robayn] is voting for [Chess] because they have THIS awesome idea for it: [Even though I love chess, I think that Sachie's idea had real merit. I really like the idea of rooms being the different pieces, or having a combination of pieces for hosts that is based on a combination of pieces required for intricate and well known chess moves. I also think it would make cross-overs a LOT more interesting as pieces are captures and defeated wink ]

We could have the rooms based off of famous playwrites (Shakespeare, Arthur Miller, etc.) or based off of genre (a musical room, a comedy room, etc.).]

Sachie Whitby is voting for Chess because they have THIS awesome idea for it: I think that more than any other theme [including other themes I've suggested], Chess has a massive potential for cross-overs and surprises.
One idea for it that I came up with more recently was the idea that one of the threads being represented by a Rook that takes the form of a floating fortress that is essentially a sentient building that can manifest a ghostly humanoid illusion. A great ball and feast is going on with several pieces from the Rook's side coming and going from it.
However mid-way on the second day, a knight from the opposing side enters the thread and captures the Rook. In doing so, the Rook's physical form goes crashing to the earth below, forcing everyone to flee from it and all roleplay in this thread grinds to a complete halt. It would be different, maybe even unexpected and shocking.
After the Rook's defeat, one of the pawns [who was the room's co-host] tries to rally the guests to form an honor guard to protect him as he goes into the other side's territory on a promotion quest. Upon completion, the pawn becomes a Rook and in doing so, the ball and feast [and therefore roleplay] are resumed in the Rook's thread.
