Leaving the crystal caverns you trace the stream, your destination none other than Kale’s lair. While on the way back you can’t help but realize you are rather parched. All this ‘monster hunting’ kept your thoughts away from your body’s needs. Looking to the stream you wander closer for a cool lap of water.
In the distance you hear shuffling but cannot make out where exactly the sound is coming from. Dismissing it you take another lap of water only to hear the rustling again. Standing at full attention you look around, was your mind playing tricks on you?
Stepping backwards from the stream you search your surroundings again before dismissing the noise. You needed to get these items back to Kale quickly after all!
Rules
Each character will roll one 100-sided dice (1D100) and edit in an appropriate response. Please post for your characters individually when responding to the prompts. Please use your Character Cards to keep track of your Action Points and Items. You may only post in this area if you have completed the previous prompt. How to Play Match your roll to the corresponding encounter list below and respond accordingly. If your number does not match any of the numbers on the list simply respond with your character leaving the area and a reflection on their experience.. If your character runs in to Robbing Sparkle, the raccoon theif, they must RNG the number of items carried at that time, to determine which one he will steal. Should your character have no items, Robbing Sparkle will leave empty pawed!
List of Encounters
If you roll a 3, 40, 54, 76, or 88:You encounter Robbing Sparkle, the raccoon thief! RNG between the number of items your character has on them to determine which item she steals. If you've saved an Action Point prior to this encounter, you may use it now to save your stolen item!
You must list all items you have found by number in a new post and RNG between those numbers. Whatever number has been chosen by the RNG will designate what item was stolen.
Example: Fluffy Sparkle Butt found 7 items. They list all items from 1 - 7, the rng chose item number 3 to be stolen.

Coming out of the cavern, Skuld paused as she was walking to glance at the stream. A short drink couldn’t hurt, and to be frank, after that experience, she could use one. So, setting her items down, she began lapping at the water. Ears twitching slightly at the faint noises near her but otherwise ignoring them. She could also do with a fight, and she hoped the other creature would be able to feel how bad of an idea it’d be to cross her right now.
Mind wandering, she wondered if maybe there were more hidden creatures in the cavern. It was certainly something worth looking into later, once she had a better way of storing her finds, but for now, she would return to Kale.
Licking her chops once she was done, she pulled together her belongings and began heading back once more. She hoped everyone would be impressed by her finds! Monster hunting was certainly an interesting pastime, and she planned to continue in the future.
As Einarr came out of the cavern, carrying his prizes with him, he took only a single look behind him. The mouth of the cave still glowed and the stench of decay was evident around him. Shaking his head, eh decided then and there that he would never come back to this place. He had no need of pretty gems beyond impressing his lady at home. Surely no member of the Fallguard would ever find this place useful either.
He saw no reason to return to inform Kale of his failure to find any monster, but... he knew better than to make a berserker mad and perhaps failing to report back would ensure an attack from the beast. Einarr grimaced at the thought, thinking of all that he had to protect at home. Fine, he would see the awful scum beast one more time to report his findings, but he would play his game no further. Unless, of course, there was another quest to be had.
I am Einarr. I am no coward, but... I think it is time to report back and go home to my lady love. Einarr decided and set off, back towards the tree that housed two owls and a monster, rather than a monster hunter. Then, finally home to his mate, the lovely Silke. Not long now. Not much further. Wild Holly was just too tired to care about any sounds in the bushes, she was on her way back to Kale's lair. She had spent so much time and energy in the glowing cavern she felt like she needed a vacation after all this. She would keep her ear to the ground for the next monster hunting adventure. She gathered all the things she had collected to take them to Kale. This had been a great adventure and she hoped she would have a number of adventures before her time in this world came to an end. She was working her way to becoming a pretty great monster hunter. She finished resting and headed off to turn her treasures into Kale. She hoped he would like the things she found. She was excited to see what he said about the fairy fish scales. She sighed so tired but so happy.
Cross Road Wind hadn't had much luck on this adventure, he had only found a bone and a painted feather. It really wasn't much, but oh well he had tried. He figured he would take what little he had found back to Kale anyway. Perhaps on the next adventure, he would have better luck. He stopped at a stream and didn't hear the sound in the bushes. Once he finished drinking he made his way back to Kale's lair to turn in his tiny pile of treasure. It certainly wasn't much. He sighed out and headed off there wasn't anything else to be done for it. Besides just going on this adventure added to his story ideas. Chasing owls and going into strange glowing caves. He smiled he might not have turned out to be the great monster-hunting hero who found the fairy fish, but that was ok. Maybe next time he would find a real adventure.
As she walked out of the cavern, Sunflower Symphony gave herself a shake and then realized just how parched she was after all of that. Having salty fish in your mouth probably didn’t help matters either. So, deciding that a short break couldn’t hurt, she dropped her catches down between her paws and leaned over towards the stream of take a drink.
Her mind wandered as she drank, thinking to how she started this journey and where she ended up. The bats had been an unexpected detour, and in hindsight, she should have ignored the crow, but she was still proud of how she had caught those fish. Perhaps she wasn’t too bad of a monster hunter after all!
Just then, the sound of rustling caught her attention... and then again. Looking up warily, she curled a paw around her finds before deciding that sitting around here any longer may not be the best idea. Gathering her belongings once more, the dire wolf swiftly began making her way back to Kale.
Exhausted from her journey, Lady decided to take a brief rest before heading back to Kale's lair. Mindful of the fact that there was still that dratted raccoon somewhere in these woods, she traveled a little ways from the crystal cave before settling down to quench her thirst. She set her rather sizable haul down next to her and bowed her head down to the stream. Hunting fairy fish was an exhausting endeavor, and the trip back to Kale would be long. It was best to gather what energy she could here before trekking back to her dream wolf.
Hearing a soft rustling nose behind her, her ears flicked, and she almost dismissed the sound entirely. But, her earlier encounter with a certain light-fingered cretin made her exercise caution. Sighing, she lifted her head and glanced behind her, glaring into the underbrush as if something was there, even if there was nothing. One could never be too careful, especially considering the precious commodities she possessed.
She bowed her head and again heard that sound. "Can't even drink in peace," she growled underneath her breath. Deciding not to take another risk by staying here, she gathered her things and made her way back to Kale Greenleaf.
Maybe this time she could finally show him Arcstrider and earn his affection. She'd break off Arcstrider's horn if he dared to hide away again like he did last time!
Meadowsweet wasn't going to risk staying longer in that cavern or the desolate area that surrounded it any longer than she had to. She was happy to leave, following the stream. It took her a little longer to get from the stream to the giant tree she'd started at, but after some time, she was able to find her way back. It was a slower way back, with her pounding headache and the sparkling bones pricking into her fur, she felt more weary than she had when she set out on her quest.
This has got to make me more impressive, right? She thought. Maybe I'll be one of the only monster hunters in the pack! She held her head a little higher at that thought. None of the Seers will hold my title! With a wagging tail and pride in her heart, she continued to the tree. She should go on quests more often! (WC: 155)
Following the stream, her eyes scanned her surroundings every now and then; the path was familiar - but every now and then she saw a new face. There were many out here, likely on Kale's quest. Eve traveled for a long while unceasing, following the path back the way she'd come. At some point her stomach made an objection - she realized that despite one or two sips of water through out the day - she had not eaten in at least two. The few moments of reprieve earlier had done her some good, but her body hungered.
For now, a few more sips of water would have to do. This was not the time to hunt. Her head lowered to the stream and she lapped at the cool water for a few brief moments. Her ears swiveled back, then side to side. Shuffling, somewhere there was shuffling.
Curiosity got the better of her, stopping her from her second drink to look around. Her shoulders stiffened and her eyes narrowed. Her head turned slowly as she scanned the area, surveying high and low, watching for movement in the grass or foliage. Finally, she shook her head. Her mind must have been playing tricks on her.
A nice long nap when this was done. That would do her some good. Disinterested, she dismissed the noise and she took off at a sprint, eager to return to Kale and to be done with this quest.

He traveled along the edge of the stream, taking a moment to lap up water before returning. He had decided he'd give the items in their entirety to Kale. He could find food later, he wasn't that hungry. That, and the fish already served its purpose in masking that horrid smell...
Although he'd miss the feather. It would have been nice to add to his earring. Maybe if he met Anywhere again he'd ask.
Still, he felt bad he wasn't as useful as he could have been. He had spent much of his time fretting and worrying about his surroundings, not to mention the time he spent paranoid about the cave itself. 'Next time.' he promised, noting he'd do better with the next quest. Should Kale even give him a second quest, that is. Surely others had done worse than him, right? What happened to those who followed Nowhere, anyway?
