It wasn't that Annakai didn't care about her sister, about how she was in the clutches of an evil b*****d...it was just that she often drank enough to numb the pain. She kept herself in good spirits, by enjoying good spirits, and she let her mother leave the pie shop in her paws so that she in turn could turn the place into more of a pub. Since her mother had started leaving her in charge for longer and longer periods of time more and more drinks had appeared on the menu. After all if the predators were rip roaring drunk they were more likely to stumble home to their dens then work up the energy to go on killing sprees.

Yes a full stomach and a woozy head...well often led to messes, but equally as often led to fat happy predators leaving in the wee hours of the morning and returning at dusk for more. Anna kept her hood down her wide blue eyes hidden in the shadows, her clipped hair was also carefully smoothed under her hood. Anna preferred to be the unknown to watch others and never allow them close enough to watch her or form any opinion of her at all, other then that she was a female who liked a good bottle.

She leaned against the wooden counter and scooped up the clam dishes moving them in back to wash later, tonight the place seemed dead, as dead as she felt inside...ugh there she went again...thinking. Thinking was dangerous when she was alone, her sister enslaved to a monster, her mother depressed, her father equally so but better at hiding it. She uncorked a bottle and tipped her head back to finish it with a gulp. Ahhh that was better, the thoughts turned fuzzy around the edges.

Light pawsteps crunched softly through the crisp, newly fallen leaves of the early autumn. A pirate padded softly through the forest, lost in his musings. Although his appearance was neatly groomed, with his hair tied back and hat and coat in place, he seemed to hang his head in a disheveled manner. His blue sash, which was so often tied around his waist, was wrapped tightly around the fin of his tail, acting as a bandage of sorts.

Drake moaned, feeling a headache coming on. The past week's events had taken a toll on him, wearing him down to an exhausted state, nearly depriving him of energy. He loathed the mere thought of his youth slipping away. Just because he was a great uncle didn't mean he was old, was he? Hell if anything, while his siblings had gone off to start families, he should appear as the charming, young bachelor, right? Unfortunately, he wasn't in the mood to flatter his own ego right now. It didn't help that he still remained the oldest over his brother and sister.

Slowly, the admiral lifted his head and glanced around to take in the surroundings. He was level enough to figure out in what direction he had strayed from. Which was a good thing, since his aimless wanderings normally resulted in him becoming blissfully without a clue as to where he was. Vaguely recalling a scenario of him becoming lost when he was a pup (supposedly out on a excursion with his siblings), Drake glanced back in the direction he came from. He hadn't been out walking about for too long, but he really detested the thought of heading back to his den now. What he needed was a place to just relax for a moment. The pirate planted himself next to the base of a tree and fumbled around the inside of his coat before producing a flask from one of his inner pockets. Flicking the cap of the flask off with his thumb, Drake tilted his head back to take a swig from the concoction, but was mildly disappointed to find the cool liquid never reached his tongue. His brow furrowed as he shook the empty bottle before placing it back inside of his coat. God how he could go for a pint right about now...

Perhaps his desire for a drink had him imagining the sweet smell of it, but the red-clad pirate could almost swear he scented the aroma of alcohol nearby. It was faint, but his nose (apparently that's all it was good for) could detect it clear enough. He slowly rose back to his paws and followed the scent until the bracken cleared to reveal a long, wooden counter, that almost resembled a bar top. A young girl was sitting on the tender's side, helping herself to a bottle. "Ahh, dear me. Is it already closing time?" he asked, trying to swipe off his tired appearance and replace it with a coy but hopeful smile.

Anna blinked and smirked softly lowering the bottle from her lips. Her blue eyes skimmed over the masculine form before her and she tilted her head. He didn't look like the usual predatory type, but there was still something there...her eyes paused on his bandaged tail. She swiftly moved her eyes back to meet his face before flicking a clean clamshell infront of him.

"Hungry? Or thirsty?" She smirked. "or both?" She turned her back and pulled her hood tighter concealing herself, and holding back the pain that threatened to escape her when she was sober. She took a quick swig from her special reserve before tucking the bottle away with care. She turned back and leaned against the makeshift counter.

"We have delicious meat pies, mince pies, apple tarts, fish pies, clam pies, port, rum, hard brandy, firewater, milk rum, white wine, red wine, and mint tea...oh and water but thats...free." She disliked the word free, and if she could have found a way to improve water she probably would have charged for it.

"A drink or two will do, for now." He smiled airily, taking a seat and gently thumbing the rim of the empty clam shell. Drake tipped his head in attempts to try to study the girl's face from a better point of view, but could just barely catch the blue glint of her eyes from under her hood. He found the fact that her features were concealed just a tad bit suspicious, but surely someone who was offering hospitality could only be deemed of good intentions, right? He mulled over that question for a moment and decided not to answer it. The small ache at the back of his head was pulsing and longing for alcohol far too much for him to be mentally debating with himself.

The admiral couldn't help but smirk slightly as the femme listed off what she had to offer. "My, what a selection." he noted pleasantly, tipping his chin up in thought. Although he wasn't particularly hungry, the different array of pies did sound tempting... Perhaps later, he mused. Drake idly patted the side of his coat, relieved to hear the muffled sound of coins clattering together. He was rather pleased to find he had his concealed pouch of various gold, silver, and copper coins, (his wallet, if you will) on his person today. "Rum would be lovely~"

Drake didn't seem to take into account on how unusual it was for an outdoor tavern of sorts to be in the middle of a reserve. In fact, he thought it was a blessing. "Strange I've never seen this place before," he murmured, violet-blue eyes looking thoughtfully down the counter top. "Do you run this stand by yourself, love?"

"Rum, a classic..." She turned to stacked barrels and crates made of woven wood planks, everything in the shop was created from what the oasis had to offer. Granted thanks to a bit of careful trading they offered a bit more then what was normally scrounged up. She set a brimming clamshell infront of him and tilted her head to reveal a smile under the hood.

Ah but he was good looking, and his voice left her insides feeling better then brandy on a cold day. She focused back on his words and tossed her hood back to shake her wavy chocolate locks out. She knew she had hair as wild as her mothers, yet she refused to contain it, well not anymore then with two clips that might as well not have been present at all. Normally her hair was concealed by her hood along with the rest of her features, but she was feeling a bit warm under the collar.

"It's actually my mothers stand, but lately I've been running things, girl's got to help her family all she can. What about you hmm? I've never seen you around here before? You'll have to come visit us more often Mr...?"

"When in doubt, have rum. No sweeter words of poetry there, love." he cooed with a soft chuckle, watching curiously as she filled the clam with golden-amber liquid from one of the barrels behind the counter. The red-clad pirate breathed a sigh of relief as the clam was set before him. He returned the charming smile that the other otter revealed to him and placed his paws together graciously before bowing his head in thanks. "Bless your soul," he murmured praisingly, as though the hooded femme had just gave him the first shell of rum he'd seen in months. (To Drake, 24 hours was a pretty bloody long time without any source of alcohol to compensate for it.)

Gently picking the clam shell up with an odd, brief air of elegance (which can only be assumed was inherited from his mother's side of the family), Drake took a sip of the rum to savor the flavor before tipping his head back to allow the cool brew to slide down his throat. "Ahh, that's brilliant. Thank you, love~ I really needed that," he said graciously with a soft grin. However, his head tilted to the side and ears perked a bit as the femme pushed her hood back to reveal her features. He slipped his own hat off out of politeness (despite them being outside) and swept it over his chest. "My goodness!" he gasped, giving her an ashtonished look before slipping back to his coy grin and fanning himself off with his hat in a theatrical and playful manner. "Who knew there was such a lovely young face hiding under that hood~?"

Drake chuckled softly before setting his hat to the side and leaning forward a bit to prop himself up with his elbows. "So how does a charming girl like you come about running a pub out here? Don't you get loney?" he asked, motioning to take another drink from the shell, but paused in mid-sip as he realized his new acquaintance was inquiring for his name. "Ah!" he exclaimed, lowering the clam shell from his mouth. "Pardon me, I seem to forget my manners when I'm sober." he added with a slight smirk and a half-chuckle before answering. "Th' name's Drake Barbossa-Swann," he greeted pleasantly, disregarding the need to exchange his title. "But please, just call me Drake."
"And if I may be so bold as to pry for my hostess' name~?"

She watched the handsome male drink his fill and then smirked and refilled it. "Thank you, and of course. I am Annakail Lovett Nightroad, but you can call me Anna. This is Lovett's Pieshop though, if you ever want to find it again." She hoped she would see him again...frequently.

"I'm never quite alone, usually there's plenty of predators around at night looking for something to take the edge off their hunger. I guess tonight their all off...hunting. Who knows what they get off and into when they aren't here. My family has been having some troubles with a demon otter who lives southwest of here, my mom's been so upset about it...she's been letting me run the shop." She didn't want to touch much more on the subject of 'Di. She took another sip from her flask and licked her lips. If only she knew if her sister was alive, if she would ever return to them.

The admiral smirked. "I'll be sure to remember the name~"
Wait a second...
Ears perked up and realization crossed his features as he already knew the Nightroad name. "You're Abel's daughter, aren't you?" he inquired, curiosity piqued. "The father's a good family friend of ours. Well, more-so my old man, but he's a good soul nonetheless." he explained, stopping himself short with a small chuckle before he could begin to ramble. Drake had never met the Missus, but only heard positive things about her and her family. He slightly twirled his wrist with a whimsical flair and gave Annakail a curt bow. "'Tis a pleasure to meet you, Miss Anna." he purred charmingly.

The red-clad pirate didn't feel very worried when she assured him of the predators that sought out her pub in the late hours of the night. They were rather compromisable creatures, for the most part. (Then again, this was coming from an otter who'd spent the vast majority of his adulthood living right next to a neighboring fox-wolf's territory. He'd grown used to it.)
Rather, it was mention of the demon otter that set an uneasy feeling in his stomach. Rumors of certain demonic vampires wreaking havoc did not go unnoticed by the Oasis residents.
Wait, there'd been that one femme that was taken by the sinister elder demonic... Hadn't that been-- Oh gods. "I'm sorry to hear that," he murmured, looking over to Anna apologetically with sincere indigo eyes. "...How have you been faring, holding the fort by yourself?"
