Situation 1: There are these girls in my class who (and this is the biggest understatement of the century) love anime. They draw it, talk about it and basically worship it. They are also shunned out of any social system. Now, I'm not the type to be big in the cliques and stuff but they defintly don't belong to any cliques. People make fun of them and laugh at them because of their obessesion. I talk to them but mostly try to stay clear of them because they figured out I love anime and they ask me questions like, "Ok! Who's fighting stance (Naruto) is this." And I'll be totally clueless and they're like, "It's *enter name hear*'s stance! Duh!" and look at me like I'm stupid or something.



Situation 2: I brought a manga book to school, Princess Ai. From that day forth I'm known as "Anime-girl" That really annoys me. I love anime but being that's really bias. Just because I like anime doesn't mean I don't have other interest, and they act like I don't.

Situation 3: One of the people in my class figured out I like anime, no biggie. We exchanged movies and talked about it. Then, his friends starting making fun of anime. He immediatly turned on me and started to make fun of it too. Soon, he was picking on me with his friends about anime.

Questions:

-Is anime really that bad?
-What do people have agaisn't it? I can understand if they don't like it but this is extreme.
-Why do people care do much if we do like it?
-How come anime is considerd porn but real girls in Bras on T.V. aren't?
-Did this ever happen to you or someone in your school?
-If you do hate anime, what do you have agaisn't it.

My concerns:
When people say I hate the anime style of writing, I think that is just plain stupid. There are over thousands of different types of styles and genres. It's like saying you hate books, or TV shows, different writer different acting/drawing style. All anime drawing styles are all different but they stay on the same animation level, (ex. eye, hair, and japanese clothing mostly.

Anime is just entertainment i do admit that some poeple go over board on it but they shouldnt be made fun of for something they like its like making fun a a guy that like football for liking football. Its stupid to make fun of them i know that in alot of cases people that make fun of anime liking people actualy like anime but dont want to be made fun of so make fun of the people that are open about liking anime...

I hate people who say anime isnt cool it just makes them sound like some wannabes who dont like stuff b/c there afraid it will hurt there reputation, nobody makes fun of me for liking anime I dont know why but I guess I have a good amount of respect that nobdy makes fun of me or they feel bad for me for some reason im not aware of O.O I under stand if some people think its lame and there just not into it but if your doing it only to procect your reputation it jsut shows what a loser you are

I think you care a little too much about what people think about you.If you like anime show it off! And those girls you say don't belong to any sort of group? Well your wrong. They belong to there own group of people who like what they like. If you like who you are now then you shouldn't worry about what other people think. If those people can't respect the fact that you like anime then you shouldn't be trying so hard to be liked by them. Trust me, you can make better friends who like everything about you. Including the anime.

I think what's cool and what isn't really depend on who you talk to. For example: I adore reptiles. I had a leopard gecko once that would sit on my shoulder all day at the pet shop where I worked. I thought this was the greatest thing, as did my co-workers. Everyone I worked with was smitten with him. But lots of people were terrified of him too. They didn't like reptiles.
I think the same can be said of any interest, anime included. Different people like different things, and those that are seen as weak or different will inevitably be singled out. It is the way of the world.
So if you're talking to someone who likes anime, it'll be cool, while if you're talking to someone who doesn't, well, they won't understand you. The same can be said if they turn the tables and start talking about, say, football. You may not know anything about football, or you just plin dislike it. You may even poke fun at that person for being a "brainless jock," even if they have other interests and make straight a's. People don't always fit into just one group, but often people on the outside of one group will only ever veiw them as what they see. A cheerleader, a jock, a computer nerd, and anime geek, it's all the same when you get right down to it, isn't it?

hehe sweatdrop my second Ex boyfriend really hates it but he's he's never watched anime or read manga. He got mad because i started getting all my friends into it xd !! It think that people who have never tried it say they don't like it but if someone really hates it and are picking on people who like it it's just because they think picking on anime/manga "geeks" makes them look cool. I don't give a crap if people think that what I like isn't cool. I read what I want to read. And besides, who cares if Anime is cool if you like it anyways? It's what you like, and if someone else thinks it's stupid, then it doesn't really matter. I'm not one of those crazy fans who talks about Anime all the time with my friends, and I wouldn't say that it's all I do, but just because someone likes Anime, it doesn't mean that they're not cool or that they don't have a group of friends or that they aren't popular. Anime is a form of entertainment and if people judge other people just because they like Anime or don't like Anime, then that's just stupid. End of rant.
