It seemed like it had been raining endlessly and Eije was severely getting sick of it coming down. After nearly drowning in a ravine the week before, she still felt like she was wet down to her bones. It seemed as though her prayers had been answered though, as it was the first sunny day she had seen for what felt like a year. She had come back closer to the western border of Sauti in the hope that it was the craggy mountains that had caused the severe weather and, for the moment, it seemed as though she was correct. But now, she was just going to relax. She couldn’t think of a single thing she could be doing. Supplies were as good as they were going to get without travelling hours to the nearest settlement and she had some fish earlier that was now slow roasting over a fire. It was probably the safest place to escape her sailscale’s grasp.

Talin, after living for ten years in Juahur and tale, found the rain of Sauti relaxing. After it rained, the humidity went away! It wasn't humid all day and the wind blew often enough to make the rain a pleasure rather than a pain. Though he still didn't feel like trekking through it, so he set up camp in a groove of trees for the most part and waited for it to finish. When the storms finally passed, he sauntered out and enjoyed a day off instead of traveling towards the settlements for the festival. As he was drying clothes and fixing some of the damage to them, he smelled grilling fish wafting in on the wind. His stomach woke up at it; smirking, he laid his sewing to the side and grabbed his belt with his many pouches. Secure in the knowledge that his stuff would still be here when he returned, Talin sauntered off towards the food. If he could smell it than it couldn't be that far!

Pushing herself into a sitting postion, she casually flipped the fish, finding herself slightly bored as she watched it cook. The slight bubbling of the fish and the oddly colored rub that she carried was almost soothing, reminding her of home. It was a mix of Sauti and Zena herbs, both rather hard to find unless you knew what you were doing. And she didn’t, as she groaned as she realized that she’d have to go find an herb peddler. She had probably cooked too much, more than the two of them could eat for the next few days, but fishing had been the most enjoyable part of the week. She would be content to fish until she could feed an army, to be perfectly honest. Plus, Namidu wouldn’t eat it immediately, he preferred his food dead and crispy. It wasn’t a problem until he began to gain weight. Lo, the problems of an animal raised in captivity. “It’s almost ready, Namidu,” she said with a bit of a smile.

Talin crested the hill and looked down at the small camp where the smell was coming from. An ice earthling girl; probably here for the festival, he thought. Little girl all alone out in the big wilderness... With a pet. He noticed the sailscale as he got closer. A rather lazy one from the way it was just waiting for food. "The food smells great... mind if I join you?" He called out as he strolled down towards them.

Eije turned at the sound of a voice, spotting a male atop a hill. She was surprised, never expecting another person so far out. Though she was out here, so it probably wasn't that much of a surprise. "Sure, come on down!" She didn't see the harm. At this distance, he seemed like a wind earthling, so it was a welcome sight. Even living as far north as she did, she was used to seeing them during council meetings. Namidu gave a soft purr, scooting closer to his master. He wasn't the best with strangers and she put a soothing hand on his back.

mewmew kittykat94 post 3. I may not be able to make it to 10 posts today... I've only an hour left before I head home! Talin smiled as he scanned the simple camp quickly. There was nothing worth stealing so he supposed he could be have himself today. "I'm called Talin," he introduced himself, "And it looks like your little guy is a bit shier than the normal scale sails." Normally the little buggers were loud obnoxious and completely willing to fly into ones face. Off to the side, something slithered through the grass towards the fire, a glint of bright orange eyes could be seen as it moved silently towards the tasty smell.

robot kitten If we can't make it, we tried our best! <3 Eije gave the man a smile, "Eije, and this is Namidu." She gave him a soft pat on the back. "Yeah, he's an anxious little baby. Being on the black market left him skittish," she shrugged as she made a motion for him to take a seat before flipping a fish. "If you'd like, fish is on the menu tonight with a mixed rub," she said with a note of pride in her voice. The earthling didn't notice the flickering of grass, though the sailscale flicked his tail, giving a soft call in curiosity.

"There's a black market in Scale sails?" He asked, adopting a startled expression, though on the inside he was intrigued. If there was.. he bet he could hook Bushi up and get access to things from Sauti! "The things people do..." He sighed and shook his head as he sat across from her. "It does smell delicious! Smelled it from my camp.. and since I only have some dried meat from my last kill I figured I wander over and mooch off of whoever was cooking;" he grinned as he leaned back against a rock. He cocked his head when Naidu gave a soft call. If he was shy why make the noise? The scale sail in the bushes paused at the call but didn't answer; there was food to be stolen!

She nodded, hearing the question in his voice, “Isn’t it strange? But I guess if there’s a market for it, there’s a black market for it as well.” It probably had to do with his bright scales, but that was just her guess. She couldn’t figure out what was going through people’s mind. Eije smiled at the compliment, glancing down to the cooking meat as she spun the sticks one last time. “Thank you, it’s nearly done. It probably just needs another minute and you’re free to help yourself,” it was nice to have some company other than a sailscale. Namidu gave another soft call, flicking his tongue. He knew there was another sailscale out there, but he wasn’t sure of the intention. If one thing was for sure, Namidu was a lover, not a fighter. Eije gave him a pat, joking “What’s wrong? Are you upset that you won’t be getting the spotlight for dinner?”

mewmew kittykat94 A nine is not good enough to capture the scail sale in an epic manner. Ah well. Maybe your girly can nab Rune? Talin heard something rustle softy behind him; there was no wind blowing so it had to be something moving it. He didn't feel threatened, so perhaps it was only something small... But just in case, he put a hand near where one of his many throwing knives were hidden. He smirked at her scail sale's reaction; "Maybe he doesn't want to share?" Behind him the creature crouched and paused before suddenly dashing out, running flat out by the figure in between it and the tasty meat smells. Startled, but expecting something, Talin's hand did lash out, managing to grab the tail and stopping it for just a second. The purple scale sail hissed and twisted, sliding its tail out and tried to continue on forward to get some fish.

robot kitten This is probably as epic as it gets. Go teamwork? 8D Eije still didn’t seem convinced, but she gave Nami a light scratch under the chin, “Hmmm, maybe. You still need to be polite though,” it was a gentle scolding that she gave the sailscale. He needed to get used to people, to trust them more once he realized that she wasn’t going to abandon him. But the ice female didn’t notice the rustle, too concerned about her companion. Her shock was evident by a squeak of surprise as the purple sailscale came out in a flash just as Talin’s knife did. So much for her sense of perception. She didn’t have time to think, her father’s swords were still in her bag and she didn’t have time to scramble to grab them. Barely thinking as the creature fought the knife, she made the grab, snagging its tail with a grunt as she hit the ground from the lunge. Namidu quickly jumped in front, hissing at the intruder as he flared himself out. The other sailscale might have been double his size, but he wasn’t going to let him hurt his master.
