Super Sailor Ymir

Not wanting to put himself too far ahead, Ymir waited because Surtur waited. He took the time to study the ropes before them, trying to determine the best way across. He took off his shoes before giving it a try, leaving said shoes there without much regard for what became of them after. They’d return to him in perfectly good condition the next time he transformed.

Unfortunately, none of his brief preparations were enough to help him across the ropes. He fell the several feet to the ground in a tangle of skinny limbs and voluminous butt bow. Muttering a series of Ymiran curses under his breath, Ymir climbed back up to try again.

Super Sailor Perdita

Perdita waited for Connie and Belmont. If she noticed anything between them, she very politely said nothing about it, merely smiled as she usually would and stuck close enough to Connie to offer help with Belmont if she needed it.

The ropes ahead of them gave her pause. Perdita was confident enough in herself to believe she had a decent chance of getting across without too much trouble, but she didn’t want to be too overconfident that she didn’t take the possibility of falling seriously. Not that it was a long fall, because it wasn’t, but doing well with the wall didn’t mean she’d do well with what came after.

“Good thing I already took off my shoes,” she said. “You guys might want to take off yours, too.”

Perdita wobbled across the ropes. It wasn’t the most graceful effort, but she made it without falling, and waited again for Connie and Belmont on the other side.

Connie, Squire of Chronos
Oh. Oh. Of course Connie would help Belmont! He didn’t even need to ask her, and of course she would help!

“You’ve got this!” she parroted as she reached down to take his hand. “You’ve been doing really good!”

But normally Belmont would have been able to clear something like this without extra help. It was a little concerning, and when she managed to help him up to the top and down the other side, she looked him over for any noticeable injury.

“Are you okay?” she asked quietly, eyes wide with concern. She didn’t want to go announcing that he wasn’t feeling well if he didn’t want that! But she did want to make sure he was okay.

As Perdita suggested, Connie reached down to tug off her shoes, because that was definitely the smartest idea!

“Perdita is so fast! Come on, I can help you with this one too!” she promised, deciding that if Belmont hadn’t told her what was wrong before that he either didn’t want to tell her, or didn’t think it was that important. Still, she couldn’t help but worry as she climbed up to the height of the ropes to start wobbling across.

Of course, she couldn't help Belmont if she was falling, herself!

"I'm okay!" she winced after the first time she fell, but quickly made it back to the top where the ropes were to try again.

Sailor Chibi Eupheme

“Hi Dering!” she chirped with enthusiasm, pleased that one of the older kids actually wanted to introduce themself, even if it was probably directed to Ganymede. It didn’t seem as though the Page of Ganymede was interested.

“I’m Eupheme. She her. I really like your hat!” His whole outfit was cute. But then again, she liked lots of colors and she liked drawing outfits with bright colors and the more colors there were obviously the better.

Oh, but they were supposed to be getting across the next obstacle. Which were ropes. She kept her shoes on, despite seeing a lot of others taking their off. She slipped a few times but managed to get it across!

Reims, Page of Ganymede
There were no words exchanged between them as Reims reached down to help Dering up the wall. Dering didn’t need to say anything for Reims to want to help him. Although he did his best to stand back and let Dering try to figure things out on his own.

For Reims, he didn’t care what Ganymede thought. If she was anything like Lysithea (or any adult with authority for that matter), then he wanted nothing to do with her. She seemed nice. Lysithea had as well. But in the end, adults always lost sight of what was actually needed by kids. Not that he and Dering were kids, but they were clearly treated as such.

“Watch your step,” he said, puffing out his chest as Ganymede pretty much said the same thing he had. Whatever. He didn’t care if she was offering assistance or warning. She had the Chibi to keep reined in.

This time Reims did have much better control over making it across. He waited on the other side with his hand outstretched for Dering to take in case he needed it.

Super Sailor Surtur

Surtur tried with all his might not to have any kind of reaction to Beira struggling over the wall. Maybe there was something enjoyable about Beira’s imperfection that made him more relatable. He could have offered to help, but he was trying not to be an obvious spectator, lest Beira decide he didn’t want to participate.

“Easy,” he warned Ymir with sympathy in his voice. Even without shoes, Ymir still struggled on the ropes. He doubted he would do any better.

Sure enough, and probably because he was too busy watching both Ymir and Beira's progress, Surtur found himself slipping on the ropes a few times.

"Perhaps we should avoid these kinds of obstacles in our future," he suggested once he finally made it across, although he took a moment to reach for Ymir's arm with a gentle touch to see if it was a shadow or bruise or scrape that discolored his pale skin.

Belmont, Squire of Jupiter
Total: 8

“Ah,” Belmont had sighed, and considered that maybe it would have taken too long to take off his boots. He could probably clear this without doing that, right? But he didn’t have to worry about heels or anything, he had boots.

He’d rough it.

In the end, it worked in his favor. He wobbled a bit, but when he twisted or hopped in just the right way, he managed to make it across.

Poor Connie, but really–how could anyone make it across when drenched? All that extra weight had to be throwing her off balance. He’d only smiled when she asked about his well-being, not so much because he wasn’t willing to tell but because it wasn’t that big of a deal. He did offer a quick word of thanks, though.

“Perdita, you’re really a jack of all trades, aren’t you?” he laughed as he joined her on the other side.

“Connie, you’re doing great! Do you need help wringing out those skirts? Don’t fall again, that’s how I busted up my shoulder. Well, not quite. I slipped off a building, sort of. This isn’t that high. Hold your arms out, it might help you balance a little better.”

Dering, Squire of Lysithea
Total: 6

Ganymede was so graceful. She arrived behind them like this was the most natural thing in the world. Dering flushed, but he was grateful that Reims had helped him up without any fussing. Maybe it was because he was flustered, or maybe it was just because everyone else was doing so well that he psyched himself out, but failure was probably inevitable.

Dering did his best. He stepped carefully, he tried to balance on the rope. He slipped.

And that meant having to climb back up. Only, this time Reims wasn’t there to help him.

He might as well have hung his head in shame, though only a sigh escaped. He let himself be down about it for just a moment before he stood, squared his shoulders, and tried again.

This time, he made it back up without too much trouble. He looked apologetically at Ganymede because he really wasn’t representing the other Knights his age right now.

He’d taken her advice, and Reims’! He’d gone slow! Maybe too slow. His face was burning but not from exertion.

“You two are really good at this!” he called to Eupheme and Reims. Athletics weren’t his forte but he hadn’t realized he was this bad!

But, he knew he had support. On Dering’s second try, he made it–although, he very nearly missed making it far enough to reach solid ground. He accepted Reims’ hand just before he stumbled down again and managed to pull himself over to stand next to him.

Beira, Super Senshi of Loneliness
Total: 12

There was something tender in the way that Surtur examined Ymir’s arm, and Beira briefly wondered if it was just one of Surtur’s unique approaches to things or if there was something more between the two. He cast his gaze elsewhere, as if to give them a moment of privacy.

The forced focus he put on the rope in front of him was a blessing; in his extreme efforts to be unobtrusive, he managed to balance quite easily on the rope as he made his way across. He held his hands out just slightly to balance himself.

At least it was something positive to make up for his inability to scale a wall. Maybe, if he’d tried hard enough, he could have jumped over this, but given that he couldn’t jump up the wall well enough, he doubted it.

It was a small victory, but one he needed all the same. Ymir and Surtur seemed in good enough shape, and though he was still giving them a bit of space–just in case–he found himself wondering how they had met. It was easy to assume Surtur had shown up one day and declared them friends; he had such a boisterous, affable presence that he could imagine it with little effort.

Sailor Procyon // DSS of Liminality

Training grounds, this was something new and Procyon approached it with a lot of energy. So there would be obstacles and things to cross, something he wasn't exactly sure of but he was going to try his best.

Coming up to a river, or creek, he wasn't exactly sure, Procyon saw the stones and went for it. His lack of height didn't really help, if anything it was pretty hard to make it between the stones. Taking his time, things went as well as they could until he reached the edge.

What looked like a clear jump had ended a bit too long and he found himself landing in the water. Digging into the bank with his heels and reaching for the edge with his arms, he kept himself from getting pulled downstream before pulling himself up and out to continue on.

It was a challenge but he felt a bit proud of himself at the fact he'd made it across as he saw another senshi getting swept away.

Sailor Procyon // DSS of Liminality

After wiping himself dry as much as he could and wringing a bit of the water from his hair, Procyon looked up at the next obstacle and felt very small. There was no way he'd be able to reach the top even as he noticed the little things that looked like they were supposed to help him make his way to the top.

A running start felt like a good idea and he tried it, only to find himself reaching up with his less-than-responsive arm and sliding back down to the ground. It had been his dominant one in the past and he was still getting used to using his left arm for things that needed strength or dexterity.

Running back towards the edge of the river, he tried again and this time felt his fingers almost grip the edge before he slid back down to the ground with a thud. It was a bit frustrating but he kept trying, varying how fast he ran or how he tried to angle his jump. Persistence was key here and he knew he had that right now.

Eventually, he made it over and took a moment to sit down on the stone platform and watch as others struggled with the wall.

Sailor Procyon // DSS of Liminality

Turning to face forward, he noticed the next obstacle and felt extremely relieved. It looked familiar, almost like the tightropes he'd walk and dance over for certain ceremonies or even for fun on his world. Standing back up, he dusted himself off and took a testing step onto the rope to check how taught it was.

This was a time when he was happy to be small and light because it felt very sturdy beneath him. Making his way between the zigzagged ropes, he smiled and had a bit of fun showing off. There were no missteps or even moments of uncertainty for him when it came to this and it was a lot of fun. It reminded him of something he missed so he'd look forward to this maybe coming up again in the future.

Sailor Procyon // DSS of Liminality

There wasn't a pause or anything when he saw the zipline at the end, more than anything he let out a shout of excitement as he untied the rope and jumped. It felt freeing as he zipped through the air and had him smiling widely.

He would definitely tell Illyria how fun this had been when he got a moment too, he really did enjoy talking with the Mauvian about things and learning about all sorts of new things they would bring up. It might be nice to let her know a bit about his planet at some point too but maybe not just yet.

Landing on the ground at the end, he let go of the rope and stretched a bit. The rushing wind had finished drying him off and he felt much better and ready for whatever came next.

Deep Space Selinuir

Along the path he continued, having decided it wasn't a matter of his age but just being out of shape, he hadn't hunted or run through a forest in a long time. He hadn't pushed himself to any sort of limit in a very long time, he hadn't been able to, and that was why this was so difficult for him. He would work on it - work on himself. He'd already decided this by the time he came across the zipline, though he didn't know what it was called, he did get the idea of what to do. Grasping the handle he pushed off but not with enough force, since he hadn't came at it from a run. he had to wiggle and swing himself till it got really moving. When he finally made it across to the other side he landed lightly on his feet and took off towards the finish line. There wasn't anything else - right? Nothing else was in sight, just the finish line, and he hurried his way towards it. Yes, he was going to work out more as soon as he could...in private on his home planet. Because he was still a private being.

Transcended Eternal Sailor Ganymede

Ganymede waited until Eupheme and the two knights had gotten across successfully (with varying degrees of difficulty) before taking her turn. She paused to take her boots off (those heels certainly wouldn’t do her any favors) and followed her own advice, taking the ropes slowly.

She still fell.

Ganymede blinked a bit after hitting the ground, startled to have actually fallen. Her balance was usually excellent, but then it wasn’t as if she’d walked across ropes before.

With a laugh, she got up again. “That’s what I get for being too confident.”

It took longer than she’d expected, but eventually she got across to the other three, not at all embarrassed. “Well, that wasn’t so bad, was it? You three did great.”
