Father: Father's RPer: Avid_RPer18 Mother: Mother's RPer: Duelist of Pokemon Modifiers: Corn Baby and Salamander RP responce: The Winds of A New Day - OngoingThe sun had scarcely emerged from the horizon when Valentine, along with his ever faithful chupacabra, left the cozy darkness of the den that he shared with his mate, Mya, and their familiars to go make sure that their borders were well marked and to see if there had been any unwelcome or unannounced intrusion. This was the sort of task that kept him away all day if it was to be done properly, so he left early in the hopes of returning later in the evening rather than some time tomorrow. Before departing the male gave Mya a very light nuzzle to her jaw and neck as a soft goodbye and a promise of his later return. Valentine spread his wings to take to the sky to go fly to the edge of their lands to do his job, protect the things that he cared for within its boundaries.
Mya gave a simple stir and murmur at the nuzzle before drifting back to the realm of slumber. Although not normally a late sleeper, rising at the same time as Valentine did, the female dragon had been feeling sluggish...unwilling to do very much of the tasks and chores she busied herself with during the day. Rolling over on the silk bed so she was sitting up, Mya eyed the shadows with sleepy eyes before glancing up towards the slumbering owl nearby, head tucked under his wing and talons clinging to a wooden perch that a Pan'lun had kindly given her in exchange for fish and or trade goods a few days before. Rowen was certainly happy but Mya was anything but....Her heart ached with an unfamiliar loneliness and a longing for something. The young maiden just had no idea what it was she wanted.
After a few hours of flying, with stopping for the occasional brief break to rest his scarred up wings and to grab a bite of breakfast for himself and his familiar, Valentine arrived at one of their boundaries that was one of their more distant ones. The patrolling pair were surrounded by aged pines, oak and ghostly pale aspen and birch trees. This was their starting point. They set to their task refreshing the claw marks on the trunks that were previously marked, making their presence known. The pair worked efficiently and quickly, making good time as they took off to head to their next checkpoint. As the male flew his mind drifted to thoughts of the den and how his Mya would be awake by now. He wondered how she was feeling and if her dreams were sweet, but didn't let himself linger on thoughts of her for long. Rajani, his chupacabra companion, was speaking to him, wanting to chat to help pass the time in between marking places.
"Mmmmm......" A stretch of her muscles and Mya went from sleepy and sluggish to someone who could get around with reasonable coordination. Folding her long wings against her body, she made way to the warm sunlight; behind her, Rowen had his feathers all fluffed out as he attempted to awaken. Sadly, he was failing miserably and drifting back into slumber, almost falling forward off his perch every time he nodded off. After cleaning out the ashes of the fire pit and knocking them into the trash pit, she moved on to her next few chores around their territory. Berries and herbs had to be picked, fish had to be dried and leftover meat had to be smoked; as she moved around, Mya combined what she had been doing with a little cleaning here and there. So busy...at least it kept her mind off the fact she was alone, at least until Rowen could knock himself out of his stupor.
Valentine and Rajani went about their business, marking and reasserting the fact that any lands beyond those points were theirs and all outsiders, aside from those who had the couple's permission to be there, were in for a rude awakening should they decide to try and take something that wasn't theirs. Before long, their stopping places sort of felt like they were all blurring together as the Painter and companion skirted around the edge of the territory. It wasn't a fun task, but it was a necessary one that needed to be done once every month or two. After a handful more of places, Rajani and Valentine took a bit of a break, having found a clear, clean stream to quench their growing thirst with. The male stretched his wings, feeling the slight tug of his scars, before folding his wings at his sides. "Hey, Raj," Valentine spoke with a distant, reflective look on his face. "We will get done before midnight. I want us to be back in our den before then. Alright? So no whining or complaining that your feet hurt. We both know full well that whenever you have a lot of travelling to do you go in your orb form." His statement warranted a snort from his companion and a mumbled, hissing affirmation.
"Mya?" The fluttering of wings above her caught the dragoness's attention and allowed Rowen to gain her eyes and ears as he landed on one of her horns; Dark-blue eyes blinked as his head did a 180 to look around the area. "Have Lord Valentine and Rajani left to scout out the border?" A simple bob of the head he was perched on was his answer. At the flitting of concern weaving its way into his thoughts, Rowen jumped down to the ground and hawk-walked so he was standing in front of his master. She appeared a little on the distant side. "MYA!" "AH! Huh? Oh....." The yell had snapped her out of her thoughts and she glanced down at Rowen. "Is something wrong?" "No...It’s nothing, Rowen. Nothing to fret about...."
The morning flew by as the maned dragon and his vampiric companion held to their task at hand. The sun was reaching its peak in the crisp blue sky and the shadows of the surrounding forest and rocks grew short around them. Their pace slowed considerably in the noon day sun, since Rajani was definitely not a fan of high noon. The chupacabra kept getting underfoot in an attempt to stay out of the bright sunlight. Valentine and Rajani paused for lunch, having found a rabbit warren that Raj could pilfer for the both of them. Having a chance to just sit back for a short time felt nice, but it made him keenly aware of how attached he had grown to Mya's presence and how being gone from her familiar scents and mannerisms left him feeling a little off kilter like something important was missing. The dragon absently preened his feathers while he waited. Rajani returned with three rabbits dangling from her jaws. She angled her head at him, apparently caught off guard by his distant eyes and half hearted grooming. Laying the catch at his feet, she took a few steps back. "Valentine? Come back Valentine!" The dragon snorted in surprised as he was rousted from his reverie. "Oh, Raj, you're back. Nice catch." The chupacabra lowered herself into a crouch. "You feeling okay?" All she got for an answer was a vague grunt from the male as he selected a rabbit for himself. They were a little over half way done and Valentine didn't want to waste precious time with chatting.
After many more hours of travelling and making sure that their borders have remained undisturbed, Valentine and Rajani were closing in on their den site, a very welcome sight for their weary eyes. Familiar scents and sights brought smiles to their faces. Upon spotting the clearing, Rajani in her orb form raced ahead and shifted to her natural form. The male dragon landed shortly thereafter before making his way up to the cave entrance since Mya wasn't out in the clearing. "Mya," Valentine crooned softly to the inside of the cave, eagerly looking forward to laying eyes on his sweet mate again.
Eyes blinking open, and with a soft hoot, Rowen flapped his silent wings and glided over to where the voice had come from; slipping past the male dragon, the owl made way towards where Rajani was hiding in the darkness. Stirring at the whisper, Mya instantly perked up; pulling herself off the bed, she moved over to and started nuzzling her love with the air of someone who was love starved. "Valentine..." She pulled away and smiled at him, her eyes making the darkness of the cave appear as bright as day.
Valentine was a little surprised to see Mya in bed at such an early hour. He was a little worried, but just the happiness of seeing her again was enough to fill his attention for the time being. He beamed to his beloved mate and brushed his feathery mane against her neck tenderly. "Hello, love. How are you feeling? Awfully early to be in bed, isn't it?" He could tell there was something up. "Let's sit out in the fresh air." Val moved to the entryway and looked over his wing back to Mya, marveling at the vibrancy of her eyes. "Come. This is a wonderful time of day. Talk with me, Mya."
"Well, I am feeling a bit tired at the moment, so I thought I would rest and wait for you." Snuggling into the soft warmth of her loves' mane for a moment, Mya pulled away after a few moments and gave the male a soft but distant smile as the orange/red glow of the setting sun lit up the land. As he looked back at her, the female could not help but admire how the fiery glow accented the warm brown/tan of his scales. "Ah! Of course." Snapping back to reality and stepping out of the cavern, Mya felt her wings spread to catch the breeze that started to flow off the ocean but she quickly closed them before stepping closer. "Valentine, what was it you wanted to talk about? Everything’s fine!" As if; if there was one thing about Mya, it was she was an extremely bad liar.
"I see. Well, I hope I didn't keep you waiting for too long. I'd hate to make you worry for me." Valentine gave her a bit of a knowing look. He could pick out her lie immediately. The dragon gave his head a shake, a small smile on his features. "Mya, you betray yourself there. You're a terrible liar. Please tell me what is weighing so heavily on your mind. I've sworn myself to you no matter what comes our way." The warm tan and deep red male nuzzled his mate's cheek, encouraging her to open up to him.
Mya could only blush and look away from him as his gentle words caused her heart to flutter, like it always did when he was around. "I-it's nothing! Really!" She had no right to make him worry about silly wants. "Everything is fine."
"Mya," The red and tan male gently chided her. "You already know you can tell me anything." He gave a little sigh and shook himself, ruffling his feathers slightly. "Tell you what, could you run out and see if you can nab a salt stone? We're getting low and we need it if we're to store meat in the cave. I would've gotten one while I was out, but I wanted to get back here to see you. How about you take Rajani and Rowen along with you? Maybe you'll feel more like opening up to them." His tone was calm and he teasingly hinted at a false sense of having his feeling hurt from her hesitancy to share her thoughts. In truth, he wanted to get her out of the cave so he could get something special ready for her. Valentine wasn't certain if it was the fact that he had been gone all day and he wanted to make it up to her, or if it was the warm fading sun bathing her delicate form in a golden light that made her presence seem to shimmer with almost unearthly beauty, but he wanted to do something super special for his lady love.
"Ah.....Well...." He had spoken words that were all too true. They wrenched at her heart to make the need to tell the truth was overwhelming; alas, that was never meant to be though. She sighed at the request and agreed with a feeble nod. Salt Stone? Those were in the Canyon...at least the familiars were coming. "Alright. I'll return soon."
Valentine nodded with a smile. "Good. I'm glad. Don't let Rajani and Rowen fight too much. She's been missing messing with him on our marking mission." The dragon was already forming a list in his head of everything that he needed to do while they were out to make everything perfect. Giving Mya a nuzzle and a lick to her cheek. "Take care and don't take too long. Alright, love?"
"Does this mean I have to put Rajani on her leash?" While she knew their bickering was fairly easy to control, she couldn't help but toss in that little joke. Smiling, she nuzzled the male before flicking him on the nose with the tip of her tail. "I certainly hope you're not shooing me away because you have another female hidden somewhere." With that, she tossed him another smile before taking to the air with a flap of her wings, Rowen following close behind her.
The male chuckled heartily. "Well, if you think it'll help..." He answered grinning at the image of Rajani on a harness and leash. Valentine pawed at his nose. "Now I would never. You're plenty of woman for me. Why chase after the workers when you already have the queen?" He smirked at his analogy and gave a fond sigh as he watched her take flight with Rowen on her tail. He turned to his chupacabra and found her stalking a mouse. "Raj, you're going too." She lifted her head, looking none too pleased that her prey escaped. She noticed that Rowen was going and that was enough to get her going. After a few bounds, she shifted to her orb form and flew after them. Valentine nodded and waited at the entrance to their den until they were harder to see in the darkening sky. Once satisfied with their distance, he turned inside and got to work. Using some of the loose silks from their bed, he draped it around their cave like fine tapestries. He replaced the wood in the fire pit with fresh logs and lit it, as well as the handful of candles that he got from a trade on one excursion to the market. He was making sure that everything would be perfect.
Rowen knew what Valentine was up to and the old owl could not help but feel grateful towards the dragons' attempts to make his mistress feel like her old, peppy self. Flapping his silent wings, he only eyed the purple/black orb that caught up to them before back winging a bit. Mya dove into a shallow dive and he followed suit as the forest gave way to the amber walls of the Sandpaint canyon. Finding a salt crystal here was like finding a needle in a haystack....hopefully that would be enough time for....whatever Valentine was doing back home.
Rajani circled and bobbed around the silent owl and his mistress. She could tell that Valentine had been thinking about something all day and she guessed that is why she was sent off with Lady Mya and Rowen. The orb form chupacabra dipped lower in time with the other two. She would help out the best she could in finding the salt stone. Valentine busied himself doing this, that, and the other; preparing a nice meal, setting up a cozy environment, making everything perfect. He had a vision of how it would look and he was eager to see what Mya's reaction to all of his work would be. The dragon hoped that she wasn't expecting it.
Landing on an outcropping of rock, Mya inhaled to take in the scent of earth lingering in the air. As she folding her wings, Rowen darted past towards the canyon bottom, towards the river that was flowing to the sea; a small bag was tied to his leg was ment to carry anything valuable that could be found by or in the waters. "Hm.....If I remember correctly....the salt cavern was...." AH! There! She smiled and dove for a cave mouth hidden by some trees growing from the canyon walls all around her. Landing, the salt crystals (what was left) glimmered from their places. Sadly though, several other painters seem to have made a stop here earlier...anyone considered a decent size had already been carried off, if the claw and teeth marks on the soft rock had been anything to judge by. She sighed. "Just our luck....."
Valentine was rubbing some herbs into the meat to season it mildly, leaving some plain in case Rowen or Rajani would want a taste. After placing the seasoned and unseasoned meat on a large flat stone right up against the fire pit, the already heated rock made a soft sizzling sound. Their dining area was prepared and all ready for Mya's return. The candles were lazily flickering from their places around the cave and in two little clusters by the entrance, to act as a means of drawing her in to the larger surprise inside. He took several steps back and looked around. Everything was looking great. The only things left to accomplish were to finish the meat and have Mya come back for her treat. Valentine smiled and nodded at his handiwork before he set himself to getting rid of a majority of the dust on the cool stone floor, using his flight feathers to brush it outside without whipping some up and getting dust on his labor of love.
"Well, Rajani? Rowen? Could you help me gather these?" Glancing towards the familiars hovering near the entrance, she motioned them forwards with a flick of her head; then, the work began. The dragoness poured over a chunk of sandstone, using her talons to tear the soft rock and to clear the way to whatever may be hidden underneath... And what was hidden underneath was a surprise indeed. Curled up in the hidden perch was a tiny salamander, a crest of flames flickering on its back. It stirred, blinked open large eyes and glanced up at stare at the unknown dragon...and the owl that soon fluttered over to see what had been found.
Rajani shifted to her corporeal form and began digging around for chunks of the desired stone. The chupacabra scarcely noticed that something had drawn the owl and the dragoness' attention when a few flickering shadows drew her attention. She looked over and shuffled closer, a few smaller chunks of salt stone in one of her front paws. A fiery salamander was looking up at Mya. Raj made a muted hiss of inquisitive interest at the little thing as she had never seen one in person before. She glanced up at Mya. "Lady Mya, are you going to keep it? It seems to have taken a fancy to you." Even her telepathic voice was occasionally punctuated with soft hisses and lingering 's' sounds. Back at the cave, everything was falling into place. The meat was just about done, the floor was cleared, the lights were all lit, and the decorations were all in place. All that was left was for Mya to return home.
"...........Yes." A warm smile punctuated the words. This was all the little creature needed to jump, climb up and curl up on Mya's head. Smiling truly for the first that day, Mya turned towards her other companions. "Well...let's finish what we needed to do and head back. Valentine is probably waiting."
Rajani watched the little salamander shimmy its way up to curl up on the dragoness’ head. She nodded at her words. “Probably so.” With that, she set herself to scrounging up any little salt stones she could uncover. Before long she had gathered up a few more medium sized stones and sort of hopped over to Mya’s side to show her all what she had gathered.
Rowen and Mya had had a bit of luck themselves. With the combined salt stones, they had a decent little collection that would help preserve food back at the cave. Mya smiled at their handiwork and gave a tiny dip of her head to salute the familiars for their job well done. “Great job, you two. Let’s head on home. I’m sure Valentine is waiting for us. I’ll carry a majority of the stones so you two can fly without any problems.” After shuffling around the stones, Mya held them securely in her front hands. “Let’s go home.” With a few strong beats of her wings the dragoness was airborne, the familiars following closely on her tail. Shortly, the clearing around their den site came into view and the tiny flickering candle flames in the cave’s entryway immediately caught Mya’s attention.
Valentine emerged from the cave at hearing the wing beats of his mate, a big smile settled on his features. “Welcome back, my love. I see you were successful in your search. I was beginning to think that you wouldn’t be back in time for your surprise.” His head was held high and his wings were folded neatly on his back. The smells of the carefully prepared meat wafted on the gentle winds that rose up to greet the returning trio.
Mya gasped softly and felt her heart flutter. She landed next to her Valentine and looked around the interior of their cave. There was silk drapery swaying softly in the small breeze that occasionally blew through the cave. The fire in the fire pit crackled with hues of amber and red, casting an inviting glow throughout the den. The scent of the meal was just about enough to make her mouth water. Mya turned to her mate and ran the side of her muzzle along his. “Oh, Valentine, this is all so wonderful! You did all of this while we were out?” The two familiars had landed themselves. Rowen made a beeline to his new perch and Rajani skirted along the wall to hide away in a dark crevice of the wall to leave the two Painters to have their alone time.
The male laughed softly. “Yes. You seemed a little out of sorts when Raj and I got back so I figured I was overdue to do something amazing for you. After all, you put up with me so you definitely deserve it. Come on. Let’s eat while everything is still warm.” It was then that Valentine noticed the flickering salamander that was peering up at him from Mya’s shoulder. His bright green eyes shifted to his mate, a hint of curious amusement evident on his face. “I take it that we’re keeping it?” He chuckled. “Well, there’s always room here for more.”
The dragoness sighed softly, a vibrant smile causing her to practically glow. “Oh, thank you so much. And, yes, we are keeping it. We sort of clicked.” She offered a rather sheepish chuckle. “But we can talk about this later. Let’s get this wonderful dinner started.” Mya padded over to where Valentine had everything set up and sat down, using her tail to pat the ground next to her in a ‘come here’ sort of manner.
Valentine strode after her and took his seat at her side. The pair soon had eaten their share of the meal, leaving the unseasoned portions out for their waiting familiars. “Let’s go curl up by the fire,” he chimed with a smile as he rose, relishing the full belly feeling and the lighter than air feeling he often got when he spent time with his mate. He moved over to the fire and settled down in the radiant heat of the blaze. The male gazed to his mate and lifted a wing, inviting her to come to lay at his side.
Mya smiled and moved to meet her love, settling down beneath his wing and nestled against his side. She loved her protective warrior love and thought his scars added to his unique charm. Her latest familiar has settled under her own wings so as to not be inadvertently brushed off by the male. “This was an amazing surprise. Thank you, love. I enjoyed dinner. I didn’t expect it.”
“You’re very welcome, Mya. I enjoyed preparing it for you. Now, do you feeling like sharing what was on your mind earlier? I could tell that you were feeling down about something. I’ve known you long enough to know when you lie, so that doesn’t work on me.” Valentine chuckled and licked her cheek.
Mya sort of grinned and looked down at her paws. “Alright.. I’ll tell you what I was thinking.” She took a deep breath and began. “It could be just me, but lately our cave seems to be sort of empty. I mean, I know we reside here and we’re very happy, but I just feel like we’re missing something. Valentine, I’d like to start a family with you. No, I’d love to. What do you say?” She gazed at him hopefully, secretly holding her breath for his answer, unsure of how he would react to her thoughts.
Valentine listened without a word, blinking a little surprised. His slightly raised feathery mane showcased his surprised, but after a moment a slow, warm smile melted across his face. “Is that what was bothering you? Mya, you didn’t have to fret over that.” He gave a relieved laugh, having been a little worried that she was feeling ill or something bad had happened. “I’ve been thinking about that too. I would love to start a family with you. I agree. I think it would make this place feel more like a permanent home.”
The dragoness radiated happiness at her mate’s answer. “Oh, Valentine! That makes me so glad to hear you say that.” She gave a laugh of her own, savoring the joy of the moment and the love that bound the two Painters together.

Father: Seiki Full DetailFather's RPer: Zingling Mother: Zephyiote Full DetailMother's RPer: Tyia47 Modifiers: In the process of acquiring a corn baby if that counts. (Admin: It was ordered after the contest was started, so it does NOT count. Sorry) RP leading into this: [ X ] RP response to this: [ X ] RP response: Contest Entry Crash! Brush, leaves, and earth alike were thrown in frenzy, as a pair of painters barreled out of the jungle. Though of different species, their joy was the same. For the same frenzied, exuberant smiles split their faces. The jungle race was about to come to an end. Seiki had ever so carefully planned it that way. But Zephyiote was unaware. So when they came to the cliff edge, jutting out over Seiki's crystal blue river, he was able to leap off the edge gracefully, laughing, and enjoying himself. "I hope you are ready for this Missy!" Zephyiote, however, was not. Now, she tried hard to be graceful. If she could not be of beautiful appearance, then she would try hard to at least be beautiful in movement. But she'd been trying to catch Seiki, and he'd had a head start! So when the ledge came up unexpectedly, Zephyiote dug her claws into the ground, but to no avail. Momentum kept her going. It was one very confused, shrieking grey painter that tumbled over the edge. Splash! To say she made a wave was an understatement. Her splash was practically a tsunami. When she surfaced, her mane was dripping, her feathers looking quite strange now that they were weighed down with water. Her expression was one of pure bewilderment; eyes round, and mouth slightly agape, forming a little 'o'. Regaining her composure quickly, she shook her head, dislodging a great deal of water from her mane in the process. "I must admit Seiki, you got me there!" Seiki's grin only widened. What a perfect place to spend the day with a friend. No one else knew of his hideaway. But it was a sign of friendship and trust, that he would share his most precious treasure with her. I hope you find this place as amazing as I do He paddled towards her, until she was close enough to touch, were he only to extend a hand. But he knew better. Still...he couldn't help but note how much more open she was being now. "It seems Miss Zephyiote has finally come out of her shell!" When in doubt or at a loss for words, a playful or rude gesture could often be found to suffice, Zephyiote discovered. So she stuck her tongue out at him, and promptly began swimming in circles around her companion. "Next time I see that tongue...I might bite it!" Seiki teased, sticking his own tongue out in retaliation. Zephyiote's eyes narrowed and she looked thoughtfully. Such kindness was practically unknown to her. She had a few friends to be sure. Whom she wouldn't trade for the world, But Seiki was...different. What was that funny feeling she got when she looked up to find their eyes meet? Or to see him smile at her? It is nothing. He is just being nice to me is all... but then, why did that conclusion make her so sad? Seiki watched her and shivered, only partially from the cold along with something unknown. This was...special. It felt so strange, but it was...right. Clearing his head, it seemed to him that words would be most right at the moment, when he was at a loss for action. "This is my favorite place in the whole jungle. On the other side of the river my den and my dire owl spirit, Nora, reside. Here we laughed and played together, ignoring all the sadness that could have been dwelled upon and blossoming into what we are today. Maybe you can rebirth from all your pain here as I once did.” He knew Zephyiote's past was a painful topic for her. But...didn't they have that in common? But he had escaped from the demons that plagued him. And found refuge here, in the heart of this wilderness. Found sanctuary in the most unlikely of places. It had been his own hatching ground for a new way of life. Perhaps it had been more than coincidence that he had met her? Perhaps it was meant to be that he brought her here, to share with her the acceptance and tranquility that he himself had stumbled upon? If Zephyiote was confused before...it was nothing compared to now. Birth...she...couldn't remember hers. She had no memory dating more than seven years ago...her own origins...it had been her quest for as long as she could remember to discover where she came from. Was that obsolete now? Was Seiki offering her a chance at something new? Giving her the chance to let go, and move onto something else? To start a new chapter of her life? How could he say something like that, and have it touch her so deeply. How did he seem to know so much about her, even though they had really just met? Her mouth opened, as she started to ask a question, but it was too late. Seiki snapped out of his own thinking. He didn't want to dwell on it. He had a guest. Now was not the time for idle reflection and thought. He had to be a good host! With a flick of his tail, he slipped under the water. Zephyiote felt herself start to panic. Seiki was gone! Abandoning her! Just like so many others! But...this hurt more than all those other times. This...this touched something deep. He was important, he meant something to her. Why? It didn't make any sense. There was an aching longing her heart. Like an arrow rooted deep inside. And it twisted and panged and ate her up, until all she could do was hope and pray to see his face and hear his voice once more. Her fears of abandonment were unfounded. Had Seiki known of her insecurity, he would have taken her down with him. He didn't want to see this wonderful creature suffer. He...cared about her. But why? It seemed silly, didn't it? For all he knew...she already had a lover. And they were two different species. But wait...why were his thoughts on such a topic in the first place! Snap out of it Seiki! It didn't take long to locate the objective of his dive. The glitter of gold was obvious, even this deep down in the water. The whole riverbed was littered with the stuff. It would be easy pickings for any painter who had a liking for the stuff. It really was a treasure trove. And that was why he guarded his secret so carefully. For fear his haven would be exploited for its monetary things. But...Zephyiote was trustworthy, right? She had to be. It wasn't simple choice that led him to bring her here. He was sure of it now. It was fate. Plain and simple. He scooped up a handful of the shiny stuff, kicking off the bottom of the pool, and bursting out of the water, still smiling, and proffering the handful of goods to his...'friend'. Zephyiote's eyes went huge, staring in disbelief at the treasure Seiki held, and the fact that he was giving it so willingly to her. "Where? How did you?" her eyes darted about, until she stared hard at the water, and jumped in shock. The whole river! There was gold all along the bottom! She looked back up at him, at a loss for words. She was barely conscious of the hand that received the gold from him, cradling it against her chest. For those acceptances...that trust that he placed in her...made this gold worth more than all the rest in the river combined. She couldn't fathom what she had done to deserve this. "It is...amazing..." she whispered, staring at her reflection in the glass surface of the water, broken by nary a ripple. And it was...the strangest thing. For, when she stared at herself here, in this eden...she felt almost...beautiful. Lush red stripes, sliding over a sleek silvery grey hide. Her mane tousled and mussed with water, her horns, a sparkling violet, each bead of water catching a miniature rainbow. And her eyes...brilliant as topaz, as blindingly brilliant as the sun on a summer's eve. What was so wrong with that? What was the big deal about these...differences? Why pretend to be something she didn't feel like? Why ignore the things she saw in herself? Become the change you want to see in the world... She clenched her free hand into a fist, and smiled softly at Seiki, that previous raging inner fire, not quite extinguished, but, rather...softened...warming, comforting, rather than burning and devouring. She stuck her tongue out at Seiki again, trying not to be too serious. Seiki was unable to identify it, but, rather, he felt a change in this newest and most beautiful friendship. Her smile...softer, almost. That sadness in her eyes...not gone, but...understood. He stared at her, watching the change whirl like a storm in those eyes. His heart ached. But...not in a necessarily bad way. Maybe he was being silly. Maybe he was taking too big a risk. But it was hardly in his power to help it. The words danced on his tongue. Longing to be let out, to try and explain the way he felt, the way her mere presence drove him crazy. The way she laughed and ran, the way she pretended to be tough, but deep inside, he could see that child-like vulnerability. He leaned forward, licking her cheek, a sweet little kiss. "I know I said I would bite your tongue as punishment, but...I liked that better" Zephyiote nearly dropped her gold. Underneath her scales, she was sure she was blushing like mad. It was so unfair! Who decided that this brilliant, starry Adonis should have such control over her! Did he know how crazy he drove her? Wrapping those velvet words around her. His touch silk when he chanced to brush her. She shuddered down the length of her spine, feeling a little weak all of a sudden. Not something she was hoping to admit. But how could she get away from this?!? She couldn't stand this torture, stuck here in Limbo, torture and bliss. "Zephyiote I lo- "I am hungry!" the femme declared. Masking over whatever it was Seiki had said. No doubt words to drive her crazy. Seiki felt a little twinge. A flutter of pain. Had she not heard him? Or was she trying to ignore his advances. What if...she wanted to get away from him? He felt himself go cold. Oh no! What had he done? He tried to reassure himself as he paddled to shore. Tried to reassure himself as she followed. Maybe she was just being nice? Maybe she was just trying not to hurt his feelings. He felt a sudden weight in his step that he hadn't noticed before that moment. Never before had he felt so earthbound. But she hadn't left! Not yet. Maybe he still had a chance? Just maybe... Zephyiote had never felt so self conscious, walking side-by-side with Seiki. Every step was like an eternity. The soft crinkle of new grass underfoot, of cool mud between her toes, of the very light breeze pulling at her hair, stripping it of the remaining water it tried so hard to retain. They stopped at a Citrus tree, and Seiki turned to her, his eyes boring into hers. Questioning. Begging. Willing her to understand something. But she didn't know! She couldn't! She was confused as it was. She reared up, plucking one of the fruits between her teeth, lowering herself again, and offering some to Seiki, still from her mouth; her thoughts so jumbled, she didn't really realize what she was doing. Seiki watched as she reared up, convinced she was the epitome of beauty and grace as she pulled a delicacy from the tree ever so gently, and offered it to him. Seiki froze for a minute. What..what was she doing? She offered it to him so happily, so intimately, and...With a smile? Maybe...maybe she wasn't playing him for a fool. This could be his chance! But he was so confused...and so many things could go wrong...He took a generous bite of the offering, blushing as he felt their lips brush. And for a moment...he thought he saw a reaction on Zephyiote's face too? A flicker of a smile? Of hope? Of...dare he say it, love? This was the nudge he needed. He cleared his throat, trying his hardest to maintain eye-contact the entire time, trying to keep his voice level. "I-I don’t know why, but... I feel strange around you. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the feeling and wish to keep it around me all the time, but… I don’t understand it. It… well… I think I am attracted to you. I keep getting this strange feeling, like, I want to make sure everything is alright and keep you safe." Here he faltered, gathering his thoughts. Zephyiote's eyes were as round as pearls, and...Accepting? Adoring? He would try his hardest to continue! "Strange huh… We barely know each other and yet I am still attracted to you. I guess...I just mean to say...I-I...uh..." Zephyiote was in disbelief. Was this...a dream? This was... amazing. Too good to be true! Life was never this good to her. Always she was suffering and hurting. Was she really being offered this chance...this...beginning? Hesitantly, she swallowed the rest of the fruit, not noticing its taste. For all she could recall, it tasted of watermelon. Hesitantly, carefully, she leaned in, resting her head against his, nuzzling her cheek against him. Enjoying his feel, his smell, his warmth. She closed her eyes, and smiled softly, not able to ever recall feeling so peaceful. "It is okay Seiki...I...love you too..."

Father: (Hyde's cert seems to have been deleted. D: ) Father's RPer: Zactura Mother: (Sunset, not certed yet) Mother's RPer: Zactura. I'll be rping her in this, though Mariester owns her. (Got her permission, too.) Modifiers: Nope RP response: Hyde sunned himself wearily on one of the many time-worn red rocks in the canyon, his dark khaki scales glinting softly in the golden light. White eyes leered lazily as he scanned the surrounding area, searching for something, anything, to shake off this boredom and lethargy. His tail swished against the rough surface of the rock, creating a soft rasping sound that echoed just barely in the practically empty area of the canyon. Hyde watched the other dragons fly in majestic courtship patterns far away from him, sighing as their lithe forms cut through the sky with amazing grace. It was a day for wooing your love, and once again, Hyde had none. More than once he had been rejected, some giving him a slight disgusted look. Probably because of his markings, those accursed things that made him look sewn together from a variety of parts and coated in tan paint. Personally, he thought they were fine, but according to more than a few pretty females, they were grotesque. He was always too plain, too muted for any of the beautiful females. Heck, even the ones that were just one straight color rejected him. But alas, it seemed today was just another courtship day gone wrong. He had already tried to initiate a flight with four females, each of which flippantly tossed him aside for the next prettier, brighter male. Hyde sighed again, adjusting his wings to be more comfortable.Sunset watched the same courtship dances from her own rock, far above Hyde's. Her vivid colors would have surely gotten at least one male interested, if not captivated, but again, no luck. Would she ever obtain a male to call her own, at least for one flight? No, nobody ever thought to try Sunset. It was always with the other females. She sighed with longing as she gazed with honey-golden eyes at the beautiful spirals, the graceful turns, the overall entirely awe-inspiring dances being performed. She watched, and she knew that this day would never be her chance to experience that flight, that endless freedom with an ardent male swooping and darting right besides her. Sunset glanced off the edge of her rock, scanning below for maybe even a chance at finding a male to fly with, just this once. After a minute or two, she shook her head, and was just about to go back to watching the skydances when she saw a flicker of motion, almost unnoticeable. Sunset scrutinized the spot, catching sight of a rather handsome, if not plain, tan male sunning himself by the trickling riverbank, one paw dangling in the crystalline waters. Who was this? This one, who was just as alone as her? Sunset's heart fluttered as she saw him, and somewhere up there she imagined a tiny aviadracus child, giggling as it flew away after shooting her head-on with an arrow of love from a bow it could barely use. Sunset realized that this male was her best chance to dance today, and so, she spread glorious wings and soared down to the rock below, golden eyes flickering and dancing with a happy light.Hyde glanced up as soon as he heard the sound of wings, only to see a beautiful wyvern female come fluttering down at him. He blinked a bit as she drew nearer, his mind full of thoughts. He was wondering what she wanted with him, why she was coming, why she didn’t have a partner, and all sorts of other things. Hyde sat up, curling his tail around his feet as he stared, mouth agape slightly. He gulped, recovering from the initial shock of the female’s sudden appearance.
“Er, miss, not to be rude, but shouldn’t you be with your male?” Hyde asked, being the gentleman he always was. He fluttered his wings softly, trying to hide his disappointment at not noticing this lovely female first. She probably had a partner anyway, and even if she didn’t, he knew he had no chance with her. She was just too….everything. She was bright; she was vivid and full of the colors of the sunset. Sunset laughed, the clear sound ringing about the canyon. She shook her head at the male’s suggestion, that she be with her male. She had none! But well, Sunset figured that she at least should say something, but the words she had prepared had left her, and now she was completely and utterly unprepared for this.
“I have no male to fly with this day. And I saw you down here, so I wondered….maybe we could fly together?” Sunset paused. “That is, if you want to. My name is Sunset, in any case.”Hyde was completely taken aback by Sunset’s words. His heart soared; for once, for once he had found somebody! Another soul, equally rejected, it seemed, had come to him and offered him her love! What was he to do, deny her? No, that would be cruel! He knew how horrible the pain of rejection was, and when there was another such as he here, baring her heart before him, who was he to plunge a dagger into it? Hyde could do nothing but a smile, the grin slowly crossing his face.
“My name is Hyde, and I would be absolutely honored to be your partner.”Sunset’s fears of rejection by this male were dashed to smithereens as she saw him nod. Her own face mimicked the breathless grin that Hyde wore. Her heart danced in her chest, and her mind sang with promise. She took wing, her dance weaving around in the air above Hyde before soaring a bit away, tempting him to come closer.Hyde soared upwards with a leap from his rock, stitched wings outstretched. He could feel the wind across his face, and he spiraled around Sunset. Soon they were twisting together in the sky in a majestic dance that rivaled the ones of the ornate and gaudy Painters some ways away, utterly free.It was time to fly.

Father: Father's RPer: Tuatha De Mother: Mother's RPer: Holy Blasphemy Modifiers: None RP responce: Dawn came to the scrub forest like Cupid's wings, the light tinted in rose and pale gold as it crept from the horizon to touch the world lightly. Mimicgryphs stirred in the treetops, then lifted their voices into the morning song that was older than history. As the light strengthened, every delicate dewdrop turned into a minature prism, countless tiny, scintillating rainbows edging everything in light and wonder. It was the kind of morning that was made for falling in love.
In other words, it was like every other morning in the scrub forest. And like every other morning, Reynardine, busy warming himself by taking in the first light, was cheerfully oblivious. The dark-colored P'an-lun lay coiled in lazy loops atop a convenient stone outcropping, basking like a snake. Only the occasional twitch of his tail, and the slight glitter of awareness in eyes that seemed permanently slitted shut, indicated that he wasn't sound asleep. And indeed, if it weren't for the sun in his eyes, he probably would have just stayed where he was. But perhaps that nagging light served as an arrow to Rey, stinging him into action. Certainly, he would never have spotted her without it.
As the P'an-lun took to the air in slow spirals, he chanced to see a flash of blue feathers amidst the scrub. Even as he noticed this, the branches shivered slightly and gave way, revealing the most stunning Aviadracus he had ever seen. Such color! Such elegance! A fetching pattern of white on blue, fringed with black, and adorned with a rather unique ornament tucked behind one feathered 'ear'... She moved with grace, deliberation. In short, perfection.
A casual observer would have been amazed at the sudden turn of speed that Reynardine, not usually a swift flier, could put on with the right incentive. Where nature had no power to move him, it seemed a pretty young lady could lend an enviable burst of energy. Still, he was careful not to appear too eager -- it didn't seem like she had noticed him yet, so he had time to get close, then catch his breath for an instant before approaching at a more casual, nonchalant pace. As if this were no more than a chance crossing of paths, a friendly "good morning" between strangers or new acquaintances.
"Pardon me, my lady..." Reynardine gauged a reasonably polite distance, where he could be heard quite well without having to raise his voice but he wouldn't appear to be invading her personal space, then landed in front of her and slightly to the side. "Good morning! My name is Reynardine. And now that I've introduced myself, I, ah, hope you'll forgive my forwardness..." Here the calculated tilt and dip of his head, the bashful smile. Oh, he'd refined this to an art form: play the shy boy, just a bit, to drop their guard before you launch your first ploy. "But you see, I was just watching the sunrise --" a blatant lie, but a harmless one -- "and I couldn't help but be distracted."
"And seeing as it's a day of celebration of love -- well, it just wouldn't be right for me to pass by without telling you how lovely you are." Coming on strong? But of course. That was the beauty of the day, it was the one time of the year he could get away with a line like that.
Besides, who didn't like compliments?
~*~ Rays of soft, hazy light filtered trough the trees, illuminating the forest floor with a faint glow. Creatures of every sort rose to greet the morning, their chatter and songs slowly building in size and volume. The excited animals, faint breeze, rustling branches, and babbling stream all seemed to be waiting, to be looking forward to something with eager anticipation.
Dwelling within the thrumming Scrub Forest was a female Aviadracus. Single and kinless, she nevertheless seemed to enjoy her somewhat solitary life; most days, at least. On this day, a day of promise and love, the Aviadracus was not pleased. She was not pleased to be woken so early by her familiars, nor was she pleased when her ears were assaulted with a chorus of love songs when she ventured out of her cave.
The Aviadracus, Sayuri, had had an unusual upbringing. Her mother, a beautiful but delicate Aviadracus, had raised her and her sisters by herself. She taught them that love was not a necessary part of life, and that more often then not love simply wasn’t worth it. Sayuri believed her mother and studiously avoided anything more then mere flirting. With practice she became graceful, polite, poised, patient, and well practiced in driving males wild, yet rarely associated with them beyond business or necessity.
The first time Sayuri had met Grendel’s mate and children she had felt a peculiar pang in her chest. After that, every time she saw the couple – or any loving couple, for that matter – the pang felt stronger, eventually turning into a constant ache. She was unable to discern what the ache truly was, but knew that it was somehow associated with love, further alienating her from it.
Casting a weary eye about the trees around her cave, Sayuri decided that perhaps a walk would help to take her mind off the meaning of the day. Her Dire Owl Chiyo wisely stayed behind, so only Mineko, a quiet Pygmy Panda, accompanied her. Sayuri was later grateful that she decided to allow Mineko to walk with her.
After several minutes of walking and brooding, a gentle head butt from Mineko drew her from her thoughts. Looking in the direction that the small bear pointed, Sayuri caught her first glance of the blue P’an-Lun making his descent. Perhaps it was the fact that she had yet to eat, perhaps it was the heat, but her heart fluttered strangely in her chest when she saw the incoming male.
Years of training kicked in and she quickly suppressed her irritation. Composing herself, she sat down and watched as the P’an-Lun landed. She took a moment to observe him and quickly became fascinated. Sayuri had an eye for fine goods and she could tell that his coat was well made. It was not, however, his coat that truly fascinated her: it was his tail. His tail was fluffy! She had the sudden desire to feel the male’s tail, a desire she squashed.
She was quiet while he introduced himself, watching him with half-hooded eyes. He was well mannered, and yet his straight-forwardness was rather refreshing. Sayuri would later blame in on the heat, claiming it had affected her mental state, yet for the first time she believed that she was truly attracted to another Painter. Giggling slightly at male’s last statement, she took his longer pause to introduce herself.
“ A pleasure to meet you indeed, Reynardine. A girl is always please to be complimented, though I daresay you exaggerate; you are far more fetching then I.”
Sayuri always played to males’ egos, but for once her words were sincere. Maybe, just this one time, she would allow herself to forget her past and have a companion.
~*~ Reynardine couldn't help but preen a little at the compliment, fluffing his tail a bit and shifting it to a position of best effect. Vain? Him? Guilty as charged. But it was something he took pride in; it took effort, after all, to keep the sheen and volume of his tail fur, to keep that white coat clean and in good repair. Perhaps some males would cheerfully drag themselves through the Jungles of Sleep to the Western Island and back, no doubt heedless of the damage done to their appearance. But as far as he was concerned, they could keep their adventures.
"Ah, you are gracious," he murmured with a semblance of modesty. "But I am just a humble wandering soul."
Which was true. While Reynardine had at times tried to locate the temples where most of his kind resided, he was far too easily distracted to make any serious effort, and far too gregarious to make the attempt without a companion to keep him company. No doubt if he spent too long by himself, he'd be bored out of his skull and talking to himself just to relieve the silence in no time. Overall, the path of least resistance was simply to travel the island at his leisure, actively seeking out company where he knew other Painters would reside. Not the best lifestyle, perhaps, but it suited him. (Plus an added bonus -- if he ever offended a lady with a too-forward compliment, he could simply apologize and leave. No harm done.)
It wasn't that he'd never considered settling down. He had, especially when he met a particularly wonderful individual. But inevitably, once the initial challenge was over, the charm wore off. He would still put on that same roguish smile day in and day out, but the mask would begin to become a chore to keep up, instead of a game. Besides, what would he do? Take a mate? Have children? While admittedly the idea of a pack of tiny Reynardines appealed to his ego on some fundamental level, it just sounded dull. Maybe if he could find someone who could keep his interest, someone refreshing... But that was just a fancy.
Why was he thinking about this now? He had a pretty girl to charm. Back to business.
She hadn't rebuffed him initially, which was always a good sign. And he appreciated it when a lady accepted a compliment graciously -- he always meant his compliments sincerely, no matter how calculated the delivery might be. There was something about her demeanor that seemed a bit -- distant? No, that wasn't quite it... Careful? Perhaps. But it wasn't a bad thing. Goodness, she even had a pretty giggle. This one was really a catch, wasn't she?
"Now, what brings you out for a stroll on a morning such as this one, my fair..." A pause, and a quizzical tilt of his head, as he realized he still didn't know how to address her. "Ah, may I be so bold as to ask your name?"
~*~ Sayuri’s eyes were irresistibly drawn to the movement of the fluffy tail and she had to force herself to look away. Growing up she had had few luxuries – indeed, she had sometimes lacked necessities – and had developed a fascination for certain things, such as fur and silk. Occasionally a smitten male would give her tokens of his affection, and of all the things she had acquired she best loved the pieces of fur and strips of silk she had been given; they made for a delightfully comfortable nest.
Reynardine seemed to be different, more like the males she had regularly entertained in her younger years. Most males that Sayuri encountered these days ignored her, or expected her to “put out” – that’s what her human called. Perhaps she was past her prime, but being an escort and entertainer was no longer as profitable for her as it once had been. The lack of business had her considering what else she could do with her skills; the possibilities, sadly, seemed small.
Truthfully, Reynardine almost seemed too good to be true. As much as she longed to be able to be honest, or at least be able to relive a bit of her bygone years, Sayuri couldn’t help but feel a tad wary. She didn’t want to get her hopes up, only to have them dashed.
“ You certainly may. My name is Sayuri, and I live near these here.” Now came the tricky part. She was well aware that many Painters enjoyed this “special” day and she did not want to risk offending the other Painter, but neither did she wish to lie. “ I was restless when I awoke and decided to take a walk; a fortunate decision, on my part.”

Father: Father's RPer: Alanna the Pirate Queen Mother: Mother's RPer: Pippi18848 Modifiers: N/A RP response: Previous Rp: Link- Status: Continuing/Close to Finish (first meeting, RP response is a couple days later) Love Story... Gabriel flew in lazy circles above Crater Lake, enjoying the feeling of the sun on his fur. He had taken off his robe for the time being, exposing his blindingly bright white body, tinged with yellow. His hair was pulled back into a tight bun, keeping it out of his eyes. As he continued to fly about, the sun grew hotter and hotter on his skin. Soon, the pleasant warmth became a sweltering heat the weighed hi wings down and made him feel immensely heavier than usual. At one point, Gabriel could take the heat no long and folded his in wings, dropping hard and fast into the water below like an arrow loosed from a bow.
Seraphina had been flying in the sweltering skies. Ever since coming across the ever graceful Gabriel she had been out flying, hoping to come across others. The heat didn't bother her much but she was beginning to think that it was time for a break down on the ground when she caught a glimpse of the glittering water in the distance. She would go there for her rest! Flying faster towards the water, she couldn't help but notice a small figure in the distance, that soon divebombed into the water, making such a splash that even at the distance she was at could see it. She couldn't help but wonder who it was that was at the beautiful lake. Perhaps it would be someone new!
Gabriel streamlined his body and shot into the water with a splash. With the speed he had again, Gabriel was able to glide through the water for a moment before thrusting his wings up powerfully and emerging from the water once more. Just as he had gracefully slid into the water, Gabriel shot out of it and pumped his wings a couple more times to gain a little bit of altitude. His flight was shaky for only a couple moments, due to the weight of the water in his now soaking fur and feather, but the wet feeling was liberating. Gabriel was glad he did not have his robe one or his movement would have been even further inhibited. Gabriel shook himself out slightly, and flew down low once more. This time, instead of flying directly into the water, Gabriel glided over it and dipped his paw into the cool lake on occasion, enjoying the spray it created.
Was it? It couldn't be! This amazing creature couldn't possibly be the Gabriel that she knew! He wasn't wearing his coat! Seraphina paused in mid-flight a ways away, to watch and see if it really was Gabriel. If it was, what would she do? She didn't want to seem like she was following him. Granted she was excited to see him but she didn't want to tell him either that she had found no one else. Oh what to do what to do?
Gabriel chuckled and whistled a summons, hoping his familiar's would hear him where ever they were. Those two preferred not to get wet, but Gabriel was so lonesome! The pretty girls around the cove where usually merdac's and... well... merdac's were just different. He couldn't REALLY spend time with them. With a dismissive shrug, Gabriel flipped over onto his back continuing his lazy circling, but this time enjoying the spray his tail created on his wings. The angelic Sandpaint still hadn't noticed Seraphina's presence since she was so far away, so he just continued on in his relaxed manner. Within a minute or two, Gabriel spotted the two darting figures of Maestro and Lillith, his coocoon fairies, fluttering over head. He waved and laughed, "Oh you two! Why don't you ever like swimming with me?!"
Seraphina flew a little closer, not sure yet if she wanted to be noticed by the one she was now almost positive was Gabriel after seeing the two fairies fly to him. Perhaps if she tried to fly around him maybe he wouldn't notice her! And so she started flying quickly but silently and prayed that he kept his attention more focused on the faeries and the water than what was around him. As she flew, her mind raced with excuses that she could use should he happen to spot her, and all of them sounded ridiculous.
Gabriel sighed as his fairies continued to avoid the water, he knew no matter how much he coaxed them, they would not come any closer. Then, suddenly, movement farther above the edge of the crater caught Gabriel's eye. Was is a pretty female?.... come to shatter the boredom that filled his life as of late. Gabriel strained his eyes as much as he could until he could just make out the figure flying so high above him. When he could finally see who it was, Gabriel blinked in surprise and accidently swooped down too low and flopped back first into the water. With an annoyed cry, Gabriel pushed himself back out of the water and shook out his fur, not really enjoying his unexpected dip. He the smiled and began to fly in his lazy circles, but this time towards the female he had classified as the beautiful lady, Seraphina. "Yoohoo, mon cherie!" Gabriel cried out and waved a paw at Seraphina, "How I have longed to lay my eyes upon your beauty once more... and here you are... my life's wish has come true..."
She had be spotted! Seraphina knew she had been spotted when she heard the second splash and his yelp. She closed her eyes and gave a gentle sigh, her face turning red as she paused in mid-air. Looking down at Gabriel, she smiled and waved back. "Hello again Gabriel, I didn't see you there." Her wings flapped gently as she waited for the winged male to circle closer. "My beauty? I still say I am not what you think I am. Though I'm glad I was able to help make a wish of yours true."
Gabriel quirked an eyebrow and rolled his eyes, "And I still say you are ridiculous. I swear my dear, by the end of all this, I WILL get rid of those self-confidence issues of yours... However..." He then smiled and winked at Seraphina flirtatiously before continuing, "It is so cute seeing you blush whenever I compliment you..." Gabriel circled ever closer to Seraphina, hoping to be close enough to stare into her beautiful eyes once more. She really was a jewel in the rough, a piece of eye candy like no other... with a cute little personality to boot!
"I don't blush!" Seraphina tried to argue, knowing full well she had already lost as she felt her face burning from a heat that wasn't from the sun. Oh why couldn't she be around him without her face turning red? She might as well paint her face red so it would red permenantly. "I don't blush, I never blush, and I never have blushed before." She knew it was a hopeless argument but if it got him off the topic of her being supposedly beautiful she was willing to argue to the death for it. The winged mare didn't think she had self-confidence issues, she thought she was perfectly fine.
Gabriel's lip quivered and he put on his saddest puppy dog face possible, "Oh, pardon me, mon cherie... I meant no offense..." He drooped his tail and wings in the spitting image of utter rejection, "Even though I do not think blushing is a bad thing, because for me it shows that you are flattered... if you do not think blushing is a good thing... than I shall not mention it any longer..." Gabriel sniffled and turned away slightly with the back of his hand placed against his forehead, feigning tragedy. He then motioned slightly to his coocoon fairies, who were no fluttering near by, and, on que, Maestro pulled out a miniature violin and played a very sad and dejected song. After the song started Gabriel finished his tragic speech by saying, "I have angered the most beautiful and gracious being on the planet... I... do not... deserve... to live..." And with that, Gabriel snapped his wings shut once more and began to fall through the air, peeking over at Seraphina, wondering what she would say or do next...
"No I didn't mean to upset you!" Seraphina now felt so horrible for upset this godlike creature. Just as she was about to say something more, the music started and then next thing she knew, Gabriel was falling through the air. If he died because of her she knew that she'd end up killing herself. "No no no no no no no no no! This can't be happening to me!" She cried out as she made a split second decision to dive down after him. Having never done such a thing before she knew the outcome wouldn't be good. Diving down, she folded back her wings and hoped that she didn't die herself, or drown if she landed in the lake.
Gabriel's eyes opened wide as Seraphina decidedly began to drop like a stone right after him. He hadn't expected her to act so rashly! They were so high in the air, if she didn't dive right, she'd hit the water and such a speed.... Gabriel shivered at the thought. Maestro and Lillith shrieked in panic, they didn't want Seraphina to get hurt! Gabriel quickly swerved his flight pattern towards Seraphina and gasped her paws firmly in his. With a slight twitch of his tail, Gabriel leveled himself out and gently pulled Seraphina with him, expertly guiding her out of the gravitational force that was pulling her down. They were mere 60 feet from the lake's surface before they actually started to slow down. Gabriel clung onto Seraphina and pulled her up with him, hoping she would follow. This was NOT how he had planned this entire scenario to pan out..
Seraphina was panicking the whole time she was diving, and had actually closed her eyes tight as she fell. It was either die by hitting the water to hard, or by drowning due to not knowing how to swim. Then she felt Gabriel grab her paws and she matched her movements to his, all while still keeping her eyes shut, knowing full well if she opened them that the tears would fall from her eyes. She was scared, worried, and never ever wanted to do that again!
Gabriel pulled Seraphina up with him and, as soon as they were at a safe height, he stopped ascending. For a moment, he was not sure what to do, but then his sudden panic was washed away by a feeling he could not describe. It was a sort of heart wrenching passion, a feeling that if anything had happened to this jewel of a Painter, the world just wouldn't seem right any more. Gabriel tugged Seraphina into a mid-air embrace, using his own powerful wings to keep both himself and Seraphina airborne. What did she think she was doing?! Didn't she know by now that he was flirt and a joker?! Gabriel stroked Seraphina's fur gently and whispered to her, "Calm down my dear, it is alright. There is no need to fear, not when I am here...."
The winged p'an pressed against him, holding him tight as she struggled to keep calm. She didn't want to break down in tears, and seem weak but a couple tears had already escaped from the tight confines of her tightly closed eyes. Her mouth didn't want to work either and it was clamped shut with the same amount of force her eyelids were doing for the eye-closing. Then her body started to shake, as she tried to forget everything that happened the past few minutes. Even with Gabriel talking to her, she couldn't calm down, no matter how hard she tried.
Gabriel sighed sadly, he couldn't see her this way. It hurt his heart to see Seraphina, sweet Seraphina going through such mental torture. His mind whirled wildly as he thought of a way to make her feel better, a way of distracting her from the panic and pain. Then, an idea struck him, and, without even thinking about the consequences, Gabriel acted. He brought one of his hands under Seraphina's chin and lifted her head up. Then, without giving her even a moments time for any sort of reaction, Gabriel kissed Seraphina softly, humming a sweet note deep in his throat, hoping to get all of her attention on himself and away from the fall.
Her eyes remained shut as Gabriel lifted her head up, but the second he kissed her, her tear filled eyes snapped open in surprise. Her face turning bright red and she almost felt that her whole body was now red. She didn't know how to react, whether to be worried or just love it. Deep down she had wanted him to like her like this but now her mind was in a whirl, between the fall and now the kiss. A few seconds later her eyes closed, accepting what he was doing. Even if by some chance, this was all just a dream.
Gabriel smiled, noting that Seraphina did not fight him. She wanted this, maybe... did he want it? Gabriel could not think on it for long when another wave of passion ran through his body like a jolt of electricity. He has been around, Gabriel has, and he has experienced all sorts of relationships. He was a flirt by instinct, by nature, he couldn't help it. Gabriel knew that as much as he liked Seraphina now, that it would likely not last forever. Then again, the more he held her, the more he inhaled her scent, Gabriel felt as though he were addicted. She was beautiful, she had a heart as gold as her mane, and she had almost risked her life to be with him. The more Gabriel thought about it, the more and more he wanted to be with her for the rest of eternity, just floating there in mid -air, locked in a never ending kiss. Gabriel held the kiss for a little longer and then pulled away gently, feeling oddly winded, as though he had forgotten to breath amongst all that was happening... it was thrilling...
Seraphina was lost in her own world, as the kiss lingered on. Ever since her first encounter with Gabriel, she had wished that just once she could do this, and here she was. As Gabriel pulled away, she took a small breath, her eyes still closed, but this time not in fear. "That wasn't a dream was it?" she very quietly asked, hoping to not break the spell. She didn't want this to end so soon after it had just begun, but she knew it had to end eventually, for she was just herself and no male could ever stay with her for long.
Gabriel chuckled and ran his fingers through Seraphina's fur, a soft, happy thrumming bubbling up from deep in his throat. "The only dream here is you, for reality does not have the ability to retain some one as beautiful as you, my dear..." He smiled gently and clung to her, not wanting to let go of her for even a moment. She was something precious, like a gentle flower one would do anything to protect. Gabriel knew he had some sort of feelings for her but, he wasn't really the type that professed deeper feelings too quickly. With a happy sigh, Gabriel took Seraphina's hand in his and kissed is sweetly before continuing, "How about you and I land in the jungle and go for a little stroll... I think we have had more than enough aerial excitement for one day...."
Seraphina smiled and gave a small nod in agreement to the stroll. "I think that would be nice. The ground would be quite plesant about now." she gave a small laugh as she tried to think back to that dreamlike kiss. For now she was going to enjoy his company, and if he ever left her, well she'll cherish what time she got with him.

It was a hard competition, and two RPs and the couple chemistry within really stood out to me. However, unfortunately, I only have the time and energy to add one of them into long list of To-dos. After much fret and flip flopping, it eventually wore down to me flipping a quarter I keep by my computer three times. Best two our of thee won, and that winning couple for a full breeding by me was, Drum roll please.
Tuatha de and Holy Blasphemy's Reynardine and Sayuri! While their entry was "incomplete", it showed great potential and character, as well proving to be an easy and entertaining read.
I wish the other set I had narrowed it down to, Valentine and Mya, will enter again when we next have a chance -- I hope very much to see this couple get their brood. However, the coinflip simply was not in their favor this valentines day.
