Drake's Character Bio Tales of an Eccentric Admiral
Little background story here
Mini Story! The Finding of a New CaptainA not-so-haughty pirate stepped quietly through the forest. His indigo eyes traced the ground ahead of him as his whiskers were turned down in a slight, thoughtful frown. Many had opposed his title of 'Admiral', pointing out his weaknesses in lacking a ship or crew. Like he was ever going to get a ship into a wildlife reserve... But still, he was dissapointed in himself for failing to find at least one follower. The former pup, Renkai left him long ago, claiming he outgrew Drake's childish 'antics'. Antics? How was he ever to live up to his parents reputations if no one was going to take him seriously? His father, a Pirate Lord, and his mother, the Pirate King! So where did that place him?
Sighing, Drake paused and sat down, his back leaning against the trunk of a tree for support as he brought his forepaws to his temples. "Why is it so hard to find good help these days...?" he muttered to himself.
"Oi!"
Drake blinked down at the muffled exclamation. Lowering himself back to his paws, he turned to see a small, gray otter scrambling out from underneath the root he had just been sitting on.
"No one bloody sits on Flat Sails!" the mini shrieked, waving his hat in Drake's direction before promptly shoving it back on his head. "Who do ye think yer messin' with?" The small otter scowled, dusting his coat off while casting a amber glare at the pirate towering above him.
Drake arched a brow and cocked his head to the side in mock amusement. "Those are some mighty big words comin' from an otter so small." The red-coated otter grinned, crouching down to the mini's level. "Mister... Flat Sails, is it?"
"You shouldn' be underestimatin' yer opponent based on 'is size." Flat Sails gave a small dissaproving flick of his paw before turning to adjust his jabot. "And that's Cap'n Flat Sails, to you. Who are you, with yer featherless hat, to be undermining a cap'n?" He glanced expectantly at Drake.
"Well," Draked mused for a moment. "I'll give you tha' one. But I assure you, Cap'n Flat Sails, that I mean you no harm." The wry grin stretched across his face at the term 'Captain' coming from the small, gray pirate. It seemed unlikely that this little fellow could hold such a title, yet anyone who had resided in the Oasis long enough knew it wasn't impossible. The male strecthed, reaching out and quickly plucking the red feather from Flat Sails' hat. "Th' name's Admiral Drake Barbossa-Swann." He stated simply, twirlng the feather in his paw while inspecting it closely.
Sails snorted. "As if it wasn' hard enough tryin' to pull togheth'r a crew and claim a decent speck 'o territory 'round here without the other bloody pirates takin' their fill... An' now there's an Admiral here to justify 'is claim as well!" The blue-coated captain threw up his forepaws in disbelief. "Well that's all very lovely, Sir Barbossa-Swann," he growled, moving foward in attempts to snatch his feather back from the larger pirate. "But if yer just going to sit here, wastin my time, then I really must be off for more important issues..."
"Now hold up just a moment there, Cap'n." The admiral held the feather just out of the mini otter's reach, chuckling as the stunted pirate jumped up and down with outstretched forepaws in attempts to retrieve the feather. "It seems we're both in a bit of a predicament. While you are in need of territory, I am in need of a captain willing to construct a crew. Perhaps... We could be of use to one another?"
The mini paused just before jumping again. He looked at the other otter closely, considering the offer for a moment. Most captains, or admirals for that matter, would usually not submit to asking another for assistance. Perhaps this Drake fellow was younger than Sails expected. Still, the idea of building a crew sounded easier with the help of another pirate... "What are your terms, Mister Barbossa-Swann...?"
The infamous grin stretched to its full extent as Cap'n Sails considered Drake's proposition. "It's simple, really. While I provide you with the territory and whatever claim you may need, you'll help me arrange a crew. From there, we shall build the greatest fleet this oasis has ever seen!" Drake cleared his throat and brushed the feather over his nose absentmindedly as he received a quizical glace from Flat Sails. "...after we complete the basics, of course."
Sails frowned and took another swipe at Drake's paw in attempts to claim back his feather. "If ye ask me, it sounds like a tyke's dream."
Drake pulled the feather from Sails' reach again. "Ah, but everyone's allowed the luxury of dreaming. What I 'ave in mind is a vision. And I assure you, Captain, the rewards can be great." The pirate brought the red accessory to the mini's eye-level. "So, what say you?"
The blue-coated captain thought carefully, all the while watching the feather. This kid still had alot to learn, yet it seemed he had a good head on his shoulders. If anything, the admiral seemed more like a story-teller than a pirate. Though his offer did sound somewhat promising... "One mess-up..." he quickly warned the larger otter, who gave a small nod in understanding. "Very well," he muttered, finally taking back the small, elusive, red feather. "You 'ave a deal, Admiral Drake."

Upon learning that Violet's brother was a more elite warrior from the Pacific, Renkai was rather intimidated to meet him at first, but relieved when he recieved the warrior's approval to spend time with Violet. Although he hasn't quite realize it yet, he has formed feelings for her that often lead him to being quite close and affectionate at times without him noticing until the last minute. Other times it's the animals that are blinded by fear and run out onto a highway in confusion. But once in a blue moon, you'll find an animal, who is simply blind, that wanders onto the paved road at the wrong time...
Monday, April 7th, 2008:
It was a cold, stormy night when Animal Control had been called up again for clean-up on the main road about 7 miles north from their facility. It was difficult to find the animal through the downpour. Nonetheless, they soon spotted the unmoving form on the side of the road. Stepping out to check the otter's vitals, they found it had no heartbeat. It had been dead for awhile, yet despite the heavy fall of rain, the otter still continued to bleed. The Animal Control officers were contemplating burying the lost animal, when it's cold, stiff body suddenly jerked. The officers were in a state of shock as it seemed the old, presumably dead, otter started to breathe. It was taken back to the facility for analysis.
Upon further inspection, veternarians found that the otter was male, and that he was blind. He reacted to sound more than movements, making him totally reliable on sound, touch, and smell alone. No matter how many times the doctors would try to stitch his injuries, blood would still protrude from the wounds. They tried every humane thing to put the otter out of his misery, but his body would not accept any of the administered drugs.
As a last resort, he was sent to a reserve, where he would hopefully live 'normally' with other otters.
The undead otter, named Ketsueki, lives in The Otter Oasis to this day as a loner.
...That is, until he met Morgana.
A new friend, a new begining.
Ketsu lived for serveral months in the Oasis alone with very little contact with other otters except for a mini named Domino. The spotted otter had found the blind elder nearly about to take a step over a small ravine. He quickly directed him away and asked to serve as the elder's guide. Of course, the two managed to loose each other from time to time. On one particular day, when Ketsueki noticed he had been seperated from the mini (again), he found himself in the company of an angelic elder named Morgana. He was surprised to find she naturally carried the scent of blood, like him, nor did she seemed bothered by his appearance. Upon learning she was pregnant, he offered to help her search for clams. Though they only found one clam, Ketsu enjoyed being in Morgy's presence as they adventured past a waterfall to discover an underground cavern.
A few days later, Ketsueki met up with the angelic again. He was pleased to hear that she and the pups, who were each safely residing in their respective clams, were doing well. The loner had come to care for the wellfare of Morgana and he couldn't bare the idea of losing the only friend he ever had... It was fortunate that Ketsu had sharp hearing, or he wouldn't have heard Morgana's cry for help shortly a couple days after their second encounter. When Ketsueki ensured Morgana was safe from the demonic otter who attacked her, he made a promise to protect her whenever he was at her side.
A shame he wasn't nearby when the pups emerged from their clams. It seemed the attack on Morgana would only be the first of her worries...
Tradgedy strikes again... and again...
Morgana's youngest son, Mikhail, was kidnapped. Before the angelic elder returned to her other two pups, Scarlet, the eldest of the litter, had been ganged up on by a group of vampires and was attacked by the elder, Angelus; the same demon who had recently attacked Morgana. Although Scarlet was defended by Pearl's son and mate, Morgana wasn't sure if the Oasis was safe enough to raise her pups. While Pearl's family tried to convince Morgy to stay, Ketsueki, who had arrived late after catching the drifting scents of the attack, was startled to hear the idea of Morgana leaving because of the threat to her family. Lucikly he was able to convince her to stay and spent everyday near her den to protect her and her two pups.One, big family? (Pic by the lovely Moochi~)More to be added... ;o
