My name is April, I used to be a member of Gaia as a tween but I'm happy to be getting back into this site!
So, a few things about me...
I am a software developer and I mostly work with JavaScript and Ruby On Rails. I also know React and pretty much any SQL derived language.
also, if it weren't quite obvious yet, I am absolutely a Lesbian!
As well, I am a TransWoman!
Finally, I would totally consider myself to be AnQueer
I also enjoy playing music on my bass guitar and saxophones. I was at one point training to be a music teacher, but I dropped out of university. But honestly, I am happy with the life I am living now!
I like a wide variety of music! It's so hard to pick a favorite... but these days I've been listening to:
Girl in Red Kim Petras Moe Shop Addison Grace Rush Primus The Last Dinosaurs Rare Americans Folk Music
Anyway, thank you for reading this far into my profile! So far I've been consistent with updating my journal, so if you're interested it's open for viewing smile If you'd like to shoot me a DM feel free to hit me up! As well, feel free to send me a friend request, I'm currently looking for new friends!
This is a list of books that I have read recently and that I recommend. They are listed in the order that I read them, however this is not a guide on which books to read in what order. Any order of operations here is coincidental.
1. Satisfaction Guaranteed Author: Karelia Stetz-Waters April Score: 12/10
Thoughts: This is a wonderfully constructed wlw romance novel. The story made me laugh, made me cry, and hit me in some spaces I hate to admit that it hit me at. Cade and Selena in this book develop so well as characters, and I'm almost wanting more in the lives of Cade and Selena now that this book is finished. Hell, a part of me did not want to open this book today because I knew in the back of my head that if I started it, I would finish it, and I kinda wanted the story to keep going! Sadly, there is a final chapter, but every moment in this book kept me hooked and wanting more. There were days my roommate would come into the living room to play smash ultimate and I'd be like "Well, we can play smash after I finish this chapter" and even after putting down the book for one reason or another I would think "how do I get back to this one?" Overall, I highly recommend this book if you like romance literature. If you don't, then I still think this book is a good read altogether. There's a lot of gay in this novel, and a few scenes that are a bit in-detail. I'm certain this book is not intended for individuals under the age of 18 for that reason. That said, assuming you're at least 18, I can totally recommend this book!
How Do We Relationship? (Book 1) Author: Tamifull April Score: 9/10
Thoughts: This is my first manga since getting back into reading. Honestly, if you're keeping tabs at home here, you may notice this list is about to see some manga books in a mass splash. I swear, I'm not just some weeb who only reads manga or some nonsense. There's a reason why, and I'll explain more in my journal later. This particular novel is interesting, as it feels a lot like how I imagine the roller coaster "King Da Ka" feels like riding. They get into the meat and potatoes like a bat outta hell. Is this bad? No, it actually makes sense given that one of the main characters tends to rush things. "Hey, is this another gay romance book?" Why yes, it is. This will start to be a theme. Anyway, this is a fantastic first book in a series. It makes me want more, but also ends in a way that isn't cliff hangar-y. Like, I want more Saeko and Miwa, I'm GOING to read more of this series and get more Saeko and Miwa. I feel what makes me want more from this series is that the author has planted these little seeds of exposition that aren't exactly resolved. Like, you get an idea, but what happened isn't explained for some of these seeds. Overall, this book is hella gay, and I recommend giving it a read.
Bloom Into You (Books 5-8 ) Author: Nakatani Nio April Score: 20/10
Thoughts: This is the series that caused me an unfortunate amount of frustration. Mostly because the anime adaptation is not finished and leaves you in the middle of book friggin 5. I was intending to flip between manga romance and non-manga romance novels, but I guess Japan had other ideas. This isn't a story that I wanted to wait to finish as a hopeless romantic myself. I also almost didn't want to finish this book series because it's just TOO CUTE. Honestly, I kinda wanna see a book 9 but the story has to end somewhere. This is possibly one of the cutest, gayest books I have ever read. I won't say how this story ends or provide any spoilers as per the usual, but I will say that if you want a long love story filled with genuine human emotions, this series is fantastic. I never thought a book could make me cry out of joy, but this series caused some waterworks in my tear ducts, ngl. If you're at all interested in Yuri or wlw stories, or if you're into romance stories at any level, I completely recommend this series.
