Razien was born into a family at odds with itself. His father chose to live a life that followed that of the Six very closely, yet not entirely, while his mother remained neutral in her allegiance. Having chosen to leave his family and go south with his father while he was still too young to understand the choice he was making, he soon found that decision to be the wrong one. He spent many a month, traveling northward, meeting those, who like his mother, chose no side, while others who chose to serve the King and the Greater Herd. On one such trip, he came across a young capra female, and before he knew what he was doing, he had forced her to mate with him. Feeling disgust at his rash action, he returned to his herd. Over time, his heart became heavy with what he had done, and with what he might be called to do, while serving the Six. Eventually, while on a mission north for the Six, he encountered the King's new chosen, Varian, and was purged of the taint he had been living with all those years. He is now a devout follower of the King, defender of the Greater Herd, and friend to Varian.
Frezien was the result of his father, Razien, basically forcing himself on his mother. She has never spoken to him of his father, and hopes never to have to. The isle is a big place, and the chance of him meeting his father one day is small. Frezien stays close to his mother and her Chosen Rhia, and travels with them around the northern lands. He has seen human settlements, and wonders at their desire to live within walls, instead of out under the sun and moon. He has not seen his brothers since they chose to leave upon reaching adulthood, but he holds out hope that one day they will return for a visit. Not long ago, the human Zander appeared; Rhia's mate, and he did not arrive alone. With him was a male capra named Goral, and this new male and his mother seem to have decided to take each other as life-mates. This has him thinking that perhaps it is time for him to set out on his own, and make a life for himself.
Goral hails from the Eniras Mountains, in the far south of the Isle. His people are the Capra, and they roam the rocky slopes of mountain range, quietly surviving amid the harsh landscape, and those who serve the evil Six. Occasionally though, once every few years, a few will venture forth from their mountain home, to travel north, to serve the King and possibly bond with a human. Goral has lived a goodly portion of his life among the members of his herd, never finding that one perfect mate, nor the ultimate peace he so much seeks after. So now he has decided to venture out beyond the safety of the herd, and look for that which he has not found at home. In time, he will come to find both that perfect mate, as well as the peace he has sought after for so many years.
Breed: Life-Mated to:Druid Bonded to: Uncert Backstory:
He might not be the fastest horse in the kingdom, or the strongest, but Nightshade knows things. Many more things than most Azrein his age. With his dear friend Starla, the two of them travel around the kingdom, experiencing new delights, meeting new friends, avoiding trouble whenever possible, and simply enjoying life.
He doesn't remember his parents, and as far as he knows, he never had siblings, so he was only ever responsible for himself. That is, until Starla the fairy came into his life. He'd been deep in the forest, following the trail of a very elusive tazfae. It had led him a merry chase into the deepest, darkest part of the forest, and then simply disappeared. Nightshade was unable to pick up its trail after searching for two days. He was tracing his trail back out when the blue fairy creature flitted down from a tree, blocking his path. Nightshade had never seen one of the fabled caeltae before, and he was mesmerized by her. Her skin color so closely matched his own wings that he almost thought she was somehow reflecting his own color, but as she flew around him, he realized that was incorrect. She slowly lowered herself between his wings, gently landing and tickling his back. As he turned his head to look back at her, she walked up his back, and reached out her tiny hand to touch his face. Her touch was like that of a soft wind, and he leaned into her hand. It was what happened next that surprised him.
Starla liked the looks of this Azrein, so she decided to introduce herself; something that many of her race would never think of doing. As he leaned into her hand she said, “Hello horse. I am Starla. What brings you into our home?”
Nightshade blinked once or twice as her voice, which sounded like small bells, was suddenly heard in his head. Replying he said, “Greetings Starla. I am called Nightshade, and I entered your home in search of one of the tazfae. However, he has eluded me, so I was going to leave.”
“Oh! Please do not leave yet! We have only just met. If you leave, how shall we get to know one another better?” said the little fairy. Starla had seen many of the Azrein race enter the forest, but none of them had attracted her the way Nightshade did. Perhaps it was his color, or more likely the fact that he was the first one she had seen that had wings like herself. “Can you fly with your wings,” she asked suddenly.
He almost laughed, but didn't want to startle her, so he said, “Why yes Starla, I can fly, just like you. And I will be happy to stay a while yet, so we can spend time getting to know one another. Would you mind if I lie down?” He figured if he was going to be here a while, he might as well be comfortable.
He spent the next three days and nights there in the forest, talking about all manner of things with Starla. It was when he informed her that he intended to leave the next morning that she announced her wish to go with him. Needless to say, he was quite surprised by this, but he could find no genuine reason not to allow her to accompany him. And they had been together ever since.
Tatsu's nature is just that, nature, at its rawest. He loves his parents, and his brothers, but he is his own boy, and he's not about to be molded into something he's not. He knows his father is not the kindest of stallions, and his mother is not the most loving of mother's, but he's not prepared to chose one over the other. He might chose to go live with his father for a while, but only to learn what he can from him. Or he might chose to stay with his mother, at least until he is old enough and strong enough to venture out into the world on his own. He pays close attention to everything that goes on between his parents, and stores away the things he believes might come in handy in the future, but for the most part, he tries to stay out of their way. He spends time with his brothers, but usually that time is spent getting them into trouble.
Tatsu is very clever and creative when it comes to thinking up situations that will cause chaos, yet look innocent at first glance. This is why he's so adept at getting his siblings in trouble with their parents, and yet come out of it unscathed himself. He's come to the realization that his parents are not a perfect match, and as such will probably not stay together long. He's seen the ones his mother has been hanging around with, and they frighten him. His father on the other hand does not seem to want anything to do with the Six, so at least Tatsu would not have to fear being dragged into their silly war with these creatures called humans. He's never seen one, but he would like to some day. Why any creature would cause such volatile hatred among his kind he cannot understand. To hear some speak, one would think they were as tall as the tallest tree, and breathed fire. Tatsu tended to doubt this, but it would be interesting to find out for himself.
He has a mind that never seems to stop working. Even when he tries to sleep, it's as if his mind goes into high speed, and thoughts he never had during the day are suddenly popping into his mind. Everything fascinates him at this point, and he can spend hours just staring at something to see how it moves, or what it does; insects especially. These small creatures give him endless hours of entertainment. Perhaps one day, when he has grown into his fullness, he will go in search of one of these humans, and see what all of the fuss is about. But for now, he is content to stay with his family, and bide his time.
