Any it was that time again when children would come down witht he sniffles and heaven only knew what other colds. Although, today's visit wouldn't be about such simple illnesses, but rather more severe ones. Bird's did get sick sometimes, truly sick. Though, so did any living organism for that matter. That was why D-Corp took to the practice of preventing it from happening.

He just ended up stuck with going through the process of it with the children. Well, it couldn't be that bad. Not as strange as trying to give a jellyfish shots. That... had been interesting.

A quick glance at the clock said that within the next five minutes the child should be showing up, a dove this time. Hopefully this wouldn't take too long, he had more work to finish up. With the new year came new work. It didn't help that Revon's dragon, while better behaved now, was so zoned out on happy pills it was possibly as dangerous as ever. If anything, he disliked the idea of leaving the two unattended for too long for fear the dragon would manage to fall off a cliff.

Not that he was ever not concerned these days. Worrying had become a hobby of his it seemed. Such was life when dealing with children it seemed.

Well, Haruki wouldn't have an additional worry for today then. The dove girl was, yes, rather afraid; as all children would be, of the shots she would getting today, but she had been calmed down and told that it was a compulsory procedure. And was threatened with no books if she refused.

It wasn't as if Alora would throw a tantrum either.

The blonde had her hair tied back today in a simple ponytail and she knocked softly before entering, an occasional nervous flicker in her blue eyes. "Hello." She greeted with a slight bow of the head, looking uncertain of what to next.

He continued to arrange the few needles along a tray to make things simple. Accessibility was half of the task. If things finished quickly it was less stressful for the child afterall. By the time the near inaudible knock came it was set up as well as any could hope for.

A brief glance was given to the girl, a polite nod returned as the girl bowed. Polite and good manners, a rare sight in children her age. "Good morning." Although, it wasn't too long before it would switch to being in the afternoon. "You must be Alora." Of course he'd found her name off of the chart earlier, but it would likely help to get things moving along faster. "You're just here for the general vaccinations, so before we begin did you have any questions you'd like cleared up?" In the past other children had wanted to ask a variety of things, thus this was simply another formality to getting this over with as quickly as possible.

The dove gave a brief nod, acknowledging her name as her blue eyes traveled to where the needles lay and gave a nervous gulp. Be calm, be calm. It'll be over in a few seconds. She told herself, breathing slowly.

Questions? Not much, seeing that Yourie had already briefed her before dropping her off. But she did have one. "How many do I need?"

It seemed, while there was evidence of uncertainty, that the child wasn't one to take this too poorly. Or so the current state seemed to suggest it would go smoothly. He raised a brow at the question, obviously musing over it before replying. "I might ask a question for you to think about before answering." As he'd rather this stayed on the same smooth track. "While you are curious, would you be one to flinch searching for each one should you know the number, perhaps reacting to it poorly, or would you simply take the number to your mind and go about the process the same as if you ever knew?" Afterall, a tense child was harder to deal with.

"Once you come to a conclusion you are welcome to choose to take your seat on the table, or look at the tray to the side-" He calmly gestured toward where the needles lay on the counter. "-and count before seating yourself depending on the answer you form for yourself."

Alora nodded, though a bit confused. He was replying her question with another, and not an answer? But he was older, a teacher, and supposedly wiser, so she held her tongue.

"It's merely curiosity." She answered, sitting down.

But perhaps he was right. If she knew how many she was to take; she'd be more tense, wouldn't she? It was better not knowing, she concluded silently.

He nodded. "Curiosity isn't something to be frowned upon, but is to be thought over before following through on. While knowledge is always intriguing and worth gaining, know what you truly wish to know and can handle before aiming to gain it." He replied, pulling a set of clean gloves on and preparing to clean up a point on the child's arm to avoid any chance of infection.

"Life can be seen as a series of small chances to gain a variety of forms of knowledge. Again you are met with a choice as to watch the process or look away. There are two separate kinds of knowledge and experience you'll gain from the choices you can make." Which was something of a hint that if she didn't wish to watch, it was best to look away as he moved to get one of the needles checking it silently as he waited for the child to decide.

She listened silently, nodding. There were things she could reply with, but again, she chose to remain silent. This was for injections, not for debates about curiosity.

The dove understood and hesitated for a split second, wondering what she was to do before she angled her head away. It was best not to look. There was never knowing how she might react to seeing the needle pierce her arm.

And so the child made her choice. She'd deemed she wasn't ready to know what it looked like, which was wrong. There very rarely was a wrong way to live or make a choice, there were just different outcomes. As it was, for a child he personally believed that they likely wouldn't take it well. Which was what led to the suggestion.

Shortly after the girl turned away he moved to start with the first shot, continuing the series until finishing just a short while later. Afterall, it wasn't hard so long as the child remained still, it was when they had a fit that things took too long and ended up painful for them both. As some of the kids did have more than a few ways to injure people usually.

For that instant, the girl distracted herself by thinking of the book she hadn't finished reading and was currently lying on the couch at home. It hadn't been particularly easy to read, especially when her brother and her guardian were running around yelling at each other; something about knocking over furniture. She had chose not to get into that argument.

It was after a while that she realized it was over; all she felt was a few little pricks. Alora got up from her seat, smiling at the teacher. "Thank you..." She paused, realizing she didn't know his name, and then finished her sentence. "Sir."
