What Vaena lacks in pleasantries she makes up for in sourness. The stories from her childhood had her thinking from a young age that the evils in the world weren't just limited to outsiders and could come from within her own people. She looks at others like they could harbor the worst intentions, and treats them with caution. While not completely unwilling to give others a chance, she will not hesitate to turn her back once challenged or betrayed.
She believes that her views of others are typically right and justified, often looking down on those who might disagree with her, and disagreeing with Vaena is effectually the same as disagreeing with a rock, there is no changing her mind.
History: Vaena grew up the middle child of three in the city of Ilidan. Her father and his family had lived there longer than anyone could remember, perfecting their craft of altering and creating clothing. When her father was younger, he journeyed to Pajore for a delivery, only having the title of helper in the shop he was training under when he met Vaena's mother, a seamstress. As far as they'll say it was love at first sight, and they eloped together before returning to Ilidan to nestle in and become a family. With her father returning home to the lineage once more, the wedding was quickly accepted, being seen as a blessing from the gods.
Soon after, they were blessed with their first child: Vaena's older sister Mehlna. When Vaena had been born only a couple of short years later, Mehlna had started to show signs of being 'chosen'. It was when Vaena was about four that the Sanctum came for Mehlna. Though the family was ecstatic and joyous, thankful for their blessings to their family from the gods, Vaena didn't understand it. All she knew was she wouldn't see her sister again after this, and never would. She saw it as a curse, and was angry at the gods to take her sister from her.
When her younger sister Devra was born, Vaena was constantly on the alert. Would they take her from Vaena as well? She would watch her sister every day, waiting to see what the sign would be that she would lose another of her family to the gods, leaving her alone, but it never happened.
