Welcome to Tiepet and Filanth's little corner of the Weyr
Please ignore the smell, seeing as it's probably the only thing you'll ever remember the girl for. . . well, that and her blunt dragon.

back history : When animals came to the Weyr and the riders were in need of people to step up and manage their herds, Teipet's family moved in. Eager to help create a wonderful stock of herd beasts and wherries for the dragons to eat from, the family's back line knowledge of animals through the generations served them well and allowed them to produce a decent stock of beasts. While they weren't top of the line or the best around they certainly made the grade and flourished at Malvren.
Tiepet was born to average fanfare, her parents fairly glad to have another hand about to help with the herds. Her family may not have been the only ones caring for the prey animals but they certainly weren't about to turn away any additional services. Raised quickly and quietly in the ways of herding animals the young girl's first education consisted of very little time around other children and a good deal of time around smelly animals. For a while her communication skills were limited to the point her parents thought her mute ( or deaf, the shame! ) but it turned out she didn't have much to say, instead being content to listen to others and keep an eye out on the animals she was meant to be watching. Her parents, much relieved, stopped pestering her about talking and left her to her own agenda this leaving her to socialize with the animals more than children her own age. This caused her to further develop slowly in communication and social skills to the point where she could be considered stunted but not incapable.
In an effort to promote more interactions with members of the Weyr that weren't directly related to her or her craft, Tiepet was posed to stand as a Candidate. While her parents could not force her into standing, it ultimately being her choice, the thirteen-turn old girl realized she'd have to grow up eventually and would need to have some contacts other than ovines and wherries. She accepted the offer and moved out of her family home and into the Candidate barracks shortly after her thirteenth turn day of naming, and she has stayed in them since. While still awkward towards others she at least doesn't try to leave the barracks and go home every night, now sleeping in one spot.

name : Tiepet, though often called Tie age : Fifteen turns
rank : Jr. Weyrling
gender : Female sexuality : Heterosexual
hair color : Blond eye color : Dark blue
height : ~5' 0" build : Toned yet lithe; whippish
details, details :
clothing : Usually attired in clothing that can easily be shed should it become soiled or torn, Tiepet is quite fond of outfits that do not have sleeves. Preferring to wear clothing that is loose but not loose enough to interfere with her work, she picks tunics over blouses for practicality's sake and breeches over skirts. Her breeches are usually modified to be loose on her legs and go no further than her knees, allowing fresh air on her legs and about her ankles. She seldom wears shoes if she can get away with it, the bottoms of her feet rough and calloused from years of running around barefoot as a brat, though if she is required to have footwear she sticks to riding boots or any form of shoe that is lightweight and can stand up to abuse.
likes : Filanth, Herdbeasts (Pippin alot), Skybox & Caine dislikes : People (she doesn't know)
details, details : A girl of very few words, it's sometimes hard to tell what Teipet is thinking. . . if she's thinking of anything at all. Thankfully, for those who don't know her well enough to understand that she's merely listening contentedly, she has a very 'vocal' face, her expressions revealing more about her than any simple phrases ever could. It is almost impossible for her to lie about what she's feeling unless she's focused very hard on deceiving whomever is before her, but thanks to a foolish and honest nature people need not worry about her trying to tell them something that isn't true. It'd take a good while for her to even think of a lie worth telling.
Following along with being of few words Tiepet can easily be mistaken as someone who is quite aloof or overly arrogant to anyone unprepared. In reality she is more or less extremely socially awkward towards most people that aren't her family or fellow herders, a majority of her life spent growing up amongst relatives and the other herding families. While initially she may be rather uneasy starting conversations with strangers she does not go out of her way to avoid them (now that she's older anyway) and she can and will speak to anyone who approaches her. More often then not she acts rather antsy, like she has a different place to be instead of there, and her nervous fidgeting can be translated to a need to get away. Most of the time conversations leave her flustered and feeling mildly disappointed with herself for being unable to properly communicate though recently she has begun to show signs of stepping up and interacting more. When topics turn towards herdbeasts or animals in general her whole demenior changes and her partner will quickly find themselves with a willing and charming conversationalist. It should be noted that when asked about animals in a more professional tone, or when on an errand to deliver a message in regards to said animals, her nervousness disappears. She believes that in order to be taken seriously as a crafter and as a herder she must be understood when she is trying to deliver information, though how she acts during her personal life is quite a bit different.
Occasionally seeming quite carefree and easily swayed to different whims without a focus, Teipet actually is a girl with strong determination and dedication. Often keeping it silent as to not broadcast to others what she wishes to get done or achieve, she works hard enough to get it done quickly and precise enough to get it done correctly. The type to depend less on others than a person would like to believe, Tiepet is often under the assumption that if she wants something done fast and efficiently it'd be better to do it on her own then ask for help. This has backfired on her in more then one instance and while she shows promise that she's trying to learn it's unlikely she'll change any time soon. Still, there's something good to be said about a person with a healthy work ethic and a desire to get things done so they can move along to something else.
One of Teipet's more dire bad habits is her inability (or unwillingness) to look before she leaps into a situation. A girl who would jump both feet first into a river to test the depths of the waters, her over eagerness to butt into certain cases can leave her with a bad taste in her mouth as well as a temporary bruised ego ( or bum, depending on the outcome ). While she certainly doesn't feel like she has to always be right and is more than willing to admit that she was wrong when everything is all over, she can show a streak of stubbornness in insisting that while her way or idea may not have been the right one, it was a pretty good choice.

Mine! Were you hiding? Your Filanth was looking for you! Yours is hungry!
name : Filanth nickname : Filly
age : Hatchling / Sr. Weyrling color : Green
details, details : A lovely pale shade of Green, Filanth's hide is decorated with darker green freckles about her face, shoulders, and the tips of her wings. The crest on the back of her head as well as on her tail is a darker green as well, along with several of her back toes.
Her eyes are usually a merry shade of blue or green, as she is content and very hard to get riled up. Seldom is she seen with any other hue unless something is amiss with her rider.
likes : Tiepet, Skybox & Caine, flitters, dolphins dislikes : ??
details, details : Filanth is a small, quiet and oblivious green. She’s not deliberately cruel but she possesses a strong sense of honesty that sometimes results in her hurting rather than helping. If someone asks her opinion, she will unfailing answer as honestly as she can. Do you look fat in that dress? Yes, you do, but the color goes nicely with your skin. Is so-and-so doing their chores? No, they’re off chatting. Her honesty is a double edged sword and can quite easily be interpreted as her being insensitive, and even cruel because not only is she honest, she’s incredibly blunt about being honest. If you’re being stupid, or your plan is full of holes, she’ll tell you.
One might think she’s loud in her opinions then, but the truth is she is not. She’s soft-spoken, even for a dragon, and it takes quite a bit to rile her up enough that she shouts or growls or otherwise acts aggressive. She’s quite level headed, truth be told, and enjoys the simple pleasures in life – friends, family, and quiet evenings. Oh, and flits and dolphins.
She quite enjoys the company of firelizards and is usually among the first dragons to go down to the seaside to play with the dolphins. In fact, she loves playing with the happy, honest and playful creatures, often to the point of distraction. Filanth is a hard worker and she does her best, but her skills are average at best and while she’ll never be something astounding, this green will be a much appreciated friend of the flits, dolphins, and those who enjoy true honesty.
why tiepet? : Tiepet doesn't lie, she's quiet and good natured... she's dreamy, whimsical and carefree. It's everything Filanth could ever want in Hers. Filanth is a gentle soul and Tiepet's equally gentle spirit compliments hers in every way.
Even with an inability to say no, Filanth believes she can straighten out Tiepet. The green may be honest but she's not a pushover - what's right and true and what's wrong and bad are two separate things she has no trouble differentiating between. With Filanth around Tiepet won't have to worry about ever being pushed around again, she'll have a quiet voice of reason to back her up all the way.
Filanth also knows Tiepet's dedication and work ethic will help temper her own dreamy nature but she also hopes Hers will remember what it's like to have fun and simply relax every now and then. If you're going to work hard, play hard too!
They're a gentle pair, sweet and dependable. Filanth might never be brash and big like some of the others but she doesn't need that - all she needs is Tiepet and the world is right.

name : Skybox color : Green
main use : Assistance ( to Tiepet ) known commands : Skybox does not appear to understand verbal commands as Tiepet has trained her through various whistles.
She knows and can perform the following actions:
- Strike! (one long whistle) attack whatever is approaching the herd - Round 'em up! (long whistle with two dips at the end) gather the herdbeasts together - Come 'ere! (two short whistles) return to Tiepet's side
personality : Probably the best friend in the whole world that Tie could ask for, Skybox is anything and everything the Herder could want. Obedient and bright, friendly yet not overbearing, the company of this green flitt has become something that the girl treasures on a day to day basis. A valuble partner while out tending the herds in the field, the girl and her flitt have become quite a team that can prevent any flock animals from become stray or being attacked by various creatures.
Not exactly amorous though still a slave to genetic design, Skybox rises fairly often for Flight. Tie has yet to find a single clutch that this green has laid, though she probably wouldn't know what to do with them even if she was able to locate something.
The pair have only one real problem that they must face and that is Skybox's love of shiny objects. Unable to resist anything that catches her fancy the little green has garnered something of a reputation as a thief, though the objects she takes are quickly returned to their proper owners by Tie (if she can figure out what goes where or belongs to whom).
obtained via : A very precious gift for her decision to enter Candidacy, Tiepet's parents gave the girl the egg to help her ease more into dealing with humans. Tiepet will probably never know the lengths her parents had to go through to get the egg, but none the less she's very grateful for it.

name : Caine color : Black
main use : Companionship ( to Tiepet, occasionally Skybox ) known commands : Caine does not appear to understand verbal commands as Tiepet has trained him through various whistles.
He knows and can perform the following actions:
- Come 'ere! (two short whistles) return to Tiepet's side - Break it off! (a whoop) stop now
personality : Still a bit of a baby, Caine has a little bit of a temper mixed in with his childish curiosity. He loves to explore and discover new things (when feeling well enough) to a degree of almost obsession, though he rarely ventures far enough away from Tie to actually find anything. When he does get enough distance between himself and his person he usually comes scampering back at double speed, hissing and unhappy about being allowed to wander freely.
A bit of a biter and a screamer when he can't get his way, Tie's fingers often bear the marks of his mini-tantrums over food or company. Skybox thankfully escapes most of his wrath by blinking out somewhere and returning when his stomach is full, but until then the little black seems content to vent on the hand that literally feeds him.
The only time he appears to be extremely happy and peaceful is right after eating or when settling down from the night, his favorite spot to sleep being on Tie's chest or right beneath her chin. He appears to love the sound of her breathing and heartbeat as a rhythm base, as these two sounds can be used to calm him during the day as well should his attitude get the better of him.
obtained via : The Candidate Master awarded three eggs to candidates as something of a prize for getting specific tasks done. Tie easily plowed through her first two tasks but soon found herself lost and nearly dying in the third, though somehow she still managed to be the first one done. A pretty purple egg was her reward - and a black flitter her prize!

The Egg Purple Spotted Egg - This egg, for all its brightness and busy patterning is quiet. It lays on its side as if distracted, pointing off to where activity always seems to accumulate. Perhaps it is curious? Its size indicates a green or a blue, perhaps a small brown. The Touching It was the Purple Spotted Egg, it's lovely coloring having drawn her in at first glance, and Tie exhaled as her hands ran over its surface. She could get a feeling of peace from this egg, a quiet peace mixed with some small hints of desire, but it was rather hard for her to place and understand. She could feel and acknowledge its silence though, so with a nod she moved over to the egg directly to its left. The Hatching The two blues stood at odds, the brighter one growling and hissing at the other as he tried to force his way past but the sibling would have none of it. They seemed on the edge of a fight as the grey speckled egg’s inhabitant tried to force the ambitious blue off. This was his turf! Meanwhile, the Purple Spotted egg cracked and the pale green rolled out of her shell with a quiet chirp. Shaking her head to free it of the egg goo, she flapped her wings and turned at the sound of the two posturing males on the other side of the clutch. She arched her head high and crooned first at the boys then girls as she made her way over. Was Hers among them? The Hatching, cont. After Lalaith’s swift choice, Filanth murmured to herself, crooning at the other green as the pair walked off towards the waiting tables. Ooh she’d like those tables…. But Hers. Right. Hers. Where was Hers? Crooning again, the pale green finally thought she saw the proper Candidate – she’d wandered through the boys and meandered to the girls where a certain someone caught her eye. Mine! Were you hiding? Your Filanth was looking for you! Yours is hungry! She ruffled her wings and sneezed, tilting her head towards the feeding tables as she looked up at Tiepet.
