Rolled: 4 As you stand next in line for your turn for a ride, a beautiful stallion soon arrives to the waiting area, pulling behind it an ornate, elegant looking carriage cart. Despite having taken several rides before you, the horse seems to be full of energy and the driver as cheerful as ever. The party before you leaves the ride, so now it's your turn to hop on!
Dawn (Kakure) waited patiently for her turn at the Carriage Ride. She was one of the last of the Special Rides- as they were giving out Charity Rides to foster children. Charity… she shivered… she hated the word, hated receiving it even more, but a free winter Carriage Ride? Who would give that up? It was just about her turn, when someone rudely jostled her from behind. “Sorry,” they muttered. She ignored them, even when they made some kind of comment about Charity Cases. Be the better person, Laurie was always telling her. She stepped up into the Carriage for her ride.
Rolled: 3 Prompt 2 Pulling the provided blanket onto your lap, it's time for your ride to begin!
…… or it would be, but your driver is quickly dismounting from his seat, apologizing profusely as he feels the need to visit the restroom prior to leaving. Ah, well, a few minutes wait won't hurt, right?
Your horse seems to think otherwise, though, as not seconds after the driver reaches for the horse's reins to tie them up, the stallion seems to be spooked by something that no one else sees. With a terrified whinny, he rears up and begins a sprint - carrying you behind in tow!
It looks like your adventure is beginning - but without a driver!
Dawn attempted to jump out of the Carriage before it run away with her in it but proved incapable as she hit her head on the back of the Carriage with a nice thunk. She fell to the floor with a large lump on her noggin that warned her to keep her arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times, thank you very much. The stallion whined to her about it and kept going at break-neck speed. Well, what was she supposed to do now? She didn’t have a phone, she was supposed to get one next week. And she didn’t dare try to get up again, did she? Besides, her head was pounding.
She was bouncing, leaping with excitement, Aidan, Hope, and Jada with her. Blonde curls bounced, a delightful litany of woodland animals starting to line up to watch her- even Giulia had noticed, at this point, that she was being... stalked. None of them could rightly say when it had started, but slowly, the family had been gathering a following. Giulia, of course, was delighted, though Jada was less so. Aidan was just worried there were going to be fleas, or rabies, or something. The line for the sleigh ride had been surprisingly short, and the four of them scrambled into the carriage- Giulia first, then Aidan, then Hope, and Jada last.
The stallion pranced, and Giulia turned to stare at the woodland creatures that seemed so eager to be stalking the carriage. Giulia waved to the people still in line, as a bird fluttered down, the bravest of the creatures. Oh- oh! “I'm a real Disney princess,” she sighed to them, “this is going to be the best Christmas ever, don't you think?”
“Not if you catch the avian flu.” Aidan's voice was dry, disgruntled. He reached out, pushing Hope's chubby little hand down as the toddler reached for the bird. “Non, ma cocotte, you'll catch something.”
Prompt 1 - All Aboard!
As you stand next in line for your turn for a ride, a beautiful stallion soon arrives to the waiting area, pulling behind it an ornate, elegant looking carriage cart. Despite having taken several rides before you, the horse seems to be full of energy and the driver as cheerful as ever. The party before you leaves the ride, so now it's your turn to hop on!
1-3: Your foot rises to the step but thanks to your snow-covered shoe, you manage to slip and fall backwards, right into the snow. Embarrassed and now slightly damp, you hurry your way up into the carriage before even more people notice your embarrassing blunder.
4-6: Someone behind you manages to bump into you, no doubt an impatient customer waiting for their turn to ride the romantic looking carriage. Being the better person, you ignore their existence and climb your way up onto the cart.
7-10: You rise up into the carriage effortlessly and settle in onto the comfortable seat cushion. A vibrantly colored cardinal flies down, perching on the side of the cart before serenading you with a delightful tune. What a way to start a fun adventure!

Giulia 2 - 10 + 9
She would, it seemed, have a while to wait, though. She was still settling into her seat, the blanket just tucked over her legs, when the driver dismounted, full of apologies. It was fine, they all assured him, and he began to reach out for the horse's reins, as- was that a deer? What on earth was- The carriage burst into movement, Hope starting to rock forward, until Aidan and Jada caught her, tucking her securely between them. Forest animals scampered away, possibly spooked by whatever had gotten to the horse, and Giulia clung to her blanket, eyes peering out over the quick-passing terrain. “I wish carriages had seat belts,” Giulia reflected, hair billowing out behind them, “I'd feel much more safe.”
Prompt 2 - Rides Will Resume Shortly... Woah! Wait!
Pulling the provided blanket onto your lap, it's time for your ride to begin!
1-3: In an attempt to jump out of the carriage before it can run away with you inside, you lose your balance and fall backwards. With a loud thunk, your head hits the back end of the wooden lining, leaving a painful lump and a reminder to keep hands and legs inside the vehicle at all times - ouch!
4-6: The start of your ride has proven to be far more bumpy than you intended. You grab on to whatever you can as the cart lurches forward and to the side, tossing you around. Hopefully you don't get motion sickness very easily...
7-10: The sudden breeze whooshes through your hair, somehow making it look even more beautiful than it already looked. Although you've been tossed into a startling situation, you're at least comfortable beneath the thick blanket as the carriage goes careening down the hill.
Though it seemed that the seatbelt was actually likely to be a bad thing- that realization came quickly, as the carriage began to approach the forest. A forest meant trees. A forest meant- “TREES!” Giulia shrieked, and panicked. She saw Jada push Aidan and Hope down, and dove herself, into the bottom of the cart. Hope, of course, started wailing immediately; Jada fell heavily beside them, and there were three shrieks of terror to see that there was blood on the side of her face.
“Stay down!” the older woman ordered, and kept the blanket over them, the sound of branches whacking over the top of the carriage.
“This isn't a safe ride,” Giulia shrieked out her decision, almost in a panic, as Aidan tried to deal with their shrieking niece, and it sounded like Jada was getting beaten up by mother nature- “I think that maybe we should stop going to big festivals and stuff. Things always go wrong.”
“YOU THINK?” her brother snarked back, pressing kisses to Hope's dark curls, “Your powers of observation are really good, Giulia.”
“Can we maybe do this later?” Jada sounded exhausted, and popped a hand over both their mouths, kissing Hope on the forehead. “Just stay down.”
Prompt 3 - Forest of No Return??
The carriage heads straight for the dense forest in front of you, the poor stallion still running at top notch speed away from.. well, whatever initially spooked the beast. As the vehicle lurches and rocks from side to side, you find that there's an even more ominous threat laying straight ahead of you.
Rather -- right at eye level with you!
Branches loom in the air like spindly, gnarled fingers reaching for you and you'll have to utilize your best dodging skills to avoid getting smacked (or worse!)
1-3: As you manage to duck away from the network of thin branches reaching out for you, you fail to see the HUGE one coming at you from the other angle. It's practically a log in mid-air and you feel the impact of the thick wood as it crashes against the side of your head. Your vision goes blurry and you're thrown down to the bottom of the carriage - yikes. Maybe you should stay down there for the next while.
4-6: Ducking and dodging comes pretty easily for you. While you still get nicked and scraped a bit from the smaller, harder to see branches, you manage to come out of the forest fairly intact.
7-10: Using your superior intellect, you immediately duck towards the bottom of the carriage and throw the comfortable blanket over your head, protecting you from the rough and scratchy branches up above. What a clever person you are!

Giulia 4 - 10 + 9 + 9 + 9
Jada's weight was pulling off of them, their sister warily looking overhead before pulling herself up on the seat, reaching out to grab her daughter and tug the toddler up next to her. Giulia was next, and as she rose, a long howl spilled over the woods. They all stiffened, as Hope clung to Jada's neck, and babbled out- “Woof.”
“Wolf,” Giulia's corrected, “wo-luh-f.” It was lucky, then, that they lurched forward, and something near Giulia's hand snapped, and she had a big branch there. Oh, someone liked her today. How lucky! The tiny blonde rose up, staring at the hungry, angry animal stalkers, this time, and with a roar, she swiped out at them. They weren't going to eat her! They wouldn't eat her brother, or her sister, or her cute little niece! She was Sailor Charybdis, and even if she couldn't transform here, she was gonna do what she could and keep everyone safe! So BOO BAD WOLFS! (Wolves?)
Prompt 4 - Wolves? No one said anything about wolves...
Just as you think you've made your way out of the worst of the forest, a series of ominous howls close by assures you that you definitely have not seen the worst. It doesn't take long for the wolves to appear from within the shadows. Golden eyes and snarling fangs begin the chase - whether they're going after your poor horse or after you is still yet to be determined.
Let's just hope your horse still has some energy left in him to get you out of this bind.
1-3: Leaning over, you decide the best course of action is to toss out any unnecessary items to help lighten the load. While it was a good idea in theory, one especially hungry wolf decides that your flailing hand is the perfect target for its next meal. You're able to draw back your hand quick enough but not fast enough not to get a pretty nasty bite -- oh no!!!
4-6: Grabbing your shoe from off your foot (or your partner's, if it's easier to access), you promptly smack the closest wolf on the snout with the rubber sole. It lets out a sorrowful cry, its mate quick to the rescue by snatching the shoe from out of your hand. You managed to scare at least two of them off but at the cost of your footwear. Congrats....?
7-10: A wayward branch passes by you as your carriage lurches forward, fortuitously finding its way into your hand and snapping clean off the tree it came from. As if a gift from some higher being, you take advantage of this blessing and use your new "weapon" to fend you (and possibly any loved ones) from the ravenous wolves around your carriage.
The branch was a ruin by the time the wolves fell back- sharp teeth, sharp claws, angry, hungry beasts. Panting, foaming jaws, and NOT the kind of wildlife that had been traipsing along in Giulia's wake this afternoon. She was almost weeping when the beasts moved away at last, and her small, slim shoulders sagged in relief. However temporary. The sound of water hit her ears, and Giulia felt her shoulders shake- as Aidan howled with hysterical laughter.
“What else can go wrong?” he cried out; “We're going to DIE, like on Oregon trail!”
“DIE!” Hope yowled back at him, patting Jada's bloody cheek. “DIE!”
“We're not going to die!” Giulia snapped at them both, and yanked her blanket more tightly around her, as the stallion plunged into the water without hesitation.
“Jada dies of dystentery,” their older sister mused, and her knuckles were white from how tightly they clung to the sides of the carriage, as water splashed up and soaked bits of their clothing, seeping through Giulia's coat and other protections.
Prompt 5 - Sink or Swim!
The wolves seem to fall back and you're grateful for whatever reason they decided to abandon their hunt... until you glance back towards the front of the carriage and see the choppy water of the cold, rushing river ahead of you. Your horse doesn't seem to think about the potential of drowning as it drags you and your vehicle into the water, splashing as he tromps his way forward.
Time to decide whether or not you're going to sink or swim!
1-3: You hold your breath with the impending fear of being swept away by the current as the water overtakes the carriage. In your worry of being pushed out by the water, you don't actually think about how long you've been holding your breath and before you know it, you (choose):
Grow faint and dizzy. In a few more seconds, you're passing out onto the floor of the carriage.
Manage to exhale but an extremely floppy trout comes sailing out of the water and smacks you on the side of the head, knocking you out cold.
Either way, you fail to wake up until the carriage reaches the other side of the river.
4-6: The carriage shakes and wobbles against the rushing current but your stallion proves stronger than the water and manages to carry him and you forward and across the river. Water does manage to come splashing in and soak your clothing but at least you didn't drown, right?
7-10: Curling up as tightly as you can, you somehow manage to miss every wayward drop of water that splashes nearby. Maybe you're just in the right spot in the carriage or maybe the timing is just right but you make it out of the river just as dry as you were when you went into it.

Giulia 6 - 10 + 9 + 9 + 9 + 5 + 9 = 51
They were all shivering and wet by the time that the horse left the river, the carriage worse for wear but solid, their clothing all soaked, and the blankets... well. The blankets were wrapped around Hope first, and Aidan and Giulia sandwiched on either side of them. Jada's coat was pulled off as well, the best of it all, and was tucked around their three bodies as best it could be. The carriage was pulled with confidence, the animal hitched to it no longer in a blind panic; the family in the carriage clung to each other, considerably less certain about where they were going. Or how to get back. They were cold, wet, scared, and at least three of them were full of regret for coming on this adventure.
The field where the stallion stopped at last was lovely, and full of flowers. Giulia didn’t care- not this time. It was odd, and beautiful, and awful. Her sister was huddled in on herself from cold, focusing on keeping the three kids warm, Hope was weeping, Aidan had blue lips... but Giulia still began to relax, with no sign of danger here. Things had to get better from here, right? Maybe... they could use GPS and get the horse moving again? Or had their phones been wrecked in the adventure?
Prompt 6 - At least the horse knows its way...
As the stallion leaves the river and climbs his way back up onto the banks, he seems to finally be tuckered out from all of the excitement and exercise. Although his trot is significantly slower, the animal seems to know where it's going and soon you're approaching a small field with an array of flowers - an odd sight to see in the middle of winter but it's there, nevertheless.
As the beast comes to a halt to begin munching on a few of the colorful flowers, a small, sparkly burst of color zips by your head and for a second, you wonder if your tired mind is playing tricks on you.
1-3: You can't seem to figure out what the sparkle was but the sudden chill in the air has you pulling up the blanket over your shoulders out of habit... only to discover that it was soaked by the river ride. Ugh.
4-6: There's a small giggle in the air but like the light, it vanishes without a trace. Your horse seems relatively more soothed than the beginning of your adventure and for the first time in what feels like forever, you're able to relax in your cart.
7-10: More small balls of light whiz by your head as you sit in the now-still cart. They look like fireflies but larger; it's hard to get a good look at them with the way they're bouncing around but it's fascinating to watch all the same.
The carriage heads straight for the dense forest in front of you, the poor stallion still running at top notch speed away from.. well, whatever initially spooked the beast. As the vehicle lurches and rocks from side to side, you find that there's an even more ominous threat laying straight ahead of you.

This blanket was not helping her calm down at all as she watched it heading straight for a forest. Part of her wanted to close her eyes but instead she just hung on for dear life. This stallion showed no sign of slowing down even as the carriage bumped all around. She couldn't believe it, and to make matters worse she saw danger ahead. "Hey pony watch out!" she screamed hoping the stallion could hear her. She didn't want the branches to get them and right as she thought about the pony she noticed she was in danger too.
"Sh..." she said as she quickly grabbed the blanket put it over her head and dove onto the floor to dodge them. luckily it worked and the blanket saved her. She didn't have a scratch but who knew what lied ahead.

Taking the blanket off her head. she finally looked back out the window and to her surprise they were out of what looked like the worst of the forest ride. Or so she thought. Then she heard howls lots of creepy sounded howls. "Oh great..." she whispered as she hugged the blanket in her arms. This ride was like the fairy tale nitemare ride.
And just when she thought it was over. Here came the owners of those howls. Wolves. Not only that but they came out of the shadows just like in a horror film. Glowing eyes, claws, and sharp teeth - the better to eat her or the horse with.
As she looked around the carriage for anything she could use she noticed some food. As she set the blanket down she began to toss it out. Hoping the wolves would go after that instead. but just as she was throwing the last of it - a wolf launched at her. She tried to pull back but her hand wasn't fast enough. It bite her but thankfully she was able to shake them off. Though the bite hurts and looks horrible. She grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around her hand and then had to bite on a piece of it to hold in the pain.
Hopefully this wouldn't be something where she turned into a werewolf, but right now she just wanted to forget the pain.

As Amigar bit down on the blanket harder she looked out the window and noticed the wolves retreating. she was so happy - maybe this ride from hell would be able to finally be peaceful. Then she looked ahead - or not. There was more.
She closed her eyes as she felt the horse enter the cold waters. This horse was crazy. She was half afraid she was going to die at this point if not from the bite this crazy horse.
She could feel the carriage rocking back and forth and then some water seeped in the carriage. She quickly tried to pull her legs up onto the area she was sitting but not before her shoes and stockings got soaked.
"Please horse dont let us die here," she thought in her head as she felt them finally exit the waters somehow. Her wish had been answered. They weren't dead but if this trip had taught her anything what came next was probably going to be worse.

As she got prepared for what came next she could feel the carriage slowing down. Maybe he was finally tired and done running. it only took him the whole insane ride she thought. as she tried to forget about the pain in her hand.
Then she could notice he looked like he was heading in a familiar direction. or well familiar to him anyways as they suddenly entered a beautiful field of flowers. something you should definitely not see during winter time. it was beautiful and for a moment her pain was gone as she felt him stop to munch on some flowers. As she gazed out into the field she noticed a sparkle or something and then a cold breeze blew towards her. she didn't know what it was but her gut didn't like it.
"Oh shoot.." she thought as she took the remainder of the blanket and pulled it over her head. She wasn't dying today, or maybe she would of cold. Since the second she did she found out the bottom of the blanket was as soaked as her shoes. "great..." she thought in her head. She just wanted this ride to be over at this point.
They were still shaking, quivering, when the sound of wheels and hooves approached. “Are you okay?” the hail was loud, and a man rushed over to the carriage, grabbing the stallions reins and tying them to his own carriage.
Blankets, coats- these things were shared, as they were handed from one carriage to the other, children first.
A redheaded man offered Jada his coat and scarf, and she took them gratefully, lips quivering with cold. Hope was held against a lilac-haired older woman, who cooed gently to her; Giulia and Aidan tucked against each other, smothered in a blanket. “W-We're going to be ok-ok-okay now,” Giulia chattered, as they made their way back.
“Why is that, sweetheart?” the woman asked, and Giulia sighed, pointing at the deer placidly following the carriage.
“They're back.” Whatever had caused the woodland creatures to come- at least she knew the wolves were gone.

She was officially in pain, cold, and wet. Shivering she just wanted to go home at this point and sit by the nice warm fire.
if almost as an answer to her thoughts she felt someone take the horses rein. As she looked outside she noticed another carriage. She didn't care how or why they were hear but she was so happy they were.
She saw the doors open and the driver came and helped her down. He offered her a warm blanket and took the old one. Sadly it exposed her hand which thankfully the driver was able to run to the front and grab some stuff to fix it up with. Before she knew it her hand was bandaged up and he helped her into the new carriage. "thank you," she said trying to hold back tears of joy to be out of that hellish carriage.
As she sat next to the riders she smiled and said, "Sorry to intrude." before taking her eyes and just leaning against the carriage as it began to move.
She must have dozed off since next thing she remembered was waking up to the sound of the carriage and horse coming to a stop. She had no idea how long she must have slept but it must have been at least a few minutes since her nerves were calmed down.As she saw the door open she quickly got out and was thankful to have help from the driver since her legs were still shaking even after the warm blanket.
He told her to keep it since she obviously needed it and she again smiled and waved as she headed home. It would be a long time before she ever wanted to step into one of those again, if ever. Since that ride was one she would never forget she thought as she headed home and couldn't wait to change clothes, sit on a comfy couch, and watch the fire to forget about her crazy nitemare of an adventure.

Bernard wanted to say something to the poor lady, but it seemed that the both of them were a bit too scared to do anything while the horse continued to gallop and headed straight into a dense forest! Oh if only he could become a human! Perhaps he could then stop the horse himself!
He looked over to Etoile. "Well my dear, it seems that this might not have been the best idea after all." He said, only barely managing to dodge some smaller branches.
What he didn't realize was when he turned to talk to Etoile, he missed the largest branch of them all, and he was hit straight in the head with it! How the horse managed to avoid it he didn't know, but he was thrown to the bottom of the carriage, ripping the seat int he process as his claws dug in, trying to keep him safe.
When his head finally stopped spinning, he decided that he would stay at the bottom of the carriage before he could get hit by one of the branches again.
