Delucca smiled as she reclined in her living room. Today had been a rather...productive day. After a good long while of deciding about getting a child, preparing, and then deciding where she wanted one from, she'd finally gone through with it. The woman had gone to the Curio Shop that Ryan had come from and asked about getting a kid from there. While Switch had told her it was the items that chose people, the waitress had soon gotten picked to be guardian of the child that would be coming from a bottle of blueberry flavored lubricant. Said bottle was presently on the woman's coffee table, looking shiny and rather pretty.

She'd stopped in to see her boyfriend after picking it up, deciding to drop the bomb on him THEN rather than before so he wouldn't be able to try and object or talk her out of it. It might be a bit mean, but really, it wasn't his business if she got a kid or not. They didn't live together and she cared for his child partly anyway, so why not one of her own? Not that persuading him to her opinion on things like this was hard – he didn't have responsibility for the child so he didn't really have anything he could object to.

The man had taken it reasonably well. Apart from being rather mortified and feeling Switch would think he was a sexual deviant – which, was about the same terror and horror Switch had shown when that was the item that chose Delucca – he had been decently calm about the subject. It hadn't turned into a yelling match, and he'd been rather easily persuaded as to her reasons. As for when she'd told Ryan, the boy was hesitant at first, but it didn't take much for him to get to like the idea a bit more. Especially since he liked the smell of the lube (not that she told him what it was).

After making dinner for the family, she'd headed back to her house to relax for the evening. Having set the bottle down on the table, she was perfectly content to chill out, read and wait for it to start changing. Somewhere on her way home, she'd had a very stern talk with it, telling the bottle that it was only allowed to start changing when she was at her home, because she had to work some days and didn't want the child left alone in the house with no one to take care of it for several hours. Whether or not that was understood had yet to be seen, so she was content to hope for the best and just wait around.

Luckily for her, and the child, it seemed that the bottle had listened, sort of, to what she had said. Once they'd been home for a few hours, the thing's color began to seep away, starting with the metallic lid. Glancing over from her book, the woman noticed the mass of color beginning to form, and stood up. “You keep doing your think, I'm going to go grab something to wrap you up in.” she told it, heading to the room she'd set up for when she got a baby. Shortly after, the woman returned to the room with a large patchwork quilt, just as it had started to amass into a small girl.

“Hey kiddo. Come to Mama.” she said gently, kneeling and wrapping her in the blanket.

Home was nice – Lily liked being there and spending time with Mommy. She also liked the quiet atmosphere of their apartment, not having to listen to loud neighbors or be cramped in with messy strange people. The tot was more than content to stay in and relax, but that wasn't going to be the case.

Delucca had taken her, instead, to meet the rest of her “family”. Lily'd been taken to meet a man called Greloren and his children – Ryan and Nadia – and a little thing named Quill. Delucca hadn't been clear on just what this “Quill” thing was other than it liked pie and she was just as vague on the children, except that they were nice and needed food. So off the blueberry tot was carted to see some strangers, so few days after her arrival.

To be honest, they weren't as scary as she'd thought. Ryan was actually pretty terrified of her, despite being older and probably a bit stronger. Nadia, while very exuberant, didn't really seem to pay her much attention, much more absorbed in pie. And Quill turned out to be a little gray thing that tickled Lily's cheeks with it's nose and smelled like pie. The girl found herself quite fond of this critter. He was soft and snuggly and liked pie. Lily didn't much like pie but that was okay.

Greloren, the older male who was supposed to be her “Daddy” was nice enough. He had pointy ears and long hair but his house was messy and Lily was nervous around him. Mommy had just laughed and said to give it time. At least he wasn't mean, right?

The little family ate dinner together that night – Mommy cooked, she said, because the others had had too much green food, but what was wrong with vegetables? Lily'd asked that – she didn't mind veggies – but Mommy had just laughed and told her that wasn't what she meant.

It didn't take too long before the tot was drifting off on Ryan's bumpy shoulder, since he was sitting next to her. He still seemed nervous, but Lily'd taken at least a tiny shine to him. He wasn't the best of company, but he wasn't bad company at least.
