It was nothing, and he was grateful. He didn't want to disturb the poor raccoon again, truthfully. They were probably enjoying their meal or settling in for the night. He turned back, grabbing his fish for the journey back. At least he had a meal for later, or perhaps Kale might want the consolation prize. He'd need to later find Anywhere and properly thank her, but he wasn't sure if she was dealing with other adventurers or not. Perhaps even her mate, who most likely had realized by now his mistake.
His nose crinkled at the scent in the air, appreciative his time in the decayed land was coming to an end. He had known about locations such as these before, but Howl had always intentionally avoided them. Maybe that wasn't the right answer, though. How could he truly say he appreciated life if he didn't face death itself, or offer to help mend the decay where he could? He'd need to ponder that in the privacy of his own temporary home. All he knew was he was glad the smell of fish was blocking out most of the smell of decay.

Oh the caverns. Dark Skies Bloodmoon had been here before and it still made her shiver as she padded on, following the stream. What would Shining Opal think of this place if he knew there were other things here other than crystals. Maybe she could tell him once she finished her quest. Though this time there was no Opal to guide her through and like that time before she wanted to leave. No way could she turn back now. kale was counting on her to find more proof and a few scales might be good but she needed more. Especially with how long she had been waiting for an opportunity. However something caught her eye as she moved on, just like before in the stream and she jumped on the opportunity to discover and bring back more to Kale. What sort of trinket or proof would she find this time? "Please be something good!" Dark Skies Bloodmoon said giddily as she came closer to the water's edge and stuck her paw in.

The reddish brown female fished around in the water with her paw hoping that she was going to get something good. As she pulled the sparkling things out of the water she was a bit dismayed. These were not shimmering scales like the last time she had reached into the watery depths but instead they were just shiny pebbles. Pretty but not exactly what she was hoping for. She might find a use for them down the road but they wouldn't do anything for her right at this moment. The pebbles were really pretty though as she looked at them more. Dark Skies Bloodmoon knew she would need to look around some more, there had to be something else here. "Come on girl, we're looking for scales or something living attached to them!" She hissed quietly to herself. Trying to pump herself up to not feel so scared in this place.

Here she was, standing in front of the stream looking down for a second time trying to see if she might get something good. Though moments passed and she decided that she wanted to do just a tiny bit exploring up the stream. The glow of the cave almost soothing now as she stood near it. She wondered vaguely how many others had come upon this quest Kale had given her. She even wondered about her feathered friend who came and went whenever he pleased. That's when something caught her eye again. Something was moving in the water and she was on it. Was this more sparkly pebbles or maybe something more useful. Not that she was anywhere near tired yet, she just felt an ache for something good. "Please." The reddish brown female whispered to no one in particular, "Don't be sparkling pebbles again." Though maybe Kale would appreciate seeing them anyway. They were pretty.

Well... it certainly wasn't sparkly pebbles this time around. Instead it was one of the beautiful crystals, albeit smaller than the ones that were in the caverns themselves. A very pretty specimen even if, yet again, it wasn't what she had been hoping for. Still, like with the pebbles at least the female wolf could find some use out of them. Maybe she could find something to fashion it into something. Eventually her and Son of Stone would have pups of their own and there were already a few trinkets she had gathered on this quest that might suit them. Or she could even make the den look nice. A smile crept upon her face at such thoughts, then she shook them away. Again she went wandering to look for more clues in the water, still not feeling satisfied with her findings for the Monster Hunter. "Come on stream, give me your secrets."

The Monster Hunter knew she was going somewhat deeper into the cavern and she skin felt as if it were crawling. The scent of death and decay was pretty strong too but she held firm to her senses even though they screamed for her to leave and that she had stayed long enough. Perseverance to finish this quest and find something was what held her tight in that cavern slowly following the stream back and forth. With how the lighting was it was easy to miss something if her attention was taken away for even a moment, which it was several times. The strange sounds of the cave made her glance warily about to make sure there was nothing trying to sneak up on her since her sense of smell was being played with. Something moved beneath the surface of the water and she watched patiently and quietly for her moment to strike. What would she find this time?

The reddish brown Monster Hunter waited by the stream. Golden eyes searching as she knew that there was something there but it just wasn't the right time to go for the strike. That's when she saw the shadow under the water dart about. The lights and depth obscuring it just enough to keep it secret. When she dipped her head in to grab whatever it was she was surprised to feel it slapping her in the face with its tail and she nearly lost the fish back in the water. A fairy fish! This must have been what Kale was talking about and even better than she had found a prime specimen to bring back to him and prove they were real! A combination of the fish and scales, this couldn't have turned out better in Dark Skies' opinion. Though she wanted to have just one more look see before heading back to Kale Greenleaf.

Here the Monster Hunter was, away from her mate and her feathery friend feeling a bit lonely on her quest out here in the Redwoods. Though she would see them soon and be able to tell them all these things about this adventure she wished they had come along as well to see it. Still she felt just a bit more fire to attempt to get something else from this quest, something more to bring back to Monster Hunter Kale Greenleaf or even something to bring back home to her den. It would be beautified and made more homely for sure. So now Dark Skies was waiting in the cavern with the Fairy Fish, the sparkling pebbles, the crystal, and the painted feather she awaited for the next shadow or other movement to catch her eye so she might add it to the collection she had now. What a fantastic growing collection she had!

Dark Skies waiting for what felt like a lifetime before something below the water moved. Another shadow was there and her heart began to beat faster as the anticipation to snatch whatever it was from below the surface up into her jaws. Though she would be careful with whatever this was like she had been the last time. A moment or two passed before the thing stopped moving and that's when she struck. Yet again in her jaws she had caught a Fairy Fish! That made two absolutely amazing finds. How luck she had been this quest to catch two of these creatures she had been sent out to find. Hopefully she would get some great praise from the Monster Hunter Kale. Even if he didn't, Stone would probably congratulate her and that would be a fantastic win for her. She thought to herself maybe she could give it one more go... though she wanted to leave. Heck, one more time while she had the nerves.

She had taken all the things she had collected and moved on through the cave. Exploring a little bit left to maybe find one last good thing within. Some other secret or even to catch yet another Fairy Fish within the stream, even more pebbles or a crystal. However as her eyes caught crystal after crystal on the wall she began to feel a headache the further she went in. The smell also getting stronger and the combination causing her far too much trouble. So the reddish brown Monster Hunter turned away from the cave, figuring that it was finally time to leave and head back to Kale with her prizes. It had been a very good excursion. Dark Skies would have loved to continue to look around and dig up more truths but it was definitely past time for her to leave, even the sky was darkening a bit to signal it was time to leave.
