He chuckled as a familiar thought appeared in his mind; it was of a joke he had not heard in a while, and he hoped that today would be joyous. The skies were a nice clear blue, meaning things were to go well for the rest of the day.

He had wandered off a bit by himself when he discovered that both his bonded and his daughter were gone from the teepee earlier that morning, and so, having nothing else to do, he wandered here, to what he now named Soquili Fields, for he had met many different Soquili there.

He stopped by a familiar looking stream and bent down to drink a bit, feeling oddly thirsty. He then stood, feeling slightly fidgety for he now itched to have something to do. He had gotten used to having company, and being alone wasn't something he liked to do anymore.

Morning, the next sweetest time of the day. Rain was feeling a bit tired, having just woken up from her nap, but as usual, she went out looking for adventure. Letting out a joyous nicker she began to walk, where, she did not know, but she just didn't feel like loping today.

Having little to do now that there was no Kalona to pester and muse over, Rain found escape in the fields. Little could find her out there in the tall grass and so she could peaceable take a nap or a long walk without worry.

Of course, then again, some stallion always sniffed her out one way or another. Not that she minded their company, but today was an alone kind of day.

As Hania walked around in the grassy field, he glanced a mare walking the fields as well. He blinked. Well, she didn't look like she wanted company... He sighed. He wouldn't be able to help himself, but he decided he'd greet her anyway. He'd leave her alone if she asked, however.

"Greetings," he said softly as he approached the mare. "How are you this morning?" He wouldn't introduce himself just yet. She reminded him of his "sister", Alona, when he had first met her. He observed her for a moment, but waited to hear what the mare might say.

Rain noticed the stallion early on and let out a sigh to herself long before his comming. No peace for her today. She changed her attitude quickly as he approached, breaking her face into a smile at his presense.

"Greetings," she replied her gaze focused upon him. "I am well. The day has been good to me. Yourself?" On any normal day she would have been bubbly and sprung for action, but today was a relaxing day and she felt no need to run quickly with the wind. Talking to him was simply because, nothing more.

Hania flinched. The mare sounded guarded, but polite. Uh oh. "...I'm glad to hear you're well," he said, smiling slightly. "By the way, you're new here, yes? If I am any bother to you, please feel free to say so. I'm called Hania. And you, good lady?"

As he was coming toward her, he had noticed she looked like she had wanted to be alone. Oh, Hania, you did it again, he thought despairingly. He quieted a moment, and stepped back. I think I'll take my leave soon... He hoped he didn't have to, but hey, he always honored a lady's wishes.

Rain blinked twice. This male sure did run off the words quickly. He switched form one topic to the next before she had any chance of responding to one. She paused and thought it over for a few long moments before she was able to speak again.

"New enough." She smiled at him and rotated an ear to examine her surroundings. "Your no bother at all. I'm just tired today, that's all. Its been a few long days.

"My name is Rain."
She repeated her name in nicker-tongue, one that she had a habit of doing. Names were better left alone to her, she used a much different form of calling others.

Her ears flicked back as a familiar laugh danced into her ears. Her face instantly brightened and she let out a loud nicker, turningher body towards the sound. Sure enough, bounding through the tall grass with a large grin on his face, was Little Creek. She neighed again as he came closer, dancing from foot to foot at the sight of her friend. He gave her a warm welcomming smile, then noticed the other Soq she was with. He kept his grin towards the other creature, but it was lessened slightly, if only out of respect.

"This is Little Creek, Hania. He doesn't bite," she added playfully.

"I'm Hania," he told her, in nicker-speak. He understood that she probably didn't like the other kind of language. When human laughter reached his ears, he turned in the direction of the sound. "Little Creek? Well, a pleasure!" He whinnied at Little Creek, and bowed. "I have a human friend too! Miakoda should be around, but she's shy of meeting others of her kind." Hania whickered out behind him, have sensed that his human had come back and had probably followed his hoofprints.

She winced when Hania whickered, knowing he had caught her. Straightening, she observed at a good distance the other two he was with. Another Soquili, a mare, and an Indian male. She said nothing, opting to merely stay quiet. However, she did give an eagle-call to Rain, in greeting, and nodded to Little Creek.

"As I said, quite shy. I think she's one of those, um, what do humans call it, outcasts?" Hania looked back over to Rain, smiling a bit. "I see. Maybe you are thirsty? There is a nice, clear, cool stream nearby, and it'll probably help you feel better." He turned to look back at Miakoda, who still stayed away at a fair distance. He whickered again, but she only shook her head. "There's gotta be a way to make her less... scared, I suppose," He somewhat muttered, more to himself than to Rain.

Rain's mood was brightening already. She didn't much mind his company now, but she wasn't quite to the point where she felt like running yet.

Little Creek grinned from ear to ear at the Soquili, offering his own bow in return. Though having no experience in the matter looked rather silly. When hearing of another like himself Little Creek poked his head around Hania's side to see just whom it was. She seemed shy, so he simply smiled at her and didn't make any moves to say hello. He would let her do that.

"Yes, I'm afraid they do call them outcasts. Those that do not fit in. Its a shame, really." She looked away, sadness in her eyes, memories of past events flashing over her mind. Her attention turned back to Hania when he spoke.

"Yes, I am a bit." She cocked an eyebrow at him at his comment atbout Miakoda. Perhaps . . . She nudged Little Creek, who quickly got the message and bounded onto her back. "Is it okay if I try and say hello to her?" Rain questioned, trying not to look at the female and scare her off.

Hania smiled. "I'll come with. She's not afraid of Soquili--loves them more than her life--but she's terribly shy around others." He turned to his teenage human friend, seeing her look startled when Little Creek jumped on Rain's back. "She also doesn't like riding on us, but there are times, such as emergencies."

She had seen Little Creek peek from around Hania to see her, and when he suddenly jumped on the mare, she gasped slightly. She hated to ride Soquili because she believed they should be free to do as they pleased. She blinked. They were coming toward her! Oh no, oh no, oh no... But the mare... the mare. She had to honor the mare, at least. And Hania was here. He'd protect her if she felt threatened. She mentally grimaced. Oh dear. She was an outcast; she shouldn't be interacting with any other Indians...

Rain nodded in understanding and began to walk slowly towards the female, not wanting to alarm the girl. Little Creek was trying to look as un-threatening as possible, though he never looked threatening anway, at least to Rain.

"I can see that she seems a bit nervous. If it would make her more comfortable Little Creek can get off." Rain flicked her tail and kicked her out her feet, the motion for Little Creek to get off. The Native simply nodded and slid off her back, giving her a pat on the neck and comming up beside her to walk as well.

Rain nickered her greetings to the mare and Little Creek put on the friendliest smile that he could muster.

Hania, reaching Miakoda first, stepped around her and turned, nudging her forward. "No, it's all right. But she'll probably greet you first." He twitched his ears back and forth as he watched Miakoda. He wanted to see if how she would react.

Miakoda tried not to get too close, even as she was pushed slightly by Hania. Nervously, she smiled at Little Creek, and then turned to the mare. She pulled out an apple, offering it as a special gift of friendship. She turned to Little Creek once more, and slightly less nervous thanks to his mare, she finally spoke. "...Hi! I'm Miakoda." She indicated her stallion behind her. "This... is Hania."

Hania blinked. "Wha... hey. She greeted Little Creek. And she spoke. The only others she's ever spoken to have been to my mate's humans..." He muttered a bit under his breath, and the smiled gratefully at Rain. "Thank you so much. If only I had met you and Little Creek sooner, she could get out of her shell. Take the apple she offered! It's very good!" He couldn't get enough of how Miakoda was getting less shy.

Rain nodded and motioned with her head for Little Creek to stop in his movements. She moved forwards first, to stand by the woman, offering some protection against Little Creek. She nickered joyfully as the apple was presented and took it with a grateful not of her head. The fruit was ripe, the flesh of the apple sweet as she bit into it. A smile spread across her maw, showing her like for the object.

Little Creeks smile only broadened when she spoke. "I'm Little Creek," he presented. He motioned towards Rain, "And this is Rain. I'm honored to meet you Miakoda. I hope we can come to be friends in the future?" He offered her a palm, though very slowly, a sign of his trust.

Her smile faded, Rain looked from Little Creek to Miakoda and back to Hania. It all seemed to be going well, for now. They hadn't seemed to startle the woman badly. When Hania spoke she smiled again. It was good to see she was helping. "I'm glad we could help. Its never good to hide for to long and I seem to have made two new friends."

Hania chuckled. "That's good to hear. I'm happy that you've helped her; she's helped me so much." Hania thought back to when he had been colt-napped by Miakoda's villagers' children, bullies of the poor girl, and had abandoned him in the forest. His memory had been locked away, and he had grown up thinking he was wild, with a mother who had either died or abandoned him. "I'm glad you like her gift! I think she brought more..." He winked at Rain, and nibbled gently on his human's shoulder.

Miakoda slowly smiled and nodded. "Hi, Little Creek, and Rain." She petted Rain gently, and offered--if slowly--a palm to Little Creek, telling him she trusted him. "Yes, let's become friends! I just hope I never dishonor you," she whispered the last quietly. She was an outcast, and being secluded from her kind she had become a very shy person. She giggled when Hania nibbled at her, and she pulled out an apple, winking secretly at Little Creek. "He's so greedy," she whispered, and laughed quietly. She felt more comfortable now, especially with the Soquili around her.

Hania whinnied gleefully as he accepted the apple, eating it quickly. "She's such a sucker for us Soquili," he said teasingly, not really meaning it, although it was quite true.

"As Little Creek has helped me," she surmised, smiling warmly. Rain had always loved apples, but strayed from them as she new they would make her fat. Not that she minded being a bit plump, but it was much harder to run in such situations and she preferred the grace and exhileration of complete freedom.

Rain nickered and nudged Miakoda's hand gently with her nose, showing she very much appreciated. "You won't," Little creek beamed and took her palm gently, before releasing it. He looked to Hania and then to Rain, as if making sure the both of them were okay. Rain chuckled to herself. Af is anything could happen to them in the minute he hadn't kept his watchful eye on her.

Taking the hint from Hania she also nibbled lightly on the Native's shoulder, giving a slight nicker as she did so. "I guess she's greedy, too," Takakun stated, patting the Soquili's neck. Rain tossed her main lovingly and stuck her nose to his. She laughed and brushed the hair away from her eyes.

"Now how about that drink?" Rain asked, turning her attention was more to Hania.

"Did he? Well, that's very nice to hear." He felt he was getting through to Rain as a friend, now, since earlier, she had seemed tired. He watched as she nickered to Miakoda, and when she asked about a drink, he smiled. "Of course. How rude of me, to have invited you, and not take you there right away. Come." He turned with a soft whinny to Miakoda, then turned to lead the way to the stream.

Miakoda giggled quietly at what Little Creek said, and then nodded to Hania. She smiled at Rain, and then asked, "What do you do during days like this?"
