Muslim does not equal terrorist.
It's ignorant. Beyond ignorant even. It's down right insulting. Maybe it is this election, maybe it truly is bringing out the underlying fear some people have. People accuse Obama of being a Terrorist? Why, because they believe he is Muslim. Muslim does not mean terrorist. Muslim does not even come remotely close to meaning terrorist. Now, I understand that nasty rumors and things get said in an election, but to call someone a terrorist? To actually make that type of accusation. It's just juvenile... Do you realize how much of a major claim that is?
But what really upsets me is when people say that Obama is a Muslim, therefor he is going to blow us all up. First off, Obama isn't Muslim, but that isn't the part of this that really gets to me. What upsets me is the simple fact that people seem to be assuming Muslims are bad people in general. It's down right disgusting and totally prejudice when you think about it.
Muslims did not attack us. The Muslim faith has never hurt anyone. Muslims did not blow up the world trade centers, nor did they fly the planes into the Pentagon, or crash in Pennsylvania. Those were not Muslims. Muslim is a RELGION. A faith. A faith that has a God, and is generally a very peaceful religion.
Muslims aren't terrorists, and I'm growing rather sick of people seeming to think that by assuming Obama is a Muslim they have the proper justification for accusing him of being a terrorist. Sadly, people honestly think this way. I've had people tell me this. It really isn't awesome. Even if he was a Muslim, what difference would it make? It's time we learn to embrace our fellow human in a positive manner, rather then running in fear from what is different.
Those who conducted the attacks on September 11th we're extremists. Just as we have extremists in any faith. These are members of groups such as Al Quata and the Jihad. These terrible people should not be what we see when we see the Muslim or Islam culture/faith.
All I ask is that you remember the difference between extremist, and someone who follows a faith. This post honestly has very little to do with Obama. I just can't stand seeing people assume Muslims are terrorists. And remember Christians have extremists as well. Keep in mind those who bomb Abortion clinics in the name of life, or in a lesser example, the Phelps family, who stand on street corners screaming "Fags go to Hell!" and carry signs stating exectly that to SOLDERS FUNERALS. Keep in mind that there are bad people everywhere and in every faith. However, that doesn't eliminate the good as well.
Sorry for the really long post, I guess I felt like venting. If I offended you in this post, I'm sorry, but it's something I felt I needed to write.
