AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM

Name: Billy Ailill Do-ire (Billy Goat on all official paperworks and usages. Wouldn't want his real name getting out now would he?)
Nicknames: Billy Goat, Goat, Billy (never Bill)
Gender: Male
Age: 15

Faction: Demon
Race: Fae, Unseelie court (not Unseelie common winged)

Natural Ability: Come Follow Me - A little bit of magic that makes him a bit more intriguing to whoever looks, enough that they might take a step in his direction, and another....

Personality: Billy is stubborn and stuck up like well... a goat. He wants what he wants and he wants to get it. He has a slight brogue accent despite the fact his family hasn't been haunting Ireland since travel to the human world was cut off. It's more habit, because that's how his dad talked, and his dad, and his dad's dad, and so on. He's sarcastic and straightforward, prizing realism over unrealistic dreaming. He absolutely loves to play little tricks, like tripping people, hiding their lunch, and more. he enjoys a good laugh, and amusing company. he has no time for those stuck up, but that's more because he feels like he is outside their influence. It's how he's been raised.

Billy enjoys his friendships, and his casual acquaintances. He's right there to jump in and help out with any scheme he deems amusing or fun, but may not be able to be found if he know's what you're going to ask of him and finds it boring, stupid, or is simply feeling too lazy. But that doesn't mean he's lazy, if it sounds like a good time he'll most likely try it, former lazy mood or not.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy?
His family pretty desperately wants to get back in touch with their roots in Ireland. They begrudge their lost days of human-kidnapping and tricking. Billy now, only knows about it in stories (his parents and their parents only knew it in stories too), but it sounds pretty darn fun to him, so he's hoping going to Amityville will give him a better chance at getting a human-world passport for some good-old-fashioned-fun.

FEAR Ability: I'm Going to Headbutt you Now ~ (Offensive, Headlights) Or so it seems. Billy projects the feeling that he's rearing back about to smash you in the forehead with all the might of an asteroid coming down. Meanwhile since you've hopefully been affected and distracted (or he very luckily managed to stun you) he can use all manner of unsavory tricks to beat you.

Physical Description:

Eye Colour: Goldish-brown. Has an ovalish goat-pupil
Hair Colour/Style: Shaggy Black and Gray (mostly black), Again, hair is shaggy, and remains thick on the backs of his shoulders tapering down triangle-like along his back. (I'm sure you've seen fantasy picks of something similar, I'm having trouble finding refs)
Skin Colour: Caucasian, Somewhat tan since he's normal shirtless
Clothing Style/Colours: Scottish kilt, green and black plaid. With breacan. Image ref, Text ref, under 'Scottish Kilts history, 1st and 2nd paragraph Accessories on the kilt are silver, and usually resemble bones (he actually has one tooth from Old batty's denture cleaning). (His family feels the kilt is a celtic symbol and likes it. It's easier to put on or take off than anything else, should they need to get down on all fours and pretend to be goats etc.)
Extra: Billy basically looks like an Irish Goat stood up on two legs. If he was a shorthair type goat you could see some of his bones are positioned differently so he can stand upright normally, and that his hooves are actually hands, his fingers coming together to resemble the part of a goat's leg above the hoof rather than flat like human hands. His fingers are tipped with hoof-like bone that's rather sharp on the edges. He speaks normally, if a bit accented. He's got huge goat-horns like the breed he mimics.

EDIT: Note that with Vamp's answer to my question, he's taking a more faun look. I'd like to opt for him to be able to either have the original concept goaty natural form (which is basically goat with more bipedal bone structure) or Develop the natural ability in his second year to either create the illusion he's more goat-like or actually change his form that little bit (pretty much growing the fur and elongating his face from standard humanized)
References: An Irish Goat Original Concept ref original Concept Ref 2 (he would have just been... hairier...

Familial History

Billy is from a family of fae-demons that originally focused their FEAR gaining in Ireland. His great great grandpappy loved to wander about on the moors leading herdsmen away with the lure of a lost goat. His ancestors got along fairly well with a family of will-o-wisps and they often teamed up. The will-o-wisps taught them a trick or two, and they taught them in return.

Fae used to have the strength and ability to choose their own appearance. (According to some of the base myths) Most likes smaller things like brownies and sprites, Billy's ancestors chose to favor goats. While Billy's family line can't change their forms really anymore, they've still bred true to their blood and retain their very goaty appearances, and don't normally marry things with wings etc. They derive great pleasure from being able to seem something so mundane as a goat, and feel they chose the smarter choice than their smaller or winged brethren, you see, they have less trouble with average-sized furniture and clothes and wings catching or dragging on who-knows what. They think their ancestors chose the smartest, and are smug about it.

Edit: He doesn't know anything really about the human world. His family doesn't either. They're clinging to little shreds of bedtime stories.

Secondary Edit: Billy's family, while having ended up similar to fauns, are absolutely no related. Think of it like similarities in cultures that pop up in isolated locations on different sides of the globe.

I Have A Question!

After seeing a couple characters like Grier and Gargantuan I came to the tentative conclusion that a humanoid goat would be acceptable. However, I'm uncertain how human he needs to be. I'd like him at the very least to keep a goat-like head and face (altered to be more human shaped if needed) and his fur and eyes. It's be nice to keep his legs jointed more like faun-goat legs and his hands like they are too if possible. If he doesn't look like he would fit whatever fixing is done I do have an alternative quest idea.

I am simply uncertain, you see.

Severely Humanified Tektek
With this I am worried he would be confused with a faun, but here's a general idea-look. Tektek doesn't really have furry arms/tops or goat face masks etc.
User Image Kitomyx is better at tektek making him than me --> User Image

In Light of vamp's input (thanks again) I realize Billy will have to look more faun like, it's simply important to remember he's not a faun (generally nature gods in greco-roman mythology) but a Fae from celtic mythology, which have similarities, but their own regional differences. So saying, the first tektek I made would be similar to what he looks like (except he does have goat eyes)

Please Do:

1. Look at my quest.
2. Give me a Critique to help me make him fit better with Shop Cannon, or help me expand anything that needs to be expanded and improve Billy in general.
3. Have your friends come take a look and give me a critique.
4. Feel free to be honest and blunt. You don't have to dance around my feelings.

Please Don't :

1. Consider him finished yet, he, like every student and character made, is an evolving thing.
2. Say this is horrible never try it and be pessimistic. I need constructive criticism, not flaming. ((If staff does not think he will work then he will not work. I'll move on.))
3. Steal the idea for Billy, Billy is my OC, I have not copied him from anywhere, I pulled him out from my own brain following an idea about classical celtic fae.

Haha, this is such a cool character concept! Billy, huh? I like how he's an Unseelie Fae and classified under Demon instead of something more general like 'Monster'.

Also like how you associated him with goats, which is also associated with fae like Puck, nature gods & creatures like Pan and Satyrs, and, (when people were trying to say that nature was barbaric) demons and the devil. Seems like a good mischeif-maker, to be sure!

You're very welcome, but now I recall that I never quite got to give him the proper inspection I meant to. XD Thank you for reminding me! What a perfect time to do that now.

Ah, and I'm so sorry I didn't get to meet him during Fright Night. sweatdrop I really would have liked to, but school was really hectic at the time. Hopefully I might sometime in the near future~ heart

1. Names - About his real name...you mention he wouldn't want that getting out. Is that because he might be ashamed of it, because of the saying that true names hold power, or some other reason~? Not really all that important in the whole scheme of things, but it did spark my curiosity. Heheh, his nickname and his appearence as an Irish goat reminds me of the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff.

2. Aesthetics - Hmm, I really like how you described his hand position, though I wish I had a visual for that. Do you know if you or someone willing might be able to sketch it up? Is it similar to, say, how Nightcrawler from X-men Evolution: The Animated Series kept his fingers spaced apart, even with his human hologram on?

You say his fingers are tipped with hoof-like bone...would that make them claws or nails made from the same material and density/durability as goat hooves? You also say they're sharp - does that make them pointed like claws or cloven hooves, or are they rounded like cut human nails and hooves, only with sharp edges?

Curious...does his shaggy goat hair/fur ever get in his eyes? Does it cover them most of the time, or is he often brushing them aside, like bangs? Or is it just not a problem?

3. Origins - Scottish kilt, Irish goat...may I ask which accent he has and which culture he leans more toward? I'm assuming it's the former, considering the culture that has him wear that kilt, but I just wanted to be certain.

EDIT: Then again, you mentioned that he's had ties to Ireland. Is he Scotch-Irish? Goes he speak Gaelic? I'm sorry, I'm not all that knowledgeable in the Celtic cultures, so I wouldn't know if an Irishman (or fae, in this case) would wear a Scottish kilt.

I see you mentioned a slight 'brogue' accent. Upon looking it up, though, I realized it has a specific and a more vague meaning. Wikipedia says this: "The term brogue (/broÊŠÉ¡/brohg) generally refers to an Irish accent. Less commonly it may also refer to certain other regional forms of English, in particular those of Scotland or the English West Country."

Ironically, it also goes on to describe the entomology of the term 'brogue' as referring to the 'perception that the Irish spoke English so peculiarly that it was as if they did so "with a shoe in their mouths"'. And I'm under the notion that it's a stereotypical image to see goats eating shoes...?

4. Mistaken identities - What does he think of Satyrs and Fauns? XD Is he ever confused for them?

5. Not immoral; just amoral - I really enjoy his personality. Definitely fitting of an unseelie fae, amorality and all. I particularly enjoy the bit warning that he 'may not be able to be found if he know's what you're going to ask of him' and if he finds it boring or tedious. Also typical of fae, I think, since that's similar to the impression that the fae trickster Puck gave off (also occasionally associated with goats). Seems to me fae only like to do things if there's something in it for them, though usually it seems that 'something' can be as minor as a bit of fun or a reprieve from boredom. XD

It's very nicely put-together - this creative, original concept of yours involving a goat fae combined with the traditional sense of unseelie and their mischevious/amoral/carefree lifestyle.

6. Why go to school? VERY clever and amusing reason for his attempt at enrollment in this school. What unseelie fae doesn't deserve some time messing around with humans in the human world? Such fools are they that it's as though their creation was for the pure amusement of the Fair Folk! Granting wishes that they later regret because humans don't know what they want; teaching mortals lessons about being careful when dealing with mischievous tricksters and not to be deceived by appearances...I certainly believe Billy should have a chance to try his hand at mortal mingling, especially if his practice on his fellow Amityville inhabitants is any indication.

7. FEAR - Excellent FEAR ability. Just as creative as the rest of him. I'm curious, though...does it just frighten them into thinking that they're about to get hit with a feint (like how one might fling up their arms to brace themselves or flinch when expecting to be hit) or do they actually get tricked into believing there was an actual impact, like with a false headache that they may have psychologically imposed upon themselves, or a temporary sense of pain as if they'd been impacted before they realize they never actually made contact?

8. Weaknesses - Besides things like boredom, does Billy have the same weakness to salt and iron that many fae are said to have? Certainly doesn't seem to have a problem with silver, though I hear that's more of a problem for beings like werewolves and djinn.

9. Sensible Old Goats - I also agree with his family/clan, and ancestors that a goat was a very smart choice. My favorite Greek god, Pan, would certainly approve, considering he always favored goats as clever creatures; particularly in contrast with their...more 'stupid' cousins, as he calls them, the sheep.

It certainly would give them the element of surprise when coming across humans, too, since goats are probably considered an everyday sight in Ireland and it would be difficult to tell a fae goat from a normal one unless they wanted you to.

How fun would it be just to see the look on a human's face if one of their goats just stood up on two legs and started talking? Marvelous choice of disguise. Not to mention there's the whole tie to nature and celtic mythology through hooved beings like deer and goats through deities like Cernunnos and Pan. Perhaps they might even mistaken Billy and/or one of his family to be one of said deities and worship them with offerings (excluding goat or other animal sacrifices, of course). This fae boy deserves much more than mere bedtime stories of his ancestor's glory days.

10. Oops. - Wow, that was a lot more than I intended to say. ^_^; I hope you'll pardon my excessive exuberance. Billy Goat simply embodies a lot of character qualities that I both admire and enjoy interacting with. Best of luck with him!

Kitomyx

Ha thank you, comments and such are still appreciated though.
As for the name, as per shop lore (and demon lore in general) demons can be summoned by their true names unless they are very strong and resist, since fae are classiified under demons here, he obviously wouldn't want his name getting out to people that would summon him for stupid reasons.

His hands may look somethgin similar to that. Think taking a regular goat hoof, now dissect it into five fingers. The bone structure to make the fingers possible would make it look not quite like a regular goat leg, but close enough to trick, and so the fingers will be tipped in the bits of hoof that when held together make it look like a goat hoof. My nature of goat cloven hooved bieng sharp themselves, the hoof material at the tips of his fingers would be sharp as well. I'd like to get a sketch too, and I'll see what can be done, but I don't know how it will turn out.

Hain in eyes, for a goat face and how it falls it generally wouldn't really be an issue. Even human-ified face would start to have less fur depending on how human-like the shop deems him needing to look. In the original concept he'd not be confused with fauns and such because he'd be more goaty overall than them, who are more just the legs and horns, and also usually depicted as less shaggy goat or sheep or deer breeds. again, depending on how human-ified the shop deems him needed to be, he may begin to look more faun/satyr like. It's just important to remember his origins as something similar yes, but in a distinctly different category.

I reference both irish and scottish but Billy is mostly celtic, from the times when celtic was more the uniting factor than irish and scottish in that region. Hence his slight accent is a touch of a mix of both, and not strong regardless because of the ages his family has spent in halloweentown assimilating a plainer accent. He doesn't speak Gaelic, that's too human-world for him to really have an idea of what it is. His family left Ireland due to the human world travel ban long before it got out of the little village in the middle of nowhere and into we have towns and that place over there is a differrent nation bit, when it was still considered as a whole a celtic region. (if that is feasible?)

As far as I can currently think he might have a slight allergy to them or somethign, but consider him to have the same generic weaknesses as most demons (not the toughest physically although he may be a touch better at physical stuff than a winged type fae, more magical oriented, but it's instinctual, summonings, arrogant and proud)

Fear affect will vary along those extremes bepending on how effective battle mechanics dice rolls deems it is, and adding any potential natural resistance the other party has. In general the should at least blink, more effected would flinch ot brace themselves, severely affected my actually think there was an impact and get a sensational illusion of pain, but remeber, it's a projection, not actually affecting them, so while they may be deluded to think they're about to be hit or have been hit, there are no actual affects like pain (unless he took the opportunity to really bop them on the head).
PostPosted: Tue Sep 25, 2012 1:25 pm

Ah, so then it is the 'true name' thing. 'Speak of the devil and he will come'; thus why Puck is referred to as Robin Goodfellow... Yes, I find that motif very common in a lot of stories - not only for demons, but for humans and others as well, like in Spirited Away when Yubaba took away Chihiro's name. And in my favorite book series, the Bartimaeus Trilogy, where the demons are summoned by their true names, but if they know the magician/human's true name who summoned them, then they have a certain amount of power over that human as well. Very thoughtful; I like how you incorporated that.

Mm, I see. I know what you mean about hooves being sharp, but they don't have to be pointed to have a sharp edge, do they? Though I suppose cloven hooves have a bit of a point to them themselves, so it probably doesn't matter either way. I was just curious as to whether they were like pointy claws or more hoof-like, which I take it is the latter. While I realize this looks nothing like him, would the back hooves of this faun be a little closer to what you were thinking of, only more like a hand...? Or perhaps like this, only with the two main 'fingers' being able to split into two more, making five digits? As the note at the bottom of this says, I would imagine it might be something like this, only with 5 fingers.If you want, I can try my hand at drawing his, since I learned how to draw hooved creatures before I ever learned about humanoid beings. Can't say it'll be wonderful, but it would be fun to try. ^_^;

Sorry, I should have clarified; I know he wouldn't be confused with a satyr or faun OOC, but I was referring to less... knowledgeable beings IC. Or, perhaps, maybe someone who just wanted to poke some fun at him. Would he take offence to the association (especially given satyr reputations in Greek myth), or would he not care? Would he even know what satyrs are, given that he's never been to the human world and thus may not be as aware of their human mythology?

Thanks, that origin bit clears things up a lot for me. Sounds perfectly feasible. Doesn't seem like fae would place much importance on human culture/boundaries/divisions of land in the first place, particularly if they've lost touch with the human world for quite some time.

Mmm, I see. Yes, seems like his more natural form of a goat would also make him less...vulnerable than an openly vain, common winged fairy.

Gotcha. Sounds good! Looking forward to seeing Billy around.

The rear legs of that first faun is most similar to what I was thinking. It's literally like the hoof was cut and split rather than seperate hoof bits, which would make them not fit together smoothly like I want them to should he ever go down to all fours and play pretend. Correct in they are no specially pointed or anything, just hoof like. I don't mind at all if you want to give it a try,

I can't say how he'd react to such a confusion of species untill it happens honestly. I think he would not take offence if poked fun at by a friend, but wouldn't like the ugh, more sex-wanting associations. He'd a trickster not a lecher or lust demon. Satyrs are more horse or donkey anyways. I don't see knowledge of species as a problem because both satyrs and fauns are feasible denziens of Halloween-town.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 26, 2012 7:49 am

I got'cha. Haha, 'play pretend'... Well, I'd enjoy that. It would certainly be a challenge, and less typical than my usual drawing subjects.

Mm, that makes sense. As far as satyrs, though...are you sure they're not goat? I thought those were sileni/seilenoi, descendants of Silenus. I could be wrong, though. But like you said, doesn't really matter as they wouldn't be Halloween Town citizens. XD

Oh, I just remembered after seeing Gaia's pooka item the other day...have you looked up these guys at all? Again, not much to do with Halloween or anything, but I just thought you might find them interesting if you hadn't known about them already.

I can answer @ looks!

He'll need a human face and a majority of his appearance.Grier and Gargantuan are ollllllld students, so I wouldn't rely on them too much, esp also give the fact they are monsters.
His face will need to be humanoid shape if not outright human. Eyes are fine @ altered, but if you mean full body fur, that is a no. Markings can happen, but students have skin. Legs- his feet can be cloven hooves /hooves w/e but they'll end in skin below the waist. end where the legs start basically. (So mid calf)

FEAR- just pick what his attack falls under in the fear guide

Thanks Vamps!
I'll head to make some edits regarding appearance in light of this. I think his FEAR would fall under the 'headlights' category, I'll mark it.

A pause. The secretary flipped the page over, and flipped it back again, re-reading the recipient's name (as he managed to only get that far). "Is this supposed to be a joke?"

After another swig of the good Apple Cider, it didn't even matter anyway, and an enrollment stamp of approval was promptly placed on the form. Or two. Or three (and a half).
