Birthday Surprise
Today was a special day. It was a day she always forgot about. The day she was born. Some how it was never very important to her. Not that her parents never made a spectacle of it. Since they definitely did. She remembers her sweet sixteen like it was yesterday...
She woke up and before she knew it she was bombarded with confetti and her room was decorated with decorations of all kinds. She stretched and looked all around with a smile. Her parents were definitely going overboard, but then again this was their first sweet sixteen. Since neither of their families had ever had one for them. She yawned and slowly got out of bed. Her parents really knew how to decorate and not to mention make her feel special.
She walked over towards her desk to check her phone but to her surprise their was a box right next to it. It had rainbow shiny circles on the wrapping paper and on top It had a note on it..
Put this on and we'll see you downstairs.
love mom & dad.
P.S. Happy Birthday dear!

"Oh my," she said excitedly as she unwrapped it carefully. Inside was the most beautiful outfit she had ever seen. It was a white lace like top with a bright pink ruffled skirt attached to it. Below that was a blue jean jacket with a white laced flower backed. She pulled it all out and squealed. It was all so gorgeous and the closer she looked she noticed the skirt even sparkled like the night sky. Right underneath it was a purse to match it almost looked like it was covered in pink diamonds and it was the shape of a cupcake. One of her favorite things in the world. She rushed to put it on and twirled in the mirror. it was perfect. She looked herself up and down so many times. Her mom had to call down to her and tell her the last piece was by the mirror.
At first she was super confused, but then she saw the beautiful leather cowgirl boots. It really was the last piece needed. She hugged them, threw them on, and rushed down stairs with her beautiful outfit complete. "Thank you Mama! Papa!" she said as she ran down the stairs and hugged them both tightly. Her sweet sixteen was off to a great start and that wasn't even close to the end or beginning. (412 words to here)
Her parents both looked at her with a smile she could never forget. They both commented on how big she'd gotten and how they can't believe how time flew by. How it felt like it was just yesterday and they were holding her in their arms. Her father called her their little angel. That was when she smelled it. "Dad are you cooking something?" she said as he quickly rushed to the stove. He grabbed the pan flipped the pancakes and then placed them on the colorful plates on the counter right next to the stove. The pancakes were super fluffy and shaped like cute animals. She watched as he then added some whipped cream topped with strawberries and bananas.
They looked amazing, and she watched as her dad placed them on the counter top table. That was when she noticed it was also decorated for her occasion with a special cup just for her. It said Birthday girl! Though that wasn't the best part, for her it was just getting to see her parents together. They were wonderful parents, but their busy schedules didn't give them much time together. Her mom was normally in Paris and her dad in places like Japan or France. Not to today though today they were here eating pancakes and smiling. Which made her so happy as she finished her meal. She jokingly said -
"Whats next?" she jumped off her stool chair and was ready to go.
She really hadn't expected anything much, but her answer was met with more excitement. "Well ..." her father said jokingly, "I was thinking about an international baking event. What do you have to say about that?"
Her mouth dropped open - was he joking she had only ever dreamer about. Of course her dream was to be in it one day, but she always still wanted to see those wonderful bakers. The way they baked was like they were writing their own songs. With each whisk and whip their songs were created. She could never take her eyes away and that was just on the television watching her fathers competitions. To see it in person she couldn't even imagine as she closed her mouth she jumped up from her chair smiling. "Well what are we waiting for!? Lets go!" she said happily as she waited for her dreams to come true and maybe she'd even get to watch her dad.
Since what a lot of people in their bakery didn't know is while her dad was an amazing chief not just in title but in much more. He never really went all out in their bakery's kitchen - he just had fun. Which was while he was smiling all the time when he baked there. He even had crazy competitions with her. Like who could make the biggest treat, or the purplest, or the most on fire dessert. Crazy things that would make others believe he was just making it all up and was some crazy guy.
They just didn't know everything about him.
His competition side - there he was like he was a god of flames. He was intense and every chief seemed to want to compete against him. Even if they fell to their knees they wanted to enter his world just for a moment. One moment was what most everyone who competed against him had. Since his win lose ratio was almost non-existent.
As he told her once though cooking at home he can have fun and be himself. Where as in competition it was just that - a competition on who was the best and while he had changed in the years since she had been born. At last that's what everyone who knew him said He was still amazing the greatest chief around or so she believed anyways. After all why would someone dream to compete against him it he wasn't.
Her birthday was turning out to be amazing, and just seeing her parents here. Happy, and so excited about a day they had welcomed a new face into their family. Her. While her family was crazy and always flying off somewhere. She was so happy this was the family she was born into.
As She waited for her parents to join her she smiled brighter than ever and then exited the door. Off onto the next part of her amazing birthday.
