Catastrophe Meets Dawn... (Calamity Meets Aruna)
PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
She decided that her obsession with Wind Soquili also bordered on a slight fascination with the Kalona Soquili. They, too, had wings (not as majestic as the Wind), but they could fly. Something that Aruna longed for, more than for a mate. She wished to have wings so dearly, often times she ran hard and long just to see if she could sprout wings and soar the skies like the Wind and the Kalona.

She felt all right with the Kalona (having met one as a child and grew up with him) but afterwards, she had not seen Wyvern in a long time, therefore pushed the Kalonas to the back of her mind. Now that she was alone with nothing else to think of, the Kalona Soquili came unbidden into her thoughts. Her mind was a whirl of raging thoughts, bouncing back and forth as she thought long and hard on the Kalona.

Would she ever meet one again? She had only ever met one Kalona (she was quite happy to know several Wind, in fact) and would love to know more about the Kalona. In their own way, they, too, were majestic and stunning. She, sometimes, awed them, but never feared. No. She was never taught to fear, she fear she did not. She smirked. That was quite an excellent gain from her father, indeed...

Quiddie!
Calamity was the unnervingly-cold, blindingly-vicious little colt his mother raised him to be thusfar, and he was nothing if not proud of those traits. Freed from his basket for only a few days, he'd already managed to have several confrontations with other soquili (both kids and adults). Not to mention the fond recollection of his dispatching of a particularly troublesome human. These events had served to steel his nerves, and with each passing day Calamity found less and less to fear in the world.

On one of his many journeys through the lands occupied by the soquili, Calamity decided to try and seek out another Kalona other than his family. After a few unlucky hours of finding any other soul (let alone a Kalona), he stumbled across a pretty earth-colored soquili that seemed to be caught up in her own thoughts.

Masking his relief at simply finding another soquili, Cal stomped obnoxiously across the clearing to make her notice him approaching.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna twitched her ears in irritation when the young colt starting stomping his hooves. She had noticed him earlier when his scent hit her nose, but she hadn't yet turned to see him. She turned now to show him that she acknowledged him, and narrowed her eyes questioningly at him. He was actually one of the prettier Kalona she'd seen (and that was saying something, considering Wyvern was nearly pitch black!) and he looked to be a true Kalona...

"Yes?" she asked, her tone coming out slightly impatiently. Schooling her facial expression, she steeled her nerves for an oncoming verbal--maybe physical--fight. "What do you want, colt of the Kalona Soquili? Come to hamper me with vicious words?" She mentally tried to reign in her excitement. A Kalona! She hadn't exactly thought to ever meet another one, but she most definitely was surprised to see that her thoughts seemed to have brought one to her. Now, if she could just gather her wits... She hadn't had a good verbal fight in a while (not since... that night...) and she hoped this Kalona was as good as Wyvern in verbal fights.

Quiddie!
Calamity was temporarily blindsided by the mare's words. He cocked his head to the side and blinked, wondering how on earth she knew enough about him to be on the defensive. He opened his mouth, hesitated, and shut it again. Had he actually been thunderstruck out of the gate? No. No freaking way.

"Who said I was even looking for you?" He glanced around him at all the empty, soquili-less space that hindered his argument. He wrinkled his nose and stuck up his chin anyhow. "Why are you by yourself anyway, you old nag? Senile and lost?"

It was a bit oddly harsh, even for him. But Cal didn't take well to being put in his place so thoroughly, and so quickly as well. Reveling in the cheap shot he made, the little colts' confidence bloomed once more.

He trotted nochalantly over to the mare and circled her appraisingly. She was plain enough, but the keen sharpness of her eyes were undeniable, and he made a mental note to avoid them when possible. She was clever, moreso than quite a few of the other soquili he'd encountered so far. And as much as that intrigued him and drew him toward her, his pride was reminding him that it would be his responsibility first to make sure she understood that he was better than her.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
For the first time in a while, Aruna smiled. "Forgive me for being so rude. I suppose I'm a little surprised to see one so great as you even acknowledge my presence." Okay, so she was being sugary with him, but that was fine. In a way, this young colt actually seemed--dare she say it?--kinder than Wyvern had been.

"I never said you were looking for me, by the way. Senile? Lost? Old nag? Quite a description. Should I add more? Stupid? Idiotic? Plain? I've heard it all, little colt of the Kalona, because you're not the first. Be happy to be the second I've met, however, because I've been... shall I say... dying?... to meet another of your kind."

She could tell he had been slightly stunned when she had first spoken with him. She smirked mentally. Perfect. Now, to add a bit more fuel to the fire. "Oh, yes, I forgot, O my superior being, that I'm not one to bow down so quickly to those who I--I will admit, are quite more majestic--than I."

She had to put it down to the colt though; he knew what he was doing, and she knew he'd grow to be a handsome--albeit, rude, harsh, possibly evil--Kalona stallion. Of course, that only depended on whether the young cold actually met her tastes. So far, he seemed to be making it. Maybe. Aruna found herself wondering why she enjoyed the company of so many smart-mouth Soquilis.

Probably... because she loved to argue. Heh. She was such... a loser. Oh well.

Quiddie!
This wasn't going anywhere near how he'd intented it to be. Perhaps it was because he wasn't the first of his kind she'd known, but her witty double speak was having more than it's intended effect on the little colt; he was at his wit's end trying to come up with some sort of retort and keeping himself from bursting into frustrated tears. She a horrible, horrible old goat, and he hated her through and through.

His brow was knitted tight enough to cause a headache in anyone that simply saw him, he could not think to say anything at all. In her delicate interplay between saccharined compliment and insult, she had dismantled the only means of verbal assault he'd known. With her, he would have to try harder.

He stepped back and clenched his jaw. "So it seems the only thing left for me to ask is why you seem so obssessed with my kind? Other than our obvious looks...there's got to be a reason. Is it that a plain and wholly unattractive mule like yourself wishes to be special and unique? Because I certainly couldn't pick you out of a crowd...what is your name?"

He flicked his tail hopefully. He was genuinely curious who this soquili could be. He'd be sure to ask his mother the moment he got home. Especially if she knew others like him too!

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna's eyes softened slightly at the sight of the colt furrowing his brow to try and come up with a retort. "I'm sorry," she said sincerely, "I see I may have been too harsh. Or shall I show you a lesson all Kalona need to know?" She hoped that with the way she spoke with him, he most definitely would be an awesome Kalona.

"An old, plain, unattractive mule as I am? Yes, I wish to be special and unique as you are. To fly and be free, to be able to express things as you do." She probably sounded like a fool to the poor dear. But that was fine; she didn't mind at all. "I'm Aruna, colt of the proud Kalona. Your name, I'm sure, will be magnificent...

"I do hope to see you when you become an adult." She smiled at him--a genuine smile--and her golden eyes sharpened. "For then, I would love to have a good arguement with you." She hoped this colt didn't belong to whom she figured he might belong to. She had heard rumors of two Kalona mating, and those two had been heard of to be some of the most vicious of their kind...

Quiddie!
Absolutely infuriating. Now she was being genuinely nice to him? She pitied him. Poor little colt, too stupid to even speak to like a normal soquili. It only served to harden his heart against her even further. He lowered his head, his dour mood darkening further. "My name is Calamity, son of Atrocity and Rhiana and brother to Misery. And if you value your own life, mare, never try to cajole me again."

Every muscle in his back and neck tensed up, and his wings arched gracefully off his shoulders. "You're clever, I'll give you that. But give me time and I'll glady until and quiet that sharp and limber tongue of yours."

He dared to look into her fluid golden gaze. It was now a mixture of several elements: some he could identify, and others he would not understand until he was much farther along in age. "Why do you seek a fight, Aruna?"

He realized privately that this was the first time he'd ever addressed another soquili by name.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna's genuine smile turned cold, before melting into a smirk. "Ah. You truly fit your father and mother, even as I do not know them. I've merely heard rumors. And... I do not value my life." She figured Calamity was riled up quite a bit now. How nice. "If you think I pity you, I do not. You're intelligent enough.

"More so, actually, than most I've met." She fell silent a moment, and then spoke again. "I seek a fight? I suppose I do. Maybe I just wish to die by someone majestic..." she hinted slightly, but in truth, she wanted someone who she could take comfort in, even if they yelled at her. Rahu... Rahu, she thought with an angry mental snarl, did not deserve her in the least.

Actually, this was the first time another male had actually been downright honest with her. Calamity could see right through her, just like she could with him. How... odd. She stared at him a bit longer, narrowing her eyes thoughtfully. Yes... he'd be magnificent and handsome as an adult. She herself wasn't that old, either... She shook her head. What was she thinking? She truly was getting senile... but not old. Never old.

Quiddie!
"Is it my turn to say something heartfelt and hopeful? There's plenty to live for? You have to look to see the beauty of life...blah blah blah? Well it's not going to happen, I assure you."

He spoke frankly and sternly at the older soquili, as though they were both of the same age and standing. "If you don't see the value in your own life, why would you expect anyone else to?"

He snorted and kicked idly at the ground. "Despair doesn't suit you, mare."

That's it, that was as close to passing for a compliment as he would allow himself today or any other day. He shut down mentally, closing himself off to being anything more than the rude little child he'd entered the clearing as. "Silly ninny of a mare...wants to jump off a cliff for crying out loud."

He narrowed his eyes and flapped his wings mockingly. "Shame you wouldn't have a pair of these once you came to your senses halfway down the cliff!"

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
She smirked. "Too bad there isn't a cliff anywhere near here. Are you an idiot? Of course I value my life! Otherwise, I wouldn't get to meet such a beautiful creature as you are. If I cannot see my obsessions, then I have no life, in my own way." She had to silently congradulate the young colt. He was learning to compliment with hidden insult. Good. "Ninny? Strange. I've yet to have been called that. Why, thank you!" A small bit of sarcasm, but that was okay.

"Ah, yes..." her eyes sparkled and glittered slightly at the sight of his wings. "Quite a shame, indeed. If only I had wings... I most like could soar and rule the skies..." Some sarcasm there, as well. "But do you expect me to be such a fool to actually try such a deed? Perhaps, should I get desperate enough. Maybe I might just sprout wings." She laughed then, a cold laugh, a laugh that could better match one of his kind. Her gold eyes were stone cold as she stared at the sky.

Quiddie!
"You are absolutely stark-raving mad, d'you know that? I hear what they say about my mother. They say she's insane. But clearly they haven't met you. What are you blathering about?"

He knew she was trying to have some sort of deep, thoughtful moment, but he had no interest in it, and it made her sound touched in the head.

"Why are you obessed with my kind, anyway? Or was it just the one, and now you're trying to project him onto me?" It was something atartlingly adept for him to say, and personal to the point of near-sincerity. He had to fix it.

"Did he dump you or something? Because I would completely understand why he did."

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"You're quite perceptive for a little one." She glowered at him. "The stallion I talk of has moved on, as well as I. We both happen to hate each other." She spat out the words heatedly, eyes glowing with hatred at the mention of the stallion she was thinking of.

"I'm obsessed with your kind merely because your kind can fly free." It was true. If the winged ones ever so wished, they could fly away and never return. "I'm not crazy, by the way. I just happen to have strange thoughts."

Okay, she was joking again, but she wasn't crazy at all. This Kalona colt was quite amusing, to say the least. "Touche, young Calamity. You're really quite remarkable."

Quiddie!
"Enough of your compliments, mare. I get it. You're bizarre, and I'm remarkable. There is very little in the way of discoveries being made today. I already knew I was unique and gifted...and I work on the assumption that pretty much everyone else I meet is crazy or completely unworthy of my attention. You happen to fit the bill of the former. Be pleased. If nothing else I find you interesting."

Cal began to pace in place anxiously. He was still a foal, and had far outreached the attention span held by children of his age. He sighed and shook his mane. "But not anymore...right now at least. I'm going to go, but I don't think this is the last time we'll meet. Not by a long shot. I'll keep my eye on the cliffs, in case you change your mind, you silly mare. Goddbye."

He preened his wings and allowed a small tic to pull a muscle in the side of his jaw just enough to give Aruna the ghost of a smile. He nodded and without waiting for another word trotted off in the opposite direction. He didn't quite know what to think of her. He'd reserve judgement of the slightly different mare for another meeting, a first for the normally rash Kalona.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna watched as he trotted away, obviously hoping he appeared dignified. Well, until he was a full-grown stallion, he merely looked like a child stalking off to sulk. At least in her eyes. "Farewell, then, young Calamity. Until we meet again."

And... was the a smile she saw? Well, it sort of was. Kalona didn't smile, they smirked. But whatever. "I'm glad I meet your idea of worthlessness," she muttered sarcastically under her breath. "Silly? Will he always call me that? Tch."

She ambled away from the cliffs, for surely, it was late, and she had to return to her human's home where she stayed. Her father would worry. For a Kalona, Calamity was quite different. In a way, she had to put him above the other Kalonas... Hmph. He got a real compliment from her.

She'd never tell him that. She hoped.

In the Light of the Full Moon
Ameh
A grunt echoed through the trees in the darkness. Complete silence, save for reverberated snorts sang out through the night. All seemed stationary, except for one travelling figure, where the snorts and grunts were coming from. Though they were soft, quiet noises, the stillness of the night had accentuated its volume. A gleaming silvery, almost pure coat of white flashed through the trees, looking for its way out of the forest almost hastily, though it wasn't in a rush. It just loved moving through the earth wildly, freely, and speedily. This gave it a feeling of dominance; of control. White golden-yellow-tinted hair streamed after its body gracefully as it walked on through the night air, and it finally came to a nice clearing overlooking a cliff. Trees had stopped fifty feet back from the edge of the rocky cliff, so the glory of the moon fully penetrated the area. The figure withdrew a calm, deep sigh, basking and taking comfort in the refuge of the moonlight.

As he stood still in the moonlight, he almost looked like another moon himself. His pure coat of silver and white hair glew faintly in the presence of the moon, and whenever the moon came, a peaceful tranquility washed over him. The night had brought about a full moon, too. As this only occurs once--sometimes even twice a month, Shadowfax enjoyed travelling to places that seemed closest to the moon whenever the annual sightings came, and simply sat in the company of the full moon. Whether this ritual had any actual meaning or not didn't bother him. He just did it out of pure instinct. That was him - a stallion of pure instinct.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Her name meant "dawn"... she sometimes despised her name, having wished instead to be named something after the moon. The night sky, with its beautiful blanket of the stars with the Lady Moon watching over them protectively, had her longing to become one with the sky. She often wished to fly away, to produce wings so that she could join the sister stars and the mother moon in a dance of pale light. But alas... it was not to be.

Instead, she merely ran swiftly, to feel the wind, its furious breeze, in her mane and tail as she imagined herself flying and cruising with the moon. As she ran, sharp golden eyes saw a flash of white... silver, even, nearly the same color as the moon itself. Her eyes widened as she realized it wasn't another moon, but a stallion. Not only that... she was running straight toward him. She couldn't stop her legs. She was going to fast! "...Wa... WATCH OUT!" she cried, closing her eyes tight.

It just had to be the night sky.

...After all, it was the only time she expressed herself.

Ameh
The stallion simply sidestepped the mare that had been running at him like a stampede of buffalos with natural grace. He had heard her headed in his direction right before he actually saw her thundering hooves come at him like a bee targetting its flower. How dare she--disturb the peaceful moon and himself, especially on a night like this!.. But she was a lady; a mare, so he must be polite. "You watch out -- you're going to run off the cliff," he stated matter-of-factly before reaching his neck out to her as soon as she had passed him, snapping his jaw lightly on her trailing tail so it wouldn't hurt that much while being effective. "Bwe mwore qwerfwul," he said, mouth full. How did she manage to run directly at him, anyways?

This was a strange night. When was the last time he had seen a mare running towards him so desperately, seemingly, under the moonlight's watch? Never. Actually, he hadn't seen many around lately. When he had parted with his own blood many moons ago, he hadn't met anyone at all. He had gotten used to roaming around the fields by his lonesome self... but now there was company. Ah, well. Change was nice sometimes.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"Oh..." Aruna said, managing to stop when the stallion caught her tail. Settling herself, she nodded to him. "I'll be more careful, thank you, let go of my tail now please, and yes, I know there's a cliff there, I was doing this on purpose, now would you mind?" For some reason, although the stallion had been kind enough to help her, he raked on her nerves. It was a good thing he had sidestepped her. She was already embarrassed enough that she herself had to be stopped.

Okay, so her mind had led to her near demise, but she hadn't exactly been the best of moods lately. Hardly, actually. Truthfully, she could use someone to lash out at. Now that she could see again, she stared at the stallion to eye him over. He was actually quite handsome--practically the opposite of that stallion--and far more handsome at that; added to the fact that he sounded kinder than the other one. Now, where was she? Oh, yes, wishing to fly with the moon...

Ameh
Shadowfax let go immediately of the mare's tail. "Easy there, m'lady," he said soothingly, cocking a brow. Did he say something wrong? "I was only worried -- for your sake, mind you." He stepped back from the mare, sensing that he had somehow caught her at a bad time. He didn't enjoy confrontations very much. He was a peaceful, free stallion, and did not like to get tangled up in complicated webs of drama. Carefully, he offered a slight smile to the mare to perhaps appease her; calm her down. He then closed his eyes and bowed to the mare, remembering his manners; since he hadn't encountered any others for a long, long time, old habits were only now beginning to be realized again. "My sincerest apologies, m'lady, I am called Shadowfax."

While bowing, he let one of his eyes open to a small slit, taking in a secret glance at the mare. One couldn't be too careful, nowadays. But when he did, he saw that she had been staring at him, as well. He closed his eyes shut again, hoping she didn't catch that small flicker of movement about his face. What was she doing, looking at him? Was he that interesting to stare at? An uneasy cough escaped his mouth. He didn't enjoy others looking at him, unless he was actually acquainted with them.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna blinked as he bowed, slightly startled. "I... Forgive me," she whispered, suddenly nervous. She never could deal with stallions like him. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Shadowfax. I'm called Aruna... and thank you for helping me earlier. I... I apologize for seeming so... snappish... earlier..." She couldn't believe she was starting to babble. Babble!! She hated to do that, but all she could do was stare at Shadowfax. She tried not to, though. "Like the Lady Moon..." she suddenly said, unbidden, "...You remind me of Mother Moon." Her eyes widened considerably at her sudden comment. "I... Forgive me once again... I might have spoken out of turn..."

She hadn't meant to say that. But it was true; Shadowfax did remind her of the moon.Lately, she had been so... emotionally unstable... ever since that night with Ra--no, don't say his name!--that stallion that she could use the company of anyone else. Anyone at all, even if she didn't want company... she knew she could use some. The feathers in her mane all fluttered with the soft, night breeze as she finally pulled away her--most likely piercingly uncomfortable--golden gaze to look at the moon. It felt that the stars and the moon were her only friends anymore.

Ameh
"Forgive you?" Shadowfax asked, suddenly confused. He got up from his bowing position and stood rigid again. "Apologize?" He laughed. He sensed the mare's anxiety, and couldn't help but find it somewhat amusing. "No trouble, no trouble, Aruna," he said, adding emphasis to her name. He smiled. He liked that name. "It is a pleasure to meet you, as well. And... Lady... Mother Moon?" he repeated. That was odd; he had never been described by anyone as the moon before. But that may have been because he was rarely with company whenever he went for strolls in the moonlight. He took a moment to ponder at the thought. Was his coat really that luminescent? And... Was he that intimidating? He sighed softly after Aruna apologized again. "There is no need for apologies, or forgiveness. You need not apologize in my presence," he winked, "I am just another like you; we stand as one under the night sky." He continued smiling, gazing at the moon as well. "The moon is pretty tonight, isn't it? But... I remind you of Mother Moon?"

He was flattered. He loved the moon so much; almost like a mate. But the moon was so far--the moon was not his kind. But yet, it still allured him. He turned to look at the mare after a while. She seemed troubled. He frowned slightly, a little concerned for her, even though he had just met her. Hesitating a bit, he took a few steps towards her and looked into her eyes. "Is there something the matter?" The curls of his lips moved upwards in a smile; in an attempt to perhaps infect the other soquili. "You need not keep any secrets under the moon."

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna's emotions were all in a whirl. She flushed when Shadowfax smiled, but managed to fight it down. "I... Yes, I won't apologize anymore..." she said, relaxing. This stallion made her feel a lot better. Better than she knew. He looked so wonderful, under the light of the beautiful moon. "Ah... That's what... I call the moon... She... Lady Moon... or Mother Moon... She... has been a very good friend to me all my life," she said, barely loud enough for him to hear. She felt shy suddenly. "Just... another like me?" she blushed and looked away.

She never expressed this much emotion, but she couldn't help it under her current condition. The stallion nearly felt like a god sent to her by the moon. And when he looked straight into her eyes like that, she couldn't help but confess, especially after what he just said. "I... Yes. I... I'm..." she stumbled over her words. "No... secrets..." she said breathily. "I've just... been under a lot of emotional stress lately..." she finally said. She had kept so much under her mask... she still wish she could. Shadowfax somehow managed to drag the information out of her. "...yes... I... I've been under a lot of stress..."

Ameh
Shadowfax tilted his head at Aruna as her reply drifted into a barely inaudible string of words. He let it go, knowing that whatever the mare had said was obviously not meant to be heard. He didn't like poking into other people's businesses, especially if they were not as well acquainted with him, and especially if they did not seem so open about themselves. He simpered as he sensed the mare suddenly go warm and turn away. "You know... Your eyes shine out beautifully in the moon's embrace." He took a moment to turn away from her himself, looking back at the glowing white orb in the sky. "You have two eyes, two ears, one mouth, four legs, and," he paused, "we both have the same passion for the moon, it seems like." He took a moment longer to look her over while she looked away. He hadn't really seen her until now--she had the same long, flowing tail as he, and her hair was adorned with feathers that seemed to bring out her eyes. In his eyes, her figure stood quivering, unrelaxed in the moonlight, hidden by a false facade.

"Stress is no good," he stated simply. "But solace can be found in the most simplest of things -- I take it that is why you're here now, hm? The closest peak to the moon?" He sighed. He didn't enjoy watching others in distress, as deep inside, distress from others pained him as well. It was good that she had found her way here with him, though. The moon sometimes manages to bring unlikely companions together. Ah, that sly one!

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Shadowfax seemed so cool and confident... his stance was like that of a proud, towering tree who would only bow before the moon. She turned back to him, flushing, and unable to hide that she blushed anymore. "My eyes...?" She slowly allowed her mask fall, allowing a soft smile to appear on her face. "...Thank you... but I'm sure I'm no comparison to you, Shadowfax." She looked him up and down, silently appreciating the pale coat and the strong looking muscles. His color slightly reminded her of Calamity, the Kalona that was rainbow-ish and white. She was beginning to relax. "Yes, I came up here to the best place to see the moon." She turned to smile brilliantly at the pale white orb. "I always come this way when I'm... troubled..." She allowed a soft laugh at hearing his words. "Two ears, two eyes, four legs, one mouth... a mane and a tail... and yes, I do agree, we both have a passion for the moon." She knew her body still shook, whether from excitement or fear, she didn't know.

"I can't help it..." she said, somewhat sounding pouty. "The stallion I used to be in love with threw away my feelings like they were nothing--which they probably were to him--so now I can't help but feel... strange. I don't know what to feel at times, so... then I met him a few months ago, and things turned out horribly... and I've been... alone for a long time..." It was the truth. After meeting up with Rahu and her mother and brother, she had not returned to the teepee. She figured Miakoda and her father would understand, but the human was probably by herself in the teepee by now, as Hania, her father, would be visiting Mahiri, her mother, Bairn... Artemis... Swafi... and probably anyone else he knew. He knew several Soquili, actually, but she could never remember who they all were. His nature probably allowed him to find so many friends it was actually making her envious. She didn't have as many friends, but she figured she probably had enough. She glanced toward Shadowfax--having turned her gaze to the moon--and nodded to herself. She probably had enough, good friends.

She then turned to the moon. So sly, Lady Moon. Did she guide her up hear this night for this meeting?

Ameh
Shadowfax hesitated as she turned to him, seeing her face brighten more red, even though her orange-brown coat faintly hid it in the dark air of the night. He didn't know why exactly she was blushing, and it was all too new for him. If he had seen anyone blush before him in the past, he had never noticed it. He nodded truthfully; her eyes did seem to glisten with beauty in the light of the moon. "No comparison to me?" he chuckled lightly, "Perhaps so, perhaps not; beauty, is, of course, in the eye of the beholder." Troubled, he thought, after hearing Aruna. What plagued the mare's mind so much? He snorted softly, though not loud enough for the mare to hear. He hoped she would be at peace soon--if not soon, at least with him now, under the full moon. He looked at her form--almost seemed shaking, shivering in the moonlight, but there seemed to be less tension in the air, now. He hoped his presence calmed her somewhat.

As he took in her words, he couldn't help but feel pity for Aruna. He himself had never been in the same position as her, though--and he himself has never been in love. He enjoyed the unrestraint freedom and carelessness of life that came with the emotional bearing of having had no love life in the past. And he didn't plan to seek out anyone, either. He was happy as a wild, untamed, unchained stallion. "It is... sad misfortune that you happened to cross paths with that one," he solemnly said. "How inconsiderate of him. You must take care of where your heart seeks refuge in, at times... What name does he go by? Perhaps I myself will see him one day, and..." He stopped. He had a deep hatred of stallions that had no regard to anyone else but themselves, but what would he do anyways if he had met this fellow stallion? "...and you never know, life may be horrible for him as well. You can't be so sure of the feelings of others. Perhaps he exhibits same feelings as you do, too. Solitude has also been a friend of mine. You are the first one of my kind that I have seen for a long, long time." He sighed contentedly. "It is actually nice being able to meet you. I've only had myself and the moon for company since who knows when. I suppose it was bound to happen one day--but tonight, on a full moon? I haven't had the chance to share this experience with anyone. Thank you," he said, honest of his appreciation for the mare's company.

The moon had its ways of weaving the tale of the world together, and Shadowfax was indeed a character it used in its plays. "Look," he said suddenly, pointing his head at the sky. It was a faint, barely visible, but strong streak of light--a shooting star. It grazed by the moon passionately, and continued on its invisible pathway, towards the end of the horizon. He had rarely seen comets, and when he did, he always took it for granted--until now. Mesmerized by the star's stream, he started to softly sound a hymn he had learned in his days of young in his tribe.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna's blush soon faded, and now she only smiled gently at the stallion. "Rahu is the stallion's name, Sir Shadowfax," she said quietly, her smile a bit shaky as she said his name, "...and I suppose you're correct. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... how true can that be?" She had slowly stopped shaking, and blinked a bit, golden orbs observed the stallion. "I'd rather you not pity me, Shadowfax," she suddenly said, looking irritated. "I would not mind it if you offered your sympathies, but please do not pity me. I'm... not used to such a thing." That, and she absolutely hated it when someone pitied her. It made her sound... cowardly. And, as Rahu would put it--and she would actually agree with him on this one--she sounded so... weak. She wasn't weak! No. She just couldn't handle the emotional turmoil that this... feeling... was giving her. "I believe Lady Fate wished for my misfortune," Aruna said dryly, although she was merely joking, if that was possible.

"Rahu has his own issues, something about his mother abandoning him as a child, though I'm inclined to claim that I'm probably not allowed to say that, for it is his secret to tell, not mine." Her smile grew a little at his words. "I'm glad it's nice you met me. I'm also quite glad that I met you. I... feel better than I've had in days..." When he thanked her, Aruna fought back another oncoming blush of embarrassment. "No, Sir Shadowfax, thank you." She turned to look at the sky as he suddenly pointed out... a shooting star. Breathless, she watched it fly across the sky, and her secret wish for wings sprouted once again. "If only I could fly..." she whispered, more to herself than to Shadowfax, "...I could follow the star to its destination... and see many things beyond this place." She turned to him, a little startled when he starting to hum a tune, and she, in turn, listened. It was a nice tune, but it sounded oddly like that of a human's song, nearly like her bonded's song at times when Miakoda sang. "...A pretty sound..." she whispered, gold eyes glistening intently as she listened.

Ameh
A slow silence came over Shadowfax as he tried to make out what had made the air grow more tense between the two from his last words. Perhaps it was his inquiry to know that stallion's name? Or was it his words filled with sorrow at Aruna's situation? Did his appearance give himself away that much? "Ah--" he started, unsure of what to say. This was quite awkward; perhaps even a first. The mare had seemed so cool and comfortable with him before, but now--what did he do? "My apologies, Aruna, I did not mean to..." he stopped, choking on his last few words. He had meant to offer her his sympathies, but his eyes--his tone--his something must have made it seem like he pitied her as if she were inferior--but he had never thought that. The new change in the air between them slowed down Shadowfax's reactions, as his mind was bubbling over in confusion. "Sir Shadowfax...?" he questioned slowly, almost laughing. "Please, Aruna, just call me Shadowfax." He even managed a weak smile. "I don't believe a title suits me, considering the type of stallion I am." But his smile soon turned into a frown when Aruna joked about her misfortune. He shook his head slowly, unknowing of what to say, having never been in this situation.

"Do not fear," he said warmly, "Any secret of anyone's is mine to keep as well. If he has issues from the past that still bothers him to this day, then it is his to keep, not yours. If he is blinded by the act of one single mare, let it not fall upon you as well. Simply, if he cannot move on..." He took one secretive glance at Aruna, admiring her solid beauty and her wistful soul. It took a moment longer for Shadowfax to realize he was in the middle of speaking, and thus he continued, "...then you must be at peace with yourself and move onto higher places than he."

Now it was Shadowfax's time to blush. He rarely--or never blushed. The feeling he had gotten when the mare had told him that she had felt likewise about their meeting made him--cheerful--joyous--blessed--not a word described it! He wished to say more, but somehow, his own body prevented him from doing so, and he remained speechless. "The pleasure is all mine..." he finally managed to utter quietly to himself; far beyond the limits of Aruna's hearing.

He quietly turned to gaze at Aruna once his short hymn was complete, and the shooting star was no longer within sight. He had heard her words earlier when the comet was still in sight, but he had only fully realized them now. The hymn had reminded him of his past; it was indeed a human's song, but he had spent many of his young days surrounded by things that walked on two legs. Even so, he was still wild and free--for the most part, no one could ever, or will ever tame him. The song spoke of, ironically, being free and able to explore the far reaches of the world. Odd how Aruna had brought up the notion of being able to fly. "But you don't need wings to fly, Aruna..." he said, a fox-like smile forming on his face.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
She laughed softly. "Ah, I do not want your apologies, but I forgive you." She shook her head. She was feeling startlingly better; significantly better, she dared to say. She decided she'd tease him a little. "Sir Shadowfax sounds more elegant, don't you think?" She said, trying not to laugh. "I suppose I can call you Shadowfax, then..." She was cheered up now, and she knew. Thank you, Mother Moon. You're always watching over me. She managed to fight back a giggle. "A title can suit anybody, no matter what kind of mare or stallion you are. Many call me 'dear Aruna' quite a bit." How true that was. She could only fight back her laughter so much, and as a result, her face flushed--again--and this time she couldn't fight back the blush. She finally decided she'd just better laugh, and laugh she did.

A soft, gentle laugh--for she didn't laugh a lot--and she soon calmed down. She knew that there was still a slight tension in the air, but it was starting to dull. That, and the silence that had reigned over the both of them after her last outburst was starting to go away, too. She didn't want to make this free, wild, stallion feel chained down because of her. It wasn't... right. Not when he was so happy and free... "Thank you," she replied, when he told her he'd keep the secret, even though she didn't quite understand why Rahu thought it should be a secret. "A higher place? Where would that be? I've never quite climbed a mountain..."

She turned to him, with the moon at her back now. She cocked her head at him, questioning him a little. "You're kind of red, Shadowfax," she decided she'd just drop her teasing with the title thing, "Are you all right? Did you say something?" She could have sworn he'd spoken something, but she probably just heard the wind. Oh, great, she was hearing things! His song soon faded, and she had to smile. The song was really quite ironic, but she wouldn't say more than that. "How do you mean? Of course you need wings to fly!" She blinked, and cocked her head again, confused. She was practical to the end...

Ameh
"Oh?" said, a childlike smile flashing over his face. "I apologize for apologizing again, then, m'lady--m'dear Aruna. Elegant my bottom. Call me Sceadu-faex if you'd like, my name in the old tongue; the tongue that manages to twist even the most skilled of tongues. But..." He paused in mid-thought, analyzing a few things in his mind. "If many call you 'dear Aruna', then that must mean you must have many that find you the most dear in their hearts?" He sniffed, feeling somewhat jealous. But the wave of jealousy only brushed by momentarily, as when Aruna had started to laugh, he did as well. Boy, was he having a good time with the mare. But that could also have been because he hasn't had good company, or any company at all for that matter, lately.

A quick automatic nod came as she thanked him, and he stopped laughing and started to smile again. "A mountain?!" He chuckled, shaking his head heartily. "No, not a mountain, dear Aruna," he said with a wink, "By higher places I mean... You must..." What did he mean? There were some things that he couldn't quite put into words, but nevertheless he tried. "You must prove yourself to be better than he is by living a more fulfilled, happier life." He nodded at his words, his nods getting more vigorous as the time passed as he was sure that he had explained it somewhat well enough.

He turned away from her, slightly embarassed by his situation. What had caused him to blush? He scolded himself inside for allowing himself to. "I am?" he said slowly, hoping his cheeks would wash off and become their same silvery color again once he turned back to Aruna, "Am I all right? Did I say something? What did I say?" He chuckled to himself as he repeated after her. Attempting to provide a distraction while the foreign feeling was still over him, he gazed over to a tree some few yards behind them both, and blinked curiously at it. "Trees are peculiar," he said, throwing off random comments from his mind, before finally turning back to Aruna. He smiled. "No, you don't need wings to fly." He breathed in deeply, and exhaled, closing his eyes, a calm feeling of tranquility washing over him. "You can fly anywhere, at any time..." He let it go at that, hoping the mare would one day realize that his words were indeed true. One, of course, cannot explain freedom or flight, or flight in freedom like experience can.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna couldn't stop herself this time--she giggled. "I said not to apologize! And you apologized for apologizing and... oh, nevermind. I accept your apology, then." She laughed again; that was a little confusing, but she supposed it made sense. Sort of. "My family calls me 'dear Aruna', or at least, my brother does. The stallion I used to be in love with called me that, too, but no longer." She closed her eyes, breathing slowly, and deeply. "Now, the only one who calls me that is my brother. And you, now, I suppose, Sceadu-faex." She tried not to laugh at the name, but he was right--it was quite hard to pronouce. "Did I pronouce that right? Elegant your bottom? Well, okay, your tail and your mane are both elegant, then, Sir Shadowfax," she said, wanting to just laugh and laugh and laugh some more.

She blushed when he winked at her, especially when he emphasized the 'dear' before her name. "Yes, a mountain! What's higher than the mountain but the sky? Unless..." Aruna paused as she tried to understand the underlying meaning of Shadowfax's words. "Well... I guess I... sort of... understand your meaning." She smiled at him, something she found herself doing quite often with him. She blinked at him, completely clueless as to why he blushed--okay, she had a small clue, but it wasn't because of her, probably--and anyway, after Rahu, she felt sort of worthless. Shadowfax helped improve her spirit, though. "You said something, all right." She cocked her head at him. "I thought I heard you say something like the pleasure is all yours... or something. Now, if that doesn't prove you to be called Sir Shadowfax, I don't know what would."

She turned to the moon. "Higher places... Well, one day, if I ever come to love another stallion like I did Rahu, I'd like to show him my precious keeper, my friend who is always there. After all, she brought me someone." She turned to smile at Shadowfax, golden eyes twinkling. "Someone who helped me to feel better about myself." She wondered if she should say friend, but she wasn't sure if he could be considered that. She had an inkling in her mind about him, something that was telling her about him, but she couldn't put a hoof on it. She brushed away the thought then, and decided to just smirk at him. That fox-like grin of his reminded her of her mother's mischevious grin whenever the fox-colored mare was up to something--usually something silly, but something--and well, she wondered what Shadowfax was planning.

Ameh
A loud grin displayed itself onto Shadowfax's face, pleased of the reactions he got from Aruna. The grin lasted until she said those words--"stallion I used to be in love with"... He threw her a concerned look, and then quickly turned his attention to the moon a moment sooner. She seemed to throw that phrase so... so unrestrainedly. He didn't know why it bothered him, but it did, somewhat. He caught himself, shaking his head, allowing for her to finish her last words. He nodded as she pronounced his other name, used many times in his past. A small wave of embarassment came as he felt Aruna's need to contain her laughter. His name wasn't that funny, now was it?

"Now," he said, sighing and feigning exasperation, "Elegant would be something... I would use in association with one such as yourself." He gave a cheesy smile. "For instance... When you were running at me from the depths of the forest, for who knows what reason?! I mean--that is elegance, right there." Unable to hold himself any longer, he let out a guffaw and, moments later, self-consciously stopped--though a cheerful smile still remained on his face.

He brushed Aruna's neck reassuringly with his own in affable silence while she seemed to wash away all literal thoughts of his message. He let the moment linger on for quite a bit more, until the quietness was edging upon the border of awkwardness. "Trust me," he said, looking deep into the eyes of Aruna, "The title would simply not fit... A stallion such as I. Perhaps you will see otherwise, in the future." He paused, putting a little thought into what he would say next. "I do... hope to see you after we part tonight, dear Aruna." His gaze turned to the stars once more as he stared somewhat longingly, almost as if he wanted to be one with the stars themselves.

"Your precious keeper?" he slowly asked, unfocusing his eyes from the sky, "...is your friend here now, too?" He was puzzled, and an uneasy furrow formed, but that easily gave away to Aruna's grin. He grinned himself, too, her grin contaminating him--it just seemed so... charming.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna managed to control her laughter, though it was hard to not laugh. "I'm sorry for laughing," she said, a small giggle escaping without her meaning to, "But your name for that pronouciation is so... stange." She noticed his concerned look, and smiled at him reassuringly. It was all said and done with; she had nothing more to say about it. She hoped with her all her heart that Shadowfax never met Rahu; it was bad enough that Calamity had met the dark, blood-painted stallion.

"Elegant? With myself?" Aruna said, looking quite stunned. "Now, Shadowfax!" She began, stumbling on her words. "Ah.. about the running, I apologize! It's, um, hard to see at night sometimes..." she said, a bit loftily. Actually, it wasn't hard at all to see at night, but she had also been crying a little... she hoped Shadowfax would never see her like that. If he had, she felt the tingling of embarrassment begin to ride over her, but only for a moment. She twitched her ears at his smile (a horse's version of a raised brow), and then chuckled as he laughed.

"Don't worry over my account if you feel you need to laugh," she assured him. He was a free stallion; she liked it better when he looked happy like that. She flushed a little when he brushed her neck, and nodded when they looked deep into each other's eyes at what he said. She smirked a little. "Well, with the way you spoke just now, it'd be hard to not believe that title didn't fit you, Shadow." She had subconsciously shortened his name, so she didn't realize she had done so.

"Come now, Shadow!" She said, eyes shining, along with her grin becoming a soft smile. "You know her, too!" She turned to stare at the moon, whom she had been referring to. "Lady Moon, our precious friend who brought us together." She winked at him, hoping he understood her meaning. "My friend is here, all right... both of them in fact. You and the moon, two of my most precious friends." She didn't mind that she had only known Shadowfax for a short while, but in a way, she felt she had known him a long time, too.

Will finish logging later.

Hania and Aruna Finally Meet Artemis
PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Hania breathed in the mid-morning air happily as he trotted out into the clearing. It was a beautiful day, and he had a feeling he would be able to see most of his family today (besides his daughter Aruna that is) as he drank from a pool that came from a rushing brook on the other side. He turned when he heard other hooves behind him. "Good morning, Aruna," he greeted. Aruna usually slept in during the day because she stayed up most of the night to watch the night sky and see the sunrise.

Aruna nodded to her father as she came up behind him. "Good morning, Father," she replied, somewhat weary. She had had disturbing dreams as she slept, but she was fine now, for at least, she had had a fitful sleep. "You're very cheerful this morning, Father..." Hania only hummed happily, and so she followed him as he took her for their daily exercise of trotting, cantering, and running... or so she thought. This was the direction to her mother's teepee. We're going to visit Mother today?

Remove
Mahiri was drinking from a pot put out by the girl, Artemis was with her. The two mares were drinking happily after their last meal that was a little spoilt, the girl had been working hard lately!

The fox mares ears suddenly flicked back and she raised her head to nicker at her mate. She could hear him coming a mile off!

Turning she trotted towards him where she saw her daughter, "Hania, Aruna!" She nuzzled Hania's neck and then Aruna's. It was nice to see them both again! "Follow me, there is someone who might like to see you!"

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Hania nuzzled his mate back, happy to see her again. "Oh? And whom might this be? If you're playing tricks again on me with Swafi, Hiri, I'm not laughing again," he teased, and beckoned to his daughter.

Aruna smiled at her mother and nuzzled her back as well. "Someone new? You make friends so easily, Mother," Aruna said, chuckling. Her curiosity was peaked, however, and so she followed her mother to go see who it was.

Remove
Mahiri chuckled, "No Swafi is off somewhere! Come see!" She didn't say anything about her daughters remark, after all it wasn't everyday that they got to see Artemis!

As they reached the Teepee, Mahiri stood aside leaving Artemis, who was still drinking, in full view.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Hania stared for a second, startled. "Can it truly be...?" He recognized her immediately (for he wouldn't be a great father if he didn't know his children) and he gaped a bit, so surprised as he was. "Artemis...?" he finally breathed out. It was so startling to see his [long-lost] daughter. He hoped Aruna recognized her sister.

As Aruna approached, she noticed a brown mare drinking, and as she observed the mare, something in the back of her mind tingled with familiarity. However, she didn't quite recognize her until Hania said "Artemis" and she allowed a soft gasp to emerge from her mouth. Her sister? No, she was dreaming. But it was true. "Artemis?!" she cried out softly (for she was one to never say things loudly) and gawked. She was that surprised; she dropped her mask of indifference, after all.

Remove
Mahiri let out a small chuckle as she trotted towards Artemis. She saw her daughter more then her daughter saw anyone else but it was time they had a bit of a get together, if only Barin was around!

Artemis looked up and a smile crossed her face. She looked at her mother who nodded and then she bowed her head walking towards her father and sister. "Hello Father, Aruna..." She was a little timid, it was strange seeing family you hardly knew.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"What's this? My daughter, being afraid of me? Why, I'm hurt, dearest Artemis," Hania teased her gently as he walked over to where his mate and other daughter stood. "That's it! You should hang out with Aruna (preferably Bairn, actually, because I think Aruna might scare you with her friends...) more!" he smiled at her, and nuzzled her gently. He wanted to appear to Artemis as a father that cared.

Hania had whispered something that she couldn't hear, but she figured it was something teasing. She glared at her father, and then gave Artemis a half-tilted smile. "Hello, Artemis. I'm sorry I didn't recognize you right away. And don't worry about Father, he's a bit deprived from having fun since he hardly ever sees Mother anymore." She could feel her father's mocking-glare on her, but ignored it as she smiled a bit more to reassure her sister.

Remove
Mahiri walked over to Hania and nudged him, "Be nice!" She chuckled and nipped at his neck affectionatly. She seemed somewhat calm, different to her normal bouncy self but this was a moment to be calm, her family was pretty much all together, the thing was, Barin would be back soon enough and Artemis was rarely around, so this was something of a special moment.

Artemis watched her mother and then smiled at father, "As if it is possible to be scared of someone like you!" She then turned to her sister and chuckled, "Maybe they want a bit of alone time!" She laughed and winked at Aruna so that neither of their parents could see it.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"Do you really think that, Artemis?" Hania asked, feigning shock. He had been listening in. "And.. ow, Hiri, Okay, I'll be nice." He grinned, feeling happy. Today was most definitely special; after all, he had his family together, and Artemis was here. Too bad Bairn wasn't around.

Aruna smirked. "Yes, maybe Mother and Father would like to have alone time? Are we getting in the way?" She winked back at her sister. It felt good to finally get to know her sister. She herself was close with Bairn, but Aruna was thrilled to finally get to know her sister better.

Remove
Mahiri smiled, "Come on Hania" She whispered quietly, "Leave the girls to get to know each other." She then moved to go off into the forest, after all, they did need some alone time!

Artemis nodded and then watched her mother go off, she then turned to Aruna, "Ok, come on then. Take me somewhere so we can chat and move!" She wasn't keen on staying in one place, it was nice to get out and about!

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki

Hania mock-pouted. "Do I really have to?" He laughed, and nuzzled Mahiri. "Oh, all right. Have fun girls, but be careful, okay? If you have trouble, yell, okay?" He smiled at them, and followed after his mate. He really couldn't say no to her.

Aruna watched as her father left with her mother, and then turned to Artemis. "Well, how about we head over to one of my favorite places to hang out? It's where I've met a lot of different Soquili." She led the way, going in the opposite direction of their parents.

Remove
Artemis laughed as her mother and father went off before turning to her sister, "Sure, anywhere is fine with me! I need to meet some others anyway!" She let out a small chuckle before shifting about on her hooves. She still felt a little uncomfortable but as they moved slowly she shook her head, sending her curly mane flying in all directions.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki

"You act kind of like Mother and look like Father," Aruna commented, smiling. "But I'm sure you're altogether completely different from them, too. We all are." Aruna led Artemis to a secluded looking clearing, where many hooves (including hers and now Artemis's) had trampled over the grass and dirt, but it was pretty, for there was bubbling brook nearby, and many flowers of many colors all around, too.

Remove

Artemis listened and let out a small smile, "I am normally a little more calm and gentle but well, its different around your family, especially if you don't see them often!" She nickered happily and followed her sister, hoping maybe she will bump into someone else.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
((Taro is so awesome, Hime! <3))

"I completely agree. I'm different when I'm with family!" She laughed softly, and showed her the place she always came to. "In a way, this is almost a secret spot." She smiled at her sister. She was very gentle. "So, have you met anyone you like?" She asked, sounding casual but hoping Artemis caught the hint.

Remove
She smiled, "Secret hey?" She chuckled and shook her head, "No not in either way, what about you?" She tilted her head looking interested. She had to know if her sister had a guy, it was natural for sisters right?

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki

"Huh?" Aruna blinked, slightly startled. She forgot that the question would be fired back at her. "Sort of. I guess you can say I fell in love, and then... things happened and I haven't been too stable in that emotion." She smiled at her sister, trying to let Artemis know that she was fine.

Remove
Artemis listened and tilted her head, "Oh? What happened?" She trotted down to a small stream and drank a little, her mouth feeling somewhat dry, though whether that was nerves or something else, she wasn't quite sure.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna smiled sadly. "I think I have weird tastes, that's all." She didn't really feel like talking about it until the issue itself had settled. She had met Rahu again and again, but they could seem to get the problem fixed. "The problem isn't entirely fixed yet, so I'll tell you the whole story when it's all done and over with." She, too, was thirsty, and followed suit with her sister to have a drink.

Remove
"At least you have met others!" She slowly raised her head and looked around, she could see no one and it depressed her slightly. She wanted to make some friends, she was kind, gentle and was sure that she should have some friends!

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna smiled at her sister. "Friends? Only two or three, really. The others I'm at odd's ends with. I always argue with them." She laughed. "Trust me, I don't really consider them friends until we've actually agreed on something. With you, though, it's a wonder you don't have more friends than me!" Aruna knew her sister, now that she knew Artemis a little better, would have an easy time making friends. "I bet you know nicer Soquili I do!"

The Soft Red Dawn
PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
It was early morning, the time of day she was somewhat named after. She had stayed awake half the night, and she still wasn't all that tired. She usually napped during the long hours of the afternoon, anyway.

As she trotted, flicking her green-tipped tail from time to time, she spotted a cool, fresh spring not too far away, and with eagerness she usually didn't show, made her way quickly toward it. She was so thirsty! Thank goodness she found this spring.

ElvenWhispers
Chaleha was dozing by the stream.Hearing the morning birds, knowing she should wake up,but she just felt a little sleepy,a little lazy today for some reason.Perhaps it was because the weather had been so warm.Suddenly she heard the hoof falls, and that woke her up.She peered out of the bushes where she had bedded for the night.
To her surprise a Soquili mare approahed her,not wanting to startle her,she stepped forward from the brush.
"Hello! I am Chaleha."she announced sleepily.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Aruna blinked, startled, when a semi-red mare (similar colorings to her mother) appeared in front of her. "Well, hello, Chaleha," Aruna greeted, finally composing herself. The mare looked a little sleepy. Oh dear. "I'm called Aruna. I see that you're a bit sleepy this morning; but how are you?"

What more could she say? She didn't want to say that she herself was wide awake and a little bit shocked to find other Soquili around this time of the day (for who in their right mind would be up this early besides her?) and Aruna found it just a little amusing that it ended up being a half-asleep mare. Chaleha rang a bell in her mind, though. Where had she heard that name before?

ElvenWhispers
Sleepily Chaleha studied her details, such a lovely color of her coat, with the azure feathers to contrast,"Oh your featers really bring your color out in such a nice way." She realized she had not answered her question, but she could not remeber it,being only just woke up. She smiled,"Normally I am up and at 'em this early."yawns,"Just feeling a little tired after the heat of the last couple of days."

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"Well, thank you very much," Aruna said, eyeing her feathers, or at least trying her best to. There was a nice breeze blowing (thank goodness, it was kind of hot) and she nodded. "Yes, I see. I'm usually up and about as well, but I'm not as tired as you. I usually sleep from late morning to late afternoon, but those times are rare." She was still thinking about why Chaleha's name was familiar when it clicked. "Oh! Have you met my brother Bairn, or my friend Bliss?" She wanted to make sure she was hitting the mark right.

ElvenWhispers
Chaleha brightened at the mention of the name,"Yes I have met Bliss!! He is so nice, you know him, too?" Chaleha smiled at the thought of the sweet dark stallion."He does not like rain, and we had to run to my twolegger's teepee." Chaleha suddenly wondered,"Who are your herd,Aruna?" She moved forward to get a drink, realizing Aruna must be thirsty and here she was keeping her from her drink.

Aruna stooped to drink from the spring, and then straightened so that she could think over Chaleha's question and answer her properly. "I love the rain, and yes, I know Bliss. He's very sweet." She smiled at the thought of her friend. "He talks about you fondly. I was wondering why your name sounded familiar, so I had to ask.

"My herd? I don't have any herd, but I do have a gigantic "family" if you wanna put it that way. Why?" Aruna knew that if she was ever to be in a herd, she would only be in a herd run by her parents, of whom were both considering it, but she doubted they would want to. They were both very free, very wild, Soquili.

Yes, they had humans, but their humans allowed them to run free as they wanted, same with their children and Swafi and Bliss.

ElvenWhispers
Chaleha smiled at the memory of Bliss,"Oh,it just seems like a lot of the Soquili have herds.I have been wondering about herds, lately." And that was true she had seen quite a few of them moving through the area.Of course they were older established herds, and this was Soquili land."I don't understand everyone moving around as one." Chaleha was about wild herself."It is pretty safe to say I am about wild.I have my two legger, but she is my friend."

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"You and I are the same then," said Aruna, and tossed her mane over her neck. She was trying to get a better view of Chaleha without her mane getting the way. "I am most definitely wild and free. In a sense, I guess. I have my own human, but I think she'd rather stick to my father. He was her first, anyway."

ElvenWhispers
Chaleha smiled ,"Ah,yes well free is best I think. She shuffled her feet,"I never know where I am going and am always surprised when I get there!" She was excited to find another like herself. There were a few,but they always had other friedns and would wander off.She was interested to see if Aruna would wander off.Chaleha wondered and asked,"What have you discovered on your journies through the wild?"

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"Free and wild is nice," Aruna said. She had met many, many different Soquili; some from herds, others wild and free like her and Chaleha. "I've discovered things like certain emotions," Aruna began, speaking a little coldly as she thought about that one. "Oh, and I've met many different kinds of Soquili.

"You could say I have this obsession with winged Soquili," she said, cocking her head, feeling almost a little embarrassed. "They're always wild and free. None of them have gotten together in a herd, or at least, not for any that I've heard or seen." She decided to turn the question around. "What about you, Chaleha?"

ElvenWhispers
"Oh I find the winged Soquili so interesting, just imagine flying!!Chaleha glowed when talking of the winged Soquili. Chaleha glowed most of the time, with her happiness, always present."I noticed you had a bad moment there, talikng of emotions." Chaleha wondered what that was about, but she did not press her."You do not have to answer that obsurd question,it is none of my business."Still if someone had hurt her,she would like to know who,she had run into Rahu just yesterday, and he had not really hurt her feelings,as caused her to decide to ignore him from now on.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"Yes, aren't they just grand!?" Aruna picked up vigor whenever she spoke about the winged Soquili. "It would be awesome to fly and just soar the skies, feeling the breeze." She faltered when Chaleha mentioned her slight morbid emotion, and nodded. "Ah, I was just thinking about the past. I was in love with this jerk of a stallion, and because he rejected me so thoroughly, we're just mostly the best of friends now." She figured that would a good, succinct description. "He's usually moody, and always snaps at just about everyone." She rolled her eyes. "I think I've gotten through to him, but only when we're alone, just me and him." She smirked at Chaleha. "And you?"

ElvenWhispers
"I have feelings for several, but they always go for others."She thought of what to say about it,Micah was suspected of another, with his disappreances, and she thought of Bliss, which really were the only two stallions she had met.Other than Rahu, and that would be a moody existance, one she did not believe she could do."Actually that is not fair of me to say,I have friends, but I don't think I have been in love."Chaleha was not sure of the meaning of the term.
So she decided to change the subject alittle,"So Bliss has mentioned me?"She smiled to think of him,he was sweet and just so ,so,innocent.

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"Ah... Well, I don't wish to be in love anymore than once. It's painful..." she whispered, eyes clouding over as her mind drifted to another place. "I know many, many stallions. A lot of them I care for, but there's only one stallion who managed to snag my heart before breaking it into a million pieces." She blinked, and her eyes cleared. "I think I'm just going to... stay... away from that emotion for a while.

"And yes, Bliss talks about you. He talks about a lof us, actually, but he's so sweet and innocent, you can't get mad at him." Aruna chuckled, thinking back to her meeting with Bliss. He was very sweet, and so innocent, almost like a foal. She didn't mind foals and such, but Calamity might have ruined it for her had he not gotten taller lately and made up for himself with his new... look... in life. Okay, an improvement on his personality.

The Morning Flutters
Iris_virus
-Ashling yawned lightly, an unattractive move considering the grass and clover that hung less then daintily from his mouth. However since noone was around there was noone to be offended, and Ashling could care less.

It was boring out here, grazing by himself. He was beginning to wonder why he always travelled so far off from Nova and the village when he ate. But it was a simple enough thing to answer.. because on that rare occassion he did meet someone new, or find something exciting.

Twitching his tail gently he lowered his head for another soft n** at the grass at his feet, a heavy sigh escaping him.-

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Hania found himself yawning unexpectedly as he traveled out and away from his teepee home. Blinking, and wondering why he had yawned so suddenly, he ventured out further to find a younger... blue-ish purple colored... stallion with butterfly wings grazing.

The stallion was probably the one who had yawned, and Hania had caught the yawn afterwards. Rolling his eyes good-naturedly, he whickered a greeting to the odd-looking male.

Iris_virus
-Ears setting forward quickly with the sound, Ashling's head lifted and turned, a look of delight touching the 'overgrown colt' as the unfamilar equine's pelt touched his eyes. See! All he had to do was think about people and they'd show up. He'd just need to complain to himself more often from now on.

Returning the greeting with a soft nicker, he quickly finished up the last remains of food in his mouth, before troting in the direction of the unfamilar friend.- "Hello, hello!"

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Hania smiled at the younger stallion. It wasn't often that he got to meet a Flutter Soquili. "Hello, there," he replied, chuckling at the eagerness. He himself was excited; how long had it been since he had met a new Soquili? Very long indeed.

"I'm Hania," he said, blinking a bit. He still wasn't used to seeing butterfly wings on a Soquili, much less a stallion. In a way, it became the stallion before him very well.

Iris_virus
-Attempting to curb his enthusiams a little, Ashling settled before the older stallion, nodding gently at the greeting, wings giving a few soft flutters out of habit before settling gently in their place.

He was much more used to meeting females, or those who hadn't seen a soquili like himself before. So explaining himself or douting under attention was usually the way ice was broken. But this case seemed to be different. Digging for something to say, he pulled out the best he could, glancing upwards at the larger beast.- "Nice to meet ya. I'm Ashling."

"Come out to graze in the meadow as well? The grass is growing pretty nicely because of that last rainstorm we had."

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"So 'tis," Hania mused, eyeing the grass hungrily. "But if I eat, my daughters'll complain that I'm getting fat." He chuckled. "Just kidding. Though my mate blames my bonded to be the one feeding me too many apples.

"Anyway, Ashling, what brings you here to this place? It's been a while since I've seen a Flutter Soquili like yourself. I'm sure my daughter Aruna would love to meet you, if only to admire your wings."

The last Flutter he met had been such a long time ago, around the time when he had met his good friend Celendria. It was so long ago, he wondered if he would even remember the name of the Flutter mare.

Iris_virus
-Fat? And here he'd thought it was only the female that were getting fat. Maybe it wasn't as he'd thought before.. males forcing the mares to eat until their stomachs bulged. Perhaps it was something that could happen to him as well if Nova tried to feed him too many of those carrots? His eyes widened as the thoughts filtered through his head. But the laugh brought him back to reality, and he offered a mild grin.- "A mate and children eh? Did you raise them?"

"My basket was just given to one of the people in the village. It's.. nice. I think when the parents take care of the babies instead." -He'd still never met his own parents to this day. Didn't even know their names. He did know his sister though, and he supposed that was good enough.-

"Doing? Ohh... just looking for something to do I suppose. Grazing and looking for alittle company. You meet the most interesting people when you travel away from home."

-As his wings came back into the discussion he gave them another little flutter, before splaying them out for inspection.- "I wouldn't mind showing her sometime.. it always seems to amuse the mares and phillies."

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
"I don't think it'll amuse my daughter, but she would be most interested," Hania said, chuckling. He wondered why the mares and the fillies all seemed so fascinated with wings these days. "Yes, my mate and I raised our children. Of course, it was slightly difficult, seeing as my other daughter, Artemis, was given as a basket over to a friend of my mate's human.

"But we both managed to raise them all. However, they all turned out differently than us." Hania winked at Ashling, chuckling over his butterfly wings. "Yes, you do tend to meet some of the most interesting people when you travel away from home!" Hania couldn't think of a more pleasant time. Ashling was a nice stallion to have a good chat with. "Grazing and looking for company, eh? Well, you found both, it seems!" Hania laughed again. He loved the Flutter Soquili. They always found a way to make you laugh or let you feel cheerful.

Iris_virus
-Laughing a little, he pondered over the statement.- "A curious sort, is she? I can relate with that. I can't tell you how many days I've spent just thinking about things. Like why the green can rub off of the grass and onto you.. but the sky doesn't rub blue onto you."

"Well.. actually." -Glancing down at himself he laughed again.- "I guess I might not be able to tell if it actually did. But it doesn't seem to!."

-It seemed males were just as as good company as the females, and this older one in particular seemed very steep with knowledge of the world, and experiences he was lacking. What a treat.-

"My sister and I were given to people in different areas as well, but we still get together to play in the gardens when we can. She's very silly though, a better flier then I was when we were young however."

-Stomping a foot in soft agreement he nodded.- "Indeed I did! Though I hope your mate and children won't mind you're missing for awhile?"

PhoenixGuardianMikazuki
Hania chuckled. "Ho, if they missed me missing for a while, it would be a first. They miss me as I do them, but I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to wander away." He winked cheerfully. "It's good that you can still get together with your sister, even though you don't know your parents. Perhaps you should go a quest to find them?" Hania thought that if he knew who his own parents were, he would feel better, but he didn't know them. Oh, he had tried looking for them before, but it seemed he would never see or find or know them.

"I'm like you, Ashling, I don't know who my parents are, and I have no siblings." Hania flicked his tail. "Of course, now I'm over it, but I still wonder a lot of the time. And ho, you were searching, and I don't mind the company either. I have a question, though," Hania inquired, looking at Ashling's wings once more. "Could I see you fly? And what's it feel like, when you're flying? I've always wanted to know." His curiosity had moved on over to Aruna, it seemed, for his daughter was always wanting to know what it felt like to fly.
