My Thoughts Are With You
VERSATILE POINT.
(Your character of choice finds themselves near Neued when the call to arms is announced! Do they help the settlement defend its borders? Or do they instead side with the Obans, becoming an inside man for the invasion? Or, as an Oban, do they choose to support the invasion or switch to the other side?)
The house was silent against the ice storm wailing outside, and all seemed still in contrast to the warfare swirling upon the opposite shore from where he was. He had been there when they had announced the call to arms. Neued was under fire and, in his dismal opinion, would soon fall to it's knees. Senja's face wavered in the candlelight, inciting jolts of worry and bringing warmth to his cheeks as he wrote by it's light. With what words could he explain himself away from the chaos he had absconded from? How could he relay himself in a manner that she, and the village of Neued, could comprehend? Perhaps he was just worrying himself over something simple to glance over. He had only been a part of her life for a short time. Surely, somehow, she could look over this desertion, for lack of a better word? Olive eyes lowered, sleepless, and wriggled open again and again. Struggling against sleep, he penned down his heart.
"Dearest Senja,
I apologize for my hasty retreat, my brother needed me here in the mountains. I've been through quite an adventure, for lack of a better phrase, and all you need to know is that we're unscathed. However, my father requires quite a bit of healing and has begged me to stay. I know of the plight in Neued and how grim the need is for fighters there, believe me, I could never lose memory about something as serious as that, but my father has been through a near death experience and... I can't leave him at this time.
Please tell the village that I am praying my hardest for your safety and integrity. Keep yourself safe, Senja, please. I will be there in spirit, guarding you with every ounce of energy I can spare, and my every though will be with you and those that you hold dear until I can travel back and use what I have learned to help you. Until that day, please remain safe and be smart while you are out there. There are so many things I wish I could do but being so far away makes it impossible. I hope that you can understand and convey this to everyone else. Let them know that I am on their side and that I will do everything in my power to aid them when I return. My family has been through an unimaginable amount of insanity, and...
Well.
My family is my top priority. They're the only things I have left. If I lose them, I'm nothing. I... Hope you understand.
My thoughts are with you,
Rastian."
As he placed the pen upon the desk and gave his eye a rub, he turned towards the sofa in the back of the room. He would sleep there tonight and hand this letter off to Ejie tomorrow, and it would likely reach Jauhar in the next week or so. Hopefully, then, she would be able to understand why he had to leave. Hopefully.
