Kayla's Journal
This is an account of Kayla's experiences at The Barton Academy of Gaiamancy.
I had a lot of homework to finish up over the weekend, so I didn’t get to go out much. And, Monday was a drag because I felt so tired. Mr. Horitt’s winning personality didn’t make things any better. He got rather frustrated when one kid had trouble understanding the one of his calculations. “You must not have woken up fully yet, or you’d have figured it out by now,” Horitt told him. “That is if you are actually capable of doing simple math.” I could tell from the murmmering of the class that this kid wasn’t the only one who didn’t understand the problem. I know I didn’t. But, no one was going to admit that.

Mrs. Unni’s class was much less stressful. We talked about phasing sigils mostly. I never realized how much there was to know about them before. For instance, although they can be manufactured from inert materials, it’s a special process of binding the materials together and infusing them with a conductive energy field that makes them useful as gaiamancy tools. Also, I found out that there are different types of phasing sigils used for different purposes. Mine has an amethyst on the end of it. This makes it most effective for manipulating forces associated with air. That explains why I had such a hard time using it to morph that stone block.

In other news, I received an e-mail from my friend, Hannah from back home in Penns Woods. She is still out of school for the summer, and will be taking a vacation next month to go to Winter Haven. I really envy her. It’s not easy cutting my summer vacation short to come here to school. It will be worth it, though. I hope.
