[Sanctuary on the Moon - Moon City]

About Moon City

As a result of the tensions in the city as well as the growing population of senshi, it's become quite painfully clear to that things cannot continue as they are. There is nowhere for the senshi to get to know each other, to learn how to be a team, or that they might discuss their problems and argue their differences without being attacked.

Following an attack on a recent gathering, the power (and a vision) of the Moon Queen Serenity unlocked the ancient technology from the Moon once more. Stored in the Guardian Cat Central is a very large jar full of small, luminous pearls on looped strings -- actually they're cell phone charms. Similar to the passports of the Surrounding these pearls glow brighter and brighter with the phases of the moon, dimming again when the moon's glow vanishes from the sky.

Any and every senshi on the side of Order can ask any guardian cat or senshi that knows a guardian cat to have one of these. What do they do?

Why they take you to the Moon! When that pearl glows with the brightness of the full moon in the sky, all you have to do is look up and focus your thoughts and your energy. It's exactly like going to your personal planet only you are focusing...elsewhere.

Once you have focused you will find yourself standing in the most ruined part of the Moon Palace, the old spire from which Sailor Moon once spoke to her mother, the stone from which the sword of Silver Crystal was drawn. Looking across the gardens you would see that they have grown back over time, wild and verdant as they overtake walkways, vines climbing up pillars.

The palace, though indeed ruined, is also in a useable state. There is rubble on the floor, some windows are shattered, but a full wing of the palace is able to be used. There are large reception rooms, a library full of unreadable books, anywhere that a group of senshi might need to congregate!

Yet there are still mysteries to be wondered. Perhaps the most well-preserved portion of the palace is a hallway wing filled with odd doors of every shape, size, and color with unrecognizable symbols on them. These doors do not open for anyone....not even Sailor Chibimoon! Kurma cannot even magically teleport himself into one of these rooms and though there are windows, they do not show anything...just an empty room with nothing inside.

Sealed by the power of the Moon are two places: the throne room where the throne of the Moon sits and the wing of the palace where the queen and her family lived. Large curtains of falling silver light prevent entrance to any of these places by anyone.

What does this mean for me?

Senshi now have a sanctuary in the ruins of the old Moon Palace. There are several large rooms that can be used for gathering, meeting, anything that anyone might want to do with a large group of powered characters that Chaos cannot touch. They can work out their differences, form stronger alliances, or just rest away from the turmoil of Destiny City.

This is accessed by a small pearl phone charm which can be given to you by any guardian cat, or any senshi who has access to a guardian cat. You may choose to RP this or just handwave that your senshi got their pearl somewhere. Please see the rules below for how often you can go to the sanctuary!

Important!! There is a hallway of odd doors none of which open as well as several places in the palace which cannot be accessed. The throne room and the royal residence wing of the palace are at the moment protected by a waterfall of silver light. As of right now there is no way around this. You cannot climb in windows, destroy the doors, or walk through the light. I do not suggest trying.

Rules for Moon City

* Once in possession of a pearl you can only travel to the moon three days a month. They are always the same three days: the day before the full moon, the day of the full moon, and the day after the full moon.
This will conicide with Real Life full moon dates, aka the next opportunity will be July 31 - Aug 2nd. Rps must be started in those time frames but of course can take longer to complete.
If you have a plot reason for needing to go to the moon any other time please contact the mule and they will try to work with you.

* What about knights? Knights may go to the moon but they will require a senshi to chauffer them. Time to make friends guys!

* Negaverse officers, corrupt senshi, and Dark Mirror senshi cannot access the Moon Sanctuary. Senshi cannot bring them, they cannot come, they are bounced right back off. There is a very strong magic protecting this place, rejecting all Chaos.

* Off limits means off limits! Being on the Moon is not a casual thing, it's a very historically important place. The magic wouldn't let you in but lets just honor the contract, shall we?

* Though these are Deep Space forum RPs they are not limited to the amount that you can do. As long as they are set on the proper three days you can do as much RP as you want on the moon. (Please label them as [Moon])

* This is not your homeworld. Unless it is prompted by a member of the staff and mods for some special reason you do not have memories of your past here, nor can you see the past of the Moon family in traditional ways. There is the possibility to discover small clues via things you find but players should not be remembering interacting with canon characters, nor trying to create canon information without first talking to staff.
(Aka, no one should find a letter telling about the fall of the Moon Kingdom, or a diplomatic letter to Beryl or whatever unless it’s been sent through a plot proposal and okayed by GMs.)

For quite some time now there have been so many people left in the dark about the metaplot of In the Name of the Moon. What happened where, when, why, how, all those questions that new players do not know. Everything they hear comes from other players and there has not been, until now, an official summary of what the metaplot for the shop has consisted of.

So with a bit of hard work and collaboration we finally have an official metaplot summary for you all to read. It is very long! There is no TL;DR for this; this is the TL;DR! Some events, you will notice, were not precisely designed as 'metaplot'. They were player events that impacted the shop so greatly that they became a part of the fabric of things.

Something also to please keep in mind as you read this: your character's age in the shop affects their knowledge. We have staff that have been in the shop every step on the metaplot path and know which characters were present for which events, things they would know, things they would not know. This is an OOC resource for players to know our story, not an IC resource for characters to know the history of what has been going on.

Thank you very much and we hope you enjoy!

Branches of the Negaverse -- Updated!

Many, many of you have been confused at the changes in the Negaverse over the past few months and we really want to thank you for your patience while we tried to address the concerns you had about the concept when it was presented. We have updated both the Negaverse faction thread as well as added a Branch Roster so that the changes are much more streamlined as well as making the information about them accessible. Please make sure to read every post since there have been minor changes to the duties of the Negaverse at every rank, the role of corrupt senshi, and how Ascended work OOCly in terms of art.

If you still have questions please don't hesitate to ask in our Management QnA thread or PM one of our Chaos moderators to ask them for assistance.

Youma Battling for Requirements

One of the policies from the early shop when there were twice as many senshi as Negaverse officers, with less than fifty characters in the shop overall, was to allow Order characters to battle playerless youma for their battle requirements. Yet as the shop has grown we find that this has discouraged RP amongst the player base and causes a gross imbalance in the power level.

For example:

Sailor Moon can get all the way to Eternal without having battled more than two Chaos characters in her entire existence! She’s never done anything but battle youma.

Beryl has to find a senshi or another officer to spar with her or she cannot get her battle requirements. This stifles growth in the Negaverse which results in a power imbalance amongst the factions.

Effective immediately for new battles, meaning that if you have an RP open you may finish it, you may not battle youma more than once per every stage of growth for the purpose of meeting growth requirements. More battles with youma may be performed but only one may be applied towards growth to the next stage. Events run by the staff do not count into this once per stage limitation.

For Order players some of you are now wondering how the heck you’re supposed to get your growth requirements filled! Well, we’re going to suggest the same things for you that we suggest to our Chaos players, thus evening out the playing field:

- You may spar or even attack players of your own faction. This counts as a battle requirement.
- You may fight members of the Chaos faction or, depending on how they feel about you, spar with them as well. This counts as a battle requirement.
- You get permission from the staff to have a friend play a NPC member of the Chaos faction that your character(s) will kill. This counts as a battle requirement.

This is being done to encourage more cross-faction RP which is, of course, the whole point of our shop! Thank you everyone for your understanding and please do not be afraid to ask questions if you are unclear as to what is and is not allowed under this revised policy.

AND SECONDLY --

For quite some time now template splicing or 'frankentemping' has been an unofficial, yet very present part of our shop. There have been several questions or concerns about what is or is not possible regarding this process so we are now going to post solid rules as well as clarify a few policies that have been mostly informal and are now being confirmed or done away with.

Please Note! --

- Template splicing is an option, not a guarantee. Please consult your artist of choice as to whether they are comfortable doing any splice at all and then the splice you have in mind. Please keep in mind that splices are usually upper body and lower body, not pieces/parts of each type.

Rules for Template Splicing on Powered Characters:

- Eyes may be used from any template on any other template.
- Arms may be used from any template on any other template as long as they have a purpose. For example if you need an arm from one template to hold something on the body of another template, you may mix and match as long as those arms have a reason to be used.
- You may not put non-feline characters on the feline head, legs, or torso for either male or female. This is to keep the rarity of those lines rare.

Rules for Editing Templates for Powered/Civilian Characters:

- With the exception of swapping eyes from one template to another and editing the mouth to show an expression you may not edit the face of the templates at all. This includes the shape of the head. This is for both powered and civilian characters.
- You may not edit the anatomy of the templates unless it is to make a template splice fit the pieces used and only should be done with a purpose. Purposes include holding a weapon for a knight or a Negaverse officer, or making the template fit the actual gender of the character such as adding or removing breasts.
- You may edit the bust on a female template to be larger or smaller within reason. For example, Sailor Albali is more full-figured than normal so her chest is slightly larger. Howlite is a more lean woman so her chest would be all but flat. This is considered a reasonable edit. However if proportions become skewed we will ask you to change them. This is for both powered and civilian characters.
- The gender restriction on powered and civilian templates has been lifted. Males and females may cross gender lines on templates with bust/chest edits as fits their character. Obviously men will not have fully-formed breasts but someone that identifies as female and stuffs a bra could very well be made to look as if they are a man with breasts. Please consult your artist of choice to see if they are willing to take on characters that require these heavy edits.

We are excited to bring you...

...something that we think is going to be very exciting for everyone in the shop! For a long time it's been a component of the shop that our Order-aligned players have been able to access their planets and wonders, giving them glimpses into the people they had been (or their lineage) a thousand years ago. Now, for the very first time, we've created a forum for everyone to roleplay those past selves in a way that we hope will be fun and perhaps meaningful!

Welcome to Past Lives!

Again we want to be clear: this is for every character in the shop. But more than that it is optional. If you have zero interest in this concept and wish it never existed that is absolutely alright because it does not effect your experience in the shop as these RPs will not be allowed to count towards anyone's growth requirements. If you have a Chaos character and always wanted to join in the fun of past life plotting with Order characters, here is your chance!

We ask that you please read every thread before diving in. We like to think that our rules are not very complicated or our information too verbose but there was a lot we wanted to express when making this available to the shop as a whole. However I (Nessy) and several of our other staff members will be around today to answer any potential questions you might have.

Please also keep in mind that with every new policy things are subject to change per player feedback when we see our systems in play for the first time. We actually tried to extensively test this before releasing it but sometimes things change when more than five people are messing with it! We hope very much that you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed making it for you.

-- The RP Staff

Past Life RP of Dead Characters --

We realize that some of our players have, for reasons of their own, chosen to kill some of their characters in the current timeline. This does not, however, mean that their characters did not exist and have full lives a thousand years ago.

It is because of this that we've chosen to allow those players to resurrect their characters to be played only in our Realms of the Past forum. There are, however, several stipulations:

  • Negaverse officers being resurrected for this purpose cannot take legitimate wonders. They must create their own.
  • You may not play a rank higher than that obtained by the character before their death. For example Sailor Moon died as Super Senshi. She cannot be played in the past as anything stronger than that.
  • Just because you can RP them in this past life way does not mean you will be able to resurrect them in the current timeline.

So your mileage may vary on whether this is a positive or negative bit of policy we are putting into place, however it's a policy that we've been talking about for quite some time. Considering some of the concerns that have been addressed to us as staff we decided to go ahead and finally make this a reality.

Fourth Stage Depowerment --

When a player is awarded a fourth stage character in our shop it is because we want to recognize them for their contributions to the community, for their excellent plots, and we want to give them a greater opportunity to keep on doing these things. However we've found in the past that this is not always the case and with great power comes great responsibility, and sometimes greater abuse.

So as of right now we are setting down a policy that operates thusly:

- If a player of a fourth stage character receives a significant amount of legitimate player complaints in reference to godmoding, harassment, bullying, or other unacceptable behavior towards the player complaining, the fourth stage player will receive a warning from staff asking them to stop.
- If the behavior persists and the staff receive more legitimate player complaints related to the same behavior, we will depower that person's character from a fourth stage character to a third stage character. ICly your character will not be able to access that fourth stage power or do the things that a fourth stage would usually be able to.
- This is not meant to be a permanent depowerment. If the player's behavior improves the character will be re-powered. If we have to depower a character more than twice then the odds are the third time will indeed be permanent.
- This is not meant to be anything other than a last-resort punishment when a player abuses the power granted to them by staff. We hope to never have to enact this policy but did feel that considering a past incident that protecting our players was important. This is applicable to all fourth stage characters whether they belong to a staff member or belong to a player.

Lately we've been getting PMs with misconceptions and questions about our cosplay policy and what is and is not allowed. We thought that this information was readily available for you guys to read and know but it was not! So we wrote it up for you all~

Cosplay Policy --

Direct cosplays such as a character with the same look and written personality as a culture character is not allowed.

Indirect cosplays such as a character with the same look and a different personality is allowed. For example we have several characters that look like they are from Final Fantasy such as Scheelite, Zinkenite, or Serandite and often they are the ones mentioned when we are questioned about our policies. However their character profiles do not correspond to the personalities of the characters their looks reference.

Tribute characters such as a character that has been inspired by a culture character is allowed as it is not a cosplay. For example Sailor Kythera is decorated with what are known as 'grief seeds' from the series Madoka, gold bands in her hair similar to around the ears of the character Kyubey, and even her name references the name with the initials QB. However the majority of her physical concept and her personality is separate from the tribute. Sailor Nemesis is also a very cool way to be inspired by a TWEWY pin!

EXAMPLE -- You really like the character Yuna from Final Fantasy X. You think everything about her is fantastic. You write up a character that when it comes to her personality traits and physical look, is Yuna in every way, shape, and form. This is not allowed. However you could...

Indirect -- Use her hair. Heterochromia is obviously not allowed but you could have green or blue eyes instead. Perhaps she's very into Japanese-style clothing or really short spanky shorts but instead of being a selfless sort of girl, she's selfish, sorta mean. Obviously she's physically Yuna but in personality perhaps reminds you more of your bitchy friend from high school.

Tribute -- Perhaps your character has long blonde hair but you wanted that Yuna bead charm going on, that's cool. Powered up maybe she uses a staff of similar design to the ones that Yuna might have used or the sleeves from her FFX Summoner's Garb. Your character is clearly not Yuna but there are ways that clearly are referenced from the character you love so much.

Requirements Policy --

It has been brought to our attention that people are doing what we call tiering their requirements such as swapping one extra battle for three regulars, and then using those three regulars to fulfill their solo requirements and this is something that our players are finding uncomfortable. While before it has never said you cannot do that we are now expressly saying that you cannot as well as enacting changes to make this impossible in the future. Those that are currently in the growth queue are safe but if you have not posted in the growth queue as of this post you will have to use our new requirements.

However we are also changing slightly how requirements work! You will still be doing the exact same amount of RP but the kind of RP you do will be almost entirely up to you. The new RP requirements, per stage, are as follows:

First Stage > Second Stage: 13x RPs, 5 BATTLE MINIMUM, 8x SOLO (AND/OR ITEM EQUIVALENT)
Second Stage > Third Stage: 18x RPs, 6 BATTLE MINIMUM, 12x SOLO (AND/OR ITEM EQUIVALENT)

** You may swap any extra RPs you have over the thirteen and eighteen RP requirement for three solos each.

What does this mean? Well if you look at the old requirements we just added battle and regulars together to get the number of required RPs with battle minimums being the same. Solo counts are untouched.

We were then confronted with how to prevent the tiering of requirements so we went back to look at why people would be doing that. Battles have been, for a very long time, worth three regulars and three solos making it very easy to do more battles than required to cover your requirements and doing perhaps only half the RP. So we could have come up with a bunch of convoluted rules of what could be swapped for what, or you could only do this kind of RP by a purple moon on the seventh Sunday of April, but doing this was much simpler.

TL;DR? You must do the same amount of battles as always but instead of then having to do x amount of regulars you may do nothing but battles if you so desire. If you fulfill your thirteen/eighteen requirement count and don't want to do solos any RP you do (battle or regular) can be swapped for three solos. The ratio of battle to regular has been changed from 1:3 to 1:1 with battle/regular to solo remaining 1:3.

Thank you!

Have you ever found yourself wondering "Who the hell are all these weirdos on Moonshop staff?? I don't even know who this Nessy chick even is!! Is she a magical unicorn or something?!" well wonder no more.

WONDER. NO. MORE.

We have created a thread for this!

Each staff member has their own post with what they do, a bit about themselves in the cases of some, as well as the best way to contact them and their likes/modes of communication. A big thing is a lot of people aren't sure how to communicate with staff or if we're shy or just busy. Hopefully this will help you guys feel more comfortable in the future!

Been meaning to do this for some time...

Does your character own a business? Do they frequent a certain shop, work at a certain restaurant, do they have that Chinese place down the street they just love? Any place that you think would be neat for the rest of the shop to know about goes in this register. Basically it's like our Galactic Almanac, but all about Destiny City businesses and hangouts!~

EDIT: Holy smokes you guys.

Ness was dragging her feet on this and put up something that was okay, but you could tell it probably wasn't her best work. Then Tish comes along and goes "Oh hey, I noticed this needed doing and was wanted so I did it. Would you like my work?". Nessy fell over in tears of gratitude and you get this amazing thing instead.

I might be out of a job soon. I am sleeping with one eye open.

Just a quick announcement! One of the things we've been working on for awhile is getting more template options into the shop to keep things fresh and unique! Plus hey, we have really talented artists and want to make it interesting for them too. So over time you're going to see new templates cropping up in the Customs Information thread which are brand-new templates and extreme splices (three or more templates into one) that have been made available to all the colorists for the whole shop!

Minor splices (two templates) will still generally be individual to the colorist depending on the piece they are working on though some minor splices have also been made available for everyone! Because...why not? That's pretty awesome, right?

I love our staff.

Cooldowns --

I'm going to discuss all of our cooldowns in this post so that everyone knows what is what, what goes where, and then I'm going to tell you how civilian cooldowns have changed across the board. These cooldowns apply to players as well as staff!

Powered Cooldowns --

  • You may only get ONE new powered character every THREE months through customs.
  • You may only get ONE piece of alternate powered art every THREE months be it a custom or a gift from staff. This is not on the same timer as new powered characters.
  • Natsube powered customs are on a SEPARATE timer from shop powered customs and you will have to work that out with her if you are purchasing one.

All timers are to the day, not to the month. If you won a custom on January 5th for a powered character you are eligible to get another by April 5th (Jan, Feb, March being three whole months).

Civilian Cooldowns --

This is all new so I'm going to explain it in detail. When I am done you will quote o-Nessy-o with questions if you have them.

  • You may get either ONE alternate civilian piece of art or ONE new civilian character by gold means per month. This means customs, generally.
  • You may get either ONE alternate civilian piece of art or ONE new civilian character by free means per month. This means being gifted by a staff member, Quest Fairies, or freebie raffles.
  • You may not get more than ONE new civilian character per month by any means.

All timers are to the day, not to the month. If you won a custom on February 5th for a civilian character you are eligible to get another by March 5th.

What does this mean? Well I hope it's pretty self-explanatory but lets go into depth.

By gold means means that if any of our artists open up gold customs you may get ONE new civilian or alternate art for an existing civilian through this means per month.

By free means means that if Nessy decides to give you a new civilian or a piece of alternate civilian art then you cannot enter any freebie raffles for the month. The reverse is also true: if you've won a freebie raffle then you cannot be gifted by staff for that month.

IN SHORT: You can get no more than two pieces of civilian art a month be it alternate art for an existing character or a new civilian entirely. One can be purchased with gold and one can be obtained for free but you cannot get two free or two paid or any more than two.

Starting Februrary 1st everyone will be clean-slated with a reset for this new policy. This means if you got a civ by any means in January then your wait time is reset to zero on the first of the month for civilians only!

Cooldown Registry

Spearheaded by the awesome listmasters of Sunshine and Guine, they've helped us to create a registry of cooldowns. Basically, if you've won a custom anytime in the past few months for anything, it'll be in this thread. It'll hopefully be updated to the day but if it's not, don't worry! As long as it's past the date listed on the registry nobody is going to hassle you.
