Relaxing on the Beach PRP with VanTaking a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, two Lunarians find themselves relaxing on the beach. [COMPLETED]
After their parting goodbyes, Kiran left the beach also. As he headed home, he mused on Van's words about his situation with his sister. First loves never last? He wouldn't know anything about that having never been in love even once. He felt a little jab at that. Plenty of other Lunarians were experiencing first loves. Yue and Jianyu were already married. And he hadn't even kissed anyone! His attention had always been so focused on training to fight in the war or honing his skills in other... activities. Now that he was living on his own, working at the ship yard and building boats took up a great deal of his time.
But after his sister revealed that she had a boyfriend, Kiran couldn't help feeling like he was missing out on something by not experiencing love. Was he perhaps too devoted to other things? It wasn't like he didn't encounter women. Though it seemed most of the time, they ended up fighting for the other side of the war. He didn't think a relationship with someone on the Legion side would last.
He shook his head. If first loves really didn't last, then he had nothing to worry about with this boy that Xiuying liked being on the Legion side. But why hadn't she come to him about having a boyfriend? How could she have told their parents before him? Kiran thought they had grown close enough to share that kind of information freely with one another. He ruffled up his blue hair with both hands as he thought on it. He would just have to show some support to her relationship, as much as he didn't like it, so that she wouldn't be mad with him any longer.

The smile on his face was weak and forced, and he was certain his sister could tell he was having a difficult time of it. Xiuying had her arms folded across her chest as she narrowed her eyes at him. Kiran winced at that annoyed expression upon his sister's face. She had, grudgingly, agreed to come over to his apartment, but it was clear that she didn't want to be there. After the last time which ended in a fight between, Kiran was surprised she actually came. Her anger at him had not subsided in the least bit. Her fingers drummed impatiently on her upper arm as she waited for this visit to be over, which she no doubt hoped would be soon.
"I got you some of those paints you really like," Kiran said as he pushed the box of paint across the table toward his sister. Xiuying followed it with her eyes then lifted her gaze again to continue glaring at him. Kiran sighed, hanging his head. He wasn't good with this type of thing. He didn't often make apologies, and he hadn't had the need to make an apology to his sister in years. Of course, he still felt the need to make things up to her after being a horrible old brother in their early years of life, but saying "I'm sorry" never seemed like enough to atone for his childish actions. He looked up, meeting his sister's eyes. "I shouldn't have reacted like that."
Xiuying uncrossed her arms, and her hands flew into a fury of motions. Anger clouded her eyes. It's none of your business who I date.
"I know," Kiran replied, sighing like it was a great effort to say that. His shoulders sagged. He didn't think he was making the situation any better. "But I am your brother, and I worry about you."
Xiuying narrowed her eyes farther with a look like she was inspecting his body language to catch him in a lie. Even so, that gives you no right to tell me who I can and can't date.
"You're right." Kiran agreed, but it didn't stop him from being annoyed with the fact that the man who his sister decided to date was a Legionnaire. It didn't stop him from worrying that the man might hurt her somehow. "And that doesn't excuse how I acted it. I just-" He shook his head in disbelief. "You actually told Mom and Dad but kept me out of the loop. You never do that."
Xiuying hunched her shoulders as she looked away from him. You're all, she made a random gesture with her hands that made no sense in their sign language, gung-ho with the whole war thing. I didn't want to tell you and have you react like a jerk.
Kiran winced at that comment, but he couldn't deny it. He had been a bit of a jerk. "Well, I promise I am not going to let that be an issue. I may not like that you're date a Legionnaire, but you are clearly old enough to make your own decisions about your life."
It's about time someone realized that. Xiuying managed to crack a smile in response.
Kiran smirked at that. He knew he didn't really have any right to judge her choice of boyfriends. For all his arguments against her dating a Legionnaire, he had friends who were Legionnaire, though some of those friendships were rockier than others. It only made him a hypocrite to tell her not to get involved with a Legionnaire when he made friends with them. Off the battlefield, Kiran had come to realize that he had no reason to hate a Legionnaire simply for the side of the war that they supported. He probably would have gotten angry even if she had told him that she was dating a Noble. What side the man was on wasn't the important part, he realized belatedly. What mattered was that she hadn't trusted him with the knowledge that she was dating someone.
"At some point, you'll have to let me meet him," Kiran said with a teasing smile. He noted the tension that seized his sister. "I'll behave. Promise." He raised his arms up in surrender to her. "But if you ever plan to marry him, you can't just keep us, your family, from meeting him."
Xiuying flushed furiously, turning her head down as if to hide her blush. We're not that serious.
Kiran laughed at her reaction. "I mean when you are serious with a guy." He was happy that things seemed to be working out despite the rough start they got off to when she first arrived.
A knock on the door interrupted their conversation. Frowning, Kiran stood and went to answer the door. Who would be coming over now? He only made arrangements to have his sister visit today at this time, and he couldn't think of anyone that would make a surprise visit. When he opened the door, his surprise increased as he stared at Iseul standing on the other side of the door.
"Um," Kiran said dully, too shocked to think of what to say.
"I wondered if I might have a word," Iseul explained. He glanced around Kiran and spotted the other person in the apartment. "Sorry. I didn't realize you were entertaining a lady. Shall I come back at another time?"
"Entertaining?" Kiran mumbled, his brow knitting in his confusion. Then he laughed and shook his head. "No, this is my sister."
Xiuying picked up the box of paints as she walked over to join them at the door. Turning to Kiran, she made small, quick hand signs.
"Apparently she has to go now," Kiran translated for Iseul. Xiuying bobbed her head at the man before she headed down the hallway. "What did you need to speak with me about?" He stepped aside to let Iseul enter his apartment.
"I have a favor to ask of you." Iseul waited for the door to close behind them before he continued. "I want you to attend a Legionnaire gambling establishment tonight."
"Excuse me?" Kiran blinked, perplexed by the request. True, he had frequented a few gambling halls recently, and many of them had been mostly occupied by Legionnaires. He couldn't place why Iseul, of all people, was asking him to make an appearance at one such place.
"I have to suspect that there will be a meeting with one of the higher ups in the Legion faction taking place there tonight," Iseul explained, using that cryptic manner that Captains usually had when speaking to someone not ranked high enough to be in the know on important things. Kiran found that irksome. "I need someone who can blend in with the crowd to go in and see if they ferret out some information. I hear you're pretty good at the covert missions."
"Go in, get information, get out." Kiran nodded. "Sounds simple enough."
"Excellent!" Iseul smirked one of those rare almost smiles that he had. "Here's the address of the place." He held out a slip of paper.
Taking it, Kiran wondered why Iseul was coming to him for this mission. The man had to know plenty of other fighters that could carry out the mission. Kiran still had the impression that Iseul didn't think too well of him, even after that recent incident. But perhaps he had misjudged the man. Iseul wasn't exactly easy to read.
"You can report back to me until afterward," Iseul said as he opened the door. After bidding a farewell, he left.
Kiran glanced at the address on the slip of the paper. "Bribing my way into a Legionnaire only establishment. That shouldn't be too hard," he mumbled to his empty apartment.

Card Sharks and Loaded Dice PRP with Van - Battle with VanWhat's a Noble doing on this side of town? [COMPLETED - LEGION WIN]
Upon returning home to his small, dark apartment, Kiran immediately set about tending to his wounds. A quick glance to any reflective surface showed him dark marks about his throat from the crushing grip of the brutish Legionnaire. He rubbed at his sore neck like that might somehow erase the pain and bruising. He sat up for some time, his thoughts swimming with the events of that night.
Van's arrival at the bar was a mixed blessing. The brawl would have broken out regardless of her presence. After all, it had been the bump that spilled the drink that set it all into motion with no help from the two of them. But Van betrayed his identity to a bar full of angry, drunk, rowdy Legionnaires. He still felt a sting of hurt at that, though he wondered how he would have reacted had the situation been reversed. Would he betray Van's identity to a room full of Nobles? He would hope he wouldn't, but depending on the situation, he couldn't be perfectly certain. It would have been all too easy for her to leave him to his fate at the hands of the other Legionnaires instead of helping to save him.
Where did that put their rocky relationship?
He had no answer. To add to his problems, he learned nothing from his mark and would have to meet with Iseul to give him that disappointing news. What exactly did Iseul hope to learn? The man had given little information regarding the mission.

Smoke on the Battlefield Battle with YueYue Lao and Kiran meet again... this time, on the battlefield. They have no choice but to fight on through, even though it seems like this conflict is punctuating Yue Lao's doubt about her own abilities as Captain. On the other hand, how will Kiran take the fight? [COMPLETED - LEGION WIN]
Kiran only managed a small nod when Yue asked if he would be okay. He wasn't entirely sure of that though with the pain he suffered. As much as he wished to stay on the battlefield and continue the fight, he knew he wouldn't be much help to the rest of the Nobles. It was time for him to make his retreat before he received worse injury or simply passed out to be crushed under the feet of the other fighters.
Through the fog, he managed to catch Yue's movement. He didn't exactly what that was in her hand, but he knew it wouldn't be wise to stick around to find out. As she tossed it, Kiran turned on his heel and darted off through the mass of bodies raging war.

Midnight Clash Battle with VanAn unfortunate midnight encounter between two Lunarians on duty. [COMPLETED - LEGION WIN]
Kiran ground his teeth, rubbing his wrists that still had marks from where they were rubbed raw from his attempts to twist his hands free from the leather straps that Van used to tie him up after their fight was finished. A few more thin white lines where added to his already scarred hands when he tried to use a little fire, through badly attempted hand seals, in order to burn away the leather strap. Thankfully, he had been smart enough to make the fire small enough that he didn't lose complete control of it. The bad news was that he still had to wait for the other Nobles at the camp to find him and free him, which took until after the sun rose the next morning. The Captain was angry with his failure to guard against the Legion's attack, but the other fighters felt some sympathy for him since he was the only one patrolling a point around the camp without any backup.
Kiran rubbed the palms of his hands against his eyes. Not only had he lost, but now he owed Van a lunch. He could only hope that she would be a little kind to him and not blow all his money on that lunch.

Making up PRP with VanThe market place in the crowded afternoon, two Lunarians meet yet again. Can these two make amends after their last fight? [COMPLETED]
He hadn't expected to run into Van that day while wandering the crowded market place. But it turned out to be not as bad an encounter as it could have been. Their last meeting hadn't been one that he would want to admit to other Lunarians. Being left tied up in the woods and causing self-injuries trying to break free wasn't something he liked to brag about. But like other times, they managed to carry on a civil conversation, and Kiran had actually enjoyed their quick meal of beef wraps. He wouldn't have minded if they had stayed to talk a little longer. Their relationship continued to bounce back and forth between friendly conversations and fighting each other. What did one call a relationship like that? Kiran shrugged off the question, settling with thinking of Van as a friend.

Rain, Gifts, and Friendly Words PRP with VanEven the rain doesn't stop Lunarians from venturing out to the shops. [COMPLETED]
Long after Van left, Kiran finally started making his way home after purchasing a small rose broach for his mother and a pair of amethyst earrings for his sister. The rain hadn't let up just yet, and without an umbrella to shield him from it, he only continued to get soaked to the bone. The woman at the shop kept giving him strange looks, her nose wrinkling slightly, as he browsed and eventually made his purchase. She judged him by his appearance, he could tell, but he did have the look of a man that fell overboard out at sea. She probably didn't want him dripping all over her precious merchandise.
His mind wasn't on that part of the day though. He kept thinking back on his conversation with Van. His cheeks burned despite the cold reaching down into his bones from the chilly rain. He was simply being honest with her, but thinking back on it, he probably shouldn't have said such an embarrassing thing. He was terrible when it came to giving real compliments to people, especially a pretty lady.

Bookkeeping Battle with VanVan expects a quiet night of book-keeping, until it quickly becomes apparent that she's not alone. [COMPLETED - DRAW]
A Debt Repaid PRP with VanHours after their last confrontation, Van and Kiran find themselves in very different environments— the Legionnaire in a medic tent, and the Noble in an interrogation room. Can Van overlook her duties to help Kiran, as he did for her? [COMPLETED]
Kiran collapsed onto his bed once he managed to drag himself home after everything that happened. He met with Iseul to check over his injuries, not wanting to worry his sister. He didn't want to think of how Xiuying would react when he turned up looking the way he did. He was a complete mess after the Legionnaires held him for interrogation. His body ached all over and his nose stung like crazy with each breath, even after Iseul healed it. Settling for breathing out of his mouth, Kiran stared up at the ceiling in his small apartment. He was exhausted, but sleep didn't seem to want to come to him.
His Captains would be angry with him for failing to collect the file that they required from the Legionnaire storehouse. He sighed, knowing a punishment would surely come to him for that. But his mind was on Van. Their fights had never been nice, but while they fought with the intention of stopping one another from achieving their goals, they never intended to fatally harm one another. He couldn't get the image of Van lying there as the blood poured out of her wound. The image remained ingrained in his mind, and he doubted it would be one that he forgot anytime soon, if ever.

Fight at the Fountain Battle with VanKiran catches Van by herself outside of a Noble establishment. It's suspicious, to say the least, and a fight seems inevitable when it becomes obvious that she's stalling for a mission. [COMPLETED - NOBLE]
Kiran shook his head after the earful of yelling he received for not being present to help deal with the situation inside at the fundraiser. If he never got invited on another mission at the Nobles estates, he would be glad of it. That fancy type of gathering wasn't his cup of tea. He doubted letting Van walk away after their fight cleared him of the debt he owed her. As much as he taunted them, those Legionnaire interrogators could really pack a punch. He rubbed a finger over his nose, remembering the terrible pain that one punch caused when it broke his nose.

Battle Tournament Round One Battle with SomKiran enters the tournament in his first fight. [COMPLETED - LOSS]The Bitterness of Defeat PRP with VanAfter his first battle in the tournament, a terrible loss, Kiran runs into Van. [COMPLETED]
Kiran tried to make it to Van's next match. He briefly considered competing in the exhibition matches but decided against it. His hand didn't hurt as much when he tried to move his fingers like they did right after his fight against Som. But with all his injuries from that fight, it seemed like a better idea to sit the matches out and recover without causing more damage to his body. He leaned back on one of the benches, not certain if it was the one where Van and he spoke the other day or not. He watched several of the other matches taking place before growing tired. He cheered for Van, hoping she would win her next match.

Sailors' Knots and Linked Chains PRP with VanA ferry ride turns nasty when the crew runs into pirates, and Van and Kiran find themselves in a situation that is less than... ideal. [COMPLETED]
Kiran collapsed onto his bed when he finally made it home that night. A simple job helping on a ferry turned out to be more than he thought it would be. He never imagined that he would run into Van in a situation like that, and he almost worried about how they would get out of it while they were chained together by hand and foot. After freeing themselves from their shackles, things went more smoothly between them. He could still clearly remember Van wrapping the chain around that pirate's neck and bring him down with such ease. He swallowed thickly when he thought of being on the receiving end of a similar attack from Van. Rubbing at his eyes, he hoped that wouldn't happen. They were friends. Kind of. Right?
