Neither of us really has experience with a club or this lifestyle. I prefer staying busy or doing research." Though that could be said just the same for Aloysius, she didn't need to worry about someone trying to get her to relax or step away when she was deep into a project.

"I would guess more colors to go with the music or mood, but then again aren't some of those deep sea jellyfish clear or bioluminescent?" She remembered seeing something about them while these were being made but she hadn't had down time to pick that up as a side project yet, maybe soon though.

"Of course, Des." Smiling back, he finished off his glass and set it down on a nearby table. The mention of having a hard time due to a lack of familial support made him think of Liam. He hadn't quite pried into things outside of the fact that Akito and Hayate weren't from this country. That alone always posed issues when supporting oneself financially but thinking about it wasn't something to do right now.

"We will see Des, Liam does say no sometimes, you do know that." It was rare, almost never happening when he asked for things from them but he'd gotten them to be a bit better about things. Looking up, he did see them and smiled slightly. It was good to see them still close and without a glowstick as they had something to drink now instead.

"Considering the affiliation, it may be possible to work here in the future or visit without paying the cover, those details I am unsure of but I would hazard a guess that Mel may know. This is more up her alley of expertise than mine."

Nodding in agreement to Des's mention of not really having experience in this sort of setting, he knew that even when he had gone to bars to drink it was much different than it was here. It didn't seem as depressing as drinking alone in a bar had been for him back then. Not that he really intended to visit here too often unless Liam wanted to come back.

Corrupt Aoede Melody Sharp
Location: Private Room
Dice Roll: 10, 1, 7, 10, 8

Going through her mental tally of glowsticks, Melody found herself quite pleased with the results. It had gone smoothly even if she hadn't been lucky enough to see anyone that was even the slightest bit interesting looking to chat with. At least she might have gotten a show if Liam hadn't run interference at keeping her brother away from the bar.

Part of her wondered if he would have self-destructed so splendidly but she couldn't blame Liam for making sure that didn't happen. The menu on the table lay open and she placed an order finally. Something light to go with the champagne she'd had as well as another glass of wine, merlot this time. It was time to treat herself to a meal and some quiet after a productive night.

Akito Karashima/Lt. Londonite
Location: Lobby
Dice: 10, 7, 1, 2, 2

"Do you mean real life jelly fish? I'm pretty sure anything deep down enough is bioluminescent aside from deep sea sharks." At least he was fairly certain that was acurate, sharks were still sharks even dow nthat deep. Down that deep and fish became glowing monstgers that looked scary, he'd seen pictures of angler fish, it was hard to imagine such things exsisting really.

"I like how the theme works, it's a good idea to do something like this. I just wish it was all teal and blues and nothing else." Color wise anyway. How they'd made these jellyfish, and the other ocean 'animals' was something he wouldn't mind looking into if only because the detail was there and the skill as well. The decorations had clearly been well done, and were expensive no doubt, but he was also certain someone within the Negaverse had made them...somewhere.

Glancing about he took a moment then to check himself, to see how many more sticks he'd collected on his way back to the two. "I'll need to turn these in soon. I suppose though the colors work for the music. Though I wonder if it runs through warmer colors as well...to fit the music." However it might not fit the ocean theme. "Wonder if I could get one of those jelly fish, a few tiny ones, and a small tank of sorts for them. A house decoration..." It would be something nice in their little appartment...though he wasn't sure where he could fit it, it would be a nice light to have. Something pretty.

Adam Bal (General Borax)
Location:
Aquarium Hallway
Dice Roll: 4, 9, 7, 5, 9

"That is not a problem, Mary," replied Adam, voice as smooth as silk even as those he was speaking with were not necessarily. Their enthusiasm was obvious. Or at least, Damaris' was. He was fairly sure Mary's focus was primarily on the woman he was there with.

Considering they were planning a date, that was unsurprising. Considering one Mary was dragging another Mary to the dancefloor, also unsurprising. He couldn't quite help a roll of his eyes. He'd swing back over to them once the doubling energy drain brought the other to the floor, no doubt...

He saw a movement out of the corner of his eye that drew his attention moreso than a date he didn't care about and Michelangelo duPont who he did. Waru had moved from the bar--by himself, looking depressed--and Baz was now moving over to join him. Adam leaned back against one of the aquarium tanks, tilting his head and listening in from this mildly quieter distance.

Oh, so that had been an absolute mess. Waru was in the middle of three, now had none, and had himself in a whole knot about it. It sounded like his underling was attempting to be comforting, which was likely a valid approach, but the gears were turning in his head.

Perhaps he didn't need to be so exasperated himself, after all.

Adam pushed off the opposing tank, sliding over to both Baz and Waru without a word. He didn't speak or dare make a sound until he turned Waru's head toward him, to the right, with one finger under his chin. "Waru," Adam purred, a baritone rumble nearly under the music, "we don't have to be nice."

He glanced down and up Waru himself, slowly, for a moment, as if Baz himself was invisible. As if Adam had eyes only for Waru.

And perhaps he did, for a moment.

"Don't run back to them tonight. Destressing for everyone might be," he chuckled, deep and warm, "necessary." At this point, he did nod in acknowledgement to Baz. It was likely best if he did not entirely ignore the other.

It did not take long for his eyes to end up back on Waru.

"We can make a night out of tonight yet."

Charlie Durand (Connie, Squire of Chronos)

Charlie gasped in shock when Celeste told her the glowsticks were off limits and that she was banned for life. While breaking apart glowsticks sounded like something she would have maybe thought about, because she was curious in a lot of things, she couldn’t recall actually eating it!

“Celeste!” she squeaked out a distressed whine, taking hold of her sister’s hand and shaking it as though she really was a child having a fit over something she couldn’t have. Except she was super embarrassed! And she was trying to stop her sister from telling crazy stories about her in front of someone she actually really liked.

Oh no, what would Aiden think about all this? She was already bad enough around bugs, but what if he couldn’t trust her with basic things!

Oh no! He was already laughing! This was the worst. She couldn’t even look at him!

“I don’t remember that! I wouldn’t do it again!” she practically begged, but didn’t struggle too much to stop Celeste from unhooking the glowstick from her jacket that she’d made specifically for this party.

She frowned up at her sister, looking sad and defeated, although there were not yet tears in her eyes.

Location: Lounge
Dice Roll: 9, 9, 6, 3, 5

“Better safe than sorry, especially if you’re going to be getting any drinks. You can get one that glows to make up for it,” Celeste said, pocketing the glowstick before Charlie could try to get it back.

She eyed Aiden again, letting her gaze sweep over him like she was trying to size him up and figure out his intentions with her sister. She didn’t immediately get any bad vibes, but one couldn’t be too sure. Charlie was too sweet for her own good. Celeste knew more than enough people who would try to take advantage of that.

“Keep an eye on her and I won’t have to interrupt your date again,” Celeste told him.

With that, she dislodged herself from Charlie (surprisingly gently, considering the scowl that always seemed to be on Celeste’s face) and turned back into the crowd. She’d keep an eye on things from a distance. Charlie was grown, and didn’t need her big sister breathing down her neck any more than necessary.

Poppy (Corrupt Eternal Chrysocolla)
Location: Lounge (bartending)
Dice Roll: 10, 7

She knew where Aschera was: that much wasn't hard. Poppy had always had a good memory for faces, and although there were more than enough skinny middling-height androgynous blondes in Destiny City, Aschera's civilian face was just distinct enough that Poppy had seen him come in. Good. That meant she wouldn't have to do anything to him later for his absence, which she'd made very clear was not a viable path to take.

But besides whatever drama was going on in the rest of the club - which she wasn't paying a lot of attention to and wasn't interested in paying any attention to - the energy-gathering was going well.

==========

Soleil (Captain Kosmochlor)
Location: Aquarium Hallway
Dice Roll: 6, 1

If they were just having interpersonal drama right there, basically in public, totally in public, it wasn't Soleil's fault if she stopped just far enough away she could've been plausibly reading her phone and checking her texts. She loved hearing about other people's drama. When she wasn't included in it, it was so entertaining! And this seemed ultimately low-stakes, just a whole bunch of tears and ridiculous boy nonsense and some dramatic personalities -- who were probably her Negaverse coworkers, judging from the fact she spotted the same pin she was wearing on just about all of them -- but on the other hand, it was very funny to listen in on.
==========

Ashton (Corrupt Super Aschera)
Location: Dance Floor
Dice Roll: 9, 3

In the grand, reputable spirit of large social events with alcohol involved, the number of high-intensity interactions Ashton spotted taking place on the dance floor alone was more than she could fit on one hand. Some of them were, of course, pleasant: couples leading each other by the hand, intimate, skin-to-skin. Some of them were a little less so: the longer the night went on the more tongue she'd spotted. It seemed a little much, but she also wasn't in the mood for it herself, so she was willing to admit she was probably biased.

From this distance he couldn't exactly make out how many of these people had the pins, but it had to not be that many overall, didn't it? That sounded right.

Poppy (Corrupt Eternal Chrysocolla)
Location: Lounge (bartending)
Dice Roll: 10, 7, 2

This hour was a little slower than the previous ones, or maybe people were just getting less to drink now that everyone who was going to drink was a few cups in. Poppy wasn't going to complain. As nice as it was that Biolumina was busy, and that meant the Negaverse was having an incredible harvest... she could only do her customer service voice for so long before she started getting snippy, and she was coming up on that point, now.

But she didn't take too long of a break. There wasn't any reason to stay idle! There was a lot to do; even the Negaverse couldn't magically make the sinks clear up any faster than a pair of hands would.

==========

Soleil (Captain Kosmochlor)
Location: Aquarium Hallway
Dice Roll: 6, 1, 9

The more she listened, the more she had to take notes on this Boy Drama. Soleil furtively thumbed over to a chat app and started slyly posting about it to some friends, walking far enough away that she definitely absolutely wasn't listening in on anyone else's juicy conversations, nope, not her, she would never. She had airpods in! How could she possibly hear anything when she was clearly listening to something else.

vertigo: Okay okay okay so I'm at this club opening right. That's background. That's not important. What is important is it's incredibly busy, and
vertigo: I think I'm witnessing some like genuinely insane polycule breakup drama
vertigo: Maybe not polycule?? But I'm pretty sure men don't platonically do this
vertigo: Also maybe not breakup but there's definitely some hurt feelings ^_^

==========

Ashton (Corrupt Super Aschera)
Location: Dance Floor
Dice Roll: 9, 3, 7

God, she was getting tired. Not draining-tired, not with the Negaverse's pin tucked into her top - or at least she was pretty sure it wasn't draining-tired - but even adrenaline and caffeine could only extend consciousness for so long, and Ashton was fighting the urge to take a nap so badly. She got paid if she was here for four hours, and while probably nobody would check to see if she'd fallen asleep for any of those hours... falling asleep in public just sounded to her like a profoundly bad idea.

So Ash took twenty minutes and pulled himself off the dance floor, got a drink, got another drink, determined that he could probably still teleport or get someone else as a ride home even if he got white girl wasted in the process of getting any further drinks, and pushed his brain back into having a good time. Yes, yes, when he got home he'd pass out for fifteen hours because he was really pushing it, but oh well.

Basyl Phloros (DM Super Narcissus)
Location: Aquarium Hallway

Oh, comfortable wasn’t what Basyl would call his situation. It was incredibly high-stress and exhausting so much that he barely had the energy to do anything else. …Poor Narcissus didn’t get the attention that someone with a schedule less arduous than Basyl’s could’ve given him, and it was a little unfair for his past self to wind up in his current self’s situation, but… well, Basyl wasn’t planning on changing that anytime soon. “I’m not the sort to say it s-sucks, but…”

Really it just meant he should be enjoying this free night! Instead of wondering why everyone was acting so strange around him.

Ivory was always strange, so his snappy and combative attitude didn’t mean much.

It was just Nat and Winnie that Basyl couldn’t place. He trusted them, both of them, so he probably shouldn’t press the matter if they’d chosen not to share. But he had theories that might be worth extrapolating on in private. Nataniel wouldn’t lie to him.

“Does Ivory drink?” He asked Tanwyn curiously, as the youngest of them flounced away. Basyl didn’t know why he’d assumed not- maybe in part because he couldn’t unsee Ivory as a teenager made of skin and bone, and maybe another part because of how infrequently he saw the boy consume anything. But surely if he brought them all something to help lighten the mood…

Not that Nataniel seemed agreeable to that. Basyl wouldn’t press. “Aw, too bad,” he hummed. “I-I do… love sloshed Nat.”

=============================================================================

Ivory (Corrupt Super Calaverite)
Location: Aquarium Hallway
Dice Roll: 3, 10, 10

Ivory didn’t know a single thing about alcoholic beverages, and having said that, he knew even less about the sorts of drinks his companions fancied. They didn’t drink around him often, and he didn’t pay attention to any of their gross preferences on the occasions they did.

So at the bar, he explicitly ordered, “I don’t know, just whatever’s best” and didn’t even bother to catch the name of the trio of drinks he’d been handed. Something dark and pungent with the bite of alcohol. If he’d entertained the idea that he’d keep a drink for himself, that thought was quickly dashed.

He wove his way back toward the largest of the aquariums, juggling three glasses as he went.

“Here,” Ivory said as he shoved one drink at each of his companions, finding them exactly where he’d left them. “I didn’t know what to get you, but this is the best,” he assured. At least, that was what he’d asked for. He’d even gotten something for Basyl, though he’d considered excluding him. But carrying the extra glass would be worth seeing his most hated foe weak and ineloquent and stumbling stupidly around.

Dice Roll: 1, 1, 9

A shrug at Nat’s entirely convincing assurance that ‘it would be fine,’ then a snort of dismissal as he shook his head at Basyl. “Nah, never seen him intentionally drink anything with liquor in it. Probably for the best. He’s uninhibited already.” And barely contained at that.

Barely any time at all before Ivory returned to them. Despite the crowd, service at the bar was quick.

Tanwyn accepted the glass, gave a sniff, then a sip. “Whiskey? It’s an old fashioned.” Not usually top of his list, but he wouldn’t complain about a free drink brought straight to him. “Thanks, Iv. It’s perfect.”

Mauvian Magnus
Location: Aquarium Hallway
Dice Roll: 8, 1, 8, 10, 6

Magnus lowered himself to his belly on Laike’s shoulders. The hallway they were in was getting quite busy now with people milling around, talking and enjoying the view of the fish. He wanted to make as little of an impression as he could. The last thing he wanted to do was possibly make Laike a target. The poor boy was already doing his best with conversation, and Magnus knew all too well how felines of any kind could attract unwanted attention. And in this situation, there were two types of unwanted attention.

As he sat there crouched, head against Laik’s ear, Magnus caught something laying on the ground. Eyes narrowed at it before he got up and leapt off the boy’s shoulder. He had to be careful navigating the throngs of people. SOme noticed him, others were well too absorbed in their own conversations or the glowing aquatic life to even glimpse him as he slunk along the ground. His target had been kicked against the aquarium wall, and likely would have gone unnoticed by others, but Magnus had a trained eye for treasure. And the dull glowstick was certainly a treasure.

Grabbing it in his mouth, he hurried back to Laike. The ever good boy, was aware of Magnus and his little prize, taking it and tucking it away with the others and letting Magnus back up onto his shoulder spot. “It’s very busy in here now.” He commented into Laike’s ears. “Almost got stepped on twice while getting that.” And it wasn’t a lie. Some of those who had been too absorbed had nearly got him. One girl’s heel just barely missed his tail. Magnus was pretty sure he’d lost a few hairs in that close encounter.

Baz Lemarchand (Corrupt Ilmari of Chastity)
Location: Lounge (at the bar).
Dice Roll: 8, 10, 6, 4, 9.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.“I only saw from a distance,” Baz lied without needing to think about it, because it seemed more in line with what Waru needed to hear than the truth, the whole truth, and so on and so forth. While Baz admittedly didn’t know as much about the nuances of Waru’s interests and his relationship with Faustite as Baz could have known—consequence of being a fairly new addition to an ongoing story with a great deal of history, Baz expected—hearing that one’s husband had asked one’s secretary to play spy for the evening seemed like the sort of thing that might make things much worse.

And really, they were already bad enough.

Baz listened to all of the bad, and the messy, and the emotions that came pouring out of Waru’s mouth with a sympathetic expression, not entirely a frown but closer to that than anything else. The sort of look that said Oh, my heart aches for you—and Baz’s heart did ache for Waru. Whatever role he’d had in everything and however messy the situation might have been, Waru generally had good intentions when he did things. They might also have been selfish intentions, but that was okay and nothing to hold against him. With all the work that Waru did, he’d earned the right to be selfish. He deserved to have his needs met and then some.

“I think that all sounds very complicated,” Baz said gently, care and consideration going into his words because he needed to help without also exposing himself and Everlee for having spied on Waru and Aelius. “Not complicated in a bad way? Just…complicated in the way that people are. And I feel like, if you wanted for everyone to be okay with something—with…a polyamorous sort of situation?”

It wasn’t hard to catch on that Faustite and Waru’s marriage was not, per se, exclusive. Still, if Waru meant something else, then Baz wanted to know what it was. “I feel like you probably only would have wanted that because you really felt like it was a mutually good arrangement for everyone.

“With someone else, I might suspect that was more selfish, but with you? I feel like you would only want everyone to be okay with an arrangement like that because you felt it would make everyone happy. Because you’ve shown yourself to be a very caring person, Waru, and I don’t feel like you would deliberately try to upset or harm the people you care about in any given situation.” He looked up at Waru, directly at his eyes, while saying so. Seeing Waru so upset compelled Baz to try and help. To find something to say that would make the situation feel even marginally less hopeless for the Boss. “Sometimes, situations just get tangled, feelings run high, and people get hurt anyway, even if you don’t want that to happen.”

Fortunately, Adam swooped in to Waru’s other side as Baz tried to think of where to take that ideas, and while his advice was not quite what Baz might have said in isolation, it wasn’t bad. “Adam has a good point,” he said, returning Adam’s nod with one of his own. “Giving Aelius and your husband some space to cool off before you talk to them might really help. And if there’s anything I can get for you, Boss? You know where to find me.”

Probably not at Baz’s townhouse, based on what Adam was saying. But if Waru needed a coffee order delivery in the morning, Baz could take care of that.

Laike Yinchen (AG Niter)
Location: Aquarium Hallway
Dice Roll: 10, 7, 3, 6, 7

Was Magnus being polite? Did Mauvians do politeness like people did? He didn't know, but Laike could appreciate the gesture. And if Magnus really meant it? Then Laike was doing better than he thought he could. Definitely better than when he was, like, normal and full of anxiety.

Maybe it was time to leave the aquarium hall behind and go to the lounge or something. Drunk people were easier to talk to; Laike didn't really need any social skills for that. And it didn't seem like the glowsticks would be choosy about the source of their energy.

Magnus had to dart off to grab some glowsticks, and hearing his response upon returning solidified the decision for Laike. "Okay," he replied, giving Magnus a scritch under the chin. "It seems pretty crowded now, yeah. Time to go to the lounge, maybe? I can get you some water so you don't get dehydrated, too." He was reasonably sure that whoever was bartending tonight wouldn't mind helping out a Mauvian. He'd heard the club staff was mostly — if not all — Negaverse officers.

Carefully, Laike slipped between bodies and out of the hall entirely.
