Rastian moved slowly towards the space the Perzi had taken roost in the last time he had been there. This time, he was certain that he would be bringing it home with him, even if the beast protested. He knew it was a little obsessive, but he'd really gotten accustomed to coming here and petting it once and a while, and he wanted to feed it at home where he felt it belonged. He waited in his usual spot and shook the bag of food, only to sit for several minutes without a response from the beast. Had it run away from this space? He hoped not, he really wanted to make sure it was okay...
Suddenly, a shrill mewing sound came from the bushes and sent a chill up his spine. Was it being attacked? He stood and wandered forward, his eyes scanning the brush for any sign of his little friend. Where was it? It was obviously calling out for him! The Monk moved forward a few steps more and came upon a hole in the middle of the forest. Had this always been there? He peered into it and gasped. W...What were those things? Were they... Baby Perzai? He ran his finger along the naked back of one of the babies and pursed his lips, just before the strike of a sharp claw slashed across his arm.
"Hey, hey! I wasn't going to hurt them!" He cried, pushing the bag of food to the familiar Perzi as it arched it's back towards him. "I was just worried about you, silly thing. Is this why you didn't want to come home with me? You didn't want to leave your babies, did you?"
The Perzi hopped into it's hole with her babies and coiled around them protectively, her eyes narrowed firmly at the man standing in front of her. Rastian took this as a signal to step back and become a silent observer instead of an active participant and sighed. Well, it looked like he wouldn't be taking his little friend home with him after all, she had quite a few new mouths to feed! He chuckled to himself. Well, he could help her out with all that, couldn't he? He'd bring the new mother some food as he had been doing every day and let her raise her babies, then he'd try to bring her back home with him. For now, it was back to his own baby back at the house. Come to think of it, he might be getting a little hungry, too. Maybe he'd see about fixing his family a dinner when he got back?
He peered back to the mother Perzi as he left and found himself laughing. It was strange that he could relate to an animal like this. A new parent just looking for a safe place in this big world. It was oddly comforting to him. If a mother animal could hold her own and raise her babies so well, then why couldn't he do the same?
