Destiny City takes may have its quirks but it’s always had the benefit of charitable souls. The Destiny City Star Festival Charity Benefit is a culmination of businesses, organizations, artists and philanthropists who have donated over four hundred items to be auctioned off. Proceeds of the Charity Benefit are to be evenly distributed to several community nominated organizations. The silent auction had concluded only a few moments before but many items were still out for display.

While formal attire was encouraged it was only necessary for those who were attending the Banquet or Charity Ball. While tickets for the Banquet are already sold out, tickets for the Charity Ball are still available for ten dollars.

Neither the Banquet nor the Ball have open doors yet, and items from the auction are still being prepared for pickup and payment. Whether you participated in the auction or if you were just mingling to look at the items on display, it’s far too crowded to leave now--especially with the rain pouring outside. On the bright side, there’s no harm in mingling for a bit. Probably.

Quote:
While the auction may be over, the evening has only just begun. Were you lucky enough to win an item? Did you sneak into the Charity Event to escape the heavy rains outside and enjoy the soft music played by the live band? Do you have a ticket to the Banquet or Charity Ball?

Whatever brought you to the Charity Benefit, you should take the opportunity to relax and let the weather calm down a bit before leaving.

All characters may participate in this event; if your character was not at the charity event/you did not choose to participate in the event prompts leading up to this, there will be an option to join the ORP in the next post. You may join this roleplay at any point in time, however when points are calculated for the end prize you will not be able to make up any points from previous prompts you missed. ICly this will take place over the course of a single evening. New prompts will typically be posted approximately every 48 hours, however the next post will be up tomorrow night!

Coming to the Ball had been... An adventure, and luckily Yolanda Huydrus hadn't needed to tell her cousin Ezekiel to shut up at hine in public or at home about the talking cat unless positive they were safe and sound and not likely to be heard by some unknown.. And by all things good, the younger man agreed with his cousin entirely. So, as the rains erupted seconds before they ducked inside with a ball ticket, Yolie was quick to wipe water from her hair and pulled a compact out, touching up her ice b;ue makeup swiftly befiore she started.

Ezxekiel Tucana wasn't a man commonly affected by what was and wasn't 'proper' dress. For one, he wasn't even male all the time. His mind swun on the pendulum of the gender spectrum with an ease and flow that weas a cross between a clock and an ocean, and he sometimes changedd in an instant. He also refused to dress according to societal expectations of gender and instead wore anything he damn well pleased -- and for formal events, he matched Yolanda's iridescent white long evening gown with an old ballgown -- his departed mother's light blue gown, combined with beautiful red lipstick, a smokey weye, and the look of one not dressed to excess but to look properly formal, hair out of it's manbun and in a lovely updo. And now his hands worked his cousin's wet hair, brushing it as he sighed.

"I told you to let me do it." He protested, barettes emerging from his dainty purse to fix his cousin's hair. Where his hair was held in place with ample hairspray, Yolie did not style her hair with spray, and the tall man settled to a quick, elegent style that earned only a small bit of protest as he put hairsticks in a messy bun, held in place with bobbypins.

"Zeke. Zeke really?" She protested, and he beamed brightly.

"Jusat because we're going to be by the wall until Father is off work doesn't mean we can't look fetching doing it. Besiders, you look atrocious with your hair down and wet. A wet rat." He teased, and Yolanda sighed, reaching up and flicking at hoim.

"Zeke, you're horrible. But, valid point. Although I'll not refuse a dance..." She sighed. Zeke smiled.

"Ifg you wanterd attention, you'd habve listened to me more, and rented a tuxedo."

Felicity

Coming had been a necessity--her families' connections demanded it, considering how many photos would be taken. "A good way to counter the other photos that were taken of you, recently," her mother had stated in a rather scathing tone earlier in the day as they'd preened and prepped at the spa for the evening.

Felicity had to fight the urge to roll her pretty blues or else ruin her face mask at the time--her mother never did approve of how much the cameras (be they paparazzi's or rando's cells) liked her at clubs or the job Lydia refused to acknowledge outside of hushed hisses. Even then, only where she was sure nothing was recording her. Felicity was pretty sure she'd never even gotten her mother to acknowledge anything in a text, even.

So, she dressed prettily enough that night, long white-blonde hair partially swept up by an ornate silver filigree piece, silver sticks stuck through it with dainty chains and star charms hanging from them twinkling in the lights. Her dress was modest, the black lush material starting in a high neck before plummeting to just skimming the floor due to her heels. Of course, modest by her terms meant it was not only sleeveless, but two large slits opened the skirt up along her thighs, the coiled body of the snake tattoo around her left leg almost entirely visible before it vanished beneath the dress higher up. Crystals and silver accents glistened along the bodice of the dress to create constellations and other starry patterns, the theme of the event further emulated through motifs in her rings and earrings.

Already, she'd been stopped numerous times for rounds of photos, as the child of one of the city's wealthy families. To some, a rather scandalous one, at that. Slender digits caught hold of a wine glass stem, fluttering dark lashes at the server who paused a mere second before sighing and continuing on.

She giggled, her other arm linked with her well-muscled date. The pink on her lips barely left a print on the glass as she took a sip, and for that she was pleased--she preferred tints for a reason, though she enjoyed plenty of gloss when she wasn't worried about making someone else's lips sticky for it.

Dark blue eyes flickered over his form again, humming lightly over the dark ensemble she'd picked out for him. One of many, actually, that she'd thrown his way, trying to find a suitable fit. "You know, you can pull off the tux look rather well, there might be hope for you yet beyond a gym rat," she teased, leaning in close to press her upper body more against his side.

A little starry clutch that matched her attire was secured beneath her arm between them, within it a ticket that confirmed her as one of the various silent auction winners. She'd spent a pretty little penny on a few lots, including limited or one-off designer attire and accessories--her particular favorite being a gold and diamond-eyed snake necklace that had come up from a jeweler in the city she happened to adore. Worked out well for her. She'd been debating if she could convince one of the higher up agents who could do that whole teleportation thing to help her steal it when she first heard about it on social media. That it came up for auction that night just made her life easier. Plus, she spent her stepdad's money on a 'good cause,' win-win.

"Oh, did you hold onto your ticket or did you put it in my purse, too? What did you get, again?" She flicked her gaze down to her clutch in question, suddenly unsure if she should be mindful of her date's belongings on her person. If nothing else, Jai was among the few who could count himself among those that Felicity Feardorcha would actually consider besides herself, and herself only.

Regula Wilder
He'd been persuaded to come back inside after he had settled himself and regained his composure. Whatever that scarf had done to him remained a mystery and it would remain that way as well. The auction had long passed, items had come and gone, sold to the highest and most generous bidders. In the end, he hadn't found anything to pursue and he hadn't seen the scarf either. Now it seemed that the vast majority of those in attendance were meandering about, quite content to socialise or to compare what they may have purchased.

Unsurprisingly, the taller man had returned to his preferred haunt, leaning against the stair banisters as he observed the proceedings. You see, he might have been persuaded to return but he hadn't come alone. Puzzled by the effects that the scarf had had upon him, he'd drafted in the aid of his now wayward companion.

...No, not his partner.

The other one.

The loud, rambunctious and very opinionated Mauvian. He had confidence that Orias would have possessed an inkling of what might have caused the reaction, but no sooner had he managed to wrangle the feline and smuggle him in, than the damn boy had wandered off again. Where he'd gone was anyone's guess, in fact, at this point in time Regula could only assume he was up to no good.

Wherever he might have wandered off to, he had left Regula to his own devices for the time being and with no recognisable faces in the room just yet, he settled in to watching the crowds until someone he did recognise wandered passed his field of vision.

Either that, or someone would eventually say hello to him and he would be more than happy to converse back!

(He's open for interaction from anyone that pops in, he doesn't bite!)

Ashley Williams

If not for her sister's somewhat out of the blue decision to come visit her in Destiny City, then it was very likely that Ashley wouldn't have been here tonight - and not because it was her first time attending such an event, because it wasn't - she'd been to her fair share of such events in her time–

However since moving to the States it had been something of a while, because events such as these had never really been her thing.

Unlike her companion.

The thought had her looking over at the reason why she was at the event at all, as her sister, Harriet, waited for the opportunity to go up and pay for one of the items that she had spontaneously decided to bid on - an item that she had declared that their father was absolutely going to love.

Ashley shook her head slightly, a slight sigh escaping her lips - she'd forgotten just how her younger sister could get.

Harriet Williams

Harriet was looking forward to being able to pay for and pick up the item that had pretty much been an impulse buy, albeit an impulse buy that she didn't regret making because she knew that their papa was going to absolutely love it and the money had the added benefit of going to good causes–

And whilst she was was aware that tonight hadn't exactly been her sister's first choice in which to spend her evening, Harriet was really happy that they'd gotten a chance to go - because she was really enjoying herself so far - and the evening was far from over.

She took a sip of her drink, already anticipating the ball that was yet to start, even as a part of her was curious as to what the menu for the upcoming banquet would be like.

Saffron Laith

Whilst Saffron had tried her hand at bidding on a few of the items that had caught her eye, none of her bids had turned out to be winning bids.

She couldn't help but feel a little disappointed, especially as she had really wanted that last item, but alas it had ended up selling for something that was well outside what her wallet could afford.

She tried to privately console herself with the fact that at least the money was all going to a good cause as she took a sip from what was her second glass of white wine of the evening - there was also the fact that whilst the auctions had come to a close, the evening was still relatively young with both the banquet and ball yet to commence.

Saffron took another sip of wine.

She was quite looking forward to the ball part of the evening - maybe she'd even get a chance to dance.

Daisy Grace

Though she hadn't managed to outbid anyone, Daisy felt that she'd still managed to help drive a few bids up. Which meant more money for charities, therefore, she'd helped. And that meant that she could enjoy the ball with a clear conscience. Though, given the way she was restlessly folding and bending her ticket, who knew if the poor slip of paper would survive until the doors opened.

With a sigh, she worked to straighten out her ticket and eyed the people milling about. There were a few dresses that made her wish she could whip out her phone and beg to take pictures for the sake of reference. But one simply didn't ask snooty people for candids. She'd have to be content with relying on memory.

Bugger.

Still, her memory wasn't bad. She'd manage. She always did.

Arian Laith

Whilst Arian had spent time dithering over whether to attend tonight's event, he was glad that he'd ultimately made the decision to come - or rather that Anxo's attendance had ultimately prodded him into making the decision to come–

Because, to his surprise, he'd found himself enjoying himself a lot more than he thought he would - although he knew that, that was very much down to the company.

Anxo had a way of brightening things up.

Whilst Arian had enjoyed looked over some of the items that were up for auction, he hadn't actually placed any bids on anything - not even the carved mirror that he'd had such a strong reaction to earlier.

He shook his head slightly, actually he wasn't going to think about the mirror–

Because it was the one blip of the evening.

Rayna Farrell

Rayna was understandably not the most comfortable at the moment. While she loved crowds for the gossip factor there were just too many people mingling for her to feel one-hundred percent comfortable in a semi-formal attire. But she'd just have to tough it out. She had purchased a ticket for the ball and had even managed to find something worth bidding on in the silent auction. More importantly she had managed to win said object. It'd be waiting for her when she chose to leave the ball and so currently the young woman was currently standing to the side of the tables set up for the auction items in a nice pair of black slacks and a comfortable silk blouse.

Wasn't the fanciest get-up but it would pass muster on a basic level.

That being said she did enjoy admiring the outfits of others who were present. The variety of colors and designs were just something else. The city had gone all out it seemed for the event and in the back of her mind Rayna just couldn't help but wonder, in the jaded part of her mind, if gathering huge crowds of people together was just asking for trouble. It seemed to happen every Halloween ...

Ciel Karpusi

Ciel was feeling pretty good tonight, the auction had been quite enjoyable and she was so looking forward to the ball. She rarely had a night to just have fun between her work and her duties as a knight. She was wearing a dark blue dress with a sparkly star pattern on it. She had pinned her hair up and worn her finest jewelry. Her amethyst eyes sparkled with excitement as she took in the room.

She turned to the girl she had come to the party with, her younger friend and knightly sister. "Jolene, isn't this wonderful, Tres Bon!" She said excitedly "Don't you just love balls, especially when they are also charity events!"

"Come on lets go dance a little." She said practically pulling the other girl along with her.

To be completely honest, Hux hadn't come to the charity event expecting to bid at the auction. It wasn't that he didn't want to give to the community, he did want to, but he wasn't sure if his teachers salary could compete with the higher fortune of those who normally flock auctions. However he was pleasantly surprised to be able to say he managed to win an auction for a rather lovely painting that depicted a busy bakery at work with lots of little details. It wasn't one of the items currently out on display but that didn't stop the tall blond from enjoying what was available.

At the moment the man was looking at an interesting looking sculpture with one hand in his suit jacket's pocket. A suit because one should always dress up at least a little at events like this and more importantly Alex had already told him that he was planning on having them go to the charity ball after the auction. Hux had just found it easier to be prepared now rather then later before the event itself started. "So what do you think about all the auctioned items, Tink?" He asked his cousin as he shifted his focus from the sculpture to said sorted man. "To be honest there were a few things that were kind of, questionable, but most were quite nice." There had been at least one item that had reminded him of a youma, though he certainly wouldn't say that out loud, but most weren't like that.

He'd been here earlier, alone for part of the time, until he'd run into his elder cousin. After talking with Ashley the run in with his cousin had been needed, he didn't want to be alone all night. He was glad to have Hudson on his side, even though the other insisted on calling him Tink while in public.

"Some of the items are nice...some..not so much." And some were nice but certainly not something he'd put in the house. He had been surprised to see his cousin involved in the auction, and to see him win something. He'd been prepared to jump in and bid for his cousin - to make sure he won.

"Some of the items were rather unsavory as well...though that was rare." Shrugging his shoulders as he kept to his larger cousins side. "I ran into someone from...work." He said, dropping his voice a bit. He knew he was hinting at something to his cousin...he just hoped his cousin understood which work he meant. "She's likely still around as well. You should meet her, if we can find her." He should meet other officers, it would be beneficial for his cousin to do so.

Anniliese made it to the charity event. She wasn't sure if she was going to attend. She didn't attend the auction event for the reason of the dress code. She didn't have anything fancy to wear there. She did wanted to know what was being auction. She was also wanted to know what people paid for such items. Plus she couldn't leave it started to heavily rain. She didn't want to go home in that weather. She might as well just let the rain die down a bit.

Putting his human shape back on still felt strange to Jaidev. Yes, Felicity had him doing it more often, but it was still an odd experience, being the man he'd been before he tangled with a youma and came out the other side changed. But here he was, at a fancy party, with a gorgeous girl, dressed to the nines and having a fantastic time. Certainly he couldn't match her for attention to theme, but he had gotten his hands on some starry silver dreadlock beads that sparkled in his hair, pulled into a low ponytail and held by a band nearly the same shade of yellow as his hair. His suit was tailored and pressed, and the shirt underneath looked black at first glance, but in the right light, it sparkled with constellations in the fabric. A few little nods did well enough, because Jaidev was no Billie Porter, and he couldn't pull off a more dramatic look.

He laughed at Felicity's little tease. "Oh, I do alright, bangaram. But it has been a long time since I've gotten to look so fancy. Even fancier with the loveliest lady at the party on my arm." He'd missed being the center of attention, he had to admit, and getting to share a little of Felicity's spotlight was a delight.

"I've got my ticket, though." He patted the front pocket of his jacket. "Nothing too special; an abstract stained glass piece I thought might brighten things up at...home." In the space he'd carved out for himself in the Rift. "And a low-maintenance terrarium. I desperately need a little bit of green or I'm going to lose my mind." What was left of it, he supposed.

Jolene Moriarty

The whole environment of the charity ball had Jolene delighted. Her first social event with a friend, and without her parents looming over, and she'd gotten to dress herself up, do her hair, and generally make herself gorgeous, and it was all so....exciting and new.

Besides, Ciel was a delight, and the whole experience was wonderful. "Oh, yes. My parents love these sorts of things, and I find the whole experience a joy." She reached up to check her carefully-coiffed hair, tucked into an updo secured with a beautiful starry silver hairpiece as Ciel pulled her along.

"Yes! A dance sounds lovely!" What was she to do but agree, anyway?
