Assurance A little dirty play can go a long way. Attack an opponent with a poison tipped spear. The attack does x1.5 dmg and deals -1HP for 3 turns. Can only be used once every 3 turns. Sudden Jab When using a spear if you roll your 'to hit' and get 18/19 or 20 (this does not include your bonuses) you get an addition attack that automatically hits but deals only half the original damage done. Both attacks must be rolled for individually if being dodged by an opponent. (does not have to be announced to use) Lighting Level 1
Shenandoah ACTIVE(x2) +3 to physical attack damage PASSIVE +1 to attack bonus
Tension hung thickly over the camp.
It was clearly divided into two sides now -- those who remained loyal to Talin and waited for their leader to return from some (undoubtedly bloody) errand, and those had chosen to follow Ouen on his justice-seeking mission against the bandits who had wronged his mother. Those that had once been undecided had either chosen a side, or taken the opportunity to quietly make their departure. Not an unwise decision, for this was a powderkeg set to blow.
Ouen had considered leaving as well, of course. He could just take his followers with them, and let the group split with no outright confrontation. However, after some consideration, he had abandoned this idea.
It was cowardly, for one thing. He would not act like a coward in front of those who had put themselves in danger on his behalf. And anyway… Talin, he felt, would hunt him down out of spite, and strike like a shadow when he was not to be expected. Ouen would never claim that the man was not skilled in battle, especially not with surprise on his side. He would not give his opponent that kind of benefit. He would wait right here, on the open ground of their encampment, and he would face his once-leader on equal terms.
So he waited. They all waited, in tense, dry silence.

I love the frog in a cup XD Don't forget to roll for initiative! Talin's initiative: 31+13 = 44 talin is referring to ouen helping out that town where some group had taken over a merchants house or something in your solos.) Talin got back to the camp and found his guards to ask them a question or two. He could sense the tension in the air and wondered if something else had happened in his absence... there would be hell to pay if that Ouen had done yet more! The guards gave him the response he had almost expected; Ouen aad the people who followed him were waiting for Talin to return... part of him was a bit upset at that; he had wanted to hunt the brat down.. but he knew that the spearman was not a coward and there'd been only a slim chance he would flee. The other part of him was glad; he wanted a public confrontation; needed it to reinforce his authority even. As he stalked into camp he cast an eye over the group. "I made this group." He stated loudly as he came close to the tense gathering. "I made it, I run it. My game, my rules. I don't like it when people take what's mine, boy, and that includes my authority." He didn't wear his smile today; he didn't feel like wearing a mask anymore. "You all know that... so why did you decide to take action like attacking people inside a town? Why did you bring an oban girl into the camp? If you wanted to sleep with her do it in a town.. not here where she knows our location and can tell her people's troops. Who.. oh I don't know... might have reason to try and capture us?"He tossed his knife up into the air and snagged it deftly; eyes locked on Ouen. "And now you are challenging me... Tired of being a bandit, boy? Tired of being alive?" His threat was clear; he was not going to let Ouen walk away from this without punishment.

11 + 6 = 17
And then, after what felt like hours of waiting, Talin arrived. He announced himself with typical bravado, and it took some effort for Ouen not to lash out then and there. Instead, he stood slowly and hefted his decorated lance, making a show of dragging his fingers through his hair, fixing up his shoulder armor and checking the wraps around his arms -- everything to look like he wasn’t even listening to the bandit’s angry little challenge.
Of course, he was listening. To every word. Because if there was one thing Ouen liked, it was a good verbal challenge. This Shifter liked to preach, and he did it well. He finally spoke up, words stretched and swinging like blows from his lips.
“An’ I say, Talin, that you ain’t got no authority. Not a thread of’t. You -- all yous do is bully people, an’ buy ‘em off with some shiny trinkets when they can be bought, an’ shut ‘em up with those there yours sneakin’ knives when they can’t. But none of those is real authority, is it? No they ain’t. If they was, I won’t have half your dang camp on my side, would it? ‘Cause I ain’t given these here my folks no shiny trinkets. An’ I ain’t flashed by blade at them either. An’ I know you here is thinkin’ you come in an’ cut me down an’ everybody then there’ll turn around an’ march behind you on some other fool chore to cut an’ bleed the life outta anyone who stands in your way -- but that ain’t happenin’. ‘Cause my folks don’t follow me on account of my cuttin’ ability, Talin. They follow me on account of somethin’ you ain’t got.”
The group behind him held fast, sitting and standing with their weapons out, but lowered. He’d told them not to get involved unless things got rough. Shenandoah, however, stalked up to his companion’s side -- a big, long beast now, teeth bared in Talin’s direction.
“Now I ain’t gonna talk you outta nothin’, ‘cause I know you ain’t got sense. So that’s all I got to say. I’m leavin’ today, one way or the other.”

Talin shook his head and sighed. "You are an idiot. Authority is not given to people. You earn it or take it. you have apparently earned yours by acting like some idiot trying to be the nice guy and I took it by being faster and meaner than others." He scanned the other side and sneered. "We are bandits. Bandits take from others. There's nothing nice about a bandit; nothing honorable and no glory to it. Those of you who thought otherwise are idiots and I used that. I bought off the villagers with gifts.. that was to keep us all alive... because I have seen what happens to bandits when hunters gather together and track us down... want me to show you the old Bandit Kings hideout? The one the Alkidikes burnt to the ground?" He laughed; these naive fools! "They follow you cause you speak pretty words. You say nice things about them, and make them think they are better than some bandit that takes from others. Because inside we all know what we do is not 'nice' or 'good.'" He laughed and barred his teeth at the group arrayed against him. "You killed and stole to feed yourself, you killed and stole from others who didn't deserve it. Does this make you unhappy? Are your poor feelings hurt that you finally realized what we do is simply stealing and killing once you take the pretty words of 'Obans are bad! Lets take their stuff to help our people!'" At Ouens last words, Talin threw two knives at the taller man. "Oh yes.. you will leave today. One way or another." He said softly as he started the fight they both knew was coming. "And they will probably all leave too.. Apparently the realities of what a bandit actually is are too much for them."

Ouen held his ground. "I stole for ya. I fought for ya. And no, there wasn't no honour in't, not a scrap. But what I done did yesterday ain't got no stay on what I'm gonna do tomorrow. You -- you's stuck how you are, you angry little thief. You ain't got no control over nothin'. Not your people, not yourself. I ain't puttin' up with it, an' neither are them folks with me. We got the guts to change things up."
But the talking was done, and Ouen was glad for it. There was no use talking to Talin -- all that he had said, he'd said more for the benefit of his followers, so that they might not be tempted to switch back to Talin's despicable way of thinking on account of, as he had said, it having once been good enough to satisfy them. Forget that -- now there were flying daggers, sharp edges slicing past him and drawing blood. He wasn't surprised. This was Talin. He'd seen Talin work. But Ouen had gotten ready too, coating the blade of his lance with the sap of a poisonous plant. That was honour among thieves for you.
The shifter took a long step froward and swung his lance hard. Beside him, Shenandoah lunged at the bandit, teeth gnashing and claws outstretched.

Its what everyone does. its what you did when you went raiding without my approval. Think you didn't hurt anyone when you did that?" All honor and nice words till it came to the fight.. then he used every trick int he book. Rather like him, Talin appreciated that... except he didn't use honor. Talin, as Ouen had anticipated, was difficult to hit. That was what he'd been worrying about all long. It was far worse, of course, when you didn't see the bandit coming... and at least Ouen had deprived him of that advantage by staying in the middle of camp, where the other would have no choice but to meet him head-on. But meeting him was only half the battle. Staying head-on... well, that was a whole other matter.
Even with Shenandoah flanking from the side, the man managed to dodge out of the way, with only the radaku's claws making any mark on him.
There was nothing else for it -- snarling in response to the bandit's belittling words (who was he to call Ouen a brat), he attacked again.
"I'll kill when I gotta, Talin! All you do's kill to settle your screwed-up head. Well, I ain't got me one of those. I ain't smart, but I ain't messed up either."

"Aww, poor lil baby shifter woke up! Realized killing is bad! Welcome to reality sunshine. Life sucks... You can try to make something for yourself or suffer as others use you as a stepping stone. Guess which I chose to do?" The spear gouged his ribs and ripped his shirt and skin... Her scowled and skipped backwards while quickly leaning down to retrieve one of his previously thrown knives while he had the chance. "Messed up I may be... but at least I'm honest with myself. You still lying to yourself about being some hero for the poor? Trying to convince yourself you're the good guy? Well each time you steal from someone you hurt others.. the items we stole were meant to feed the merchant's families. The food we stole meant for villages that don't have enough. Each time you killed you left some kid or wife or husband or parent without their loved one." He shook his head. "And you think yourself some sort of hero... you all did.." His eyes ran over the pack of people. Some knew him from before and were smirking; they had liked the old ways better than the pretend ways Talin had been using lately... and some had uncomfortable or mutinous expressions on their faces. Those were ones Talin knew would leave even if he won.... and frankly he was starting to not care. Why should he keep up this facade? The way the bandit king had operated was so much better...

Ouen wrinkled his nose, close now to finding Talin's yammering tiresome. The poor bandit seemed to be under the impression that he was capable of shaking Ouen (and his allies') confidence in his convictions. But of course he did! Talin had no convictions, and wouldn't understand them in the slightest. To him, if you had murdered a person, well then you were a murder and you'd best get on with it, and make the most of it at that. Ouen had figured things that way too, for a while.
But the fact of the matter was, life wasn't like that. You made a new choice every moment, and you weren't a slave to what you'd done before.
You weren't a slave to anyone or anything, period.
Talin's knives cut deep, but Ouen held fast. He gripped his spear and lashed out again, a firm thrust that made the muscle flex across his back, his shoes dragging dust from the ground.
"You ain't chosen nothin'." He hissed. "You just gone an' done the only thing you know to do. That ain't chosin', that's just you bein' a coward. 's what cowards do, they make excuses. I ain't makin' none. I done some messed-up s**t for you. Don't make no difference now. I got my own road to walk."

Talin hissed in pain as the spear gouged across his chest and threw him off balance. "Cowardice?" He growled as he back pedaled and threw some daggers to give himself some space. "You think picking the path of a warrior is cowardly? Because a bandit is merely a fighter who uses his brains and brawn to take what he wants... I picked the path. A hard path that you have to be smart to survive and not get caught, because I hated the peaceful life." Brat thought he was a coward? That all he did was make others do the work? Who killed the most? Him. Who lead the ambushes? Him. Who made the plans? Him. His eyes narrowed and he knew he wouldn't let this brat live. Here or later... Ouen was going to die. Hopefully knowing who killed him but Talin was perfectly fine with sneaking up and killing from behind. Cowardice? To pick a path where brains kept you alive? Kid hadn't ever struggled had he? Hadn't suffered and been starving in the wilderness only to be denied food by bloody merchants since he had no money.... This brat had lived lovely life; a nice one.... one with morals and ethics.... After what seemed like an eternity of barely leaving a mark on the quick-footed wind male, Ouen finally landed a satisfying hit. Sure, it wasn't anything Talin couldn't bounce back from, not with his dogged resilience and snarling anger... but it was something, something to leave a mark regardless of the turnout of this battle. If he could at least go down having put up a good fight, he would set an example for the others, who were watching intently from the sidelines.
"You ain't no warrior." Ouen scoffed, genuinely laughing at the bandit's words. "'s that what you's think you is? 'cause you ain't. Naw, you ain't. And don'tcha try an' turn this on me 'ere either. I ain't sayin' I was no knight in shinin' armour. But I'm standin' up for somethin', an' you's just crawlin' on 'round on yours belly. You don't know nothin' else, and you's just pretendin' you chose this. You ain't never made no choice. You been backed into a corner, and you ain't had the guts to fight back, not in any way that counts.
