Origin and Meaning: Basque; derived from zuri, "white".
Gender: Female
Height: Typically floats at about five feet, low to the ground.
Birth Date: 15 February 2010
Current Stage: Frei
Alignment: Neutral Good - I will guard my family, no matter what
Likes: Cool weather; shiny things; small furry things; cold-water aquariums; bright fish; hugs; attention
Dislikes: Heat in general; overly-bright sunshine; feeling awkward; being lonely
Personality: Occasionally chill with strangers and people she doesn't know, Zuri is a surprisingly passionate, tender person with a strong desire for home and family and safety. She is prone to fits of sadness from time to time, but remains largely upbeat as long as she's surrounded by the people she loves. Alone, she finds herself overthinking and comparing herself to people, a little bit insecure. She is, above all else, stubborn and protective, bordering on possessive. She wants to fit in and be loved, despite her body's strangeness, and her biggest critic is herself.

Abilities:
- Keen Eyesight: Due to her owl soul, Zurine's eyesight is extremely keen.
Powers:
- Ice Manipulate: [Active] When well-fed, Zurine can use the ambient moisture in the air to create delicate, fanciful shapes. Currently, this power is strongly limited, although it is easier in winter than summer, and easier in humid conditions than dry ones.
- Frost Thorns: [Active] When threatened, Zurine's body immediately generates sharp, frozen spikes, by way of armor. Though hard, they are brittle and semi-hollow, and will break like any icicle if the wrong pressure is exerted on them. Similar to other ice-related powers, this is easier in winter.
- Root Web: [Active] Thanks to the 'rose' part of her essence, Zurine is able to tap into the tangled systems of underground plant-roots, if her ribbon is touching the earth below. As a low level, she can simply feel vibrations below, but when really focusing, she can use it to find familiar items or motions. Similar to other powers, this is easier in winter.
- Cold Aura: [Passive] Without intending to, if she is healthy, Zurine puts out an aura of chilliness around her in an attempt to keep herself comfortable.
Food Source: Cold, as converted from frozen water or frozen substances. (For example, if Zurine were to 'eat' an ice cube, warmish water vapor would result, to be exhaled like 'cool' steam.) It equates to a release of heat or negative energy; eating for Zurine is much like a plant's respiration. She releases the heat energy in her body this way.
Statistics Breakdown:
1Magic: 32 - Zurine's highest stat, this indicates she is strongly magically inclined.
1Intelligence: 28 - Zurine is very clever, and soaks up knowledge and experience like a sponge.
1Endurance: 26 - Zurine can last significantly longer than one might expect from her frail frame. She draws mostly on stubbornness.
1Friendliness: 24 - In general, she is relatively accepting of others as friends, as long as they don't invade her personal space.
1Humour: 22 - A fair bit of what others consider humorous tends to go over Zurine's head. She does try, though.
1Creativity: 20 - Often decidedly blunt and down-to-earth, Zurine is not one prone to flights of fancy or artistic flutterings.

Glimmering in white, blue and purple sheen, the Ice Rose stood in radiant splendour. However, do not misunderstood, this isn't any rose carved out from ice. It's actually a real living rose growing out from ice!! Oh~ the mysteries of these fel essence! How can anything, much less a plant grow on a piece of ice? And the most amazing thing is that the rose doesn't wither and die, Kyou's theory is that the icey nature is what's keeping this rose immortal.
Snowy Owl
Though highly recognizable, these ground-nesting owls are particularly nomadic in nature and prefer cool, circumpolar climates. They are highly territorial and when nesting, will protect their families in pairs using any means necessary, including dive-bombing and distraction displays to draw off predators. Most of their hunting is done in a 'sit-and-wait' style, as prey (including small fur-bearers, fish, and other birds) may be captured on the ground, in the air, or off the water's surface.
Fun fact: For some Native Americans, snowy owls represent the North and the North Wind, and warriors that excelled in combat were allowed to wear a cap of owl's feathers.

Gender: Male
Birth Date: December 10, 1975; age 39
Likes: Piping hot black coffee; cinnamon-flavored candy; chocolate, the darker the better; hot fudge and caramel sundaes; sharp bright blades and pretty leather things; long hot showers; cold, stormy nights; winter and fall; jazz music; film noir; penny-dreadful mystery novels; deep fluffy featherbeds.
Dislikes: Hot summer days; guns of any type; pastel clothing; sour anything; long conversations; sleeping in the dark; early mornings; any medication (including headache medicine); doctor visits; unexpected skin-to-skin contact.
Personality: Rather serious, Phiel can seem inflexible. He has trouble having 'fun' in a traditional sense. He works hard and when he takes time off, it usually consists of eating sweets, doing errands and chores, though he enjoys sleeping in until midmorning.
Despite that, he tends to be very athletic, to think on his feet. This can give rise to a temper that sometimes gets him into scrapes. He is on occasion a touch prideful and distant, but it rarely gets in the way unless someone's degrading him.
Events in his past have left him somewhat mistrustful; he refuses to allow a stranger to touch his skin, resulting in compulsive wearing of long sleeves and leather gloves to avoid contact. If this issue is pushed, he is likely to become stiff, formal and dismissive toward the perpetrator.
He deeply enjoys mysteries: the only real fun he has is watching old film noir movies and detective shows and attempting to puzzle out the twist in the end, sometimes getting rather animated. If Phiel is reading, it is probably an old-fashioned mystery novel or a mystery-thriller. He enjoys critical thinking and yet only gets the surprise about half of the time. Ideally, he would enjoy a detective's job, though he lacks the necessary education.
Secretly, Phiel is quite skilled with his hands and enjoys sewing small likenesses of people and animals he is fond of. He would prefer that wasn't widely known -- he feels it detracts from his 'professional image'.
History: Coming from a decidedly rough childhood in a place that wasn't all that child-friendly, Phiel grew up relatively rough-and-tumble -- learning to keep on his toes and keep his back covered, trusting very few people -- though those he did were trusted with his very life.
A betrayal by those people landed Phiel in serious hot water, and that breach of personal ethics sent him looking for a way out of his neighborhood and prior life. No longer emotionally tied to anyone there and needing a means of control, he began using clothing as a sheltering mechanism. At age eighteen, when he was legally and financially able, Phiel left home with his life savings, a backpack full of things, and a check for downpayment on a small apartment.
Lacking any education beyond high school, he has struggled hard to get where he is now. He spent ten years working construction, doing clerical temporary jobs and even a short stint as a club bouncer before settling for awhile into professional chauffeuring. From there, due to his nature and talents, he was hired by on-again-off-again enterprising ex-client Adrian St. Clair into a body-guarding business, where Phiel has been working for the past five years.
In the present, he is paying bills on his house near the sea, has a job that is highly physical but pays well, and a routine that fills his days, though he lacks a broad social network.

Blue: Phiel's blue veiltail betta fish, kept housed in a planted, heated ten-gallon tank. Phiel's favorite pet. Zurine is not very fond of him, because the warmth of the water makes her uncomfortable.
Blue is fond of Kinsey's Varun.

On the first floor: The house is up on pilings, and there is space to park two vehicles underneath it; generally, only Phiel's car is there. There is an enclosed, locked shed below that contains various tools and gardening implements. Something like a 'garden' surrounds the house on three sides, mostly scrubby due to the sandy soil. A staircase ascends below the house, and another one on the sea-facing side climbs up to the back porch. On the left side of the house is a separate balcony.
On the second floor: The house has two bedrooms, nestled next to each other on the left side; Zurine's window faces the street, Phiel's faces the sea. The middle of the house is taken up with the kitchen, dining room, and the living room; the front door opens into the right side of the living room, and the seaward-facing side of the living room opens onto the porch via French doors. The right side of the house is taken up with one large bathroom, surprisingly luxurious.
