Growth Response When Lily grew, she'd just come home from room arranging with Lucifel. The two of them had had a bit of a tiff over Fel wanting too much extra stuff in their new room. It was weird already sharing a room with someone else part time, but Lily guessed she slept over enough for it to matter. Even though she'd made up with her best friend, it still felt weird to have had any sort of argument with her. Lily wasn't the type to stand up for her self at all. Curling up in bed, the girl thought about how they'd talked, how resolving the issue had gone down. Truly, Lily hadn't really wanted all of that extra stuff Lucifel was interested in, and it'd taken some convincing to talk her down from a few things and compromise on others. In the end, though, Lucifel's friendship with Lily proved stronger than her silliness and interest in having ridiculous things in her room, and Lily'd gotten her way. Lily'd almost been afraid for a few moments that Fel wouldn't want to be her friend anymore if she stood up to her, if she said what she didn't like. But that hadn't been the case, had it? Lily hadn't realized it, but she'd done some growing up today. She hadn't trusted her friend as much as she should have, and she hadn't trusted herself either. Lucifel wasn't a bad girl, and even if she was really enthusiastic, they were friends first and other stuff came second. Maybe, maybe Lily could work stuff out with her in future and maybe not worry so much about saying if she wasn't having fun? That might keep her from getting dragged into tide pools full of gross fish again, at the very least. It was as she thought this and curled up to nap, that a slow smile spread across the girl's features. Her body glowed a little and when she woke up, her covers felt just a teeny bit more snug, and her plushie, THING! seemed just a bit bigger. But that last part didn't make sense – plushies didn't grow when you did after all.

What makes a THING! a THING!? THING! had to be Lily's oddest toy. First of all, the girl's mother hadn't even bought or picked out this item, and Delucca was pretty sure it had just followed her home from the Curio shop the day she got Lily, but could never be sure. The item really was creepy enough to have followed her home, and given the fact that it'd presented itself to Lily in the freakiest possible manner (just landing on her chest while she was sleeping) that added credence to the idea it was magical. On the upside, the object was immediately found to be useful for confusing strangers and warding off nightmares. The blue haired tot would often claim that THING! was scarier than anything her dreams could come up with, so really, why not cuddle it to scare them away too? She'd even taken it along to sleep over at FelFel's house and the green haired girl had immediately taken a shine to it. The object had even managed to stay completely clean and dry after a food fight between the girls (something that Lily didn't even question by this point). But what WAS THING! anyway? Well, it was a snowman plush? One with colorful markings, a weird perma-smile, and fuzzy antlers. Honestly who designed this thing? It's inability to be properly explained or described had been what led to Lily's decision to even call it THING! to begin with – which she and FelFel had insisted was the proper way to spell it. What Lily did know for sure was that this item was too weird and magical not to do what other items from the Curio shop did. Sure, it was taking its sweet time but that didn't matter, right? After all – the Curio Shop had been where Lily, Tori, Lucifel, and Ryan had all come from, as well as most of Lily's friends. THING! had to come to life then, right? Because of this, the girl had already been setting up a small part of her room, just in case. And she was lucky she had because soon enough, the item known as THING! would be changing.

In The Dark Of The Night It was the middle of the night when it happened. Lily had been curled up in bed, clutching her favorite plush close, and trying very hard to sleep. However, a strange worry in the tot's gut nagged at her, saying she needed to be alert. Biting her lip, the blue haired girl stared about her dark bedroom and wished very much she was over at Lucifel's tonight. Having someone else nearby would make this better, right? And if she was really scared, Lily knew she could go find Tori or Vlad or Kaida to curl up with. Sure, Lily could curl up with Mommy, but that wouldn't make things better since Mommy was probably still asleep and would have a harder time understanding just why her daughter was upset. Whimpering a tiny bit, she clutched the soft plush close, rubbing her cheek so that the soft fuzzed antlers on THING!'s head tickled her face. Some people couldn't get away with this – the antlers would poke or hurt – but Lily was safe. The creature in her hands liked her, it'd keep her safe. Screwing her eyes shut, the girl tried to sing softly to calm herself down. Why was she so nervous tonight? As if in answer to that query, something strange and cool began to drip slowly down her arm. Startled up and out of her attempted sleep, Lily started at the mess of 'liquid' that was falling from THING! across her arm and pooling across the empty spot on the bed. In the dark, she couldn't see that it was her plush's color draining away – just that something was melting off of her toy. As the last of the color melted off of her stuffed critter, the blue haired girl tried to clutch it close but found the usual extra-softness of the plush gone. Freaked out, she dropped the object and crawled back a ways, watching in horror as the mass of liquidy stuff started to form together into a very pale shape. Lily would probably have had a heart attack when the face appeared on the mass of color but she had woken up to stare at THING!'s bizarre face enough times that instead it actually felt almost soothing. Quietly, she whispered, “THING!?” her speech was quiet and subdued, but the emphasis on the name just the same, “Issat you?” The smiling face on the mass of white grinned brighter and soon enough before her was the form of a child. A little um...it, who waved happily at Lily before snuggling down to rest. With a sigh of relief, the blue haired girl curled up by her new 'sibling' and shook her head. “You gotta not scare me like that, THING!” she informed it before snuggling up to rest. After all, THING! was here now and things would be okay. She could tell Mommy in the morning after she called Lucifel about this.

Name: Lily Sunday Date: Monday Free Write about Class: Today in class, we talked about our families. Most everyone in the class had at least one Mommy or Daddy – some people had two Daddies, or two Mommies, or a Mommy and a Daddy, but no one had as many people as I have. I have Daddy Vlad, and Mama Kaida, and Mommy, and Greloren. Plus I have lots of siblings – I have Ryan, and Nadia, and THING!, and Tori, and Amelia, and YoYo, and the others too! I don't remember all of their names but I have them!
Every morning, Mommy and I get up. She takes me to school and then goes to work at the cafe. After school, Tori comes to pick up me and then gets THING! from the house. Teacher says thing isn't a name, but Teacher hasn't met THING! before. We spend the afternoon at their house till Mommy gets off work and takes us home. Sometimes I sleep over with FelFel and THING! sleeps over with Tori. They're good friends. My Teacher says that's weird for THING! to do but I don't think they've met my friends or family before, so she doesn't know.
My school is okay but I don't like it much. We only go for part of the day and then take field trips. I don't really like that because if I'm going to be away from the Songs to learn, I should be in school learning. I go on trips with them already! I did like the Art Museum though. FelFel wouldn't get it. Tori might though. I might go with her to one, if her babies aren't in the way too much. I met a deer girl at the art museum, she was nice.
I think, when I grow next, I will ask Mommy if I can just get homeschooled with Felfel. She doesn't want me to because Fel is distracting, but I don't really like this school that much. It's boring and they don't teach very interesting things. I don't think Mommy likes them much either but she's trying to do what's best. I'll talk to her about it tonight.

An Almost Skill It was a warm afternoon that Lily was relaxing in the Song house after school. Lucifel had gotten dragged shopping by Vlad before Lily'd gotten out of school, and THING! was off with Tori, something about taking a day off from the babies. This left the blue haired girl alone in the Song house with just the other little ones to play with. Really, that wasn't too big of a problem. Most of them had gone out playing or something, which the girl really didn't blame them for. Amelia had been the one keeping Lily company while the girl was there. The unicorn was tired from having been dragged around by Lucifel all morning – something Lily could more than understand – and had wanted to just curl up and relax. So Lily'd pulled the little girl into her lap with a chosen storybook and was helping her read it. They were reading over a chapter book, rather than a kiddy book, since Amelia was a bit smarter than most little ones her age, so the two could work on books of about the same level. They'd been doodling illustrations for the book when Amelia had drifted off for a nap, curling up on Lily's lap. Occasionally, the girl would shift between her human and unicorn forms, but Lily didn't mind much since she was light and it was mostly her head on the girl's lap when she was a unicorn. Now alone once more and unable to really move without waking her companion, Lily looked into her backpack for something to do. Their 'art' teacher at school was really more of a 'craft' teacher, leaving them dumb projects and boring Lily. Today she'd had some leftover boxes of books and materials for a friendship bracelet project she'd been doing with one of her clubs – which the lady ran several of – and offered them to whatever girls wanted some. Lily'd somehow ended up with one of these boxes, idly thinking she could use it to make a trinket or two for Lucifel, as the other girl was often making and bringing her strange gifts. With a sigh, Lily pulled out the book and the strings, seeing if she could do anything with them before her friend got home. She wasn't really much of a crafting sort of girl, but hey, maybe this would be nice, right? Slowly, Lily pulled out a few green strings and a couple of blue ones, hoping to make one Lucifel would like. She cut them just a bit longer than would be necessary to fit her own wrist – after all, Lucifel's were a teeny bit thicker than her own, so that should fit, right? It was a few hours later when people came home and found Lily on the couch, having finished a few small bracelets and working on yet another. The book was abandoned on the couch and Lily was presently making a little bracelet around the still napping Amelia's horn, so the tot would have a little pretty trinket to wear when she woke up – not that the girl was much for omg trinkets, but it was something she might like. Lily grinned as Lucifel tore over for hugs and rolled her eyes before offering up the bracelets. Well, hopefully she'd like them, ne?
