Who: Zurine, Ethiriel, guardians Where: Spring art festival When: Midday; 2PM on a Saturday Weather: Mid-70s, sunny with a healthy breeze.
--
Though winter had been long, and it was Zurine's favorite season, she was actually looking forward to spring, a little. So few of her friends preferred her season that she was mostly looking forward to everyone else being able to come back out with her.
But it wasn't just Zuri's people that were coming back out, it was the rest of the world, too! The spring's warmth had brought with it fair weather this year and with that came the outdoor festivals that Zurine liked so much. The art festival was the first one of the year, and since she had been busy all winter painting, she had quite a few paintings to put up. It was lucky that it was a day right between warm and cool, because Phiel had set up the booth for her, but he'd told her that he had a client to look after here. He had left her with a cell phone to call him if she needed him, but she had become very independent, and scoffed softly. However, the phone was tucked in the pocket of her jacket, because she knew Phiel wouldn't let her be otherwise.
She had spent several hours before coming picking out the best of her paintings, and now she was putting them up, the canvases propped against the walls of the booth. Once everything was put up, Zurine took a little stroll out onto the board walkway, enjoying the breeze and the bright-colored flag-streamers and the delicious smell of pie and funnel cake. Maybe when Phiel came back he'd take her to get a frozen lemonade... her stomach growled with excitement at the very idea.

To be honest, both Leo and Eth were grateful that winter had come to an end; Spring meant more work, more activities and, most importantly for the Frei, fair weather with far less harsh temperatures. Leo had done a decent job on regulating the temperature within their apartment, but during winter the poor silver Raeven had to remain inside as much as possible, lest her essence freeze her soul.
The photographer – and by extension, his companion – had been invited to the Spring Art Festival both from his work and for the chance to get out and meet other artists, both similar and different from his own works. Normally he would have preferred to stay home or go out and work, but with some convincing from his current employers and the promise of fair weather for Ethiriel he agreed. Crowds weren’t much of his thing despite his line of work, but with his Frei hooked carefully in his arm Leo couldn’t help but beam with pride when someone would stop the pair to compliment or talk to her.
Ethiriel was pleased as well, eager to speak with whoever would give her the chance. It wasn’t often that she was fawned over, and it while it certainly wasn’t something she would want to deal with on a regular basis she appreciated the attention.

When she finally floated back, surveying her booth with more than a little bit of smug pride, she crossed her slender arms over her chest. Zuri's smile was small but her wings were fluttering and flared wide, pleased with herself. She sold one painting, then two, and staved off three bewildered questions about why she was floating, before she caught sight of Ethiriel. Her pupils narrowed with interest, and she gently patted the curious questioning little boy, twitching her ribbon out of his hands as she floated past him to go investigate. Someone she hadn't met! Her eyes were keen and she looked at the unfamiliar figure.
"Excuse me," Zuri called, her voice low and quiet. "Pardon!" She tried to catch up with them, a bit behind.

They had managed a good stream of time where neither were bothered, free to peruse the offered works from other artists and acquaintances of Leo's from various jobs. Some booths had offered trinkets made of tarnished metals, eagerly bought by the two - any chance the photographer had to obtain food for Ethiriel, regardless of the price, he quickly indulged for her sake without a second thought. He worried that soon they would need to find more antique stores or else they'd have to start tarnishing their own silver which was a slow and arduous process, especially when they needed to feed her immediately.
The wintery Frei's pleas were unnoticed by Leo at first, her voice covered up by the bustle of the vendors and bystanders, but with a cold sting in Ethiriel's nostril she gently pulled at her guardian's sleeve. She had heard the calling, much like she heard most everything around them, but her first assumption hadn't been that the attention was meant for them. With Ethiriel still linked in his arm he turned, his fingers itching for his camera when he caught sight of their pursuer. He had met a handful of Raevens at this point but this one... well, in the bright light and busy fair she stuck out like a sore thumb; nearly pure white and feathery, absolutely stunning and naturally illuminated. She even managed to stick out just enough for Ethiriel's eyes to rest on her form, vague as it was, and the tea Frei's hand met the top of Leo's arm.
"I gotta say... never been approached by a lone Raeven before," he mused, clearly in awe as the girl approached.

Zuri's curious dark gaze drifted over guardian and frei alike, her lips pursing curiously, and then she smiled. Ethiriel was lovely, all shining cool cleanness, and Zuri's senses read something refreshing and sweet about her, like the taste of her favorite ice cubes, the ones with mint that she could get from Vivi's bakery. She liked that, very much, and she approached fearlessly.
"Hello," she greeted once she was close enough to do so, dipping an elegant little bow in midair. It was mostly an inclination of head, her hair sliding around her shoulders. "I am sorry if I've interrupted, but I saw a raevan I hadn't yet met and I thought it would be interesting to..." Her smile was sweet, but a little reserved. Phiel would have been proud of her.

The closer the owl Frei came the more her scent registered, the cold bite of winter mixed with some sort of feathered creature, an odd combination when it came to biological differences but Raevens were exempt -- Ethiriel, herself, was strange in the sense that her soul was so sensitive but her essence was highly conductive, making things fairly difficult when the more harsh of seasons approached.
"Greetings..." Ethiriel said, dipping her own head in response despite her arm still being connected with Leo's. "You have... not interrupted, and it flatters me that... you would be so interested as to make acquaintance."
Leo smiled, still itching for his camera but for the most part held back, especially with introductions being made so it would have been rather rude. "This is Ethiriel, and I'm Leo. It's a pleasure to meet you, miss," he said rather plainly, his voice dull but for the moment he had a pleasant albeit subdued smile.

Phiel would not have been so pleased, however, as Zuri reached impulsively for Eth's free hand gently, closing her cool fingers around Eth's as she bowed to gently press a soft, chill kiss to her knuckles, her hair sliding softly down around her face. "I am glad to make your acquaintance," she said sweetly. "My name is Zurine, but you can call me Zuri if you like." Her dark gaze turned up to Eth. She had gotten that particular move from a film Phiel had left on one night, and the prince had done that exactly to a princess. She still remembered that particular aspiration.

When Ethiriel's hand was reached for, Leo loosened his grip on her arm and watched, once again rather surprised by how forward this Raeven was. A smile formed on his lips and one brow rose, somewhat amused by the turn of events.
A light shiver ran through the tea Frei's body, starting from her fingertips where Zurine's had daintily clutched and her knuckles where her lips softly landed, running up her arm and through her core. Ethiriel hadn't been expecting such a chill, even despite the owl Frei's scent carrying such cold tones. Had it been warmer it may have been a bit more appreciated, but the lady wasn't one to turn down manners -- her free hand met Zurine's, both blindly snaking up until they found her shoulder, cupping her neck by both sides and reaching in. As per usual, she offered a gentle kiss just near her lips on both sides before pulling away, though her hands rested carefully on the girl's shoulders rather than releasing. "A pleasure indeed, Lady Zurine," she confirmed, glad to have something for her eyes to rest on, even if she couldn't make out details, just a vague figure.

A soft blush colored Zuri's cheeks, and she laughed shyly, having not expected that response at all. The princess in the movie had blushed and tittered and fluttered her hand at the prince coyly. She liked it, though, and Zuri couldn't help smiling. It was good to know that particular tactic worked, even though Eth had shivered. Zuri's chill always seemed to get in the way, an endless frustration.
"My pleasure entirely... Are you two here selling art?" she asked softly, curious.

Had her essence not been so conductive or if her soul wasn't so sensitive it certainly would not have been as much of an issue, but sadly Ethiriel's unfortunate combination served against her and she wasn't built for extreme temperatures - one way or another. The thought and manners were appreciated regardless and despite the discomfort in her hands, she kept them in place so long as the owl Frei allowed.
"No, I got invited to meet artists as well as work," Leo said, sounding just as bored with the prospect as he looked. The pay wasn't fantastic for this particular job but his employers promised better work once the festival was over, putting him in a position where it wouldn't have been the best idea to decline. "Do you make your own stuff?" he asked, raising a brow - his way of expressing he was at least impressed with the idea, regardless of what she may do.

She smiled up at them, listening to the question with her head tilted daintily. That job sounded fun to her -- had she not been tied to her own booth, she'd have been exploring and asking everyone about their particular medium of choice. "I do," Zuri said delightedly, smiling. "I like to watercolor paint... People and landscapes." She didn't seem to mind being touched. In fact, Zuri was a cuddly creature, and she liked Eth's hands on her shoulders. She kept looking back to Eth, happy to be touched. It felt nice not to have someone pull away.

Ethiriel would have pulled closer, closed the distance to try and get a better look at the snowy Raeven but she was so oddly cold in her grip -- it radiated up her arms slowly but rather than be rude she took it. The feeling of her skin, the actual sensation itself, was rather nice and she was able to distract herself with that for the time being. Luckily the temperature rose no further than her elbows.
"I see. Well, I'd definitely like to see," Leo announced, tugging the camera at his side from its pouch and held it carefully in his arms. He was here for work but they had asked him to check out the booths and this certainly catered to both his and his employer's wants -- he got to interact with another Raeven as well as do his job and get things done. He actually had to silently thank the group; had they not requested he go the two of them wouldn't have met Zurine and that in of itself was exciting.

Zurine wished she could have lingered close to Ethiriel -- it was a novelty that very few other raevans granted, and she smiled after a moment, then looked over at Leo. "Okay, then," Zuri hummed, pulling back and taking hold of Eth's hand again gently, to lead. "My booth's over here... come with me?"

The feeling of Zurine’s hand sliding down Ethiriel’s arm, the chill felt through the fabric that separated their flesh, caused the tea frei to give a light shiver. She followed along naturally, being a floating torso without legs to drag, and if it hadn’t been for the fellow Raeven’s hand against her she would have become very disoriented. Luckily that contact was still there.
”Of course,” Ethiriel chuckled, following along as she was lead. Leo let out a chuckle of his own and followed closely behind, though he was still consciously looking around and snapping pictures when something of interest would come to view.

Zuri led her new friends effortlessly over to the place she had set up as her booth. The racks were full of bright, pretty (if slightly amateurish) paintings. There were a few sculptures in there too, but those were even less skillful than the paintings. She seemed quite proud, though, puffing up with a slight tinkle of icy feathers. "Here they are," announced the pleased owl frei, squeezing Ethiriel's hand gently and looking over at her own work. Given that she had limited experience, and all her skills had been honed only by practice, they did have quite a lot of charm. She had painted many pretty things, including a few rather lovely snowscapes that she'd displayed prominently, and she looked to Ethiriel after a moment, only just realizing her error.
"Sorry if I've commandeered you," she said softly, laughing a little. Usually Zuri would have been a lot more polite about hauling people around, but in the excitement of showing off to a new friend, she'd forgotten her manners entirely.
