Dear Diary,

I know it’s been long since I’ve written in here, but I’ve been busy looking for a job. So far, I’ve got one as a cashier at the supermarket. I see lots of Gaian people about, and some with their children. Which makes me feel guilty about leaving Alora, Mere and the three babies at home with Lyll and Kaylee. I really wish I could spend more time with them, but things have been going downhill since the Krystal Latice thing happened. I really do miss that place badly. Even though I’ve seen Fauste, I wonder how Zachs and Liz are. I really hope they’re doing okay though.

Back to the kids. Alora’s went to see her dragon egg; I finally got some time out to go with to D-Corp with her. She’s quite thrilled about it; Mere just informed me that he accompanied her to the library to do research on dragons. He’s worried about his scales; he thinks he’s turning into a dragon! I assured him that none of the sort will happen, and he went to sleep. It’s quite late though, I wonder if he stayed up just to tell me this. Or has he been always up this late? I don’t know.

But maybe I don’t know anymore, for a lot of things. Today, I saw this couple in the supermarket, and they looked so in love with each other. And then I remembered what Mereneth had asked me, “Why don’t we have a dad?” And it strikes me.

I haven’t been thinking about him, diary. But now I remember him and I realize something. He’s gone from my heart. Just disappeared. It’s like an empty hole in my heart; I have no one special to put it there anymore.

So Richard is history. But he was my best friend, and I wonder where he is in Gaia and how he has been doing. Just on the account that we were friends.

Yes, were. I don’t feel close to him any longer. It’s confusing but I get it. My heart’s finally given up on him. Kaylee says I can get a new guy with I want.

I don’t think I’m ready yet though. Only if “Mr Right” suddenly pops up in front of me; I mean, you can’t stop love when it comes right?

But I’m not gonna go look specifically for it. My heart’s had enough.

For now, it’s just the kids, Lyll, Kaylee and me.

A new...mother?

“We’re having a visitor.” Melody informed the family, carrying her bowl of cereal and milk carefully over to the dining table.

The Illusionary boy stared up at his mother with a cocked eyebrow. “Visitor?” He queried, shoveling a spoon of cereal into his mouth with loud chomps. Well, that was Mereneth for you.

Alora’s eyes barely looked up from her book as she turned the page, feathers ruffling softly as a wind blew in the open window. The girl was curious about this guest, admittedly, but she was too engrossed in the plot. It was getting too interesting for her.

The red-haired mage flipped her hair over her shoulder and glanced at Lyllana warily. The housekeeper nodded back grimly. It was time to tell them.

Only Mereneth noticed these gestures between them. “Whaaatt?” He demanded. He didn’t like things being kept from him, secrets got on his nerves. And when something got on his nerves…He could almost feel the fire burning up in his hand.

Melody noticed this and frowned slightly. She had been trying to get him to get his emotions under control; his powers could go haywire. “There’s something you both need to know.”

Now, even Alora had looked up from her book, putting her bookmark in between the pages. She could hear the seriousness in her mother’s voice. Even she was getting a little worried. ‘What’s going on?’ She wondered, biting her lips nervously.

“I need to go back.” Blue eyes held worry. “My world is under attack by Marcell, my twin brother. So…my cousin is coming to help me take care of you guys.”

There was silence at first as they digested this information. Then…

“WHAT?!” Mereneth stood up, eyes blazing, knocking his chair down with a large thud as he flew up, leathery wings flapping in the air. Alora merely froze in her seat, eyes widening with fear. Not only from the information, but also from her brother’s reaction. Heat was radiating from his hands as fire burst from his palms and circled into blazing balls. When she had managed to gain her voice back, Alora whispered. “Bro…”

Melody looked remorseful, terrible guilt sinking down on her heart. “I’m sorry. But it was inevitable. And I have to go.” She rose up from the table and stared at Mereneth angrily. The boy blinked and then sighed, floating down as the fire disappeared.

“It’s time.” Lyallana spoke. At this, Kaylee flew in and landed on the table.

“The portal’s about to open. Hurry!”

The fire mage nodded and ran beside the phoenix. With a nod towards his sister, the two flew after their mother.

“The portal’s been in your room all this time?” Mereneth gave an incredulous snort, orange eyes sweeping across the room. “And we never noticed it?”

“It’s hidden.” Melody hoisted her luggage up and grinned. “You think I would want to risk anyone disappearing?”

She looked over at both of them tenderly. The both of them had seemed to finally accept that she was leaving. With a sigh, the young woman pulled them both into a hug, stroking their hair. Alora buried her face into her mother’s chest silently, while Mereneth didn’t fidget, for once. “Kaylee will still be here.” She reassured.

“Aww. And I thought we would get something good out of this!” He gave a fake pout and the phoenix looked at him scathingly.

“Hey. I don’t want to be a babysitter either.” Kaylee shot back, and everyone burst out laughing. Just then, Alora stirred and pointed to the long mirror standing near Melody’s bed. “Look!” The dove stared in wonder as a small swirling dot appeared in the middle of the glass, then got bigger.

“Now, that, took a hell of a time.” A teen stepped through the portal and flashed Melody a grin. “Hey cuz, good luck with that idiot.” The girl had long dark brown hair tied back in a braid and wore a purple tied top over a black tube, completed with denim shorts and a scarf tied around her waist.

“Let me introduce you guys to Louise…”

“Uh uh uh.” The girl wagged her finger at Melody. “Yourie. No more Louiseanna.”

The fire mage nodded. “Yourie. I trust you know Lyll. This is Mereneth and Alora.” She gestured to the both of them. Alora nodded with a tentative smile, while Mereneth merely smirked.

“Mom, you’re hiring a babysitter? She doesn’t look old enough to be responsible.”

Yourie’s mouth dropped open, and she placed a hand on her hip. “Excuse me? How old do you think you are, you little brat? I’m TWENTY ONE!”

Mereneth glared at her, but Alora put a restraining hand on him. The boy pushed her hand and marched up to Yourie. “I’m NOT a little brat.” His speech was laced with fury. He wasn’t small.

Yourie opened her mouth, and she would have given him a snide reply, if not for Melody clearing her throat, breaking up the tension between the two.

“That’s enough. All of you get along now.”

The teenager forced a smile on her face. “You go, cuz. I can handle things here.”

Melody nodded, and then hesitated with a leg through the portal. “Behave yourselves. Especially you.” She stared at Mereneth, who rolled his eyes.

After Melody disappeared, Yourie whirled around to pin Mereneth with a glare. “Now listen here…” She began.

“No, YOU listen.” Mereneth pulled his fist back in a threatening manner. “I’m not taking orders from a…OOF!” Some sort of invisible force had slammed him backwards into the wall and Yourie tilted her head with a smile.

“You were saying?”

“What…you…?”

“You’re a telekinetic?” Alora burst out, and Mereneth looked at her quizzically. “I’ve…read about it.” She whispered, wings curling around her protectively, making her seem smaller.

“Yup.” Yourie grinned. “I can use my mind power to induce motion. And I’m telepathic as well. So don’t mess with me, brat.” She shot at Mereneth and the force vanished and he slumped down to the floor, glaring at the girl as she strutted out of the room.

“Bro…” Alora scuttled to where he lay with a worried frown. “She isn’t that bad…really…”

The boy’s face hardened, not listening to what she was saying.

“This means war.”

Although it IS above the listed price range, this secret santa is one of the many more concerned with giving the right gift - always must impress the ladies! Aloras gift is wrapped simply in light yellow wrapping paper and inside is a small padded jewelry container and inside is a small silver pendant. While it looks like an ordinary 'peace' sign on a length of black silk, in reality, it is a hoop of silver with two doves cradled against the sides - one to the left, the other to the right. Each have a single wing extended, the very tips of them brushing atop of the silver hoop. With the space between the doves and the triangles their wings present, it creates a small, detailed 'peace' sign.

We meet again?
Shopping with Jewel

Dear diary,

My first Christmas was quiet. But it was nice.

Yourie had to explain to us what Christmas was, and I was glad that they hardly fought on the day; Aunt Lyll said if they did, Santa Claus wouldn't bring them any presents.

I got my Secret Santa today. It's a lovely pendant and even though I couldn't bear to take off the necklace Mother gave me, Yourie convinced me to put it on. I wonder who gave it to me. Is it someone I know? Is it a boy or a girl? I must thank him or her properly when they tell us.

Yourie gave me a lovely silver charm bracelet, and I attached the pendant mom gave me to that. I miss her. I wonder where she is. We asked Yourie if we could contact her but she said no. And then we all looked sad, so I cheerfully said never mind, that I was sure wherever she was, she was thinking about us.

Mereneth gave me a book about dragons. He knows I love reading so. He even promised to make me a swing under one of the trees when spring comes around.

So even though mom isn't here, it was a nice Christmas.

I hope to spend next year's with her.

Car-Nee-Val!
Meeting Tryst & her mother
PostPosted: Sun Aug 03, 2008 7:08 am

Dear diary,

I'm worried. Both for myself, and Mereneth.

Brother hasn't been back after last night. He's not one to stay overnight somewhere else without telling us. It wasn't as if he had a fight with Yourie either. The last one was over the Rejected Olympics, but now it's over and...

Yourie says he'll come back, but I see the worried frown on her face, the dark troubled clouds in her eyes and the eyebags. She's tired; I think she's been contacting mother about the war. She admitted that there is a way to talk with mom, but she didn't want us to know. It's hard and draining on her. I'm too afraid to ask her how it's going.

But I miss mom. I met Tryst, a little snake girl a while back. It seems like I still have this instinct to be afraid of them; Tyven, Drez, Tryst. They're all nice, and all snakes, but it was scary. Some snakes eat birds, I guess that's why I feel this way.

Tryst is so sweet though, and her mom as well. Seeing them makes me miss mother. Where is she? How is she coping? Is she well? Is she injured? There are so many questions I want to ask, but I don't know...

Poor Unfortunate Souls

"Where the hell is he?" The telepath muttered, redialing the pyro's number and held her phone to her ear, hoping for an answer. A voice told her to leave a message after the beep and she resisted the urge to fling the phone against the wall in anger.

Yourie was not in a good mood.

She had been contacting Melody late at night, when the kids were asleep, asking for information about the war, and offering advice to help. Every time, the fire mage would ask about them.

What am I supposed to tell her now? That the fire brat had run away from home?

Brat.

She still called him that, but had warmed up to him (Heh, a pun) and they were starting to get along. So why the hell would he suddenly just disappear? Without even leaving a call? Even the kittens were worried. Their master, and one of their siblings (The one who liked to snooze in Mereneth's hood) were gone, and some of them now followed Yourie around, and some stayed in Alora's room, comforting the little girl.

The dove had been shocked, upset and very very worried. A few days had passed and Mereneth wasn't home and she had started to cry. The only thing Yourie could do was to comfort her in a warm embrace and try to assure her everything was alright, and try to stall, and pretend nothing had happened in front of Melody.

"Alora, sweet? It's time for dinn...Oh GOD!" She pushed open the door to the dove's room, and ran straight for the shaking figure, avoiding the vomit on the floor and wrinkling her nose in disgust. "LYLL!" She called the housekeeper, and cradled the girl in her arms, heart beating in fear.

"What happened?" She asked, eyebrows furrowing in concern. She couldn't have eaten something wrong...Lyllana was always clean and stuffy about hygiene. "Oh ********. This is getting bad. Really bad."

"I...is...Me..." Alora tried to stammer and sit up, but collapsed back into the woman's arms again, shivering wildly. She had never felt so bad before. Wasn't the injections she took supposed to stop her from being sick?

"Shhh, don't talk." She held a finger to Alora's lips and looked towards the door as the housekeeper walked in. "Clean up the mess, I'll bring her to the doctor.

"They're not open at this time." Lyllana replied, looking at the dove girl in concern. "What happened?"

"I don't ******** know!" Yourie yelled. The last thing on her mind was to censor her words, and her mind was reeling in panic. First fire boy, now this. And the war...it's getting worse...

She swallowed back a lump in her throat and stood up, carrying Alora in her arms. God, it's lucky she's light. "Alright. Where is that...corporation place Melody said she's from? Maybe they can fix this." Or maybe they did this. Alora had said she didn't like the techs there.

Having given the address, she dashed to the car, and put Alora in the back seat, making her as comfortable as possible. The kittens were meowing and wanting to come along, but Yourie firmly said no.

She had enough bad luck as it is.

"Hang in there, Alora." She said, as she stepped on the accelerator. Going over the speed limit or not, she just knew she had to get to D-Corp in the fastest time possible. The girl was looking paler than usual (That was saying something) and it frightened Yourie. A lot.

"Please. Let her be okay." She murmured, praying as she swung the steering wheel, prompting a screech from the tires.
