It was a rather quiet evening. The dove girl mused, flipping a page of the book she was reading. Sky blue eyes peeked up from the words for a minute to observe the slow flow of passerbys; mostly strolling while chatting amicably. A small smile crept on her face as she watched them, feeling entirely peaceful at the moment, almost lulled to sleep by the gently flow of the fountain, listening to the water rushing down behind her. She placed a bookmark between the pages she had stopped at and shut it, yawning as she did so. Rubbing her red-rimmed eyes with a hand, she continued looking around, careful not to stare at anyone in particular. Although Alora liked looking at people, she had learned that they found it uncomfortable to be stared at.

She understood, of course. She didn't like being stared at either, it made her nervous and fidgety. But she really couldn't help it sometimes, she thought, with a flutter of her white wings. She liked to observe people and their actions, and in her imagination, she would form possibilities of who they were and what they did.

Well, if anyone was going to be stared at, it was Tyven. She was 5'11" already, gorgeous, and had purple hair, scales, slit-pupil eyes... Yeah, she was noticeable. Of course, she personally hated the way she looked and thought she was a hideous mistake [/emo]. Anyway, the tall girl had just exited the gym, clothed in a stylish, knee-length black coat with brass buttons, and black slacks. She wasn't wearing a shirt, par usual, bindings on her chest instead, and she had a black duffel bag over one shoulder.

As she walked away from the gym, showing a casual grace that came from frequent stretches and martial arts training, the girl briefly glanced toward the fountain, eyes locking with the other girl's before she looked away, face blank. A bird. Interesting. Tyven couldn't help but feel a sort of attraction to them, due to Cleo.

And of course, Alora stared. She tried not to, of course, but she couldn't help it. Somehow, she found the other girl's colors beautiful and hypnotizing, and the fact that she was so very tall! It made her almost wish she wasn't so plain and...white. Even though she did like herself the way she was.

When the girl's gaze locked with hers, the dove started slightly, a crimson blush creeping up on her cheeks as she grabbed her book up, trembling slightly as she buried her nose in the pages once again. She was scared that the other wouldn't like it that she had been staring. Most people didn't.

Tyven was not angry, or ashamed, for once. She found it intriguing that this... Bird... That she had been staring at had stared at her, too. The snake was somewhat entranced with the other girl's appearance. White, simple... Delicate. A real bird. For some reason, birds, unlike most other creatures, made her feel... Calm. Like Cleo. A bird like Cleo. Small... Kind.

The purple-haired girl didn't even feel shy. She was an odd sort. Changing her course, she walked directly to the fountain and stopped directly in front of her, her large shadow falling on both bird and book. Perhaps Tyven's feelings about birds came from her DNA? The Indigo snake often cohabited with "prey", protecting it, sharing a home, and instead killing and eating other snakes and predators.

It was after a while that the girl realized she had been holding the book upside down, and as a furious blush spread to the rest of her face and her neck, she turned it the right way round, all the way trembling as she watched the other come closer at the corner of her eye.

Oh dear. Was she mad? Was she coming over to tell her not to stare at her and that it was rude and and... Her mind went blank for the moment, quite positively terrified, for some reason as her shadow fell over Alora. "Uh...uh..." The girl stammered quietly. "Hi." It came out as a soft squeak and she looked embarrassed. "I'm sorry." She blurted out suddenly, after a long pause. "I didn't mean to stare at you, I just...like your colors." Had she really said that? Her head ducked slightly and she focused her eyes on the book which now lay on her lap.

Tyven was quite the intimidating beastie, to be honest. Her beauty was... Fierce. The snake tilted her head to the side at Alora's blush, then blinked slowly, a bit startled by the outburst. Liked... Her colors? She really did remind Tyven of Cleo. Tyven loved Cleo.

Dropping her bag, the tall girl took a seat next to the bird, avoiding touching the cold water at all. She hated the cold. "... Hello." Another long pause, and Tyven turned her head to watch Alora, unashamed. "... Thank you. I like your..." Everything. Shaking her head, she disregarded the rest of the sentence, and started another one. "My name is Tyven. Who are you?"

A fleeting desire to fly up in the sky and away flashed though her mind, but the dove remained paralyzed, stuck to her seat with fear. Perhaps it had to do with her bird DNA that she was reacting this way. Her heart pounded furiously in her chest as the other girl sat down and blinked in surprise as she returned her greeting. Her tense shoulders relaxed slightly as she lifted up her head to give a tentative smile.

"I'm Alora." The girl offered softly, her blush fading from her pale face, but still feeling a little nervous and on edge. She hadn't expected this to happen, but then again, it was better, wasn't it?

Alora. Well, that was pretty. And peaceful sounding. What kind of bird was she, anyway? Tyven wasn't usually the sharing type, but... "I'm an Indigo Snake." The preteen really wanted to touch Alora's feathers. To preen her like she did to her older sister. However weird the snake was though, she realized that was definitely not appropriate.

Now, though, there wasn't exactly much to say. Tyven really wasn't the talkative kind of girl. So she sat, seeming fine with being silent. Alora had a nice presence.

"Ahh." Sky blue eyes widened as Tyven revealed what she was. She did rather suspect that the other had animal DNA in her, but she wasn't exactly sure. Only the skin, and the scales; which she could now see up close, were an indication.

"I'm a Brilliant White Tail Diamond Dove." She blurted out, feeling a need to tell the other about herself as well. After that, she fell into silence, giving Tyven a tentative smile. She wasn't exactly sure what to say; she was terrified of saying something wrong and embarrass herself. Again.

Tyven's mouth was dry as she kept her palms firmly pressed to the fountain's cool marble, resisting primal urges. Urges to touch, to possess. Protect? She was an odd girl, it could certainly be said. It was as if her outside was an opposite to her inside. She got different aspects of her animal's DNA. Most of the children simply looked like the animal, she FELT like it, as well.

"I like that." Low, husky. That she was a bird, such an... innocent bird. Alora had gotten herself onto Tyven's very short 'good' list, just by being what she was.

Seeking to normalize herself, she tilted her head toward the smaller girl's book. "What are you reading? I am a fan of literature."

Like? Alora figured Tyven was referring to the bird she was and gave her a sweet smile. "I kinda like snakes too. I mean, I find them a bit scary..."At that, she blushed and fiddled with a page, "But, they're pretty. With nice smooth scales, and they glide so gracefully."

Another smile as Tyven referred to the book. "Chronicles of Narnia. The Dawn Treader." It was one of her favorites. "I like reading fantasy."

"Thank you." Tyven was, indeed, almost eerily graceful. Frighteningly pretty. Folding her arms across her chest, she smiled slightly. "I enjoy science fiction," How ironic, no? "and non-fiction. Historical texts, strategy books, and so on."

A pause. "You don't play chess, do you?" No one did, really, she found. Tyven had tried to teach Cleo, but the goldcrest didn't have the patience.

"History is nice to read." Learning from the mistakes of others; wars only amounted to senseless violence and unhappiness. While she greatly disapproved of it, it was all over. No matter, it proved that everyone should try to lead their lives peacefully.

"No." She admitted. "But I'd like to learn."

"... You would?" Something rare, a grin, flashed briefly and the purple-haired girl smoothly got to her feet. "Well..." She slid a pen and her small notebook and wrote something down. "Here is my number. I'm late to meet my sister, but, we can meet up later. I would like to teach you."

Alora smiled and nodded. Why not? Everyone else always said she should do something else besides reading all day.

"Okay." The girl accepted the piece of paper. She should get home soon, before the sky got too dark.
