The Story The beginning is a good place to start -Kuniku- Inari When the Gods created Nippon they intended for it to be a beautiful land of peace and prosperity; however as light will always cast a shadow, so evil was born into the world. Demons creeped into the land, slowly destroying the creatures the Gods had worked so hard to nurture. So the Gods created the Kuniku, a divine race born from the flesh of dogs with the purpose to protect and guard all life. It has been two centuries since the Kuniku were first introduced to the land, and while they still keep the balance between light and dark many Kuniku now simply look for a relaxing and pleasant life among the people that worship them; forgetting the warrior ways of the previous generations. An old man fisherman, "Gin" lives in a little shack, on a long beaten dock. His father, and his father's father, all taught their sons the legendary history of the Kuniku. The godly dogs came alive in young Gin's eyes, through fascinating bed time stories and spiritual family traditions. Every year the day before every festival, Gin's mother would spend the day cooking. Hearty main dishes, and succulent desert treats, nothing was too good for this family's beloved Kuniku. Young and old, colorful and neutral Kuniku would come to kid Gin's home for a treat of fresh yellow tail, hot rice, and sliced bananas. Gin's father, at one point in his earlier life, was visited reassuringly often by a warrior Kuniku. This ancient dog god had clearly been to battle against many ferocious demons, and Gin's father often left home for long periods of time, to wage unseen battles against evil. When Gin was young, this Kuniku returned for father Gin, in what would become his last aid in the fight for all things pure and innocent. Gin's father never came back, and Gin's mother retreated into the depths of their home. Depression plagued Gin's family. Years after coping, it was only the seasonal festivals that could bring Gin's mother back into the Kyushu sunshine. She missed her husband dearly, and felt his presence when she fed the cheerful Kuniku. She knew Gin's father had done everything he could to help the Kuniku race, the least she could do was show her appreciation to them, and her husband, by keeping the next generation of warriors healthy and happy. Now Gin spends nights on his rickety porch, smoking in the dark and reminiscing of his passed family. He never had a son to carry on their sound beliefs and traditions. It was the brave Kuniku he saw in the harbor, and the young men from neighbor families who respected the divine dogs, that gave him solace. In Spring, around the time of the Sakura Festival, Gin met Jerro "son", and Pacha "papa". At the time, Kyushu was very humid and bracing herself for another storm. Gin invited puppy and adult Pacha and Jerro under his awning for a small snack, and a break from the rain. The two graciously ate the dishes of rice, then Pacha shot off for the next closes shelter. Jerro sat before Gin, stomach still rumbling with greediness. Gin laughed and gave him another dishful. The grateful Kuniku ate while Gin smoked, then ran after his brother.
Jerro and Pacha both had no idea of who their father or mother was. Jerro hatched alone, nestled in the dry reeds below Gin's dock. He wasn't at all intimidated by entering the world by himself. Jerro's adventurous nature kicked in as soon as the Kuniku learned to walk. He bumbled all over Kyushu, exploring and learning about Nippon. After not too long, Jerro found Pacha's egg, further inland near the Banana plantation. He had little poison dart frog suctioned all over his egg shell. Adult Jerro pushed them off with his nose, and shortly after, Pacha hatched. The two quickly developed a brotherly relationship. Pacha was a little less independent than Jerro, as a result, but over time the two Kuniku would find their way.
Pacha followed his path and met Kenbu. Ode and her siblings came into this world, surrounded by their love. Once they were ready to be parents, the God Inari delivered their eggs to them in Honshu. Determined to raise his youngest daughter in peaceful, beautiful, land of Kyushu, Pacha climbed aboard Gin's boat with Ode nestled under his chin. Kenbu took car of their son, Arkantii, and their eldest daughter, Chishiki went to live a life in independence. The ride home was rough, waves spilled over the rim of Gin's skiff, so Pacha coiled his egg to keep her warm. So warm, in fact, that Ode hatched, right on the deck of the skinny little boat. Kyushu was then greeted by a brand new Kuniku pup, named Ode, Japanese for "born during travels".
Around the same time Jerro and Pacha were born, a Kuniku in the far off land, Hokkaido, came into the world. Her name is Atka, Inuit for "guardian spirit". Atka and her family have fought through generations of Kuniku for Hokkaido. Nothing more is known about Atka's childhood, but her linage is of proud and bold Kuniku, warriors who fought demons back from the shores and mountains of their wintery homeland. Atka loved that life, but dreamed of visiting the holy land of Shikoku. She left the pack, despite her enthusiasm for fighting monsters, to travel the rest of Nippon. After leaving her family, she will never be permitted to return. She misses her family and she misses the snow, but her lust for adventure was too great. She left the island when the water was frozen thick, and headed for Honshu.
Waha Nui, an aquatic Kuniku, also from Kyushu, is younger than Jerro, Pacha, and Atka, but older than Ode. She was an only child, and was loved to the world's end by her parents. She was taught the superstitious beliefs set in stone by her grandparents, and is a real "free spirit". Alone now, after Oushi murdered her parents (they weren't the strongest of fighters), Waha Nui continues to spread her star-watching, palm-reading wisdom to other Kuniku, while brushing up on her fighting skills to some day, avenge her parents.

The Present Chapter 1: Jerro and Pacha Grow Gin peered out the window above his sink. Outside, the blue and orange Kuniku had a new friend with him. Gin finished the dishes from his meek breakfast, and walked out his front door, leaving his kitchen alone to bath in warm dust. He wiped his hands on his greasy pants and started to strap on his work boots. Jerro and Pacha were strolling down the pier. Fish beat against the support beams, feeding on the morning gnats. At the end of the day, Gin recorded his latest siting of the Kuniku in the journal he kept as a memorial to his parents, who were devoted to promoting the happiness of Kuniku. Gin 19/7/09 The blue Kuniku saw me, but didn't seem to show any reaction to my presence. I suppose from birth Kuniku know what humans are, and what their rolls are in life. Such divine little creatures. After the two explored my pier, I gave them the little breakfast I had to offer. They were politely grateful. The blue and orange one, however, seemed a little cranky to have a stomach only half full of fish. He remained composed, then they dashed towards the rain forest to find more offerings. Jerro took Pacha to a banana plantation not too deep into the forest. While Pacha napped under some thick leaves, Jerro went further into the plantation for an adventure. He rubbed his shoulders and rolled in the sweet banana dirt to cool off. Then Jerro yipped, and shook his neck fur free of dust and pollen. Not a second later, a pitter pat noise caught Jerro's attention. He popped up from his spot in the dirt and turned to look back through the trees. It was another Kuniku, Isabelle, approaching the banana trees. Jerro and Isabelle became good friends, and made plans on traveling to Honshu together. Jerro was eager to explore a new land.
"Isabelle is so fun, Pacha." He paced around his baby brother. "Its hard for a kid to understand, but relationships are really important. You should go try to make some friends too."Pacha rolled his watery eyes. "I don't want to go on adventures, I want my allergies to go away!" He whined and rubbed his cheek and eye into his paw. Then his little nubs of claws got stuck in his thick, frizzed out mane. "And I want my mane to stop being soo poofy!" Pacha started to cry."Pacha, shut up! Maybe the humidity will be less in Honshu! There is only one way of finding out!" Jerro encouraged his little brother. "You could just hitch a ride with that fisherman we always seen, Gin! He would adore having you, probably feed you all different yummy sorts of fish... Honshu probably has all different kinds of yummy food too..."Pacha licked his lips. He loved food. He tugged his paw out of his nest of a hair-doo and stood up. "I dun knooow..." he looked down, away from his brother's stare.Jerro snorted. "Well, I do. You're going. He picked his kid brother up by the skin of his neck, and sprinted down to the harbor. Pacha bounced against his neck and chest whining and yelling all the way. At the harbor, Jerro tossed his baby brother into Gin's skip. Gin, aboard his skip, ankle deep in fresh fish, look perplexed. Jerro barked and barked, then head butted the side of Gin's boat. He panted playfully and put his front legs on the port bow, and pushed Gin and Pacha away.Pacha sat down and looked up at the fisherman. He blinked and opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water."Got something to say?" Gin teased. "...Want to go to Honshu?" The pup yipped and swayed side to side. Pacha whined and curled up in a pile of rope. He fell asleep and got ready for a new adventure. After plopping Pacha off at the harbor in Honshu, Gin unloaded his goods, bartered with some on the natives, then got ready to head home. Back in Kyushu, Jerro was making his own preparations for leaving home. In fact, he was waiting at the pier for Gin to return home. He was moaning and itching his belly on the rough wood planks. Jerro hated being hungry. "Rooo!" he hollered for Gin. After offering the Kuniku some fresh rice from Honshu, Gin headed inside to rest after a long day. It was exciting seeing the Kuniku grow and mature enough to go exploring on their own. The next day, Gin found himself with a moment to reflect in his book of memoirs.
Gin 29/7/09 I'm not usually outside around my house unless I am out on the water, fishing. Its shameful how drastically the weeds have wrapped themselves around the corner of my home. Maybe I'll get to some gardening this weekend. Oh, but how awfully it makes me miss the delicate gardening of my childhood home. I forget myself. Late this afternoon, returning from the market I found myself with a moment of time to relax on my creaky little porch. I, a fisherman from Kyushu, had time to sit, smoke and relax. It wasn't until now I realize how precious that moment was. While I exhaled sweet smoke, the orange and blue Kuniku I once recognized as a pup, strutted out of the edge of the rain forest. He was fully grown now, a majestic adult- long legs, a thick neck, and a sturdy back. He had a banana peel slipping from between his teeth. I watched the orange and blue dog toss the bright peel into the air, catching it and tossing it to himself. It fell into the dirt and he began to bark at it. Pawing and rolling on top of it, rubbing the slimy yellow mass into his neck. Sure he wasn't fighting demons right now, but I knew the reason I could relax and smoke was that he and his brethren had appeared on earth. I myself repetitively saw two Kuniku around my dock, and if everyone else around the harbor also were in the same position, Kyushu already a fair amount of protection. The world is getting brighter. After being kicked onto a boat and sent to Honshu, Pacha met Buka. The two pups quickly became best friends, and went on an adventure together to the frog god's cave. Pacha was eager to find some treasures he could show off to Jerro. He hoped that his brother was preparing to head to Honshu, he missed him, but didn't want to go back to Kyushu just yet. Honshu was just starting to grow on him.Time passed, and Pacha grew into an adult. Jerro left on Gin's skiff to explore Honshu and visit his brother. Isabelle would hopefully be meeting him there, if not, Jerro was ready to adventure by himself and meet even more Kuniku.

The Present Chapter 2: Starting Lives After spending some time as an adult in Honshu, Pacha become more and more comfortable with his surroundings. Soon, he met Kenbu in the forest. The two got to talking and before they knew it, they were in love. All his life, Pacha heard tall tales of Kuniku, fighting in great battles against demons. Kuniku, organizing in packs and attacking, defending, and shedding blood. Pacha did not love the idea of fighting. He often worried, how can a Kuniku not be "gung-ho" about fighting demons, when it was what they were put on this earth for? Pacha wallowed in his worthlessness. Then he met Kenbu. The true warrior Kuniku that put purpose back into his heart. Perhaps Pacha was put on this earth to love. Falling for another Kuniku, the idea of raising a family with him, it put life back into Pachas eyes. His fur was thicker, his smile was longer, and his cheeks were fuller. Kenbu and Pacha right away, began whispering of creating a family together. Once he arrived in Honshu, Jerro met a silky white Kuniku named Shirin. He explored all of Honshu with her, and even promised to one day show her around Kyushu. One morning, an opportunity to be apart of even a greater adventure presented itself to Jerro. He applied to join The Tsumetai, lead by Gabi.Leader Gabi An older male; he is somewhere around the 50 year old mark. Currently he makes his home in one of Hokkaido's villages in the deep mountains; protecting the humans there from the frequent demon attacks. He travelled around Honshu and Kyushu a few years ago, and was disgusted by the frivolity and carelessness of some of the newer generations of Kuniku. Because of this he's now looking to create a pack dedicated to tradition and fighting the demons. Currently the pack will be stationary and situated at the village, although it may turn in to a wandering pack in the future. Jerro told the alpha, Gabi, that he had always dreamed of being apart of something bigger than himself. He grew up around and with all the hard working members of Kyushu's community. Loyal, constructive, and caring, Jerro's greatest goal for life was aiding in the protection of these hard working men and women.
In Kyushu, Jerro had developed a moderate amount of experience fighting smaller, weaker demons. In his young adult hood, Jerro's bravery outweighed his muscle mass. After sizing him up, Gabi approved Jerro's enlistment into the pack. Soon Jerro would be off, traversing Nippon, slaying demons and saving fisherman. Before making plans to return home with his expected young, Pacha strolled down one of Honshu's beaches with Jerro. Although they were both spending quit some time in Honshu, neither one wanted to venture too far North. Their bodies were used to the humidity and harsh sunlight in the south. Jerro and Pacha missed their childhood together. It had seemed the two of them grew up far too fast. Now both Pacha and Jerro were following separate paths. After Jerro left with his pack, and Pacha returned home to raise his children, it would be unlikely the two ever met up again. He didn't want to bully his younger brother into it, now that Pacha was also an adult, even further along than Jerro, with a mate and a family... but Jerro wished for his younger brother to also join a pack. He didn't expect Pacha to join The Tsumetai, he knew he hated fighting, but Jerro could hunt his friend down easier if he were apart of a larger Kuniku community. The sun began to set. Kyushu was a tropical dot in the distance. The brothers reminisced of catching frogs together, then Jerro sighed and gave his brother a parting gift. "I don't know when I will be leaving for a pack life, I'm not saying this will be the last time we get to spend time together, I just want you to have this." Jerro presented to his brother, a necklace, strung with the shells from their homeland.Pacha took a sharp breath in. "Its lovely, Jerro!" He gasped. "It has been so long since I've seen Kyushu's shells." He whimpered.Jerro had a necklace similar to the one he gave to Pacha for himself. The two nuzzled, their cowrie shell necklaces making small "tinks" as the brushed against one another. They promised each other that they would remember their friends, no matter what happened with their family or fighting career, and parted way. Pacha returned to Kenbu, and Jerro headed north with Shirin. In late summer, Inari delivered three beautiful eggs to Pacha and Kenbu. After a long discussion of what they wanted for their kids, it was decided that the siblings would each start their lives separately. Kenbu took their son to raise him in the ways of fighting. Pacha took their youngest, daughter Ode, to be born in the tranquility of Kyushu's rain forest. The middle child, Chishiki would start her adventure in Honshu. Eager to return to Kyushu before Hurricane season made their journey lethal, Pacha left with the black and purple specked egg aboard, you guessed it, Gin's skiff. The Present Chapter 3: Ode's Childhood Pacha climbed aboard Gin's boat with Ode nestled under his chin. The ride home was rough, Hurricane Season wasn't far off. Waves spilled over the rim of Gin's skiff, so Pacha coiled his egg to keep her warm. So warm, in fact, that Ode hatched, right on the deck of the skinny little boat. Kyushu was then greeted by a brand new Kuniku pup, named Ode, Japanese for "born during travels". As if she were born for adventure, all during her growth, Ode was sneaking away from her father to find "demons" to fight. Inanimate banana peels, rocks, and twigs fell prey to her warrior spirit. Pacha loved seeing his baby girl take after her lover in the ways of fighting. It reminded him of Kenbu while they were apart.
Although both entirely independent, Ode and Pacha stayed together while in Kyushu. Jerro dropped in often enough, but this father and daughter duo was clearly a force of positive energy to be reckoned with. It was hard for a fishermen to stress about his minimal catch while Pacha and Ode were around, they brought smiles to everyone's faces.

The PresentChapter 4: Atka Starts Her Adventure(A PRP) The night of the Midwinter Festival, Atka left her homeland. It was the longest night of the year, and Atka's last chance to see her family all together before leaving. After an evening of of heartfelt goodbyes, Atka left the shores of Hokkaido. Her parents understood her desire to travel and learn more about the world, but it was custom that once a member of their nobel family left their divine homeland, they were forever dead to the family. Atka was exiled from here on out. Her family lived, for generations, for the sole motive of protecting Hokkadio from demons. Leaving Hokkadio meant disgracing their motherland and their family.
The journey between Hokkaido and Honshu was long and treacherous, which is why Atka picked the longest, coolest night of the season to cross the frozen body of water. She bounded off the shores of her beloved wintery land, and took long cantering strides towards Honshu. The sky was cloudless. The moon was high and stars were reflecting off the ice- she could already see the short mountain tops of the unexplored land.
After months of traversing, Atka made it to the southern slope of the mountain side. She was now closer to the season of thawing, and further south. Warily making her way towards the base of the mountain and a welcoming green valley, Atka looked to the heavens and saw rain falling towards her. The storm thundered directly over her, trapped by the mountain peeks. It poured down on the valley, and pounded at the side of hill. Atka moved cautiously. It didn't take long for her front feet to slip out in front of her. The small amount of grass her paws were using for traction flew past her on a wave of rain runoff. Atka whipped her head around to see her hind legs get pulled under a layer of mud. The wave of rain and dirt spun her and pushed her on her side. Thin trees and bushes were ripped up from their roots. Atka clambered over a piece of soaked bark, and held on as best she could. The rain continued, but soon the rapids slowed down. Atka was now buried in dense mud, with only her neck and right arm exposed.Hopelessly Pretty A deep, frustrated growl errupted from the throat of Yasuragi as he struggled through the deep mud of the mountain trail that would typically take only minutes for him to run down. He had come up the steep path several times before when things were on his mind and he needed to find comfort, and had expected to find that tonight. He had been thinking about his younger sister again, and that always brought up an unhappy feeling. Unfortunately, his simple adventure routine had been thwarted by a storm that he hadn't been aware of earlier in the day. Yasuragi continued his trek, slowly making his way toward a valley near the base of the mountain. Pulling his feet out of the mud that threatened to trap him, he leapt onto the trunk of a tree that had fallen on its side after being uprooted to get a better view.
Yasuragi scowled and shook his head to get water out of his eyes; the pelting rain was still coming down hard and making traveling dangerous. It was from his position on the tree that he realized the power of the storm had caused a mudslide. It looked like a chunk of the road he was taking had depressed and fallen off the mountain, which sucked big time. 'Great, I can't go this way anymore' he thought, before climbing off of the tree. Yikes! His footing wasn't sound as his paws made contact with the slick ground, and Yasuragi slipped off of the path.
Down the trail of mud and debris that had just covered Atka he slid, a pained whine could be heard as he hit his left shoulder roughly against a protruding rock. Gods, he knew that was going to hurt in the morning. After coming to a halt as he lay on his side, Yasuragi looked around, trying to figure out how far he had fallen when he spotted something else sticking out from the mud. He supposed it could be another rock or a bush, but why did it look strangely like another kuniku's head..? "Tch." He uttered in disbelief. Hopefully he hadn't banged his head on something on the way down; the last thing he needed was hallucinations in this kind of weather. Atka pushed the at the ground with her right paw. She couldn't find any traction, the mud just kept slipping away from her. She growled and tried to wiggle a few more inches out of the suffocating cocoon. The mud had put her in a position as if she were lying on her back, but was putting so much pressure on her, Atka's toes were numb. She couldn't move her leg.
The Kuniku yelped and tossed her head, searching for help. A grey and white Kuniku had little contrast against the rainy day, it was his shimmering purple eyes that caught Atka's attention. She opened her mouth to yelp towards him, the continued to wiggle her abdomen.Hopelessly Pretty The sound of Atka's yelp was just audible to Yasuragi through the havy falling rain. It took him a moment to realize that the sound had come from something alive. 'Hn. Looks like I'm not going crazy...' Yasu thought, before carefully pulling himself upright onto his feet. He took a step toward Atka, but stopped and winced as a wave of pain pulsed through his left shoulder. "Not good..." He muttered to himself, but then continued his slow trek toward the dark shape. He wasn't sure if the yelp had come from another Kuniku or a dog, but either way, he would at least go investigate its source. He just hoped that he wouldn't get trapped in the mud because of his curiosity, when perhaps his main priority should have been to find shelter from the storm. As Yasu started to move in her direction, Atka pushed higher and louder pitched yips out form the back of her throat. Her lungs expanded, "YAP YAP!" The mud coated dog was embarrassed to be lacking so much in independence at this point in time, but having pride wouldn't do her too much if she was dead. "YAP! YAP!" A wave of dirty water broke free and hurled at Atka's face. Her chin smacked against the ground and sent her mind into a dizzy tumble. She never should have left home, Atka knew that now, in her late hour. Doplets fell on to her cheeks and streamed over her eyelids. A howl erupted from her spit lips. A blurred vision took over, and Atka fell unconscious.Hopelessly Pretty Yasu growled in frustration when a wave of water crashed into him, nearly knocking him over and onto his side. It took a lot of effort for him to get his paws out of the yucky mess, but he continued his way toward Atka. The sound of her yapping drove him forward.
"Hang on! I'm coming!" He barked, unaware that Atka was unconcious.
Yasuragi struggled, but was able to pick up his pace when Atka howled just before passing out. When he finally got close, he realized that the second victim of the mudslide was in fact, another kuniku. Yasu cursed when she showed no response to him getting up close, but began trying to dig her out anyway. She may be a total stranger, but there was no way he was going to leave her for dead. He started digging around her side in hopes of freeing her other arm first. The progress was slow because the mud kept sloshing into place, but little by little, Atka was getting out of the muck. The silty muck slid around the Kuniku in treacherous ripples. The entire side of the mountain looked as those it was moving in a slow crawl. Atka's limp neck continued to let her chin smack into the pile of mud forming around her. Her chest was now free though, and although unconscious, larger amounts of oxygen we able to fill her lungs.
In her weary daze, Atka dreamed of her snowy homeland. The cold dirt around her was really a fluffy, chilly cocoon of snow, cradling the pup during her daily romp. Puppy Atka burrowed deep into the snow bank and woofed at her nearby litter mates. Then a hard clump of snow fell from the tree tops above them and with a soft pound, and hit Atka in the head.
She opened her eyes, and found herself back in the sinking mud of Honshu. Cold pellets rained down and slid over her eyelids. Atka took a refreshing breath and saw Yasu, boldly digging her out. She whipped her head around, searching for her body parts, then started to dig towards her back legs. She barked in frustration and poured energy into her tail, whipping it back and forth under the mud, wriggling itself free. Atka jerked upward once more and launched herself out of the muddy trench.Hopelessly Pretty Amethyst eyes widened in surprise when Atka finally awoke, but quickly squinted to keep the rain out again. Yasuragi grabbed her by the scruff of the neck to tug her as she made her way out of the lethal mud. He let go and then glanced at her to check and see if she was injured, but realized that probably much wasn't wrong other than stiff joints. He opened his maw to speak, but quickly shut it.
Somehow, Yasuragi didn't know what to say to Atka as he looked her in the eyes. He wasn't going to ask her if she was okay because that would be stupid, but there was no point to asking her what she had been doing before getting caught by the mudslide either. He frowned at her; this was the trouble with getting involved with strangers, but especially with females. Once Yasuragi started thinking, he just drew a blank.
"I don't know about you, but I'm getting out of here." He muttered, before turning to walk away from Atka. His ears lay back against his skull as he slowly hobbled down the hillside that would take him to the forest, his original destination, but his shoulder was killing him. He could almost feel the tendons ripping in agony with every step he took, but it was his pride that kept him from whining in pain. Atka shook the last bit of mud from her ear, enabling her to think clearly once more. That grey Kuniku had surely saved her, only Atka's arrogance would keep her from seeing that. He had helped her though, gone out of his way and put himself in danger. It was a very nobel thing to do. She pulled her ankles and paws out of the mud and bounded after him.
Not exactly anxious to start a conversation with a stranger, Atka waited a moment before speaking. He had helped her, and he seemed bold, brave, maybe even trustworthy, but something about him seemed almost... brute? Atka spoke up. "I was taught to always be mindful to those who have you in mind." She carried her head and straightened her shoulders, painfully trying to hide the aches in her muscles- left from being buried in mud. "So thank you, warrior, for helping me out back there." She relaxed a little bit and said softly, "it was selfless."

The PresentChapter 7: Trouble in Shouhou- Together At Last(an EVENT) Come Down Carousel Shouhou, the bustling port city situated on the southern end of Honshu, the main hub of trade between Kysuhu and the main island. There are always boats coming and going here, and villagers making their way through the busy markets that surround the docks. It's been a good summer for Shouhou, with large catches being taken in by the fisherman, thanks to their prayers to Ryujin.
Lately there have been rumours circulating the town, talking of a large shadow seen moving through the water- and a few of the boats haven't been returning back to the harbour. Although it could just be imaginations running wild, Inari has sent his moths throughout Nippon to contact Kuniku and let them know they may be needed here. Waha Nui, after recieving the news from Inari's moth, turned on her haunches and launched of the peir she had been resting on. One, two, three large strides to the end of the wooden dock and the green Kuniku flew into the crest of a wave, diving underwater with a small splash, barely audible to nearby creatures. A school of fish darted away from her, and Waha started slithering away from Kyushu, towards Honshu. Her tail rapidly propelled her forward. Waha loved being helpful, but a Kuniku can't help to wonder when and if they are taking on more than they can handle. She slowed and raised her head above the water. Her nose, eyes and ears were exposed to the dark sky above the ocean. Should she wait for more Kuniku to arrive? Suddenly, a large clash filled her ears, maybe a building had collapsed? Waha could smell demon stench. She started to growl, then heard the screams of fright and despair from Shouhou's people. There wasn't any time to wait, hopefully more warriors were coming from the North, perhaps even some from Kyushu had already arrived. She dove deep underwater, ripping through the push and pull of currents, towards the dangerous sea serpent.Ode was the only one in her family spending time in their homeland, Kyushu. Her father, Pacha, had been in Honshu for some time, visiting his friend, Buka. Ode had never been off the island, but now was no time to wonder if she would have father's permission. She darted to the nearest skiff, and started barking at the fisherman to take her to Shouhou! Hopefully her father, Uncle Jerro, brother and sister would already be there, fighting off the foul Oushi. A teasing wave pushed and pulled Waha from side to side. She caught site of Kyokujitsu. He was an unknown Kuniku, but they were all sons and daughters of the great Inari. Waha breached to take in a gulp of air, then dove again, swimming with Kyokujitsu, Sakana, and the other warriors. Coming in form another angle, Waha could see the movements of two more Kuniku, Suiei and Sangokai. They must be closing in on the monster. She shot her eyes forward, searching for the dark shadow. Water streamed off her muscles. Everyone had to be on their toes. If they were lucky, they could get the serpent surrounded. Sango must have just arrived in Honshu before Ode. She saw the Kuniku fending off Oushi the moment her boat docked. Ode pushed off the distressed wood and launched into the water to attack the remaining monsters. Two sizable Oushi clutched to the underbelly of the boat. People aboard it screamed in horror. The demons rocked it back and forth, threatening to capsize the defenseless hunk of wood. The humans would surely be easy targets if they were to fall in the water, Ode thought. She flailed widely, and sunk her teeth into one of the Oushi. It reared and screeched, then dove underwater. Ode let go before being pulled to deep, but then the Oushi just resurfaced and swam back to the boat. The black and purple Kuniku was by no means an experienced swimmer, and was no match for the sea demons. Hopefully an aquatic Kuniku would show up soon. Ode had to do something for the humans, but could only stall the inevitable.Hopelessly Pretty Kohaku swam as quickly as his paws would carry him to the shore of the pond he'd been resting in when Inari's moth had told him the news of the demons wreaking havoc around the port city Shouhou. As soon as his paws met the dirt he began a mad dash toward the beach and out of the forest. His heart was pounding quickly in his chest; he didn't have very much experiencing fighting against sea Oushi, but more than once he'd gotten them away from him by giving them a sharp bite to the gills when they'd chased him around the coral reefs near Kyushu. As he approached the beach, he happened to come out of the forest near Sango and Ode. His ears flattened back when he realized that both the girls were taking on tough demons in one-on-one combat, but he rushed past Sango to help Ode first because she probably wouldn't last very long out in the water. "Go help the other girl with the Oushi on land, I'll take care of these ones here!" he called out to her, hoping that she's hear him above the crashing waves. Despite being a little small for an adult Kunifish, Kohaku wouldn't easily be taken down. -Kuniku- Inari Those who had chosen to take on the sea serpent were rapidly approaching the massive beast. It had now slipped beneath the surface of the water; disappearing from view in the deep breathes. The smaller sea Oushi kept coming out from the ocean; attacking both humans and Kuniku alike. It was then that the sea serpent chose to emerge completely; it burst out of the sea, sending massive waves rolling towards the shore. With an ear splitting roar it dived back down into in the direction of its enemy Kuniku. Jaws were opened wide as it charged down towards the closest group; clearly unperturbed by its competition and ready to tear them apart. Waha Nuidove to be at Kyo's side when he ordered the pack to keep steady. The sea serpent was as ready as they were. Aching for a fight, Waha growled and started to thrash her tail and head. Her flaming eyes never left the eyes of the monster. As Kyo shot forward, Waha roared and spun after him. The currents were less threatening behind his masculine body, so Waha stayed back, drafting. "Lets take this demon out!" She pinned her ears back and egged her team mates on. She grinned to show off her pearly teeth. They stood out in the dark waters. Waha was more than ready to take a bite out of this foul destroyer. She was swift like a thick scaled fish. In her element, she felt courageous and bold. There was no doubt that her and the other kunifish could take this monster down. She opened her mouth and let the water stream past her tight jaw. Air bubbles left her nostrils and Waha was ready to dive even deeper. "Let Inari deliver us strength!" She shouted.Things were heating up, Ode was glad at the arrival of Kohaku. She nodded and dropped under the surface of the water, clumsily making her way for shore. Suddenly her back paws, then ankles, knees, and front legs were violently pulled deeper into the ocean. Ode strained to look for an Oushi grabbing at her haunches, but it was the invincible pull of the current, created by the sea serpent's massive waves. Ode's last air bubbles escaped her nostrils and she was tossed back, then up and forward in a spinning motion by the wave. A crash landing pushed her onto the shore, just behind the advancing line of Oushi. Pacha, after hunting down his brother, Jerro, rushed to the shores of Shouhou, eager to make sure his children were staying safe. Jerro was there for the sheer enthusiasm of blood spill. Pacha leapt out from the tree line, landing next to Sango. He barked and started to claw at the advancing Oushi. "Ode!" He shouted to his daughter, "Ode!" Pacha would help out here as much he could before searching for his other children. Hopefully as soon as Ode woke, she would be able to defend this entire area with Sango.Jerro was already searching other parts of the city for Arkantii and Chishiki. Kenbu could take care of himself. Jerro knew in this crisis they should really be considering the human's safety, but he could only imagine the concern of a father. He dreamed of having children of his own some day, (wink wink, cutie shirinypoo) and sympathized with his brother. The blue and orange Kuniku sprinted the shore line in search of where he could be helpful.-Kuniku- Inari The advancing Kuniku were rapidly approaching the Sea Serpent’s position. The demon beast thrashed beneath the waves, body coiling around itself below the surface. After its initial dive he focused in on one the closest of his enemies. Its eyes snapped wide open, jaws parting to let out a stream of bubbles. Waha Nui and Kyo were in its sights. Ignoring the others that came at him from every side, he charged towards the two Kuniku ready to tear into them and weaken the Kuniku attack. Waha Nui's eyes widened as the Serpent charged. She snorted, releasing a stream of bubbles- mimicking the Sea Serpent's intimidation attempts. Water streamed off her body and Waha spiraled towards the beast's parted jaws. "GRRRRRRAAWGH!"
She sneered and immediately dove deep under the Serpent's head, right before meeting up with his sharp teeth. Her tail rhythmically propelled her through the tight currents. Harsh pressure kept Waha from daring to dive deeper, so she kept her claws tense, ready to strike a moment of opportunity when the beast's soft belly was exposed. The Kuniku couldn't waste anytime.
Waha made brief eye contact with Kyo, also preparing to attack. Perhaps Waha Nui's opportunity of attempting an attack was right now. All within moments, she was underneath the beast, sharpened claws launching towards the belly of the serpent. Waha parted her jaws, ready to snap out a chunk of the monster's flesh. The cool salty water filled in around her gums.-Kuniku- Inari The serpent suddenly changed its course as Sakana rush as him; her attack tearing through some of the scales its underside and clouding the water with blood. The giant demon thrust its head towards the female Kuniku, smacking her sideways. Waha has already dived beneath its earlier attack and it hadn’t noticed her, intent on the little fool that had dared cause it damage. Then claws tore into soft belly and the demon reared back, head breaking through the surface of the water to give a loud, ear splitting howl of rage. The serpent suddenly curled its body up, trying to crush Waha within its coils. Waha gasped as the serpent squeezed her. His flesh felt like a thick rope, tightening around her. Unable to move her forelegs or back legs, she panicked. Waha shook her neck and tossed her head side to side! Then she snapped down, biting the monster. She was really craning her neck to reach him with her jaws, and wasn't sure just how powerful her efforts were. It was getting difficult to breath, Waha could feel her head getting lighter. Her eyes clouded over, and she could no longer see her brothers and sister's fighting around her. "I am Kuniku Warrior", she told herself. "Bless Inari."
Waha's jaws loosened and she fell limp.A swirl of noises bounced through Ode's ears. She blinked and her eyes rolled all around the scene of the battle, giving her glimpses of Oushi carcasses, Sango's ankles walking in a not too straight line, and Papa, laying by her side. She blinked again and the world came into focus. Ode gasped and tried to shoot up, "BATTLE!" She cried. Slightly disoriented, Ode looked all around her, trying to figure out what she missed. Her head was ringing a little from the crash landing, but no broken bones, no ripped skin. She barked as deep she could and rushed towards the nearest Oushi trying to crawl up behind Sango.Pacha smiled and followed his daughter. She was such a better warrior than he was. Kenbu would loved to have seen that. Pacha tackled the Oushi and barked cheerfully to Sango. "Send positive energy while you mend, brother!""Yes!" Ode joined in, "it's all about energy!" She then enthusiastically smacked a new Oushi in the face with her paw, claw side out. "Kuniku will succeed! Bless Inari!" The family howled together and fought Oushi, all the time keeping Sango in their peripherals. Now was not the time to leave a a brother hanging.
