question about fanfics: are you allowed to add yourself into the story as a minor character? not really anybody important to the original plot, but just an old friend of a character you'd be glad to be old friends with? 3nodding i've never done or read a fanfic, so... sweatdrop

Actually, I have three FF.net accounts. >.< I write Harry Potter, Final Fantasy and Yu-Gi-Oh...well, I did. hermionehobbit for nice, funny G and PG stuff, Not-so-untitled-document for some fluffy Yaoi, and Shinra Sephiroth for more in-depth Yaoi. wink

There are enough fanfics out there with self insertion where the writer makes him/herself the main character, or one of the main characters. I'd advice you read some of those fics first because most of them are really, really bad. See what you should avoid.

One tip: Avoid making yourself know too many things about the original characters! It sounds fake. But have fun trying!

I don't post storyes on that site but I LOVE 2 read stories on that site-especially Inuyasha fanfictions- those are my main reads. I have fanfiction stories though just no on that site because I cant get the url to 3nodding work

I've been writing fanfictions for over 3 years now, everything from Harry Potter to Cowboy Bebop, but before all my stories were just posted on a wedsite my friend and I ran. Long story short, I started posting FMA fanfics on FF.net recently. I have 6 little FMA blurbs on my account.

The thing is I've been reading alot of other FMA fanfics and I noticed something, no one ever flames. I'm serious about this. It doesn't matter how terrible the fanfic is. If its a Mary Sue with ten OC's, no grammar, no spelling and terrible smut (by terrible, I mean bad descriptions. I don't mind smut, just as long as its well-written.), people will still give a good or nice review.

Anyway I was wondering if this normal around the rest of the site. Are reviewers generally nice and don't flame? Or is the FMA section just weird that way?
