Who: Claire (alpha lyrae) and Zurine (Petite Kitsune) Where: A small park near the shoreline businesses in Gambino When: The tail end of November, just past Thanksgiving, late afternoon Weather: Bitingly cold, with a sharp wind - it feels like snow is on the horizon
------------------------------
The cold made Claire move at the pace of molasses. Her breath came in small puffs as she walked along the sidewalk, boots clacking against the cement. Luckily the walk was not icy, but if her nose was correct, it seemed like snow was in the air (a rarity for Gambino, but one that occurred from time to time nonetheless). The sky was darkening above her head and swirling with clouds as evening pressed on, and she stopped to gaze skyward momentarily. The tug on the leash in her hands, however, reminded her that she did have a task today. Her mother's borzoi Misha yelped impatiently and pulled her on, and she smiled, rolling her eyes as she resumed their walk. Her mother had called her and asked if she could take Misha for a walk; the cold was terrible on her arthritis and she was flat-out exhausted from all the work she had put in for yesterday's festivities.
"Lucky you, being built for the cold," Claire commented to the long-haired dog, laughing. The dog trotted ahead happily and pulled her towards the park, eager for his favorite stomping ground. "Want the park, boy? Alright, alright - I didn't bring your frisbee though." She redirected herself towards the park entrance and hoped that Misha would wear out soon - the cold was seeping through her jeans at record pace. A coffee was in the cards on their return trip.

With the chill and the darkness in the sky, Zurine was feeling quite strong -- her light sweater was swirling around her as she wandered about. There was something nice about late November, everything brilliant-edged with the promise of ice and frost. This was her element, her time of the year, and she found that after the year she had had, it was wonderful to feel surrounded by a world that wasn't outright hostile to her. She had been to this park a hundred times, but it was still a wonderful place to her, and she floated in front of the fountain, watching the icy water crash down onto the stones, the wind bringing spray with it, half expecting the park to be empty in this weather. Still, when she heard someone coming, she turned to face the park entrance, smiling a little as she swept her hair from her face.

Claire's eyes were drawn to the Raevan immediately, and she was arrested by the beauty of her. Most of the Raevans she had seen up until this point looked relatively human in apppearance and skin tone, minus some animal-like aspects, but this one had such an ethereal beauty about her that Claire could do little more than stare admiringly. The chill numbed her cheeks, which reddened more when she realized how much she was staring, and she nodded at the Raevan, who had smiled upon turning towards the entrance. Misha, however, was not about to let his master's daughter stand there still as a statue, and yelped excitedly at her, tugging Claire forward.
"Mish -- hey!" she called out in surprise, but forward went the dog, tail whirling like a miniature propellar in his excitement. Claire jogged behind him as he led the way towards the fountain and he tilted his head at the Raevan with another happy yelp, waiting for acknowledgement. "I'm sorry.. he loves strangers!" Claire apologized, loosening the leash and transferring it to her other hand and rubbing the tension marks from her palm. "He's very friendly, I assure you."
