Appearance: Jelanii is tall and well built, without being overly muscular. He has straight chin-length black hair with a streak of blue. He has a handsome face and piercing orange eyes.
Clothing: Rich, silken clothing, resplendent as far as Matori clothing goes.
Accessories:A yellow shell, like the one Cerith wears on her forehead, around his neck on a thin strip of leather.
Personality:
Once gentle and accepting, Jelanii has grown into an angry young man that questions everything. He doesn’t shrink away from confrontation and is determined to move towards his goal no matter what. He has also become proud, unwilling to bend to the will of those around. He is determined to be a better man, one that his sister could be proud of. One he could be proud of.
Due to the deceit of his parent, he never takes anything at face value anymore. He understand now that people will lie for their own goals, even those a person is closest too. So he strives to reach his own conclusions of what the world is and his own place in it. And right now his conclusion had led him to two things.
One – the Oban shouldn’t exist. The world would be better if they’re existence was totally wiped from it.
Two – the world needs to change and if no one is willing to do it, then he will.
He is unaware of just how dangerous his thinking is, but he is set on his course. He will change the world to a better one, one of freedom and independence. A better world, his world. And not even the constraints of family, tribes, and tradition will stop him.
As Jelanii grows older so does the need driving him. It, combined with his stubborn determination, gives him a strength of will that can led him down a dark path or one of good.
3 Base Traits:
Fierce - Jelanii won't back down no matter the odds. Even if he appears too he refuses to let go. He'll fight until he wins or die trying.
Independent - He doesn't care what others think of him. For him, the only opinion that matters is his own.
Driven - He plans to find his siter, explore the world, and change it to a better one. Nothing else matter more than that.

≈History≈
This part is from the original adoption. Written by Scarlett Arbuckle.
The older brother to Cerith, this Matori was raised the second child of a family of four children growing up in Setal where he grew up harvesting cappa grass, a plant that is used to make silk goods. This water family came from a long tradition of tithing, in that family members would be nominated from birth to be given to Oban slavery, in exchange for their village not being ransacked by slavers. All his childhood, he was raised as that tithe - told he would be giving up when he was around ten years old. When the time finally came, he traveled with his father, brother, and younger sister Cerith to make the exchange.
For whatever reason, Cerith was handed over instead. There has not been any news in the nearly twelve years hence as to what became of the girl.
Next part by me.
The life Jelanii had before he can barely remember anymore. Sometimes he’ll have flashes. Flashes of moments that tore at his gut as he remembered his twin sister. The way she smiled up at him, like he was worth something, like he could protect her. In the end he didn’t protect her, barely even moved to stop what was happening.
No, whatever life Jelanii had before was just a dream that has been brushed away by harsh reality. His life started the day Cerith was taken away.
~~~
Jelanii remembers many things about his twin sister. The way she smiled, bright and wonderful, so different for his own slow and cautious one. People often remarked how different the twins were, but despite their differences they were close, so close. Cerith would follow after him as he trained for his future role as the tithe for their village. And her eyes glimmered at the 'honor' bestowed upon her brother.
But that day her eyes didn't hold the glimmer he was so used to. Instead they were round with shocked followed with a dullness that never should have appeared on his sister's face. He watched on as the slavers took her, wrapped her hands in leather cuffs.
Move, Jelanii, move.
He didn't move, instead his feet felt stuck in mud, his body heavy as if pinned down with boulders.
The slavers began leading her sister to the slaves. His parents stood silently beside him, his father hands firm on his shoulder as if to hold him there. Together they watched as his sister was tied together with the line of other slaves.
What are you doing? Are you just going to watch them take her away?
Still he didn't move.
The slavers tested the tie and then called out something that Jelanii couldn't make out. The words buried under a buzzing strumming through his body, building and building. He tried to piece it all together, but his mind felt shattered, and he couldn't see past the shards of consciousness stabbing through his skull.
Then, for just a moment, Cerith looked back at him. Their eyes met and he wasn't sure she was even really seeing him, but just that meeting of eyes was enough to make everything else fall away and he surged forward.
Or he tried to surge forward. His father tightened his grip, holding him down and just as swiftly his mother stepped in front of him. She grabbed his face, forcing him to look at her, her grip painful. She was saying something, but all he could hear was the slavers call to move and the shuffling of feet. Shuffling feet and one pair was his sister's.
He listened until they were gone, until all he could hear was the sound of dust being taken up by a stray breeze.
Finally his mother's word pierced through the veil that had been draped over his mind.
"It's an honor, Jelanii. An honor."
~~~
After that day the wrongness of everything came crashing down on him. Until then, he always accepted, listened to the words of his parents, of the village elders, but now their words seemed hollow, their movements filled with deceit. And In Jelanii’s heart an anger began to build. The waves of it crashed against his body, jerking him from conversations. Sometimes he would hear the elders talk to him, sprouting words of duty and loyalty and the waves would knock through his brain. Those moment he would abruptly walk off, the disgust and anger filling him to the brim until it was rushing to overflow.
When his body can no longer hold it in he would cut through the words with a sharp tongue, questioning those around him, staring them down with fierce eyes. For those younger than him he became this wondering presence, a force of nature that left everything broken in its way. This admiration the younger folks held for him and in some cases even tried to imitate caused the older villagers to resent him. They avoided him, tried to ignore him where they could, but Jelanii was hard to annoy. His presence brought too much unrest.
For his part Jelanii didn’t care if he was disliked. He partly disliked himself as well, but not for the same reasons as the Elders. No, he wanted to be stronger, to be braver, to be a man who was worthy of the new duty he set out for himself. So often he would break from the village, either swimming deep into the lake or travelling into the woods to gather his thoughts and train his body and mind. He knew he had to be capable of fighting, of dominating those around him. He was no longer the boy tithe to become a slave and the boy would never come back.
As time passed, the anger grow and with it a need for answers. But what answers he wasn’t sure. He realized he wasn't even sure what the question was. It wasn't until the Water Earthlings were freed that Jelanii realized what the question that had been pushing inside him truly was.
Can I live in this world?
No. Not like this.
And so Jelanii decided that no longer would he spend his life closed up inside his village. Instead he would go out and explore, see new people, discover new answers, and somehow make this world something he and people like his sister could live in. He would make it better. But first he would find his sister. And perhaps she would forgive him for not stopping his father, for just accepting something that should never have been accepted. Perhaps, together, they could help build a world that not only they could survive in, but where they could really live.
♚Cerith (*****) - She is his twin sister. He cares very deeply for her, thinking there is no other woman who could ever replace her in his heart. Reuniting with her didn't go as he had hoped, but he is ecstatic she decided to travel with him.
"The Obans have obviously brainwashed her, but we will both overcome it together."
~
♟Illian (****) - A shifter he met in a street brawl. He found him very graceful and a truly speculator fighter. He hopes to get to know him better.
"If you could have seen him. It felt like time froze and...ah, sorry, I'm rambling."
~
♟Istanell (****) - Another shifter he met in a street brawl. He was impressed that the shifter said everything Jelanii was thinking.
"I hope that we'll have more fights side-by side, though hopefully he'll be able to stay on his feet next time."
~
♟Kani (****) - A beautiful Matori woman Jelanii met who helped give him important information in the search for his twin.
"It would have been nice to speak with her longer. Perhaps we will meet again in the future."
~
♝Kalliope (****) - An oban girl who knows him as only Azure. He helped her find her way when she was lost. She is a friend to Azure even if Jelanii can never be one.
