BAND IT . TALI N 'S.BIO
Name: Talin Stage: Pick Pocket-> Thief -> Bandit Race: Wind Earthling Gender: Male (~20 years old)
Personality: 3 Base Traits: Callous, Silver Tongued, Bossy "My way or the highway." Talin does things his way or not at all. He wants to be in control. If not.. then he does his best to disrupt those in control. Either in violent ways or in small humiliating ways. Violence is better, but embarrassment is fun to! He does not deal well with insubordination towards him even though he is always insubordinate to others! Normally he'll only punch or slap someone who does this... unless truly angered (they warn the enemy, take one of his things, hide loot from him, or talk back in front of others), then he is completely willing to use his blades!
"Take no prisoners" and "The only safe enemy is a dead one." Talin does not accept surrender or take prisoners; he kills them. Talin actually really likes killing things; fights are fun! They get the blood pumping! And he knows if he leaves someone alive who hates him; they will come to kill him! He's rather paranoid about it... mostly because he's killed or stolen from so many!
"Hey sweet heart~ " Talin, despite being a very ruthless and callous person, knows how to hide it. He almost always wears a mask of a sweet rascal. His laughing grin often slips into crueler smirks or scowls when he kills something or his plans are disrupted. He does love to flirt with the ladies (and some men) and often patronizes traveling troupes/musicians and theaters. While he loves shiny objects; he actually doesn't care to hoard them. The act of getting is more important than actually having to him. As such, he's quite free with gifts and when he shares out the spoils of the raids. Of course as boss, he always gets first pick... but he almost always takes less than a lion's share. What is important is that he is the leader and gets first pick, not what he gets (unless it's a new weapon/clothing He does love his shinies and is quite the clothes horse!).
Description: A tall lanky man with a dusting of freckles across his cheeks and shoulders. He has an easy smile on his face though his eyes hold a dark gleam inside them, hinting at his true self. His crystals are on his arms and caves, very flat and close to the body (hidden by clothing mostly) On his right side of the face (the side you cannot see) he has several small crystals scattered about asymmetrically.
Eyes: blue (with a slight tint of green some days) Hair: tan, rather unruly and pulled back into a loose tail. Build: a lanky but lean muscled 5'4.5" body. (5'6" is the tallest an earthling gets)
Clothing: A bright red sash, loose open chested shirt, boots, loose pants, leather flaps that hangs from his many belts that conceal quite a few throwing daggers. A purple with gold embroider head sash and matching sash hidden under the red one and leather flaps. Necklace: his necklace contains a band of metal inscribed with a prayer for safe travels. His mother made it for him and he wears it always.

TALI N 'S.HIST OR Y
Talin was born to a happy couple in a small nomadic tribe. Grew up wandering the mountains and always having just barely what they needed to survive. It was an okay living but one he didn't care for. The mountains always made him feel small and insignificant... Which he hated. Once he went to the council meeting, he doesn't remember why, just that his parents took him. He recalled being looked down upon by the arrogant ice tribe council members and hating every moment of it. Why were they better tan him? Why were his people treated as lessers? Other than this annoyance, he stayed fairly happy and was a decent person.
Once he was old enough, Talin set off from home to make a name for himself; to prove himself to the world! And get away from towering mountains that loomed over him. He fell in with bad company right off the bat; leaf tribe bandits! They took him in and he found a second home... one where he didn't have to carry everything on his back, or have to deal with the bare minimum! His personality, malleable at his young age, became twisted by this company. It was there he learned to kill and found he rather liked it. Killing others was having the ultimate control over them; and the fight itself? Thrilling! Danger made his blood race and he soon became addicted to it. While with the bandits, he also learned how to put a friendly mask on; after all, people talked to friendly ones... and girls were a whole lot nicer to a guy who could flirt and wasn't scraggly! Where once his smile had been open, honest, and natural, now it hid a callus mind behind its eager grin.
While he enjoyed being with the bandits there was one thing he really hated. Always being bossed around by the "Bandit king" as his boss had dubbed himself... and the older bandits. Once he had learned to fight, Talin began to challenge others; force them to acknowledge him as their better. Things were going well when he left to go and visit some shifter towns and flirt a little, enjoy civilization rather than the barbaric camp of the bandits. While he was a way a group of Alkidikes came to shut down the Bandit King. (Vollerei's class quest 8D)
He came back to a destroyed base and realized something important; if you targeted everyone, eventually they will send someone after you to end your life. And if you took familiars and enslaved people... they'd chase after you that much quicker! He didn't want to give up his lifestyle; he loved being a bandit and doing things his own way, but he didn't want to risk what had happened to the Bandit King happening to him.
Finding a few others from the crew, the handful who'd been elsewhere just like him, Talin set up his own gang but with a twist. No slaves. No raiding or stealing from villages. This way they would not end up riling up the natives! Instead, they focused on the merchants that had bad reputations. To him the Oban's presented a lovely target; now that Neued was a major trading center, all sorts of merchants were coming! And a lot of them were Obans, coming to bring back the wealth of Tendaji to the dry lands of Oba. Obans who many Tendjians hate... and would happily look the other way when caravans went missing and the products ended up being gifted to them....
Talin didn't give away gifts from the caravans to those in need (like those displaced, widowed, or orphaned by the war) for any moral reasons. He gave it away to build up good will towards his men... to keep those like the Alkidike who'd kill them simply for being bandits. It was a good thing he did; as Talin always killed the merchants he attacked(with a few exceptions where some escaped). If they fled he didn't give chase (too time consuming) but if they were wounded or surrendered? He killed them. They had seen his face there for could lead hunters to him! Talin did not want that... he was paranoid about being hunted. When raiding he always wore a scarf over his lower face to obscure his face so those that fled could not tell others who he was.
There was another reason for hiding his face (that he used to justify his paranoia); he would often go into towns to gather information and recruits... if his face was known perhaps merchants would be able to tell who he was and be alerted to the fact that his crew was nearby! Which doesn't make much sense when you consider that he is wearing the sign of his crew on his head!

TALI N 'S.RELA TI ONS
FAMILY Alinesha: Mother: wind: a sweet woman.. boy would she be disappointed to see me now! *laughs* Mother is a weaver for the tribe; she also tends to her small flock of Capramel from which she gets her wool. The tribe has many Capramel they herd with them, each owner must help look after all; they take turns doing so (Talin disliked this chore).
Pral: Father: wind: a stern but gentle man. He'd also be super disappointed! *shrugs* His father is a moon shine brewer for their tribe. Moon shine is made from the tubers that are about the small lakes and the sap from the small shrub trees that dot the mountains. The tradition is to make it all in one night then bury the barrel before dawn arrives. Then yo leave it to sit for a few years and come back to retrieve it! It has to be unburied at night; apparently to get the blessings of the Moon and night spirits to enhance its flavor. The sun spirits are jealous and so you cannot let them see anything but the final product.... and even then its best to drink it only at night! The way to see if you have achieved a blessing from the moon spirit is to burn a spoonful; if it burns blue it's ready and blessed. If it burns orange than the sun has ruined it with it's jealousy and you need to get rid of that barrel [science reason is there's bad stuff mixed in so it makes you very sick and can kill if too much is drunk. Also tastes disgusting]

TALI N 'S.CREW&P LO TS
Bandit crew: Currently only 8 people other than him. All must wear a purple and gold scarf/sash/armband/headband that matches his head scarf. You have to have it somewhere on you (but can hide it if you want when in town). ......Lirik: His brother and him tried to ambush Talin... Talin was more amused than anything and decided to teach them... until Merik started acting too uppity and pissed him off. Then Merik tried to convince Lirik to come with him and take all the loot while Talin was out chasing a girl who'd taken his loot. Lirik decided to stick with Talin, but he didn't want his brother to die (he could see which way the wind blew) and convinced his brother to take the gold and jewelry from the loot and leave... He now follows Talin, acting as muscle and trying to learn to walk quietly and not leave an easy trial to follow.... it is slow going.
Stage 2 specials: Connections to others but not a lot of plot furthering; Ingwe (mine) and Serr (smerdle's) will be in this group and learn how to fight/steal/ambush etc. Up for adding others in to! Connected and furthers Ouen's plots.
Talin has a bandit band that raids mostly Oban caravans and attacks (any race) merchants that are known to cheat others. (He does this so that townsfolk aren't up in arms about capturing them... not for any moral reason). It is this band that he gathers a few of the other characters (Ouen, Ser, and Ingwe-> I will rp this happening after I get him!) Ouen, after he's grown and can actually fight Talin; does so to take control of the bandit group. Talin himself does some actual banditry(and a lot of killing) on the side with 2 of his closest companions. They attack others some days when he feels like killing things or sees something he really wants... and he keeps it a secret from the more... naive or gentle members of his group.
Talin is the role model for Ouen on what not to do. His callous acts towards wounded enemies as well as arrogance will serve as a catalyst to help Ouen learn responsibility as well as some moral/ethics. I intend for Talin to actually lose his 'throne' to Ouen; giving Ouen a group of bandits to turn into a robin hood like group. This makes Ouen an enemy he will come back and try to kill one day (cause you know.. why stop there? XD Actual death will never happen but there will be fights!) Ouen will be like a protege to him... until the boy starts to get confident and starts to question him or disobey his orders.
The duel for the throne event: He raids a caravan of an Oban character in the shop. A noble or wealthy one that can cause the whole "no more blood shed or killing of the wounded" from Ouen. Though a character who's gonna get killed by Talin (after a fight or they don't resist and try to surrender.. either way works!) Then Ouen can stand up for the captured Oban (I can always make it NPC but PC would be more fun!) and that's where they duel. (can be actual fight or just an rp).
Depending on RP's between now and then several things could happen: (tis a crossroads!) This will teach Talin that even his own "friends" can turn on him and make him even more paranoid. Far more unfriendly and ruthless. With this he will become a mercenary/spy (probably for Obans oh ho ho... he doesn't hate them... he just attacked their caravans cause he wanted good will of the tendajians...) for some noble Oban or general. If he goes this path then he will try his best to destroy Ouen. This is the dark road.
The other path will set Talin off on a journey and he'll learn over the time that what he has been doing is a far cry from what he always wanted to be doing. He will end up back home to try and reconnect with who he was before he fell in with bad company. Eventually he will encounter Ouen and again and acknowledge he was wrong. He won't rejoin that group cause Talin will still prefer to be in charge but he will at least not hate Ouen and the others for turning against him. This is the light road.
Stereo's words
Ouen's not ruthless, but... his moral compass isn't exactly fine-tuned either. he did kill an Oban in self-defense. so -- I can see Ouen putting up with the killing (and even participating) when he's younger (now/early in stage 2), just because he hasn't got his s**t all sorted out and ADULTHOOD and EGO and PEER PRESSURE and he can't even properly deal.
but i think as he grows more experienced he would end up being like "ok guys we're not doing this anymore 'cause i said so. deal."
and yes, at that point, totally down for him trying to duke it out and take charge to do a more robin hood thing. so like. rather than killing people, find some way to embarrass the a*****e/cheating merchants. xD bcs that's more his style anyway.
And more: Ouen'll have a sash he took from that Oban he killed, so maybe that would sort of act as his 'bandit resume'. and Talin would expect Ouen to be cool with all the killing, to start.
despite Ouen's natural leadership, i think at the start he would be ok with accepting orders, since Talin is more experienced -- but Talin might steadily find Ouen countering his plans/wishes (like, for example, Ouen wouldn't wear the bandits' sash -- he's already got his own). the same goes for the killing. at first Ouen would trust Talin that it's somehow necessary, but eventually he would start to resist.
and then yeah, one final climactic encounter where Ouen is just like "we're not killing anymore" and they duke it out. I'm not sure which of them would be stronger in combat, but i guess it doesn't really matter -- even if Ouen lost the fight, suppose the rest/some of the crew decide to side with him anyway, and Talin leaves. And if he wins, then he wins.
either way, it's a good setup for the grudge match between them. 8D
Quote:
Plots for after Ouen ousts him:
He meets Optics Oban bandit girly and she teaches him to trust (probably by telling him flat out he's stupid for lieing to his own core group of allies) and that for him to rely upon others they need to trust him and know he will be there in return. Teaches him honor and mercy.... but also helps him set up organized crime (or take over smaller gangs and make them big) in Oba... and set up (and participate) in assassinations of Oban nobles... cause she hates them

BAND IT . TALI N
Earthlings: Wind
The people of the Wind Tribe most clearly resemble the humans of the 21st century. Of course, the inhabitants of Tendaji are unaware of this fact. They are a nomadic people and can often be seen laden with bags and satchels of various shapes and sizes. Sauti is a perilous land, incapable of supporting life in one single area for an extended period of time, so the wandering members of the Wind Tribe carry everything they need with them at all times.
There are a few, sparse places throughout Sauti that can sustain life. In these areas, members of the Wind Tribe also live, maxing out the sustainability of the spot and making it impossible for newcomers to move in.
These Earthlings possesses fair skin. Their hair and eyes are both often light in color. To the other tribes, whose coloration is so unique and bold, they may appear somewhat lacking in color, even washed out. Their ears are short and rounded, making them not quite as adept at picking up sounds as the other tribes, but that skill is less necessary in Sauti, where the mountains provide an astounding echo. Like the other Earthlings, the Wind Tribe sports crystal formations on their bodies. Their crystals are pink in hue and appear most predominantly along their arms, shoulders, calves, and on rare occasions the face.
Religion: The Wind Tribe worships Bergchi, most commonly referred to simply as "Chi," the often icy goddess of the mountains. They believe her to be their originator and mother, but not necessarily the highest power in the world. They believe that all people return to her in death and when speaking of those who have passed, will often mention the goddess as well, saying "Bergchi be with them," "Bergchi guide them," or some other variant. They also believe in Ault, the sun god (see "Bringer of Fire"), although he is not their primary deity. The Wind Tribe also believes in the existence of lesser gods (i.e. of rain, of tides, of forests, etc.), but the names of these lesser deities vary and are often quite personal to individuals. The earthlings recognize that others may call these same deities by different names, and accept them as the same gods with different tiles.
Government: The Wind Tribe of Sauti and the Ice Tribe of Zena share a council-style government. Both tribes have a varying number of council members; however many each group deems worthy of the position. All members of the council sit in on meetings and vote on any matters that come up. The Ice Tribe, however, has a heavier hand, and their decisions are weighed more heavily than those of the Wind Tribe. The nomadic Wind Tribe, however, doesn't seem too discouraged by the arrangement.
List of Physical Traits || Pale, warm skin color || Warm pink crystals on arms, shoulders, calves, and occasionally the face || Various shades of blue eyes || Pale white-blond to sand colored hair || Small, rounded ears || Clothes are typically burnt orange, green, and browns in color with blanket-like bundles and pouches/bags for travel
